Well its been 13 years – on the PCQ Committee. 6 years as President, 2 years as VP - right back to being Bill Black’s Motorsport Assistant on the Joe Martens lead committee of 2003. My time showing up at the front of the Monthly Club nights, PCQ committee nights and in this Mag is at an end. I can see Donna is smiling reading this. Time to worry and focus on something else in the Porsche world like the stone chips on the nose of the RS. Making it back to the Mt Cotton Hill Climb for another crack at a mid 44 or just blending back into the scenery. We have like any club over the years had immense highs and unfortunate lows but looking back I am proud to depart in the knowledge that the club is in great shape. Be that our membership numbers, our club finances, our full social calendar, monthly club night numbers or that we finally got our PCQ Motorsport endeavours back in the black with new competition rules for 2016. The club is well poised to receive the passion and vision of the incoming President which I am sure will build on our committees good work as I did myself with past President Phil Holzberger’s legacy. As it stands today, 9 of our 10 current PCQ committee members are stepping down with Bill Black renominating as PCQ Vice President. The PCQ AGM is a number of weeks away

which will decide all committee positions but we have 2 committee positions still vacant at the time of writing this Prose. Covering all the committee years at the helm would be too long here, so I’ll simply start with sincerely thanking the past PCQ committees that have supported not only myself but have worked tirelessly behind the scenes supporting this club. Producing our quality club magazine against deadlines, processing hundreds and hundreds of PCQ memberships, managing our clubs accounts, catering and serving members at our monthly club nights, running our annual PCQ motorsport competition as per our rules ( no easy task), running our interclub challenge, fleshing out popular monthly social drives, planning our massive annual xmas party and concourse - all while keeping our PCQ website copy up to date, updating our PCQ facebook page - all while accurately documenting committee discussions in our well read monthly committee minutes, I could go on and on as tasks come to mind. Did you know we need to pay and maintain a liquor license for our monthly club nights? Presiding over such a dynamic club as the Porsche Club of Queensland to the degree we expect to adequately represent the Porsche brand and our members expectations in 2016 is no picnic. It requires unwavering

year round commitment, consistent focus on all of our members interests, complying with laws and regulations while keeping it rewarding and enjoyable for our clubs volunteers. Your committee. In closing I thank the friendships I have as a result of joining PCQ. Lifelong friendships that I am so grateful for having in my life that I have poured back my time as President in a way of showing my profound gratitude and evening up the slate. I have taken so much out of this club. The great people, the awesome cars, and so many great times . The hours I have spent working on the PCQ committee and restanding time again as President had many family and friends asking ..why? My motivation was never about needing more work in my inbox as I have PLENTY. It was (my eyes are moist here) always about giving back to the club .. ‘thank you’. ‘Thank you’ for accepting my appreciation and I hope to see you at future club nights, social events of out at the track. Twelve months ago when I volunteered for the job as Motorsport Director, I had set a number of objectives. Firstly and most importantly, to ensure that Porsche Club motorsport was again financially viable after 4 successive years of losses amounting to tens of thousands of dollars. Secondly to implement a simple, fairer set of competition rules more befitting club level motorsport. Thirdly to increase the number of participants entering our events and being part of our club competition. There was also a need to expand the competition to include events other than just sprints. The final objective was to find a successor, as I did not want to do this job for another 7 years straight as happened last time. With the help of a number of knowledgeable and dedicated fellow club members and input from two Motorsport Forums, we have gone
NEWS
a long way to achieving these objectives. Since the last AGM we have run 6 sprints realizing a total profit of over $9,700. The club competition rules were reduced from over 40 pages down to 7 pages and further fine tuning of the benchmark system has produced a much fairer and closer competition. These new rules and holding shared events with other car clubs has steadily increased entrant numbers culminating with over 70 at the last Morgan Park sprint. Our club championship table has grown from just 14 Porsche drivers in 2015 to over 50 already this year. Organising a balanced and well-spaced motorsport calendar is not easy as we are in the hands of venue owners and available dates. Although we have a Hillclimb back on the calendar for August, more work needs to be done with holding Motorkhanas etc. and optimizing the advantages that the Inter Club Challenge series can bring to the
club. Finally after only one year in the job, I had no hesitation in nominating Kevin Vedelago for the motorsport position. I hope Kevin is elected at the August AGM and all club members give him the support the position deserves. None of this would have happened without the help from the following club members, who as well as seeing the need for change, also either supported our events as competitors or were willing to help organize and run the events. Phil and Gail Hart, Greg Turnham, Eckhard Schwarting, Jeff Clancey, Simon Cilento, Lee Cooper and Kevin Vedelago whose enthusiasm and energy is unquestionable. Thank you and I believe the future of PCQ Motorsport will be in good hands with the new committee. Bill Black Motorsport Director
EDITORS NOTES
I can’t believe it has been two years that I have been the Editor of the Porsche News. There has been some up’s and down’s but I have to say the up’s definitely wins! There has been many late nights doing various things like uploading ads to the website, work through emails and get everything ready for the magazine, but I have loved every minute. Derek and Rowen have been very supportive of me throughout the journey and I think Derek enjoyed the time that I spent on the magazine, because it’s more time for him to work on his project. I’ve written so much about the 1969 911 T that I will have to make sure you all see a picture when it is done. It looks amazing so far. I’ve never met anyone with the dedication to a project like Derek on this one. I can’t wait for the day that it is back on the road. What I really appreciate most about him and his project is that he still makes time to do fun things with me. Although he mostly only has time on the weekends to work on his car, Sunday’s is always our special days together that he gets out of the garage. I know that sometimes he really wants to be in the garage on a Sunday, but I appreciate that he is also spending time with me. Can’t wait
when the car is finished that he can spend time with us together! Seeing that this is my last magazine, I have so many people to thank. Firstly I would like to thank all the club members being passionate about their magazine. We focus so much on other parts of the club, but sometimes we forget for so many members the only contact they have with the club is through the magazine. Thank you so much to all the club members for reading and enjoying the magazine! There has also been so many members that submitted photo’s and articles. Keep on doing that. That is what the magazine is about and is gold! I would like to thank the committee of the past 2 years for always putting together articles when we were short on stories for the magazine. I’ve made new friends and that is such a bonus! Sorry about all the “I need your articles NOW” emails! A special mention to David Marshall from Porsche Centre Brisbane for all his support over the last 2 years.
Someone who needs a VERY special mention is Rachel Place. Without her we won’t have a magazine. She has been the best sub editor that anyone can ask for. Not only did she do the layout for the magazine but she also had to edit the magazine because English is my second language I did miss a lot of mistakes. Thanks Rach, you are the best! Last but definitely not least I have to thank the two men in my life, Derek and Rowen. Thank you for your love and support! Especially Derek, because Rowen is a teenager and rarely gets out of his room, but he did support me in his own special way. Good luck to the new Communications Director. You will have a ball! Good bye for the last time. Happy reading! Sunel van Renen Communications Director/Editor

The Porsche Panamera – a completely new development
Australia. The new Porsche Panamera reconciles two contrasting characteristics more than ever before: the performance of a genuine sports car and the comfort of a luxury saloon. It is a Gran Turismo that has been rethought and realigned. The second generation Panamera advances to become a performance icon of the luxury class. In this transformation, Porsche has systematically improved the Panamera concept – with a four-door car that has been redeveloped and redesigned down to the last detail. Its engines and transmissions have been redesigned, its chassis perfected, and its display and control concept reinterpreted for the future. The new Panamera also extends the borders between the world of ambitious sports cars and the world of comfortable cruising cars with highlights such as rear axle steering, active roll compensation and three-chamber air suspension. 911 design language with a much more dynamic flyline Visually, the unique concept of this large Porsche is reflected in a new expressive design: unmistakably a Panamera, unmistakably a sports car – with long, dynamic proportions, pronounced shoulders, athletic flanks and an extremely fast roof line that is 20 mm lower at the rear. This typical Porsche ‘flyline’ creates a
stylistic link to Porsche’s design icon, the 911. Plenty of functionality and easy interaction in the Porsche Advanced Cockpit The typical Porsche interior has been reinterpreted for the future in the new Panamera. Black panel surfaces and interactive displays combine a clear and intuitive user interface like that of smartphones and tablets with the practical requirements for controlling the car. Classic hard keys and conventional instruments have been reduced significantly. They have been replaced by touch-sensitive panels and individually configurable displays which take centre stage in the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit – with great benefits for the driver as well as the front and rear passengers. Despite a significantly extended range of communication, convenience and assistance systems, different functions can now be used and operated more clearly and intuitively. The Porsche Advanced Cockpit transforms the analogue world into the digital present of mobility, while leaving room for passion. The tachometer, positioned centrally in the instrument cluster, is a tribute to the 1955 Porsche 356 A. New V6 and V8 biturbo engines with ample power and full-bodied sound A Porsche has always impressed with
more than just power; its efficiency is equally important. To elevate this formula to a new level, all of the second generation Panamera’s engines have been redesigned. They have all been made more powerful, while significantly improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. Three new biturbo direct injection engines are being introduced at the market launch: in the Panamera Turbo, the Panamera 4S and the Panamera 4S Diesel. All of them – and for the first time including the diesel – are offered with a permanent all-wheel drive system and a new eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK). A V8 petrol engine that delivers 404 kW / 550 hp powers the Panamera Turbo and a V6 petrol engine with 324 kW / 440 hp drives the Panamera 4S. In the Panamera 4S Diesel, a V8 with 310 kW / 422 hp generates powerful thrust and maximum torque of 850 Nm. A luxury saloon that can take to the race track In keeping with the overall concept of the new Panamera, the chassis also unites the cruising comfort of a luxury saloon with the performance of a true sports car. This is achieved by supplementing the impressive basic layout with innovative systems such as adaptive air suspension with new three-chamber technology which is

