Academy,aboardingschoolforgirls.Until1927 thecampusextendedtothewater’sedge,until thecityofWestPalmBeachpaidRosarian Academy$1,650forasixty-footrightofwayto buildFlaglerDrive.
Donatedbygenerousbenefactors,Col.andMrs. Bradley,thenewBradleyHallhousedgirlsfrom outoftheareatoattendSt.Ann’s.Despitethe setbackofadevastatinghurricanein1928, leavingBradleyHalldamaged,theschool perseveredandcontinuedtogrow.Bythemid1930s,thebuildinghadbeenrepaired,usedfor classesandboarders.Shortlyafter,theschool beganwelcomingboysasdaystudents.
In1939,theschool'snamewaschangedto Rosarian,honoringthemotherofthesignificant Benefactor,AnnBradley.
Inthe1940s,RosarianAcademysolidifiedits foundationsandbegansignificantexpansion.The purchaseofCasaHermosain1941provided additionaldormitoryspace,accommodatinga growingstudentpopulation,includingmanyfrom SouthAmerica.Theschoolgainedimportant accreditationsandcelebratedthegroundbreaking foranewchapelandclassroombuilding,marking aperiodofacademicandsocialgrowth.
Theschool'sgrowthspurtcontinuedinthe1950s withtheacquisitionoftheYachtClub,which addedvitalfacilitieslikeanauditorium,additional classrooms,showers,andlockersfordaystudents, andtwoapartmentsforfacultymembers.The decadefeaturedanotableeducationalforumin 1953withinternationaleducatorsandsawthe constructionofnewbuildings,includingLewis Hall,HarringtonApartments,aswimmingpool, andbathhouse.TheAcademyalsointensifiedits focusonthearts,showcasingimpressivestage productions.
AsAmericansocietyunderwentgreatsocialand politicalchangeinthe60's,sodidRosarian Academy.The1960sandbeyondbrought forward-thinkingprogramslikelanguagelabsand aguidancedepartment,alongwiththeconstruc-
tionoftheMargaretTigheMachlinFineArtsCenter,which eventuallyproducedclassicslikeBrigadoon,TheSoundof Music,Oliver,andAnnie,withtheoriginaldog,Sandy,making aspecialappearanceintheschool'sproduction.
Duringthe1970s,RosarianAcademyintroducednew electivesandprogramslikeSeniorProjects,whichfostered communityinvolvementandcareerexploration,whilealso foundingtheLittleSchool(Montessori)in1974foryoung children.Thedecadewashighlightedbytherestructuringof thesophomorereligionprogramtoincludelocaloutreach, theproductionofacclaimedBroadwayshows,andthe celebrationoftheAcademy'sGoldenAnniversaryin1975 withaGalaattheBreakersHotel,attendedbynotable figuressuchasRoseKennedyandPerryComo.
Bythemid1980s,RosarianAcademyhadfullytransitioned toaco-educationalmodel,servingstudentsfromMontessori through8thgrade.Thisnewstructurewassolidifiedwiththe graduationofthefirstco-ed8th-gradeclassin1992, markingthebeginningofatransformativeperiodof expansionduringthe1990sandleadingtotheconstruction oftheMaryAliceFortinBuilding.
ThisnewfacilityreplacedBradleyHallandwascarefully designedtomeettheneedsofstudentsandstaffwith modernclassrooms,laboratories,andadministrativespaces. Additionally,acomprehensivesportscomplexwasdeveloped westoftheFortinBuilding,providingstudentswithtopnotchathleticfacilities,featuringtenniscourts,basketball andvolleyballcourts,andagrassyfieldwithaperimeter track,offeringstudentsawell-roundedenvironmentforboth academicandathleticdevelopment.
In2000,RosarianAcademycelebratedits75thanniversary, withthesamecommitmenttocomprehensiveartsand athletics,emphasizinglifelongfitness,butanewdream. UndertheleadershipofPrincipalMaryDeVaultandBoard ChairRobertGarvy,aCapitalCampaignwaslaunchedto fundcrucialcampusimprovements,includingRosarian’sfirsteverfull-sizegymnasium.Whenahurricanedamagedthe fineartsbuilding,theschoolseizedtheopportunityto reimagineitsfacilities,leadingtoanevenbiggerdream,the designofanewathleticsandfineartscenter.
Nineyearslater,withPrincipalSr CorrineSandersatthe helm,theRosarianAcademycommunitygatheredto celebratethegrandopeningofThePicotteCenterfor AthleticsandFineArts Thisstate-of-the-artfacilityhousing theGymnasium,MusicSuites,DramaSuites,VisualArts Suite,and“TheNeighborhood,”featuringaFamilyAcademic CenterforEnrichment,aTechnologySuite,aMeetingRoom,
andaReadingLounge Withthenewgym opening,theChapelnolongerhadtohostPEand extracurricularactivities,allowingittobe reinstatedasachapelin2010
Rosarian’sgrowthdidn’tstopthere In2018,with LindaTretheweyasHeadofSchool,theFreitas STEMInnovationCenter,astate-of-the-art, hands-onlearningenvironment,officiallyopened atRosarianAcademy.Inthismilestone achievement,RosarianbecamethefirstCarnegie STEMExcellencePathwaypartnerinFlorida, thankstoitspartnershipwiththeCarnegie ScienceCenter.Thisinitiativeenhancedthe school'scurriculum,whichintegratedcomputer technology STEM visualandperformingarts and
educationalpractices Fromitsmodestbeginnings inthe1920stoitscurrentstatusasaleading institutionininnovativeeducationandholistic development,Rosarianhascontinuallyevolvedto meettheneedsofitsstudentsandthedemands ofachangingworld
