Lauren LEGGETT

&

BUILT TO LAST Justin and his dad constructed an arbor for the couple to exchange vows underneath during the ceremony. Lauren and Justin plan to keep this special keepsake in their backyard and someday share the story of its role in their wedding day with their children.

Justin ELDRIDGE APRIL 25, 2015 LITTLE ROCK

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE Justin’s birthday falls just two days after the couple’s wedding date. To celebrate, Lauren surprised him with his favorite homemade cupcakes during the reception while their guests sang “Happy Birthday.”

Lauren’s Advice for Brides-to Be “Try not to stress about the small things and just enjoy the engagement period by focusing on each other. There were details I worried about for my wedding day and I honestly can’t say if they happened or if I noticed. It’s not worth it to be stressed out and no matter what happens, it will be the best day of your life.”

FIRST DANCE SONG Ray LaMontagne’s “You are the Best Thing”

Menu Must-Have Grilled cheese and tomato soup appetizers served during the reception’s cocktail hour.

Floral Fantasy Lauren says the flowers were “the most fun part of the wedding planning process.” Wedding planner AnneClaire Allen and the team at Tipton & Hurst created what Lauren describes as a “romantic, organic, and whimsical look,” which included peonies, ranunculi, garden roses, and silver dollar eucalyptus. “When you walked by the barn, you were greeted by a grand arrangement that was breathtaking,” she says.

YOUNG LOVE Lauren and Justin first met at church camp when they were in the sixth grade. After seeing each other off and on at church events and youth group, they began dating in 10th grade, and they have been together ever since.

Favorite Memory of the Day She said: “One that stands out the most would have to be immediately after the ceremony. We chose to take a little time by ourselves while our guests were at the cocktail hour, so we went upstairs to the loft area of the barn where a meal had been prepared for us. We ate, practiced our dance moves, and watched our guests from the balcony while we took in the moment! It was special to have time together and reflect on the vows that we had just made.” He said: “My favorite memory from the day was the moment I saw Lauren in her wedding dress. I never dreamed that I could be as nervous as I was that day. But, the moment I laid eyes on her during our “first look” before the ceremony all of my anxiety dissipated. She looked absolutely gorgeous. I remember not being able to stop smiling. I will never forget that moment.” Spring/Summer 2016 | weddingsinarkansas.com 35

SEPTEMBER 5, 2015 LITTLE ROCK

A SPARKLING EXIT Guests held sparklers and lined the archway of the Castle, which leads from the back of the property to the front. When the happy couple was ready to depart, they walked through a glowing row of well-wishers to their getaway car.

“Make sure you book all major vendors early—as soon as you have your date set, especially if you are planning to be married on a major holiday. The vendors fill up quicker than you could imagine. Once you have them picked, the small details will work themselves out later.”

Three Words to Describe the Day

Carefully Chosen Color Scheme Navy is a favorite color of Michael’s, while Daisy loves all bright hues. To incorporate both, the bride chose navy bridesmaids’ dresses and then selected florals in shades of pink and coral that would pop against the deep blue. Roses and spray roses were used throughout the ceremony and reception and were accented with green succulents.

ADVICE FROM THE NEWLYWEDS FOR ENGAGED COUPLES

Classic, Colorful & Elegant

Camera-Worthy Proposal The weekend before Daisy’s birthday, the couple planned to spend the day together. Michael took Daisy to one of her favorite spots in Little Rock, Two Rivers Park. Here, he had a friend meet them and take pictures while they walked. He told her this was her birthday present. However, after seeing the photographer, Daisy thought Michael was going to propose. She shared this with him and he replied, “I am,” and got down on one knee. The entire event was caught on camera, and the couple celebrated over dinner with friends and family.

Emilie HEAD

&

COLLEGE SWEETHEARTS Emilie and Kent met through mutual friends during their last semester at the University of Arkansas.

Old, New, Borrowed & Blue

Kent RENO

MAY 30, 2015 LITTLE ROCK

Emilie checked each mark on this time-honored list.

Borrowed Emilie’s grandmother loaned her an emerald ring, which had been given to her by Emilie’s grandfather when Emilie’s mother was a little girl. Blue She wore her father’s Gray Lion’s pin from his days as an officer in the Army. His unit was called the Gray Lions; and Emilie and her mother snuck the pin off of his old uniform and pinned it on the lace on her bouquet. The pin has a blue background on the shield, thus providing her “something blue.” “I showed it to him right before we walked down the aisle. It was such a neat moment, and I had no idea how much it would mean to him!” Emilie says.