standard on all Australian models, together with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damper control. A new electromechanical steering system also enhances the sporty characteristics. The integrated 4D Chassis Control system analyses and synchronises all chassis systems in real time and optimises the road performance of the new Panamera. Porsche also takes the steering precision and handling of sports cars into the class of Gran Turismo cars with optional rear axle steering – which is also new and has been adapted from the 918 Spyder and 911 Turbo. Brake performance is also improved. Available as an option is the further improved Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) system including Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and active roll stabilisation. Next generation assistance systems The Panamera is equipped with many assistance systems to make driving easier and safer, such as adaptive cruise control which is standard on all Australian models. New systems include the optional night vision assistant, which uses a thermal imaging camera to detect people and large animals and displays a colour highlighted warning indicator in the cockpit. With the new LED matrix headlights with 84 image points (standard on Panamera Turbo) people beyond the visual range of the dipped beam headlight are also

illuminated briefly if they are in the computed driving corridor, allowing the driver to react even faster. Going the next step is the optional Porsche InnoDrive which will be available in some markets, but not Australia at this stage. Based on navigation data and signals from radar and video sensors, it computes and activates the optimal acceleration and deceleration rates as well as gear selections and coasting phases for the next three kilometres. In doing so, this electronic co-pilot automatically takes bends, inclines and speed limits into account. New engines in detail: more power, better fuel efficiency The new V6 and V8 turbo engines of the Panamera are powerful and fuel efficient. And they all share a special conceptual design characteristic, which in the jargon of engine developers is known as “with the hot sides inward”. Translated, this means that the turbochargers of the new Panamera engines are integrated centrally into the V of the cylinder banks. This central turbo layout yields numerous benefits: The engines are more compact, enabling a lower mounting position. This, in turn, has a positive effect on the vehicle’s centre of gravity. Furthermore, the short paths between the two turbochargers and the combustion chambers produce spontaneous throttle response. Engine response can be further increased using the optional Mode Switch with the Sport Response Button which
NEWS
is part of the optional Sport Chrono Package. The Mode Switch, which was first introduced in the Porsche 918 Spyder, is an intuitively operated rotary ring on the steering wheel, which can be used to activate one of four driving modes (Normal, Sport, Sport Plus or Individual). Located at the centre of the switch is the Sport Response Button. It can be used to free up the maximum power potential of the Panamera at the press of a button. Initially, the Panamera Turbo has the most powerful petrol engine of the model series. Its 4.0-litre biturbo V8 develops 404 kW / 550 hp (at 5,750 rpm) and maximum torque of 770 Nm (between 1,960 and 4,500 rpm). It has 22 kW / 30 hp more power than the previous model, and maximum torque has been increased by 70 Nm. The eight-cylinder engine accelerates the Panamera Turbo to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds; with the Sport Chrono Package the sprint time is just 3.6 seconds. This Porsche can reach a top speed of 306 km/h. These are impressive figures that illustrate just how easily the engine can propel the Panamera with its power-to-weight ratio of just 3.6 kg / hp. These extraordinary performance figures contrast with lower combined fuel consumption figures which, at 9.4 – 9.3 L/100 kms, are up to 1.1 L/100 kms less than that of the previous model (New European Driving Cycle or NEDC). These figures equate to CO2 emissions of 214 – 212 g/km.
Porsche uses complex twin-scroll turbochargers to supply compressed air to the V8’s combustion chambers. The two counter-rotating chargers produce maximum torque figures at very low engine speeds. The Panamera Turbo is also the first Porsche to be equipped with the new adaptive cylinder control in its engine. In part-load operation the system temporarily and imperceptibly turns the eight-cylinder into a four-cylinder engine. This reduces fuel consumption by up to 30 per cent, depending on power demand in the fourcylinder phases.
Between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm the new sixcylinder delivers 550 Nm of torque (30 Nm more) to the drive axles.
The 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine of the Panamera 4S develops maximum power of 324 kW / 440 hp, (which is 15 kW / 20 hp more than the previous model) and available at 5,650 rpm.
Like the eight-cylinder engine of the Panamera Turbo, the six-cylinder engine of the Panamera 4S also has petrol direct-injection injectors that are positioned in the combustion
fastest production vehicle with a diesel engine. The Gran Turismo reaches the 100 km/h speed mark in 4.5 seconds (4.3 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package). This contrasts with a combined fuel consumption of 6.8 – 6.7 L/100 kms (178 – 176 g/km CO2).
as a biturbo or monoturbo, depending on operating requirements.
The diesel model also has biturbo charging with a central turbo layout. However, its common rail engine (2,500 bar maximum injection pressure) is equipped with sequential turbocharging. This allows the engine to work
The Panamera 4S can reach 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds (4.2 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package). With a top speed of 289 km/h, this Porsche also approaches the 300 km/h mark. The NEDC combined fuel consumption is 8.2 – 8.1 L/100 kms (186 – 184 g/km CO2). Compared to the first generation Panamera 4S, this represents a fuel saving of up to 1.0 L/100 kms, or 11 per cent.
At low to moderate engine speeds, the entire stream of exhaust gas is directed solely through one of the two turbochargers, which improves throttle response. The otherwise passive second turbocharger does not become active until the engine speed reaches 2,700 rpm or higher. Both turbochargers have variable turbine geometry (VTG) – a principle that is already familiar from the 911 Turbo.
chamber. This injector position offers optimal combustion, maximum efficiency and superior engine response. The 4S and Turbo are also characterised by exceptionally full-bodied and authentic sound. The new Panamera is also launching with a new eight-cylinder diesel engine, for the first time in conjunction with permanent all-wheel drive. The most powerful diesel implemented in a Porsche production car to date develops power of 310 kW / 422 hp at 3,500 rpm and immense maximum torque of 850 Nm – which is constant over an engine speed plateau extending from 1,000 to 3,250 rpm. With a top speed of 285 km/h, the Porsche Panamera 4S Diesel is currently the world’s
Details of the new design: even more dynamic proportions. The exterior character of the Panamera has also been sharpened with the dawn of the second generation. It is based on very dynamic proportions. The new Panamera is 5,049 mm long (+34 mm), 1,937 mm wide (+6 mm) and 1,423 mm tall (+5 mm). Despite the slight increase in height, the fourdoor car looks much lower and longer. This is primarily due to the reduced height above the
PORSCHE
NEWS
11
rear of the passenger compartment – reduced by 20 mm – while maintaining consistently good headroom. This changes the car’s overall silhouette completely. The wheelbase is increased by 30 mm to 2,950 mm; this too lengthens the car’s proportions. The front wheels are shifted further forward, reducing the front overhang and making the prestige dimension – the distance between the A-pillar and the front axle – even larger. The rear overhang is longer, giving the car a more powerful appearance. The Panamera has only grown six millimetres in width, but it seems like several centimetres. This effect is created by such features as the A-shaped air intake, which extends out to the sides and creates a completely new front-end design. At the same time, a precisely designed crossbar in the radiator grille emphasises the car’s width. The arrow-shaped bonnet accelerates this visual effect further forward and lower than before – due to the prominently contoured powerdome, whose lines now reach into the bumper. The lower front end is enabled by the new compact construction of the engines in the vehicle concept. To the left and right of the powerdome, the bonnet blends precisely into the stronger flares of the front wings – a typical Porsche design trait. Also exuding confidence is the look of the LED headlights with their fourpoint LED daytime running lights. The Panamera 4S and Panamera 4S Diesel to be sold in Australia have LED headlights as standard, together with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) which swivels the headlights into bends. Additionally, the Panamera Turbo gains as standard PDLS Plus which further increases driving safety and comfort with the LED high beam across 84 individual diodes delivering precise illumination and maximum light output, as well as turning off or selectively dimming individual LEDs to avoid dazzling the car ahead or oncoming traffic. The new side body – like the bonnet, boot, roof and wings – is made entirely of aluminium, and it accentuates the silhouette of a sports car more than ever thanks to its dynamic roof line. At the rear, this roof line becomes the charismatic Porsche flyline – the distinctive lines that adorn all of the brand’s coupés. Two precisely executed edges on the lateral roof line visually lower the silhouette’s centre of gravity. The look of the side windows is also redesigned: its visually continuous surface, together with its lines on the rear body, creates a stylistic affinity to the Porsche 911.

