Animal Translator App-‐ ‘Woof Tech’
Product Details: The product we designed was an animal translator app, specifically to translate dogs. The user would hold the device out to the dog to translate its speech to their language. The app would then be able to store certain phrases the animal spoke. We chose to call this product ‘Woof Tech’. This was due to the fact that ‘Woof’ has two associations The first link is the noise that a dog would make, and so the noise that the product would be translating for the user. The second link is the word ‘Woofers’ which is a term for a speaker and so related our product back to types of technology. Our target market is the nuclear family as they're more likely to have pets and be able to afford the product which will be available in the app store. The product will cost £4 as this is an affordable product for out target market.
Logo Idea 1: The first image is the initial sketch of the logo. The second image shows the final design with colour. In this logo I used the image of a dog. I used a Labrador as this is a friendly and helpful breed which will directly represent the company and how it will assist the users. The colour’s I used on the dog are representative of an actual dog. They are also quite subtle colour’s that aren’t too aggressive for the user to see. I used a simplistic design which illustrates how the app can be used with ease and will be clear to understand. I have used a futuristic font here to show how the app is a step forward into modern technology. Under the dog, I have used black lines to show the speech coming out of its mouth which will be translated using the app.
Logo Idea 2: I have created my logo to look like a dog mixed with a speech bubble. The reason i have done this is to represent the entire product which is the dog -‐-‐-‐-‐-‐-‐ translator. The colour of the dog and text is brown and the reason for this is because it is the most common natural dog colour and it is simplistic so it shows that it is simple making it family friendly which is the target audience I have chosen this font as it is futuristic which gives synergy with the brand name "tech"
Logo Idea 3: For my design I decided to keep it more simple than the other two, therefore there was more range of design for the three options. My logo for 'Woof Tech' is a black paw with woof tech inside, the paw is to present the fact that the app is designed for dogs and kept black to still keep the simplicity aspect there. As our target audience is reached out to typically nuclear family, as well as other pet owners, I made the font for 'woof' different colour’s and a more creative/wacky font to display that the app is family friendly. The the word 'tech' is used in a different font, which is more modern and white, to show that as well as being family friendly it is still a serious product that is up to date and current.