The Perfect Shot Kent surprised Emilie by proposing during a trip to Grayton Beach, Florida with her family in June of 2014. The entire family was slated to have pictures made on the beach as a Christmas present to Emilie’s parents. Kent and Emilie were the last to do a couple shot at the end of the session. They were almost finished when Kent suggested trying one more pose and got down on his knee. “We have pictures of the whole thing, and they are so special,” Emilie says.

ADVICE FOR ENGAGED COUPLES

Old Lace from her mother’s wedding gown was wrapped around her bouquet. New Emilie’s gown and garter filled this need.

Rather than a traditional Southern groom’s cake, Kent opted for cheesecake—his favorite dessert. PattiCakes Bakery created an assortment of mini cheesecake cupcakes. These were set atop wooden trivets that Kent made himself from timber found on his family’s land in his home state of Oklahoma. HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS Kayln and Tyler have known each other for most of their lives. The pair went to school together starting in their early elementary days and ended up being high school sweethearts.

FLORAL FANTASY White flowers adorned nearly every surface at the reception, including large flower walls made from hydrangea on the sides of the band’s stage and floral chandeliers that hung above the dance floor and seating area.

On the Water Adventure After a long day at work, Tyler took Kayln to Mellwood Old River, a favorite spot for the two of them. It was a gorgeous afternoon, so they decided to get out on the boat for a bit. As they floated and enjoyed the sunset, Tyler went down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Surprised and excited, Kayln quickly said “Yes!”

FAMILY TRADITION Both Kayln’s parents and her grandparents were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Helena, so it was only fitting that she and Tyler would tie the knot there as well.

Tim McGraw’s “My Best Friend”

Confection Perfection “I wanted the cake to be an eye-catcher, and Natalie Madison was definitely the one for the job. She is not only a baker but also an artist when it comes to her cake designs,” Kayln says. The couple tested samples and matched their favorite cakes, fillings, and icings to their liking. As for the design, the top tier of the cake featured a gold ‘G,’ while the second tier was a replica of the bride’s wedding gown design, and the third tier had a vintage sequin motif. The remaining, larger layers featured edible, crafted flowers and a lace pattern made from 24-karat gold leaf.

PICTURE PERFECT COUPLE Both Austin and Megan are wedding photographers; Austin is also a videographer. Additionally, Austin filmed the day himself by setting his cameras up on tripods to capture special moments.

Megan’s parents were in the process of building a new home and they felt that hosting the wedding there would be a cherished memory. “It didn’t hurt that their property has a gorgeous sunset view, which was perfect for our ceremony!” the couple says.

Antique Accent Megan and Austin enjoy antiquing and found an antique altar on one trip. They refurbished the piece and used it in their ceremony.

THEY SAW FIREWORKS Megan’s dad surprised the couple with a fireworks show on the property during the reception.

Advice to Newly Engaged Couples “Make sure to focus more on your relationship than your wedding!”

Impromptu Proposal Austin had wanted to propose to Megan for a while, but couldn’t find the ideal time to implement his idea— taking Megan to a river where she would discover a pre-planted message in a bottle with his proposal. “I couldn’t wait any longer, so I popped the question one night at home!” he says. “It was fitting for us, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

FACEBOOK FRIENDS In true 21st century style, Megan and Austin began communicating through Facebook and decided to meet in person. After this initial meeting, which turned into a date, they began seeing each other.

WELL-WRITTEN LOVE STORY

Anna FIORI

THE HONEYMOONERS Following their nuptials, Anna and David spent two weeks touring England and Ireland.

Letters were a main focus of the couple’s wedding day décor. “The Story Dobbs” was a theme that ran throughout the wedding and even ended up becoming a hashtag for social media posts. “Instead of a guestbook we had a mailbox and postcards that people could write to us. Our logo had also pens in it. We both love the intimacy of pen and paper,” Anna says.

Expertly Planned & Executed

“Tanarah [of Tanarah Luxe Floral] was the driving force of executing my extremely abstract ideas. I knew I wanted floral everywhere she could put it, and I knew I wanted natural finishes on all the hardware, nothing too shiny and no “colors” except for the floral. She made it happen,” Anna says.

GARDEN ROOM Anna envisioned being married in a garden and wanted lots of fresh flowers. She searched for a venue that had “beautiful, romantic gardens” and was still close to the Little Rock area. “Moss Mountain’s rose garden has a very English garden feeling, and I instantly felt connected to it,” she says of the venue selection.