PORSCHE
Three-dimensionality characterises the doors and wings, where incident light shining on their convex and concave surfaces generates muscular tension. Integral design components here are the air ducts behind the front wheels. The flared lips of the wheel arches are also powerful. The large arches provide space for the 19-inch (4S/4S Diesel), 20-inch (Turbo) and optional 21-inch alloy wheels. The fact that the Panamera is a four-door coupé and not a conventional saloon is clearer from the rear than from any other perspective. The ‘greenhouse’ – made up of the roof, roof pillars, window surfaces – is supported by a powerful and broad shoulder section. Clearly a Panamera, definitely a sports car. The most prominent components identifying the rear body are, without a doubt, the three-dimensional LED rear lights with integrated four-point brake lights. The rear lights are interconnected by a narrow LED strip. All of these elements together create an unmistakable night design. Integrated seamlessly and elegantly into the boot, which features electric opening and closing as standard, is the extendible rear spoiler that is now finished in body colour. On the Panamera Turbo, the wing also splits as it extends, thereby gaining additional surface area. Terminating the lower rear body is a diffuser into which the dual stainless steel tailpipes of the exhaust system are integrated on the left and right. The Panamera 4S and 4S Diesel are recognised by their round tailpipes, while the Panamera Turbo has trapezoidal tailpipe trims. Porsche operating philosophy – future-based interpretation. The new Panamera exhibits a completely new interior design. In many areas, touch-sensitive surfaces replace classic hard keys, and highresolution displays merge into the interior. In the luxury saloon segment, the digitalisation of the Porsche interior, which began with the 918 Spyder, has reached the next development stage aboard the Panamera in the form of the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit. From the low seat position typical of sports cars, drivers not only see a fascinating front-end landscape of the car’s wings and powerdome, but also two 7-inch displays that are placed directly in the driver’s line of sight for ideal ergonomics. Located in the middle of these two displays is the tachometer, which is still an analogue instrument. Meanwhile, the gearshift console between the driver and the front passenger is dominated by the 12.3-inch
NEWS
touchscreen of the next generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The driver and front passenger can configure this display individually. Naturally, this is integrated into the PCM with features including navigation, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and a new voice control system that responds to natural language input. The PCM area – with its high-end, high-resolution display – transitions harmoniously into the black panel concept of the centre console with a shift-by-wire gear selector for the PDK. A new control panel with touch-sensitive switches on the centre console enables intuitive control of various functions. Even the louvres of the central air vent are electrically adjusted by touch-sensitive sliders. Rear passengers can control air conditioning and infotainment functions using the fourzone automatic climate control system which is standard on all Australian models. Rennsport Odyssee 2016 – Part 2 Second Half – Days 5 &Article 6 and Photos by Michael Paine Well, the first 4 days of our Porsche Rennsport Australia Odyssee for 2016 was absolutely fantastic – a great drive to Sydney, lots of cleaning and buffing of the Turbo S for the Show ‘n Shine, and then Rennsport – the crowds, the atmosphere, the food, the racing – and the Porsches! Day 5 As part of entry in the Rennsport Show ‘n Shine, entrants were asked to return their Porsches on the Sunday in the same compound for another days display for the expected larger crowd – and to give the winners their due reward of proudly showing off their magnificent trophies and cars. A 9am arrival time meant a nice sleep-in. No problem, Saturday closed in glorious sunshine, the car was pretty clean, and another day of Rennsport – what’s not to like! But, Sunday morning I get up at 7am, look out the hotel window and …..……rain! What! …… Uughh. A challenge – no worries. I said to Deb “Same drill as yesterday when we arrive at the track” or words to that effect (it is a family mag!). So we arrive at Sydney Motorsport Park about 9am in continuous drizzly rain, park in the compound, and break out the cleaning gear – collapsible bucket, chamois, rags, sponge and micro-fibre cloths – and start the ritual to and fro from the tap, bucket replenished, car wiped, chamois and buffed one bit at a time. Although today, I’m not doing the wheel wells. Mid-morning the drizzle started to clear and clouds broke up – perhaps another fine afternoon? I was just about done when a team from Code Clean, perhaps taking pity, offered to buff the Turbo S with their great products – they had been doing some cars earlier in the morning and I was watching from afar with interest. As you’ll know, concours tragics have cleaning rituals that are not changed without considerable thought! So I thought, hmmm thought again, and then thought some more and then decided to give them a go. As the Turbo S paint was refurbished about a year ago, it was just a matter of a quick buff with their instant detailer. It worked a treat – glossy and a deep shine! Their products are excellent and now on my detailing ritual. Thanks Thoroughly chuffed knowing the car was sparkling, the weather had cleared and the sun came out, Deb and I strolled around the event activities again, spotted and few PCQ members and/or their cars, spotted the famous “Urban Outlaw” Magnus Walker and then headed over to the main straight grandstand for the Sunday afternoon racing – the best of the weekend – track had settled, drivers into their rhythm, Porsche . We enjoyed lunch and watched all the very best Porsche Racing, including The GT3 Cup Challenge the Regularity Divisions 1 (up to 1990) and Division 2 (post 1990), the Porsche Carrera Cup and Historic racing. Racing excitement was top notch and continued throughout the afternoon – more reports on the motorsport side of Rennsport was included in our last club magazine.

We were also treated to an Iconic Porsche Demonstration with a Group 5 935-77 taking competitive laps with the 1996 and 1997 Le Mans winning LMP1-98 and the latest 911 GT3R twice over the afternoon. The final race finished close to 5pm so we headed back to the display area – via the pit area to find it nearly deserted – its amazing how quickly racing teams and competitors can pack up and be on their way! Same with the Show ‘n Shine – all nearly gone. No matter, we packed up and took our time back to the hotel. Last meal out was a quiet affair ready for the long drive home. Day 6 Would you believe it – fine sunny weather greeted us at dawn for our drive back to Brisbane. We left at 6.30am and made our way through excrutiating traffic headed north towards the Newcastle Motorway. Traffic in Sydney peak hour is something else – its non-

stop, very slow, but pretty relaxed all said. It took over an hour again to hit Hornsby and the start of the Motorway. Refuelled at Raymond Terrace – fuel consumption not bad, we were averaging now just under 10L/100km, so pretty good considering the Sydney peak traffic. NSW fuel prices reasonable compared to Brisbane as well. The Turbo S was again running like clockwork - reeling in the mles, taking the road surface with ease – it really is a good continental cruiser! We took a rest stop on the dual carriage motorway section near Taree mid-morning – well appointed with facilities for a driver reviver, a few caravans around and backpackers in beat up vans. Lunch was norths of Coffs Harbour between roadworks after we had refuelled for the final leg home. No real incidents except a couple of drivers pulled out in front of us just south

of Ballina – one from the right and one from the left ( a rest stop). We had headlights on but it was sunset twilight so distance/speed judgment may have been a problem for them – the PCCB were tested here and boy, do they work – we pulled up pretty quickly, straight and without fuss, avoiding any collisions. We decided a stop to let them get 50km ahead would be smart. The rest of the trip was dual motorway at good speed and we arrived home early evening – the whole trip was under 2000km and the car was exceptional. What an Odyssee!! Not long after we got home, Porsche Australia sent us an e-mail thanking us for our participation in the event and suggesting there may be another Porsche Rennsport Australia in 2019 – fantastic, can’t wait, - where’s my chamois, bucket and buffers!!

Day Drive with the 718 Boxster
Article by Derek van Renen
I have read and followed the announcements about the new Boxster/Cayman with great interest as this is probably the only modern Porsche I can afford and did not want an opportunity to slip by to sample the latest incarnation of a model range that has become a mainstay in the Porsche line-up. Dave Marshall of Porsche Centre Brisbane kindly arranged for us to have the car for Sunday and a cruise to the Sunshine Coast hinterland sounded like the ideal territory to put it through its paces. The car we had was a baseline Boxster with the new 2.0L turbocharged engine with Sports Chrono, PDK gearbox, light design package, the GT sport steering wheel and finished in agate grey metallic. The first change I noticed about the new 718 range is the sharp lines on the front fenders and the cleaner look of the front end. It is distinctively different to the outgoing 981 and looks unlike any other car in the old Porsche line-up. From the rear the wider 235 20 wheels and tyres give it a muscular look, with the roof down it sits really low and wide. The interior does not look that much different and Boxster / Cayman owners will hardly notice the detailed changes, except for the new infotainment screen that dominates the centre console. The standard car has the outgoing S brakes and uprated

steering components borrowed from the new 991 Turbo, as well as rear suspension from the GT4! All these changes to the suspension promise good things for the handling and feel of the car. And then there is of course the new 4 cylinder turbocharged engines, the standard Boxster a 2.0L with a single turbo and the S a 2.5L with variable vane turbo geometry to control boost pressure at low engine speeds. Enthusiasts of the brand would now have all sighed in unison to question why we need 4 cylinder engines in our beloved Porsche cars and the last time a flat was seen used in a midengine Porsche was in the 914? Unfortunately rule makers in the US is putting a lot of pressure on manufacturers to lower CO2 emissions and directly related to that fuel consumption; the only credible way to do this is to design smaller high efficiency engines i.e. boosted engines to artificially improve their volumetric efficiency. Luckily for us the engineers at Porsche have now mastered 4 cylinder engines, and not too long ago Porsche was crowned the winner at Le Mans using a 4 cylinder 2.0L engine pumping out in excess of 500HP! Enough said on changes to the new model range, how does it drive? Early Sunday morning we headed for the Samford Valley and enough back roads to explore the new cars
NEWS
capabilities, but had to get through the city first. With the new mode selection in normal mode the car pulls strong without being provoked and the ride comfortable enough to soak up the bumps. As we went through Ferny Hills and the road started winding through the trees the roof was opened to experience a Boxster as it was intended. It was still damp and slightly cold from all the rain on Saturday, but did not dampen our spirits as the mode selector was also changed to Sport mode. The new 2.0L turbo coming alive as my right foot demanded more load from the engine and the sound of the new flat four growling deeper and now giving away its racing heritage. The sound of the engine under load definitely one I can get used to! We had breakfast in Samford Village and more time to admire the new lines before heading to Dayboro and taking a wrong turn that took us to the Bruce Highway, something I wanted to avoid. A short trip at what seemed like walking pace and back on more winding roads through Caboolture, Woodford on our way to King Ludwig’s German restaurant for lunch. With so many back roads to explore I was determined not to land on any road with more than one lane in any direction, luckily we found the road to Mount Mee this time and what a blast. As
commented earlier the new 718 Boxster has been built for one thing in mind, and that is having fun with the top down on great winding roads! I consider myself to be a typical Porsche enthusiast and since the demise of air cooled engines in 911’s I complained a lot about the direction Porsche has gone into with watercooling, PDK gearboxes, rear wheel steering and the list go on, however difficult it is to accept these changes Porsche are at the forefront of automotive engineering and time has shown us that they keep on amazing us with what can be achieved. The 718 range is no exception, I could not predict before experiencing it myself that I would desire a new car so much.

