ow we did it The 1960’s was all about expressing yourself however you want too, it was about saying goodbye to the social norms and doing you. For our 1960’s creation we wanted to capture the dramatic winged liner, we paired this with lots of glitter and a blue eyeshadow underneath. We found a helpful tutorial on YouTube by youtuber Jackie Wyers, she re-created a classic Twiggy inspired makeup tutorial which you should definitely check out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd4S73eY8YQ - - here’s the link to her tutorial

The 1960’s & Self expression
T
he 1960’s was an important decade for the fashion and beauty industry and finally it was
beginning to guide itself towards the youth market. The 60’s was all about self- expression and pushing boundaries. People were now accepting to any society of people who wanted to express themselves through their clothing and makeup. The 60’s was also an important decade for the women and men of colour as the Voting Rights Acts of 1965 banning any racial discrimination in voting.
Our 1960’s beauty Icon Twiggy was known to be the world’s first supermodel, she was also the inspiration behind the “mod” scene in London. As well as being an Iconic model she was also an established actress and singer. Twiggy rarely wore foundation, as she liked her freckles to be showing. Her most famous asset was her thickly coated mascara on her lashes on her big blue eyes. Twiggy usually wore
a light pink or natural lipstick as the focus was almost always her eyes. Twiggy was a huge fashion icon and trendsetter of her time to many women all over the world, she helped set trends such as the mini skirt, the ribbed jumper and she was even known for wearing men’s accessories which was very unusual for the time.