The Full Moon the expert: Casey Finch, Owner and Operator of the Full Moon knoWn For: Central Arkansas’ go-to place for creating a unique bridal registry, along with great ideas for hostess and bridal party gifts background: Casey’s first job was working at the Full Moon at age 15. Now, she has owned the popular hillcrest shop for over a year. she spent time living in st. Louis, where she worked in retail management at both Neiman Marcus and harold’s. With her retail background, and having worked at the Full Moon off and on for almost 25 years, she has a firm grasp on what is important to a bride when going through the registry process. she has also been able to see the transitions and identify trends when it comes to what the modern couple wants on their registry.

What are some oF the First steps a bride and groom should take beFore coming to register? First, they should consider the color scheme of their home as newlyweds, and ask themselves if they need any items to help tie together their existing home furnishings. they should also think about what they like to do as a couple. do they enjoy hosting parties, cooking together, watching the razorbacks, or any other number of activities? this can help them determine what to put on the registry list. What are some oF the essentials you recommend For a registry list? 1. dinnerware that is functional yet gorgeous! 2. Unique barware and serving pieces. 3. specialty items that the bride and groom can remember fondly and recall who gave the piece to them. 4. Items of all price points to give guests and well-wishers plenty of options. What are some oF the trends you are seeing on registries? Brides

are getting away from having formal china plus a set of everyday dinnerware. Instead, they are registering for beautiful dinnerware that is functional, timeless, and easy to clean! Also, more and more grooms are coming in to register with their fiancées. We love that! What can a bride and groom expect When they register at the Full moon? We like for the bride to walk around and get an idea of what interests her, and then a knowledgeable associate will guide her through creating a wellrounded registry. No appointment is necessary; and they can expect our undivided attention throughout the process. Every registrant also receives a special engagement gift. In addition, we now offer a discount on one fulfillment order of the couple’s dinnerware and a one-time hostess or bridal party gift discount. We offer free delivery for gifts purchased for the couple, or they may pick up at the store. Wrapping is free of charge, and we ship every day.

WEDDINGS EXPERT: THE FLORIST

Tipton Hurst THE EXPERT: Chris Norwood, AIFD, CFD, and Vice President of Tipton Hurst. Norwood is also the only PFCI in Arkansas. KNOWN FOR: Creating stunning floral arrangements that transcend time and accentuate venues. Norwood is also featured weekly for floral design and décor on Channel 7’s Good Morning Arkansas. BACKGROUND: Tipton Hurst has been a Central Arkansas staple for floral design since 1886. Over the past 130 years, they have continued to grow, evolve, and innovate when it comes to both design work and service—always seeking to create remarkable results for their clients. Part of this effort means working with the best designers. Vice President Chris Norwood has 30 years of floral design experience and has worked in almost every venue around the state. His keen eye for palette and placement along with this knowledge set him and his team apart.

WHAT CAN A COUPLE EXPECT WHEN WORKING WITH TIPTON HURST FOR THEIR WEDDING? At the initial consultation, we look over Pinterest boards, magazine tear sheets, and any other inspiration they bring for us to see. From there, we give them a cost estimate that is broken out so they can decide where they want to be budget-wise and what elements are most important to them. We look forward to working with our brides and are happy to meet as many times as necessary to achieve the look and level of comfort required for this special day. Also, when we start to put the floral bouquets and pieces together, we text or email pictures to the bride to show her how everything looks and give her the opportunity to make changes along the way. We offer full-service delivery, pick-up, and cleanup to make it easy for the couple and their families. In any scenario, we will help you as much as you would like or step back and let you take more control.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR BEST SUGGESTIONS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF A FLORAL BUDGET? You want guests to be wowed when they walk in the door, so I suggest putting your budget toward one or two big statement pieces that will make a lasting impact rather than trying to cover every area. Also, try to use seasonal flowers, which are more readily available. And, be mindful of supply shortages or extra fees if the wedding date is near a holiday. AS FAR AS THE DESIGN, ARE THERE TRENDS YOU ARE DRAWN TO NOW? My work is known for having a ‘Southern elegance’ style. Our arrangements are both beautiful and timeless. The forms may be fuller and the elements may tweaked, but overall they are classic. With that said, I’m always happy to incorporate the bride’s vision and fashion-forward trends, and Tipton Hurst has a huge selection of props and rentals available to achieve this.

1/CLASSIC ELEGANCE Columns of hydrangeas and roses create a timeless look. 2/BOLD STATEMENT A centerpiece canopy of free spirit orchids is accented with hanging jewels. 3/STUNNING SETTING A wedding cake displayed on a full-length floral tablecloth is set under a canopy of orchids.