PROPERTY DIRECT HOUSE 236 Montague Road West End,Qld
While some of our little band Neil & Kris – Wayne & Rene (Dalby PCQ members) Anthony & Orr and Sandy & Myself met Saturday morning at the Coffee Club at Jimboomba; Tim & Rachel Place met up with Stan Adler & his partner Jill at Varsity Lakes, and we drove from two directions to meet up in Casino for lunch. Our drive was via Beaudesert – Rathdowney – Mt. Barney – Summerland Way through to Kyogle and onto Casino for lunch; while Tim & Stan travelled via The Old Tick Gate Road down to Murwillumbah across to Uki onto Kyogle and then down to Casino where we met up at the Cecil Hotel for a great Pub-lunch. Over lunch, we shared some great stories, had quite a few laughs and were amazed by our really nice and generous servings we got to enjoy for lunch. An hour later we decided to get back onto the Summerland Way to make our way onto Grafton – even though it was slightly wet, we made our way through South Grafton then onto Orara Way; which allowed us to have some fun through the back country on our way down to Coffs Harbour. We arrived at Opel Cove Resort at the same time as several PCNSW members had arrived from their trip up from Sydney. Stan made introductions and another PCQ couple Peter and Kathy who had driven straight to Coffs from Brisbane, along with several other PCNSW members came over nad introduced themselves which got the whole event of to a great start. We got to relax with a walk around the complex until the rains came in, which allowed most of us to catch up with a coffee and talk about the fun we’d all enjoyed on the drive down. We agreed to meet back in the bar at about 6.15pm for pre-dinner drinks – when we arrived a lot of the PCNSW ‘crew’ were in place so with introductions made, conversations flowed which lead to a great night. At about 7.00pm we headed up to the Christmas-in-July PCNSW party, where Roxanna Saba PCNSW Club President made us all feel very welcome. There were 86 members from PCNSW and 14 PCQ members in attendance on the night. Tables were ‘sit-where-you-like’ so some of us decided to sit with some of the PCNSW members to allow some good ‘inter-club’ banter. The guest speaker was a local rally-driver who got to experience the 2015 Coates Hire World Rally at Coffs Harbour in a ‘works Mini-John Cooper-Special’ – very entertaining. Later in the night PCNSW announced a ‘lucky-

Most of the PCNSW ‘crew’ were going on a social drive on Sunday leaving from Opel Resort about 8.15am to drive Dorrigo for morning tea, then via the Armidale-Dorrigo road onto Grafton for lunch and back to Opel Resort for a BBQ dinner Sunday night before heading back to Sydney on Monday. This seem to encourage a lot of members to leave their Christmas party about 10.30pm – but be rest assured the PCQ ‘crew’ partied on, we had a lot of laughs and partied on until the staff had to close the bar at mid-night. We all met again for breakfast about 8.15 am saw the PCNSW ‘crew’ – about 30 cars head out for their Sunday social drive – we decided to hit the road about 9.30am and back track Saturdays run and stopping in Kyogle at the Commercial Hotel for Lunch.
food we headed home via Uki- Murwillumbah and M-1 to make our way home. Even with some heavy rains and some bumpy roads we all had a great time. PCNSW President and Social director have extended an invitation to PCQ to attend several of their events over the coming 12 months – which will include the PCNSW Concourse – combined PCNSW and PCQ social weekend away – combined track-day events so keep an eye out. One event we were advised for 2106-17 is at the Australian Porsche Presidents meeting in October will be discussing, how nad where to hold the Porsche Nationals in 2017. Keep an eye out on the future PCQ Social calendars as its looking like to be a great couple of years of combined Porsche clubs sporting and social events.

United Arab Emirates Porsche Club Vice President Shahid A Baloch with his 991 GT3 RS
The 911 Gods must have been shining on me. I checked our flight status and we were cruising into Dubai at 911 kmph for our family holiday. This was an omen that it was going to be a fun WIYG experience! I had pre organised to do a story on the UAE’s Porsche Club President Karim Al-Azhari’s amazing collection before we left Australia. This included: Carrera GT 2005, 996 GT2 2003, 993 Turbo 1998, 993 Turbo 1997, 993 Turbo 1997, 965 Turbo 3.6, 965 Turbo 1991, 930 SE “Flachbau” Turbo Cabriolet 1989, 930 Targa 1988, 911 WTL Cabriolet 1986, 1977 911 Turbo Carrera 3.0 And also a Mercedes SLS Black-Series, Mc Laren Mercedes SLR Cabriolet, Lamborghini LP640, AMG E63, Mercedes 190 Evolution II, Ferrari F355 Spyder. Unfortunately, Karim had to cancel due to other commitments, but Vice President Shahid Baloch graciously agreed to show me his cars at the last minute.
I must say it was a little daunting negotiating the narrow down ramps of the carpark in a wide body RS worth $387K (AUD)! Luckily it was PDK (as they all are) so changing gears in a left hand drive car was one less thing I had to worry about. We negotiate the speed humps onto the street and Shahid plants the foot in the C4S. I have a huge grin on my face as I follow; I can’t believe I’m driving a 991 GT3 RS in Dubai!!
“I have a huge grin on my face as I follow; I can’t believe I’m driving a 991 GT3RS in Dubai!”
Shahid picked me up at our hotel in his 991 GT3 RS and we drove back at speed to collect the 993 C4S. I had not driven in a current RS before so the ride through Dubai was a real treat. But it got a whole lot better in a hurry when he handed me the keys to the beast and said follow me! Shahid lives in an apartment with the cars being kept on the 6th floor of a

parking garage so we headed out to find a location to photograph the beauties.
We find a little desert area not yet built on and get out of the cars to arrange them for the shoot. Its 45 degrees and after arriving from Melbourne’s winter I’m really feeling the heat, so we work quickly to get the shots.
The RS has aircon which was set at 17.5 (the minimum) but as a 993 owner I know that Shahid must be feeling it as aircon was never a strong point in any air cooled model. Besides being VP Shahid also organises all the Club’s drive events thought the mountains and deserts of the seven Emirates.
The amazing veiw (from our Jameira Beach Hotel room) of the 7 star Burj Al Arab. It cost 7.8 Billion to build and is the worlds third tallest hotel; needless to say, no thongs allowed!

A Corporate Banker originally from Pakistan he joined the UAE Porsche club 16 years ago shortly after purchasing his first Porsche; a 1996 993 C2 manual in Aventura Green. It was previously owned by an Emirates Airline Captain and only had 17,000 km on the clock. Shahid joined the committee soon after joining the club and became Treasurer before becoming Vice President in 2005.

The 993 was used a competition car with upgrades including: the suspension, club sport wheels, exhaust, air filter, chip and adding a pair of Sparco race seats. He kept the car for eight years in parallel ownership of a Cayenne before purchasing a 997 GT3 RS in orange he referred to as the “Tangerine Dream”. His Current cars are a similar theme; this time a classic 993 C4S in midnight blue and a current 991 GT3 RS in Lava Orange. Like the first 993, the C4S (American spec) purchased 3 years ago is a late 1997 manual Varioram model. This time in midnight blue with tan interior. Shahid loves the 993 and says this one is a keeper! The 991 GT3 RS was purchased brand new. It looks stunning in Lava orange, but as Sharid arrived at the hotel to pick me up I noticed the paint looked matt and he confirmed that it was a wrap. It is a perfect match to the original colour except for the matt finish. If you are going to do high speed touring in this country a full wrap is a cost saving alternative to respraying the car after a few years and keeps its value through originality. So what’s in store for Shahid’s Garage in the future? He would like a Cayman GT4, 997 GT2 or a 997 GT3 4.0 if money was no object. He also adds that if the 991 GT2 came out in a manual he would swap 991 GT3 RS in a heartbeat.

The local Porsche dealership is the largest single dealer in the world selling over 2000 cars a year with three floors of showrooms and over 60 cars on display at any one time. With its own Porsche Classic service section Sharid and Karim get all their cars serviced there. The Porsche Club of UAE was formed in 1998 and has 2000 active members. With a population of 9.5 million (UAE’s total population of which 1.4 million are Emirati citizens and 7.8 million are expatriates) it puts its the club membership on par per head of population with the PCV! Thanks again Shahid for letting me drive your GT3 RS, I had a ball!

