PRESIDENTS REPORT. I am very pleased to report the Committee have settled into their new roles and are hard at work with the planning and organizing for our Club. To aid in this area we welcomed Barbara Clearihan to the Committee as a Co-opted assistant Secretary and her ability to take shorthand and to to type will ease the burden for Secretary, Ross McKinnon. Kerry Reynolds has our next venture, the Winton Sprints on August 1st, well in hand and you can look forward to an exciting day on the circuit and a family picnic. Porsche Club luck will ensure the day will be "Sunny and Mild". I might add that Kerry and the Committee people are well experienced in the administration of Club style circuit sprints so if this should be your first attempt you can be assured of feeling safe and Of having every opportunity to take your own time. Don't forget this event counts for the Drivers Championship. Many thanks to all the members who helped make the Beef and Burgundy evening at Banksia Court such an outstanding success. It was pleasing to see members intermingling with one another and sharing Porsche experiences. The yum-yum's that arose from the selection of German dishes travelled for miles and we are expecting double the number of people next year. The committee are planning more exciting social and sporting events and these will be announced shortly. NEW MEMBERSHIPS. We would like ito welcome the following new members to the Club. PAST EVENTS. BEEF AND BURGUNDY DINNER. As you will realise from the Presidents report this evening was a huge success and a good time was had by all. TECHNICAL TALK NIGHT. This night was very successful with members solving some of their problems and gaining information from other members problems. We would like to thank Alan Hamilton for his help on mechanical details also his mechanic Walter Gerber for showing his movie films on Grand Prix racing overseas. PORSCHE IN MOTOR SPORT. As most members will now realise Alan Hamilton has a new exciting racing car (pictured on cover) which raced for the first time at Oran Park at the end of June. Alan was entered in three races and won all three. This car is a Turbo RSR / 934 which develops 485 hp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of nearly 435 lb/ft. at 5400 rpm. If you wish to see this car in action be at Calder on Sunday August 8th. INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SPORT. The World Championship of Car Makes, which initially, looked like a Porsche solo, suddenly turned - into a suspense laden event. The Martini-Porsche 935, which piloted by Jochen Mass and Jacky Ickx, proved to be superior in the first races, had to be modified in the middle of the season following a CSI-resolution. The modification temporarily deprived the Turbo Porsche of its reliability while previously it ran with clock work precision. After two drop outs in the last two races Porsches lead in points dwindled to 82 against 78 for BMW before the 6th run for the World Championship at Watkins Glen U.S.A. While Martini-Porsche had entered only one works car in the previous races, there will be two 935 cars to compete in the 6 hrs of Watkins Glen. The 590 hp turbo racing cars doing more than 330 km/h will be piloted by the teams of Jacky Ickx/Jochen Mass and Rolf Stonimelen/Nanfred Schurti who are highly favorite also in the 6th run for the World Championship. However, the decisive point will be whether the Porsche engineers will succeed in restoring the Martini-Porsches old reliability by July 10th. - ....

PORSCHE OPENS A MUSEUM. The collection of Porsche óldtimers previously kept behind locked doors ant the Porsche plant at Zuffenhausen is now opened to the public. 25 cars, ranging from the Porsche No.1 with a 40 hp engine up to the 1100 hp CanAm racing car and including designs by Professor Ferdinand Porsche, dating back to the 1920 1 s, are displayed in the modestly styled Porsche Museum. The collection, supplemented by various technical features and aggregates as well as a photo exhibition depicting the life and work of Professor Porsche. AROUND THE WORLD IN A 924 Cont. * Lins/Plattner back home again. A round the world adventure ended happily for Rudi Lins and Gerhard Plattner, both of Austria, under the "Golden Roof" in Innsbruck on Friday, May 21 1976 at 9:00 am sharp. Making the trip in exactly 28 days they established a new record. The endurance run organized by the Tirolian Tourist Assoc. served to promote tourism in this Austrian state. The route leading through 15 countries covered no less than 40,000. km. The various continents were bridged by air. As Rudi Lins and Gerhard Plattner reported, •their partner the Porsche 924, survived the journey without serious damage They said the car was in such condition as to do another trip around the world without further preparation. Only a broken shock absorber had to be replaced after an 800 km run over a "corrugated iron" track in the Persian salt desert. When answering a question ab out fuel consumption, the two Austrians got really enthusiastic - Consumption throughout the trip ranged between 9 and 11 litres per 100 km. MARKET PLPCE.

WINTON MEETING - Sunday August 1st 1976. We are pleased to report that the response to this event has been enthusiastic, with over 30 Porsches already having been entered. As we are keen to see still more entrants, the Committee has decided to hold entries open for a further week, making the new closing date THURSDAY 29TH JULY, 1976. Some members have asked if ordinary seat belts are acceptable under the regulations - the answer is - Yes If entering, it is important to remember to bring both your civil and club driving licences, and to ensure that your car is roadworthy and not belching oil. Whilst it will not be possible to practise on the circuit on Saturday, some members intend to stay overnight at the Rose City Motor Inn, Benalla. This will enable such competitors to be fresh and early (hopefully) for scrutineering on Sunday morning. We hope to be able to provide hot drinks at the circuit, however, for those people needing extra sustenance there is a Road House about one kilometre away. Should you have any queries regarding the day please ring Kerry Reynolds (phone 85.3477 A.H.) Memo: Volunteers are still required to assist on the day itself. MARQUE SPORTS CAR ASSOCIATION - Lakeland Hill Climb 19-9-1976. We have been invited by the M.S.C.A. to compete in an event being conducted for non M.SC,A. clubs on Sunday, 19th September. Entries close on September 13th and the fee is $8-00. We have been advised that entrants should get four runs each at the hill. If you are interested in competing, contact Kerry Reynolds immediately for entry forms and Supplementary Regulations. It is expected that the M.S.C.A. will not be able to accommodate all of those wishing to enter, so be early
