Ben Tracy Teaches Students How to Use Technology Safely
By: Sofia Castro
By Finley Nelson
For the second time in the 2023-2024 school year, keynote speaker Ben Tracy came to speak about digital citizenship, online safety, and responsible social media use Founder of the Safe Social Network, Tracy travels around the country to speak to many different schools about how to correctly handle the responsibility of modern technology. Tracy shared tips on how to stay safe online as a young person. He advised us on how to recognize child predators, unsafe situations, and appropriate use of tech
When asked how many schools he has spoken to, Tracy responded by saying, “Hundreds of schools. Probably about four or five hundred, most of them Catholic ” Only our middle schoolers got to witness this presentation, so we made sure to ask him if he could share some tips on how the younger kids can stay safe online or on social media. His response was, “It's best to wait. The minimum age to be on social media is 13.”
All of Ben Tracy’s cautioning instructions will help with keeping young (and older) people safe on the internet.

Our Amazing Librarian
Written by Aaliyah Thomas
From a beloved fourth grade teacher to a librarian that has helped to improve our selection, Mrs. Edwards has proved to be an invaluable asset to the school
When asked what books she would recommend for both lower school and middle school students she replied, “We have a variety of books that would fall in the reading level of both middle school and lower school students that would allow both middle to read to lower school students, and actually vice versa, so that they both feel like they’re playing an intricate part in the reading process.”
What prizes would you receive for reading the most books? Would you be able to wear it?
“Yes, so in middle school, we award students at the end of quarter 2, and quarter 4 each for a half a million words or more, and then at the end of quarter 4, we have pins that can go on the lapel of your jacket, and we have a different one for each goal here within middle school, so you have the opportunity to earn up to four. For middle school, we have awards for half a million words as well The lower school could also enter the million-word club, which provides them with a special t-shirt, and Ms. Lanahan would love to get gift cards for those students as well.”
Are there any good reading spots in the library for people who like reading in silence? And could there be ones for people who like reading with others?
“So typically I try, whether I have a classroom or not, to provide a space that is quiet for them. I feel like my students that are in here for class do a good job of understanding that this is a multiuse space, and that there might be students in here working on various projects, or activities, and so I feel like we do a good job of changing our voice level, depending on how the space is currently being used.”
“I think so, I think if it was well planned out in advance, if it was happening, I think you can manipulate the space to make whatever you want it to be ”

Mr. Sherman’s Final Show
by Aaliyah Thomas
The Legally Blonde show was an amazing event, made possible by Mr.Sheerman. I couldn’t be there for the days of the show, but I heard everyone did a fantastic job! Our star, Lola Grande who played Elle Woods was a fantastic actor, and so was everyone else. I look forward to being able to see our next plays at the beginning of our new school year
Strangers
A poem by Bea George
I saw a stranger in the hallway today.
Except she wasn’t a stranger at all
I most likely knew what kind of thoughts were running through her head.
Thoughts that once consisted of doubting herself and believing that she had no worth in her life.
I probably knew which class she was heading to
The class where she would sit, listening to somber songs, instead of paying attention to the lecturing teacher in front of her.
I knew which seat she would choose once she arrived at that class
The seat at the very back of the room, and the seat where nobody would notice her presence.
I knew what class she would head to next.
The class where she would just repeat the cycle once more
I knew who she would, and wouldn’t, talk to while she was zoning out at lunch.
And I knew what class she felt most comfortable in The class where her contagious laugh filled the room.
But then I remember this is all a lucky guess.
Because I don’t know this person anymore
We are strangers.
Rosarian Teams Win Big
by Daniel Coan & Eleanor Caron
The JV girls soccer team finished their season 1-1-1. The young team of 5th and 6th graders played with little fear and a lot of compassion according to Coach Atkins The 7th grade girls who were also on the team took pride in leading the younger girls ” Coach Atkins stated, “The most impressive thing was how the girls just wanted to learn the game. They never questioned what we were doing. They supported each other on and off the field. Overall, it was an amazing experience.”
The Rosarian Girls Soccer team had an amazing season with recording breaking achievements They ended the season 9-0 , had 47 goals scored, and only three goals were scored against the team the entire season. To accomplish something so amazing this season is the first time in the program's history! Coach Beylo prided the success on the players' unselfish attitude to provide an” opportunity for their teammates to score.” Coach Beylo stated “The hard work, determination and dedication of this team were just a few of the many reasons that we were so successful ”
The boys basketball team played hard this season and met challenging teams. JV basketball’s toughest team was The King's Academy. Seventh-grader Andrew Jackson stated, “The most challenging part of the season was blocking opponents on The King's Academy team.” However, according to Jackson, “[the team] was happy when we won!”
