Hagstrom proudly presents the new Fantomen Custom, another collaboration designed together with the Ghost team to provide unique custom upgrades to their eye-catching original: Neck Through Construction, Neck Volute, Stainless Steel Frets, Schaller STM Roller Bridge, Schaller Tail Piece, Schaller Strap Lock System, Graphtech Ratio Tuners (with Hagstrom Buttons), Glow in the Dark Side Dot Inlays. A three-piece maple neck-through construction is joined either side by two African Mahogany wings to create the body of the Fantomen Custom. A supportive and comfortable neck volute has also been added to provide tour worthy strength and support to the angled and reversed headstock. Graphtech’s Black Tusq nut and revolutionary Ratio rearlocking tuners are finished off with Hagstrom buttons for accurate and precise tuning. Illuminated glow-in-the-dark side dot inlays will help players find their way around the stainless-steel frets, even on the darkest of stages. The recessed cutaway on the lower horn allows access the highest frets and a Schaller’s STM roller bridge paired with a Schaller stop tailpiece relays all the tone directly through to the body. The Fantomen Custom is equipped with independently splittable Lundgren Design No. 2 (Alnico 2) neck pickup and No. 5 (Alnico 5) bridge humbuckers to deliver the mayhem of monstrous tone demanded by Ghost.

A ghoulish collaboration with Hagstrom and the Swedish band Ghost, Fantomen (Swedish for “The Phantom”) features an elegantly asymmetrical solid-mahogany body to which Hagstrom have joined a mahogany neck using their classic mortise-and-tenon neck joint system. Naturally, since it’s a Hagstrom, the Fantomen utilises a H-Expander® truss rod and Resinator® fingerboard and together these create an incredibly stable, resonant and responsive sonic foundation. With a relatively thin 1¼” (3.5cm) body, the Fantomen is beautifully balanced and surprisingly lightweight. Hagstrom consulted with Swedish pickup guru Johan Lundgren who recommended two different humbucker designs: No. 2 in the neck and No. 5 in the bridge. Artist Project
The Hagstrom “Artist Project” series is a unique line of instruments that has been specially created in unison with selected Hagstrom Artists. Each instrument is a representation of each artists creativity and individual requirements, with Hagstrom offering them free reign to uniquely customise each instrument so that they can create their very own perfect tool of musical expression. As primary touring guitarist for Paramore, Justin York’s role is to provide the supporting foundation of the band’s guitar sounds for each song. A band with a rich history like Paramore requires a broad range of guitar styles and textures, so back in 2012 Justin bought a Hagstrom Viking to use on tour and the Viking has been a staple part of Paramore’s touring arsenal since. Taylor York was introduced to Hagstrom by his brother, Justin and shortly after discovering the Impala, Taylor began work in the studio recording Paramore’s “After Laughter” album, and as it turned out his Impala received the most use. When it came time for Paramore to start their extensive touring schedule in support of “After Laughter” Hagstrom worked extensively with both Justin and Taylor to help modify their Hagstrom guitars. Taylor recently acquired a 1960’s vintage Viking and fell in love with its famously thin neck. So naturally they both requested the same ultra-Thin 17mm neck profile across all 3 models. Next was to choose a finish, Taylor wanted to keep with the Impala’s vintage vibe and after several experiments settled on a wonderful copper-burst finish. Justin opted for a classic, vintage style gold top for his Viking - and for his Super Viking, Justin wanted to exude a rich, classic vibe so Hagstrom developed a warm transparent brown finish that highlights the maple grain. After making a few tweaks to Taylor’s hardware for stage and road worthiness Hagstrom finalised the design and the Impala Copper Burst was born. Working further with Justin, Hagstrom developed an enhanced tone control for both Vikings. Instead of filtering treble frequencies, it filters the bass as the control is cut without effecting the treble, essentially making the tone control act as a bass-cut function. Justin finds this is much more usable on stage, and we think you all will too!

H-III The H-III was introduced in 1965 and was known for it’s quirky switches and great playability for which it quickly achieved wide popularity. Favourites among punk and grunge bands looking to make a hard-rocking statement, H-IIIs have been showing up in the hands of artists such as Aaron North (The Icarus Line, Nine Inch Nails) for years. Many people have been asking for these classics to be re-issued, and we at Hagstrom are happy to comply with a lovingly recreated and updated version of this great classic. Hagstrom have taken great care in recreating the original pickups and their new ceramic C-Spin pickups do an excellent job of matching the originals sonic glory. Tone-shaping functionality is enhanced by incorporating Hagstrom’s new RC-Circuit into the volume control, which allows for volume reduction without the loss of that high frequency shimmer.

VIKING DLX BARITONE Many guitarists consider a baritone instrument to be somewhat limited and narrow in its application, but Hagstrom’s Viking® Baritone shatters this stereotype. Two entirely new pickups were developed specifically for the Viking Baritone’s rich acoustics. In the bridge we find Hagstrom’s new Custom 58’C, a humbucker voiced to enhance the clarity native to the Viking. Sitting in the neck is Hagstrom’s new P-Urified pickup, a specially designed full humbucking sized P90 pickup, adding warmth and openness while keeping lower frequencies tight and controlled. VIKING DLX 12 The hardness of maple enhances tonal brilliance, so it was natural for us to develop Hagstrom’s 12-string Viking Deluxe with maple used throughout the body and neck. Standard equipment on Hagstrom is our H-Expander™ truss rod and Resinator™ fretboard. Both of these features also enhance acoustics by emphasizing the octave strings, balancing them with the naturally fuller standard strings, resulting in a lush, chorale-like acoustic tone. The magic comes from our H-50 humbucking pickups, designed and voiced specifically for this 12-string model. Gorgeous vintage-sounding clean tones can heat up nastily when overdriven, taking this 12-string into new sonic territory. More than 200 pounds of pressure are exerted on the neck of a 12-string guitar, a problem for traditional guitar designs. However, Hagstrom’s unique H-Expander™ truss rod, inspired by designs used in jet aircraft manufactured in Sweden by Saab, handles this with no problem, and even allows for an incredibly thin neck for playing comfort with no compromise in stability. H8-II BASS Most people invariably think of Hagstrom when talking about an 8-string bass. That’s because Hagstrom was the first brand to mass-produce an 8-string model: the H8. In the late 1960s, countless beat and hard rock icons experimented extensively and used its unique sound as the backbone for psychedelic and classic songs. The H8 not only survived this experimental era of the 1960s but quickly became a timeless instrument. Now Hagstrom introduces an authentic re-issue of this legendary 8-string bass originally released in 1967. What makes the H8-II so special? The octave sound of the high strings is just perfect. The narrow neck, the congenial 8-string bridge (string-through-body) and its t as s ren short scale greatly contribute to the perfect playability of the string I I B an s p a 8 H y Tr pairs. SUPER SWEDE BASS Our new Super Swede Bass is an authentic re-creation of the historic model from 1980. A Resinator fingerboard enhances the sustain of the neck-through design and contributes to the guitars articulate attack. Strings are anchored in place with individual saddles coupled directly to the single massive neck structure providing a foundation for long, piano-like sustain. Hagstrom’s brand-new J-Quad quad-stacked humbuckers are introduced with the Super Swede Bass. We thought it appropriate to commemorate this historic design with our latest pickup innovation.