An in-depth look at: The 16 Porsches Jerry Seinfeld is selling on Amelia Island If you are a fan of Porsche, and you’ve been anywhere near the internet in the last month, it’s unlikely that you haven’t heard about the upcoming Seinfeld collection grouping of cars coming up for auction at the Gooding & Co. Amelia Island sale later this week. Many sites have shown you the list of cars, but no other site out there is showing you the in-depth behind-thescenes of each Porsche in the lot list. So here we go, a car-by-car dissection of the cars Jerry is selling this week. Gooding & Co. have set the preauction estimate for the entire Seinfeld collection between $25 and $32+ Million US Dollars. If you want one, you’d better warm up your bidding paddle hand now! Lot 031 - 1966 Porsche 911 (Est. $200,000 - 300,000) or d f 0 US l So ,00 75 $2
repute, who is as enthusiastic as his tastes are eclectic. More importantly, he has been shepherd to many significant Porsches over the years, including a number of 356 racing cars, and most recently the one-and-only 901 Cabriolet prototype. Vernis recently had this to say about the car: “An amazing, low mileage survivor, it’s every bit as nice as it appears in the photos.” Vernis then moved the car on to Seinfeld’s ownership in 2005. To this day, the 911 features fewer than 19,000 miles, and is a ‘survivor’ in the truest sense of the word. The 911 retains original paint, interior, glass, rubber trim, the correct numbered engine, and original May 1966 date-coded wheels. Also included with the sale is a proper jack, tool roll, and operator’s manual. For a 911 this nice, the price honestly seems just a little on the low side. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one a bit over the $300,000 high estimate. Lot 032 - 2011 Porsche 911 (997) Speedster (Est. $300,000 - 400,000) r fo S l d 00 U o S 0,0 4 $4
Chassis: 304182 Engine: 907419 Everything about this 911 screams originality. It’s been through five owners, and each of them has taken better care of this time-capsule car than the last. Every inch of this car is preserved as it was in the middle-1960s, from the really important bits like the running gear and paint down to the less important, but no less impressive original interior components and window seals. This 911 was originally imported through Porsche Car Southwest in San Antonio, Texas, and sold through Vern Hagestad Motor Co., a VW-Porsche dealership located on West Colfax Avenue in Denver, Colorado. The original owner was James E. Pickens. It is thanks to Mr. Pickens that the car remains in such good condition, as he owned the car until the early 1980s and took impressive care to keep the car as original as possible. When Pickens finally sold the car on in 1983, it was purchased by Porsche nut and high-level enthusiast, Mr. Tom Scott, a fellow Coloradan. Mr. Scott knew immediately that the car was highly original, and entered it in three consecutive Porsche Parade concours from 1984 to 1986, winning both ‘Best in Class’ and ‘Best in Division’ each time it was shown. Scott sold the car to Dr. William E. Jackson, also hailing from Denver, and known for his exceptional taste in Porsches. At the height of his Porsche collection, Dr. Jackson had several examples telling Porsche’s history, and this car was among them. For 8 years, this astoundingly original 1966 911 sat among 4-cam Spyders and Turbo Terrors and even a rare Gmünd Coupe. In 1999, Dr. Jackson moved this gorgeous Sand Beige car into the ownership of Mr. Myron Vernis of Akron, OH. Vernis is a collector of some 46

I’ve never really had much love for the 997 generation Speedster. Sure it was a lowproduction car, and it had some pretty unique parts, but underneath the questionably pretty bodywork, this is essentially a normal Carrera GTS. My personal tastes aside, this is a rare and desirable car in the market these days, and have been trading for much more than the original purchase price pretty much since production ended. It was among the priciest 997 generation cars ever sold, and makes for a great addition to a collection, especially when sat next to a 356 Speedster, an 89 Carrera Speedster, and a 964 Speedster. This car has been a part of the Seinfeld collection since new, five years ago, and features only 4,844 miles on the odometer. This car looks just like it is brand new, and has a whole lot of interesting bits included. This 997 Speedster is number 009 of the 356 examples produced and one of just 100 imported for the US market. According to the factory window sticker, which is included with the sale, this Speedster was specified with Porsche Exclusive Customization Packages DZM and DZP and is finished in Pure Blue, a color developed specifically for the Speedster and the only shade available on the model other than white. This car also features a few Seinfeld-specific bits that Porsche included for the actor/comedian, like the GT2 RS-style bare carbon front trunk lid and copious bare carbon interior trim bits. This is a unique piece with a unique story.
Lot 034 - 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder (Est. $5,000,000 - 6,000,000) or S d f 00 U l So 5,0 ,33 $5
Chassis: 550-0060 Engine: 90063 Transmission: 10051 This might be the world’s most original 550 Spyder, featuring matching numbers and just over 10,000 original miles from new in 1955 (an average of only 164 miles per year!), and having only passed through four owners in all that time. This is a truly unique opportunity to buy a completely correct iteration of one of Porsche’s most iconic sports cars, and should be treated as such. This car is quite valuable, and the fact that it has never been used as a racing car makes it all the more unique. This 550 was produced in the summer of 1955, painted blue with white tail stripes, and trimmed in beige vinyl. The car was fitted at the factory with engine 90063, a typ-547 Fuhrmann four-cam, and a four-speed transaxle numbered 10051, and then test-driven by Herr Mimler before being delivered to the US. The original owner isn’t known, in fact not much of the car’s history is known prior to 1963, but from then on, the car has only passed through three highly reputable hands. 1963 was when Lou Hilton picked up the car at a used car lot in Worcester, Mass, and added it to his stable of cars. While little is known about the Spyder’s first few years, in the early 1960s a young car enthusiast named Lou Hilton discovered the blue Porsche on a used-car lot in Worcester, Massachusetts, and added it to his growing stable. Hilton owned planes and assembled a small personal collection of European automobiles that included a Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio, a BMW 507, and a MercedesBenz 300 SL Gullwing, among others. The 550 Spyder, however, was among the crown jewels of his collection. During his ownership, the 550 was repainted in its original colors, likely in the late 1960s. The second owner, Joel Horvitz of Massachusetts, was a longtime collector and founding member of the 356 Registry. Horvitz was among the many Porsche enthusiasts who admired and longed to own Mr. Hilton’s 550 Spyder. He had purchased his first four-cam powered car some 20 years earlier, and had spent nearly 20 years searching for a 550 to call his own when 550-0060 came into his collection. It was in 1998, after actively pursuing the car for

