Moraca Riverfront Development & Urban Activation Architectural & Urban Design Competition

A competition conducted by the Government of Montenegro for conceptual urban and architectural design for the Moraca River banks, to establish a new connection between the city and the river, The proposed design laid foundation for a more interactive relationship between the city and the river. Through layers of thorough analysis, 5 zones were identified to provide newer life to the riverfront, with activities and access to all user groups

Summer Scenario

Provides large multi utility gathering and green spaces.

Proposed planter boxes will be a platform to promote public participation

Color in this zone adds to the interest and interaction

Being one with the landscape, it forms clusters of gatherings

The decks will provide a beach-like experience when water level rises

Multiple walkways and decks provide connections to the beach in every season

ZONE 4

Water Activity

Creates a visual connect and pause point for water activities

Interactive Landscape

Niches for shade and undulations provide space for sports activities.

Take a Seat

Sustainable Urban Furniture Public - Installation Design

The tiniest and only installation to be built on Church Street, Bangalore’s Clean Air Street Movement. A temporary, yet Sustainable seater was made entirely out of 100% Recycled Paper Tubes ( usually found as a refuse at Print stores ). The installation was built to provoke the idea of ReduceReuse-Recycle and stood true to this idea by minimizing the amount of waste generated even in the process of fabrication. All the segments of the seater were thoroughly thought through to make maximum use of the limited material available. The Temporary yet Sustainable Installation was used by several artists for their performances. The seater endured 1000’s of users and uses and provided a different function or experience to each one.

Plan (mirrored at‘I’)

Height of Tubes (in metres)

The fabrication process involved maximum utility of the available material. A simple yet effective system was applied where the initial model was symmetric and mirrored along the central axis - for ease of assembly. This also enabled use of most parts of the Paper Tube. Fabrication time - 10 hours

Material - Driven Design Infinity Tests - Fabrication Academic Work

Material experiments with Piano wire. Tests at various scales and thicknesses were conducted. The material’s most versatile properties were analyzed and utilized to design a complex system. The design further enabled multiple transformations within the system with minimal variation of joint placements.

Holiday Home Roof Details

Nestled in the tea plantations of the Nilgiri Hills, these holiday homes are designed to enhance the experience of the verdure whilst feeling one with it, Use of locally sourced material with little or no impact to the existing tree cover is the key feature of this project.

Biodiversity Centre

The design of the Biodiversity Centre is based on the concept of Termite Hills. It utilizes the varying terrain to create visual impact. The roofs mimic termite mounds and the passive cooling methods adopted are inspired by the ‘system of vents’ in termite hills. The Connecting pathways too mimic Termite trails, made entirely with locally available material.
