This brief was very open. Andy, Nigel and I quickly started to look at the source that was provided to us by Dr.Me. Due to the fact this was more of a response that warranted authorship of the content, I personally felt looking at other stimulus was somewhat innert.
We started writing down all the things that related to flags. I pushed Andy and Nigel to think of things that were loosely related to flags so that we could play on a concept that utilises the flags function.
We developed further ideas and concepts for the exhibition.
We kept a computer handy for visual references that would help inform our decision.

For the brief we had deveoped 3 concepts that we were happy with. We reached the concepts very organically, one person providing the initial thought, and it immediately being developed or built upon by another member of the group.
Final Concept The final concept for the flag was to have a waving hand, which would imitate the motion of the flag, but also juxtapose the initial usage of flags, which was within war.
Progress
We chose a concept to run with and we began to take it through to completion immediately. Due to the brief lasting only a day we had to work quickly and organically. This was a very liberating experience and is one that I hope to carry through into future work.
To make the image for the flag we scanned our hands and waved into the scanner to produce a waving motion to the image. We felt this was true to the concept and would produce a more interested visual, which would communicate motion.
I experimented with a range of duotones and effects to create a more interesting visual. I felt this would give the flag a more abstract aesthetic which would work well in an exhibition setting.
Present
The artwork was finalised and sent to print in the Netherlands. The work was exhibited on the 6th of December at a gallery in Manchester, hosted by Dr.Me.
I put together some alternates that were routed in complimentary colour contrasts. I thought these had more impact. I wanted to present these to the guys before sending the other to print.