many years, that Horvitz managed to convince Hilton to sell him his prized Spyder. In an article published in Hemmings Sports & Exotic magazine, Joel’s son Brian describes his father’s love for 550-0060 and his particular appreciation for the car’s authentic character. “Since he bought his first 356 in the early ’70s, my father had a number of very special cars; however, none represented his passion for collecting as completely as his Spyder,” Brian Horvitz said. “He had been after this very car since 1981, and realized his dreams in 1998. He knew that he wanted a Spyder, but I tend to think that no other Spyder would have done. This is not a pristine concours vehicle – the paint is cracked, the upholstery isn’t perfect. What it has is that palpable feeling of history. You stand next to it and you imagine yourself at the factory in 1955 watching the car being assembled.” Mr. Horvitz, sadly succumbed to the effects of cancer in 2006, and in early 2007 Jerry, with the help of Alex Finigan [Paul Russell and Company], acquired the 550 Spyder from Mr. Horvitz’s estate. Mr. Finigan, who has known and helped maintain 550-0060 since the mid-1970s, is among the car’s many admirers. When the car arrived in Mr. Seinfeld’s collection, it had covered just 9,896 miles from new. Over the past nine years it has accrued less than 500 additional miles and benefited from attentive care and maintenance in the hands of two respected Porsche specialists – Joe Cavaglieri and Adrian Gang. During its time in the Seinfeld Collection, the Spyder has been exhibited on rare occasions. In 2009, it was featured in the Porsche Exhibition Hall at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and in 2012 it was loaned to Porsche for a special display in Pebble Beach during the Concours weekend. Today, the car remains in exceptionally original condition, wearing its decades-old blue paint and retaining its wonderful, well-preserved upholstery – a special ribbed vinyl material with a patina and character that would be impossible to duplicate. The elemental cockpit features the correct banjo steering wheel and three large VDO gauges, with their elegant and distinctive green typeface. Under the front compartment one finds the patinated aluminum fuel tank, with original felt under the securing straps and a VDO sending unit dated February 1955. In the engine bay, the matching-numbers engine and transaxle are present, as is the original chassis number stamping and rarely seen Karosserie Wendler Reutlingen body tag. In each and every area of the Spyder magnificent details abound, from the proper horsehair weather stripping to the cracked white paint of the tail stripes. It is extremely rare to find a 550 with this kind of originality. Many of these cars have had body damage, blown an engine, or suffered some other kind of racing-related damage. Aside from the ages old repaint, this car is essentially in as-used condition over all these years. This might be the only one left in this kind of shape, making it highly desirable among collectors and possibly even Porsche. The price is among the highest I’ve ever seen for a 550 Spyder, but would not be out of sorts for a car of this caliber.
Lot 035 - 1957 Porsche 356A Speedster (Est. $500,000 - 600,000) r fo S l d 00 U o S 2,0 8 $6
Chassis: 83124 Engine: 64919 This Speedster was imported through Hoffman Motors, as most 356s were at the time, and was used for many years by the second owner in California. The second owner acquired the car in nearly new condition as a used car in 1958, and used the car regularly for nearly two decades. After 20 years of hard use, the Speedster was put away until 2009 mothballed in storage. In 2009, the owner of the car called Tom Scott (yes, the same Tom Scott) to see if he would like to purchase the car. Scott worked a deal and the car became his. It didn’t take long for Scott to start restoring the car to concours quality. Taking the car down to metal, and then repainting the car in original aquamarine blue was a great decision, as the car looks pristine these days. The car was recreated to original specs by a number of excellent shops, with Victor Miles handling the rechroming, North Hollywood Speedometer redoing the gauges, and Auto Weave handling the upholstery, top, side curtains, and carpets. The car was completed in time for the Porsche Parade Concours in 2010, where it received First In Class honors in the 356 class, and Best of Show in the ‘Restoration’ group. Beyond that, the car received 299.3 points, which remains a record for most points earned by a restored car. Mr. Seinfeld purchased the car from Tom Scott after the concours win later in 2010. Today, the car retains its original matching-numbers engine, stamped body panels, as well as early 1957 date-coded components such as the fuel tank, VDO sending unit, and Sudrad wheels. It is offered with a concours-quality tool kit, jack, and handbook set, including the owner’s manual, supplemental Speedster driver’s manual, and Reutter and Porsche coachwork pamphlets. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a copy of the original factory Kardex also accompany the sale. Lot 036 - 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR IROC “Revson” (Est. $1,200,000 1,500,000) r fo US l d 000 o S 0, ,31 $2
Chassis: 911 460 0016 Engine: 6840034 This IROC Porsche is one of only 15 built for the 1974 season of racing, and was raced in-period by Peter Revson, Cale Yarborough, Gordon Johncock, George Follmer, Elliot ForbesRobinson, and Milt Minter. The car features a well
documented history and a provenance unlike any other. The car is beautifully restored, consistently well maintained, and believe it or not, retains full road legal registration. Created specifically for Roger Penske’s genius IROC series, this RSR was used by 12 of the top drivers from four main disciplines of racing: Peter Revson, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Denis Hulme from Formula 1; Mark Donohue and George Follmer from SCCA; Bobby Unser, A.J. Foyt, Gordon Johncock, and Roger McCluskey from USAC; and Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, and David Pearson from NASCAR. Penske was already in good standing with Porsche, having won a couple of SCCA Can Am championships in 917s, so he and star driver Mark Donohue worked to develop this IROC iteration of Porsches RSR (essentially a hybrid of 1973’s 2.8 RSR and 1974’s 3.0 RSR, using parts from both). This car is the earliest chassis number of all the IROC RSRs, and was originally fitted with engine #6840021 (no longer with the car). After the RSR served its time in the IROC championship, the car was sold to Grey Egerton for use in a number of Trans Am and IMSA GT races throughout the 74 and 75 seasons under the Pharr Yarns team name. The car won an IMSA race at Laguna Seca, and featured well in a number of other races, grabbing a few podiums and class wins along the way. After the car had served its life as a racer, Egerton sold it to famed SoCal dealer Vasek Polak. Polak fitted the car with an earlier 2.8 liter engine, but unfortunately the car served most of its time with Vasek in static storage. It wasn’t until Vasek’s death in 1997 that the car was resurrected from Polak’s storage rooms by the next owner, Tom Linton. Linton immediately set about restoring the car to its original Yellow IROC RSR livery, and the car was taken down to bare metal. The fenders had been widened to regular 3.0 RSR spec while in Egerton’s care, but the original tub was intact and most of the sheetmetal was as original. The engine currently fitted to the car was originally in the Sahara Beige IROC RSR, as the original engine is whereabouts unknown. Linton competed in Rennsport I and II with RSR 911 460 0016. In 2005, Mr. Seinfeld purchased the car and continued its use both on street and track. Over the years, the car has been maintained well by the incomparable Adrian Gang. It is possible that this was the first IROC RSR built, as well as the first 3.0 liter 911 built, and has significant driver history, making this a unique collector piece. Chassis: WP0EB0915KS173287 Engine: 64K05848 This is an extremely low-mile Speedster, with only about 3,800 miles on the chassis. This Grand Prix White beauty could be one of the bestpreserved Carrera Speedsters remaining, and could be an excellent addition to any collection. Everything about it screams classic from the low cut windshield to the wide Turbo-look bodywork, making the Carrera Speedster a dearly held piece among Porsche fanatics. As noted in the original owner’s manual, the Porsche was delivered to George Follmer Porsche in Montclair, California, and sold to original owners Richard and Linda Daniel. Jerry Seinfeld purchased the Speedster in 2013 with approximately 3,400 miles on the odometer and has enjoyed the Porsche sparingly since. Believed to retain its original paint and interior and presenting essentially as a new car, this Speedster is equipped with desirable options such as a limited-slip differential, electric sport seats, Blaupunkt Reno cassette player, and a luggage compartment in place of the rear seats. This particular Speedster is not equipped with the optional, and common, air-conditioning, which reduces weight and improves the aesthetics of the engine compartment. The Porsche’s factoryapplied VIN stickers are visible throughout and underline the highly authentic presentation that comes from decades of careful stewardship. Factory documentation originally delivered with this Speedster remains with the car, including manuals and the original Speedster supplement, along with an accompanying letter to Speedster owners from Porsche Cars North America. Also included are the original tool kit, space-saver spare tire, and its corresponding air pump.
World Sports Prototype Challenge series for the 1990 and 1991 seasons. The rear bodywork is much different from what you normally expect to see on a 962, and instead of the integrated rear wing, this car features a much larger separate rear wing, which creates a lot more downforce than the earlier cars, which were optimized for streamlined top speeds. Other changes for 1990 included higher output engines, and improved radiator flow guides. Joest was the de facto factory-supported team after the factory ‘officially’ withdrew from competition following the 1988 season, making this one of the best prepared 962Cs in the world at the time. This car was sponsored by Blaupunkt and campaigned as Joest Racing’s primary car for the 1990 season, with former Porsche works team member Bob Wollek and German F3 champion Frank Jelinski as its drivers. According to Joest Racing’s records, 962-012 raced in all nine rounds of the 1990 World Sports-Prototype Championship season; its best result was a 4th Place finish at Silverstone. At the end of the season, Joest Racing placed 5th in the team championship standings, with 8.5 points, while 962-012’s drivers, Wollek and Jelinski, tied for 13th in the drivers’ championship. In 1991, 962-012 participated in the European Interserie Cup with Sachs sponsorship. In three of these four Interserie outings, the 962C was driven by “John Winter” – the pseudonym often used by German businessman and racer Louis Krages, who had been part of the Joest Racing Team during its victories at Le Mans in 1985 and Daytona in 1991. In 2001, while part of Joest Racing’s private collection, 962-012 was restored to as-new condition and fitted with the famous Singerdeveloped Doppelflügel and revised bodywork. Five years later, Jerry Seinfeld acquired 962-012 directly from Joest Racing. Over the past decade, the 962C has been carefully maintained by Joe Cavaglieri and has seen only occasional track use during private outings at Willow Springs Raceway. This is your chance to own what is likely one of the fastest and highly developed 962s in private hands. This would make an excellent vintage racer, and would make a good effort of cleaning up the class at a Monterey Historics event, especially if you were to hire a hotshoe factory racer to do the driving for you. In 1986, Mr. Clay sold this Carrera 2 to Robert Pass of St. Louis, and the car was then acquired by Richard Freshman of Los Angeles, California. Invoices in the car’s file prove that the engine and transaxle were overhauled by famed fourcam specialist Bill Doyle of Rennwagen Motor Company. In 2002, the car was sold, along with Freshman’s other cars and rare parts at auction, and moved into the collection of a Swiss Porsche enthusiast. From there, the Porsche was exported to the UK, where it was an integral part of two prominent private collections and benefited from maintenance by leading specialists Jim Stokes Workshops Ltd. and DK Engineering. In 2008, the Carrera 2 was acquired by Cavallino Holdings, and over the next few years was serviced by Canepa in Scotts Valley, California. Since joining The Jerry Seinfeld Collection, the Carrera 2 has enjoyed regular exercise and care. According to an invoice on file, it was carefully detailed and mechanically sorted by Southern California 356 specialist Jim Rinker. This car features many of the best options for a 2 liter Carrera at the time, including the Sport II “Sebring” exhaust with matching rear muffler skirt, large long-range fuel tank with external filler, KPZ-style riveted steel-center-aluminumbarrel competition wheels, aluminum doors and lids, a number light mounted on the passenger’s door, GT bucket racing seats, a roll bar, and Nardi steering wheel. This has got to be one of the most exciting and fun-to-drive 356 models ever produced, and with only perhaps 24 356s fitted with the 587/2 engine, this is a highly rare opportunity to purchase.

For a few years after, the car floated around Europe with a few undocumented short-term owners, or so it is believed, before transferring to the US and into the ownership of famed Porsche collector and racer, Mr. Grady Clay. At the time, Mr. Clay also owned a number of significant Porsches, including a 904, an RS60, a Carrera 2 Cab, numerous 911s, and a handful of spare four-cam engines.

This chassis was originally fitted with a Typ 587/1 engine (number 97175) that produced 130 horsepower, but Porsche had just introduced the Typ 587/2 engine that made use of 160 horses. Porsche removed an engine from one of their 904 prototypes (904-003) and installed it into the back of Mr. Politzer’s Carrera 2. Only 33 examples of the 587/2 engine are believed to have been built, but I can only imagine how much fun it would be in the back of a 356.

This 356 is the ultimate iteration of the chassis, featuring one of the best engines Porsche produced at the time, and certainly one of the most exciting engines Porsche has ever produced. Porsche moved the engine into a potential early 2000s attack at LMP racing. The project died for a number of reasons, which you can read about more in-depth here. After the LMP2000 project was killed off, the engine sat around the race shop waiting for something to go in. It was only a few years later when Porsche realized it would be perfect for a production supercar While Dr. Wiedeking did not initially support Porsche’s new race car program, he wasn’t blind to the competitive nature of the production car business, and when it became apparent that there would be a slate of new sports cars coming from rivals at Aston Martin and MercedesBenz, among others, Dr. Wiedeking took action. Porsche decided to build a top-line sports car, and its engineers were given no restrictions in its development as long as the vehicle demonstrated the design and engineering might that made Porsche such a fabled marque. While no currently existing parts were mandated for use in the Carrera GT design, one of the first decisions made was to integrate the V-10 engine from the LMP 2000 car into the new model, a logical choice given that much of the competition department for Porsche was now working on the car’s development. Two Carrera GT prototypes were built, both relying heavily on Porsche’s racing parts bin. Suspension components and the gearbox from the GT1-98 were mated to the V-10 engine and a space frame was built out of high-strength aluminum. Porsche installed 15 carbon ceramic brakes behind newly designed, center-lock, aluminum 19″ and 20″ wheels wearing 265 and 335 section-width Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Though intended solely as a concept car, Porsche wanted it to appear as production-ready as possible; therefore, power steering and ABS braking systems were adapted to fit. The styling of Porsche’s new supercar was assigned to a team headed by Harm Lagaay. His task was made difficult by Porsche’s diverse offerings, which didn’t give a clear direction for the exterior design of such an important car – one that would be placed at the top of the model range. “Our brand is not identified by any distinct element such as a radiator grille,” he remarked at the time, “so its personality derives from the way we design the details and handle the surfaces.” Both Porsche’s newly opened Los Angeles-based US design studio and the German styling department were given two days to sketch concepts that would express the qualities necessary for the new Carrera GT. The winning design had to express the extreme aerodynamic and technical requirements of the project while looking as much like a member of the Porsche family as possible. The results can only be described in superlatives, and it is safe to say that the Carrera GT hasn’t aged a day in the 15 years since the design’s birth. Jerry Seinfeld, who was fortunate enough to purchase this piece of Porsche history directly from the company in January 2007, is the car’s sole private owner. Understanding the Prototype’s significance and admiring the unique story of its development, this car has remained on display with the rest of Mr. Seinfeld’s remarkable collection of vehicles.

Please note that the buyer of this car must, as a condition of purchase, agree to certain special undertakings and other terms and conditions which include, among others, that the car may not be driven and that any future sale by such buyer is subject to a right of first refusal in favor of Porsche. As such, the RSR was equipped with the M64/75 engine designed for endurance racing and rated at 340 bhp. This highly tuned 3.8-liter racing engine featured a resonance intake system, six intake plenums with separate throttle valves, a different camshaft profile, and no catalytic converters. Like most RSRs equipped with this engine, this Porsche was specified with the type M50/34 close-ratio six-speed transaxle. Originally finished in Firnweiss (Snow White), the RSR was purposefully equipped with a Premier 75-liter fuel cell, Matter roll-cage, Recaro racing bucket seats, Sabelt harnesses, and MOMO steering wheel, along with an integrated fire system and air jacks. This RSR remains one of the only of its kind to never have entered any kind of competition, and remains more or less in as-delivered condition, and shows only about 3,700 miles on the odometer. As you can expect of such a low-mile car, this 3.8 RSR features its original engine, making it quite desirable among collectors. The Cup 3.8 RSR remained in Japan until it was acquired through a German broker and imported it into the US under the EPA’s racing exclusion for Mr. Seinfeld’s use. This is an extremely rare iteration of an extremely desirable car that was never offered for use in the United States, making it even more rare still on these shores.

Lot 042 - 1958 Porsche 597 Jagdwagen (Est. $350,000 - 425,000) r fo S l d 00 U o S 0,0 3 $3
Following WWII, Germany was heavily demilitarized, but by 1954 was ready to become a more active member of the NATO alliance; thus, the Federal Army needed a transport vehicle. Borgward, Auto Union, and Porsche all entered proposals; Porsche’s Type 597 employed an industrial-spec variant of the proven, and robust, 356 engine, and it utilized four-wheel drive and a stamped steel monocoque chassis for increased rigidity and buoyancy. Though the contract was offered instead to DKW’s Munga, Porsche chose to produce the Type 597 for consumer use under the name Jagdwagen; ‘Hunter’s car’. Only 71 Jagdwagen were produced, and only about 15 of them are thought to still exist, making them quite rare beasts. This is one of the latest production Jagdwagen, and was delivered new to Wendell Fletcher of Pasadena, CA. Fletcher, owner of Fletcher Aviation, and sponsor of Porsche’s Carrera Panamericana Hans Herrmann/550 Spyder effort, received the car in conjunction with his position as Porsche’s North American distributor of industrial engines. Though unrelated to the Jagdwagen, Wendell flew his personal plane the length of the Mexican road race in order to supply the factory race team with parts they needed during the event. In 1987, at the ripe old age of 92, Fletcher decided to sell his Jagdwagen, moving it on to Porsche authority Prescott Kelley. In 1998, Kelley sold the 597 to Cal Turner III, and bought it back from him in 2005. In 2010, Mr. Seinfeld took ownership from Kelley. As it sits, the off-road machine has only traversed 24,000 kilometers from new, and remains absolutely original, still retaining its original vinyl seat covers, fabric top and side curtains. Quite possibly the most original and nicest kept Jagdwagen of the 15 still remaining on the planet. Motorsports North America to match the unique specification used by Brumos for the previous year’s assault on the Grand-Am championship. Changes included increasing the engine capacity to 4.0 liters from the 3.8 liters of the standard car, a Motec data acquisition system with steering and wheel sensors, and a throttle blipping system to help with cleaner downshifts. All five cars were finished in the classic Brumos livery of white with blue and red stripes, along with details that mirrored the 2011 championshipwinning car and special graphics denoting the commemorative model itself. Jerry Seinfeld purchased this car directly from Brumos Porsche as soon as he heard that the special-edition Cup car would be made available to private owners. A testament to the special nature of these vehicles, Brumos hosted a gala dinner on September 20, 2012, for the five new owners at the team’s racing facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Hosted by Brumos Vice President Hurley Haywood and driver Leh Keen, the event was used to present the cars to their respective owners and give each of them a full introduction to the model’s unique features. This limited-edition four-liter GT3 Cup was driven by Jerry Seinfeld at a private track day at Willows Spring Raceway in California and has approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of running time on it from new. The Porsche was recently serviced, is accompanied by its factory operations manual, and is ready for a new steward to enjoy its fantastic appearance and performance. This 917/30 is among the pantheon of iconic Porsche racing cars, and deservedly so. In 1973, Porsche and Penske Racing were busy dominating the SCCA’s Can Am series. I’m sure you know the story of the 917/30, so I won’t bore you with the details, but this car helped cement Porsche as a world power, and essentially ended Can Am as a series because it was so dominant. This exact car was actually sold as part of the Matt Drendel collection in 2012 following Matt’s untimely death, which is when Seinfeld purchased the 12-cylinder turbo monster for a bargain price of only $4.4 million. This chassis, #004, was among the last 917/30s produced. The car was built with the intention of running it in the 1974 season, but unfortunately the rules changes for that season would eliminate the 917/30 from contention (mandating at least 2.74 miles per gallon in a 200 mile race, which couldn’t conceivably be achieved without making the car far too slow). With dreams of 1974 Can Am domination now dead, Porsche sold the chassis to Alan Hamilton, an Australian Porsche importer, who kept the car in his showroom in Melbourne. The car remained in Australia until 1991, occasionally being used for historic races for that period, until it was returned to Stuttgart when Porsche bought out all of the independent Australian dealerships. In Porsche’s care, the previously all-white car was restored and given Penske’s familiar 1973 Sunoco livery. PORSCHE PARADE 50

Porsche used the 917/30 as a show car at events like the Old Timer Grand Prix, and kept the car until 1994, at which point it was sold to American collector David Morse. Prior to the sale, Porsche used their last remaining 917 engine case to give the car a fresh engine rebuild. Upon arrival in the US, Morse set about restoring the 917 properly, and it made its debut in fresh restoration at the 1998 Monterey Historics. In 2001, Morse sold the car to Matt Drendel where it resided among a couple dozen other significant Porsche race and street cars, most of them turbocharged. His first order of business was to display the car at Rennsport Reunion I in July of 2001. Drendel sadly died in 2010, and his entire collection was auctioned off at Ameila Island just four short years ago. This car, at the time, set the record for most expensive Porsche ever sold at auction (which has since been more than doubled). It is safe to say that when it sells this week, it should easily eclipse its 2012 value.
The X85 Flachbau presented here, chassis no. 480403, is believed to be the sole example originally finished in Polar Silver Metallic. As evidenced by its factory production codes, this car was originally optioned with driver’s seat four-way electrical lumbar support, sunroof, 18″ polished three-piece Speedline wheels, wheel caps with the Porsche crest, and draped Classic Grey leather upholstery. According to Mark Smith’s comprehensive Flachbau registry, this car originally commanded a staggering $164,866 MSRP. Completed on December 3, 1993, this Turbo S was sold new through Brumos Porsche and delivered to its first owner, Dr. Randall Riegler of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in February 1994. It is believed that Dr. Riegler retained the Porsche for over two decades and drove it sparingly, finally selling the car in spring 2014. Jerry Seinfeld acquired the Flachbau from a discerning Southern California-based collection, and it has been an important part of the Seinfeld stable since. This Porsche Exclusive-built Turbo S presents in as-new condition, showing just 12,545 miles at the time of cataloguing. As would be expected of a well-kept, low-mileage example, this car remains in outstanding original order and is accompanied by its tool roll, air compressor, and handbook folio, including the owner’s manual, radio manual, dealer directory, and the warranty and customer information book.

Chassis: 84908 Engine: 91015 If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m something of a four-cam fanatic, and this could be one of the most desirable iterations of Carrera ever produced. This Carrera Speedster GS/GT was completed in May 1958, and has been a stunner ever since. The Typ 692/0 four-cam engine in this car (a late production Hirth roller-bearing crank version) is original to the car, though the car is not original to the engine. The engine originally installed in this car, no. 91015, was first installed in another GS/GT Speedster, chassis 84912, sold new to amateur racer Leo Levine. Shortly after taking delivery of his Carrera Speedster, Mr. Levine requested that the Speedster’s four cam be replaced with a pushrod 1600 Super; the Speedster’s 692/0 engine was then placed in 84908 prior to its delivery. The type 692 is essentially identical to the earlier 547 engines, though updated to the V-drive type distributor to make timing a slightly less difficult affair. This is the only known Carrera Speedster to have been finished in Auratium Green, and one of only 13 Speedsters (regardless of type) to feature the color option. As was common with many GT-specification Carreras, this car was sold to its first owner through the Porsche factory rather than through a distributor. While little is known of the Carrera Speedster’s early history, it is believed that the Porsche was exported to the US and subsequently raced in the Midwest through the 1960s and into the early 1970s. About 6 years ago, Nick Clemence, proprietor of European Collectibles in Costa Mesa, California, purchased the Speedster in unrestored condition through a broker who represented the car’s longterm owner. In a letter from European Collectibles provided to Gooding & Company, Mr. Clemence described the condition of 84908 when it arrived at his shop in California. “When I purchased the Speedster the engine was out and in pieces. The body was together, floors were weak and needed to be replaced and the battery box needed replacement as well. The usual dings and dents but the Speedster was mostly complete.” Over the next three years, European Collectibles performed a ground-up restoration, with the intention of returning the Carrera Speedster to original spec. According to Mr. Clemence, no expense was spared in the restoration, and having seen the work they do with my own eyes, I believe that to be the case. Rare OEM and new old stock components were used whenever possible and prominent four cam specialist Bill Doyle of the Rennwagen Motor Company, just around the corner from European Collectibles, was hired to rebuild the engine. Taken down to the metal and carefully prepared, the bodywork
was then repainted in Kardex-proven Auratium Green and the interior trimmed in black vinyl. Befitting the car’s original spec, this Carrera Speedster was generously equipped with all the best period accessories including auxiliary fog lights, a Spyder mirror, sport exhaust, and GT roll bar finished in matching paint. Completed in 2012, the Carrera Speedster made its post-restoration debut at the 24th Annual Dana Point Concours d’Elegance hosted by the 356 Club of Southern California. Judged in the highly competitive Full Concours category, 84908 achieved a remarkable 298.6 score (out of 300) and earned First in Class honors – a testament to the accuracy and quality of the car’s presentation. That August, the Carrera Speedster was displayed in Carmel Valley, California, at the Quail Motorsports Gathering, where it was selected as Best in Class from a field of 59 postwar sports cars. Acquired by Jerry Seinfeld in late 2012, the 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster has been a prized fixture in the collection ever since. Though it has been regularly exercised and enjoyed on weekend drives, it remains in exquisite concours-quality condition in all respects, and has benefited from further attention by noted four-cam specialist Adrian Gang. Significantly, the hood and deck lid are both stamped with the last three digits of the chassis number (908) and the engine type and serial number stampings (692/0 and 91015, respectively) match the factory records. As would be expected of an award-winning show car, this Carrera Speedster is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, copy of the factory Kardex, tool roll, jack, and handbook set, which includes a 356 A owner’s manual, Speedster driver’s manual, and supplement for cars with the 1500 Carrera engine. Lot 048 - 1959 Porsche 718 RSK (Est. $3,800,000 - 4,200,000)
horsepower Typ 547 engine sure didn’t hurt. This particular car saw a lot of action here in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and was driven by the legendary Roger Penske in almost every race it ever competed, racking up an impressive list of victories along the way. Built, as all race cars were, in Porsche’s legendary Werk 1, 718-019 was built to the specification of privateer RSK, and fitted with a Typ 547/3 four-cam engine (number 90211), finished in silver with polished steel-center wheels, and fitted with Continental racing tires. Porsche’s factory records indicate that it was shipped stateside from the outset, and likely was sold new to Harry Blanchard for use in the 1959 season of SCCA racing. Blanchard presumably used the car for only a handful of races, including the SCCA National at VIR, the SCCA National at Bridgehampton, and the USAC race at Lime Rock Park throughout May and June of that year. By the end of June, supremely talented racer Roger Penske was placed in the car and had taken it to the June Sprints at Road Atlanta, already taking a podium. Penske, only 22 years old at the time, owned the car through the end of the 1960 season, and made quite a name for himself and the car. In January 1960, Harry Blanchard was killed in an accident at Buenos Aires, while driving another Porsche Spyder, and ownership of 718-019 transferred to Roger. The 1960 SCCA season proved to be a tremendous success for Penske as he won that year’s F-Modified Championship, thanks in large part to his victories behind the wheel of 718-019. In 1960 alone, Penske and his RSK captured class or overall wins in more than 10 race outings. Shortly after the 1960 season, Penske sold the 718 RSK to a college buddy of his, fellow SCCA driver/car dealer, Lake Underwood. During his ownership of 718-019, Underwood captured an overall win at Vineland in the modified race. Following a several-year absence from racing, the

RSK reappeared in California, where Bob Jones of Jones Racing Enterprises entered the Spyder throughout the late 1960s in races at Laguna Seca, Vacaville, Cotati, and Sears Point. In 1970, John Beam, an amateur racer in the San Francisco Bay Area, purchased and then modified the RSK. At the time, the car was just another old race car, so Beam set about installing fiberglass fender flares, wide wheels, a full-width roll bar, and an 1,800 cc pushrod engine in place of the
more complicated four-cam piece. Refinished in green with bright orange trim, the 11-year-old Porsche Spyder was entered in an SCCA race at Riverside, where it was seen competing against more modern 906s and 910s. Later that year, 718-019 caught fire in Beam’s garage, damaging the aluminum bodywork and ending its decadelong racing career. From there, the RSK passed to Rudy Klein, who then sold it in 1974 to Harry Haggard of Palos Verdes Estates, California. Mr. Haggard, who also owned an RS60 and a 904, decided to restore the RSK as a road car, enlisting Dave Kent’s Creative Car Craft and Don Borth to repair the bodywork. By 1986, Haggard’s dream of making 718-019 street legal had petered out; the car was sold to California Porsche enthusiast Dirk Layer, who in turn sold the car to collector and vintage racer Tom Trabue of Columbia, Missouri. Lots of ownership changes occurred, and it’s somewhat difficult to follow sometimes. Again, even then the car was viewed as just another old race car that was well past its prime. Finally, in 1993, Trabue decided to turn his attention to the RSK project and commissioned noted restorer and fabricator Joe Cavaglieri to make the car like new again. Though the restoration was a challenge, necessitating the fabrication of new aluminum bodywork and extensive frame repairs, the process was aided by the use of factory blueprints and access to a very original 718 Spyder. After several years, Mr. Cavaglieri’s efforts resulted in one of the finest and most accurate restorations ever carried out on an RSK. Once completed, Mr. Trabue campaigned 718-019 in vintage races, including the Monterey Historics. The car remained in Trabue’s care until 2000, when he sold to famed Los Angeles collector Otis Chandler. Chandler didn’t hang on to 718-019 for very long, as it then joined the Jerry Seinfeld Collection in 2001. In the fall of 2003, Mr. Seinfeld entered the RSK in the Colorado Grand, the grueling 1,000-mile high elevation blast through the Rocky Mountains. In 2014, the Spyder was loaned to Porsche Cars North America for a media event held at Laguna Seca, and later was exhibited at the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel-by-theSea. Most recently, 718-019 was featured in an episode of Mr. Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the one with Kevin Hart. 718-019 presents as a stunning example of a period-correct four-cam Spyder and is well known and respected among knowledgeable marque specialists. Driven in period by the legendary Roger Penske, this RSK went on to compile an enviable competition record, racing at major North American venues for over a decade. Its impressive racing pedigree, outstanding restoration by Joe Cavaglieri, and eligibility for leading historic events around the world make this a Porsche that is worthy of any collector’s attention. Will this car actually sell for 4 million dollars? I remain unconvinced, but only time will tell. The auction begins this Friday, March 11th at 11:00 AM eastern time, and can be live-streamed on Goodingco.com free of charge. For those in Florida for the Amelia Island festivities, you can attend the beachfront auction for a $30 fee. SOCIAL DAY GO KARTING AT GAME OVER Article by Greg McWhinney Some of us met at the Coffee Club at Browns Plains, after some small talk, Gary, Graham, Peter, Anthony and myself, we hit the road and got onto the Mt. Lindsay highway, heading for Jimboomba. Before turning off and heading over to Tambourine Village, then taking a scenic drive over Mt. Tambourine through Eagle Heights, down through Oxenford to get to Game Over at Helensvale, while some local PCQ members drove straight to Game Over. We arrived and got inside to register for our 12 minutes of fun – those who decided to Go-Kart were, our amazing magazine editor Sunel and husband Derek, Anthony Roul, Peter Kratz and myself. The Karts are electric – governed to 55 kph but the staff advised they are designed and can go as fast as 80kph. After our safety instruction video and drivers brief completed our band of Porsche owner/ drivers got to have some fun. As it turned out Derek and I were the leading drivers and were swapping the lead on several occasions, which was a lot of fun. In the end I ended up with fastest lap time out of our group just betting Derek by 2 tenths of a second. We all agreed those who attended had a great time - some of us went off for a coffee while the most went home. Until next year when we do it again, enjoy your club. Greg McWhinney Social Director

Our impressive race-bred Cayenne and the incredible, class-leading Macan could well have been purpose built for North Queensland’s unique mix of on and off-road terrain. Both combine unparalleled four-wheel capability with Porsche’s legendary sports performance to give the driver an arsenal of power and precision that no other car can match.
