THE PRESIDENTIAL CROSS CHAT XRAY STEVE

At the weekly dinner meeting last Tuesday The Rotary Club of Diamond Creek had much

pleasure

in

welcoming

District

Governor John Gatt and his wife Eileen as they completed their round of formal club meetings in District 9790.

Overall John was very pleased with our club (of course he has to be!!!) and congratulated all members on their contribution and effort.

As both John

and Eileen are members of our club it was particularly pleasing to welcome them and hear their respective presentations.

WHAT HAPPENED at the MEETING LAST WEEK Notes 13th November Visiting Rotarians: Chris Chapple from THE RC of Eltham, Don Hamilton from RC of Rosanna. President Steve: President Steve introduced our District Governer John Gatt and Eileen. Paul Harris Fellow: Dg John presented a PHF to Robin Chapple. Robin amongst many things is the webmaster, web page developer, email manager (including solving many complicated email problems). He helps ensure hat the data on our website is up to date. Robin and the club also acknowledge Molly's contribution. RC of Yea are running a raffle $2 tickets and a Christmas fundraising project both supporting Dayspring Chldrens village. All tickets sold at themeeting. Christmas function is on December 9th from 12pm. Please let Geoff know how many guests you will be bringing. Santa is coming around 1.30. RC Kinglake ranges will have Peter Ryan as guest speaker next Wednesday (21st). Please confirm if you are attending. Ryla - we have 1 confirmed attendee, and one more to interview later this week. Town fair roster - revised roster will be out tomorrow. Last town fair meeting before the town fair. Next Tuesday there will be our ohs meeting - all volunteers please attend Probus - Mernda - formation meeting on 26th November with 48 members and possibly another 10 or 12 on the day. 5cent challenge - please try to fill these by 4th December when they will be tallied! This is moving from a club project to a district and possibly national project. Sergeant Arthur confused reality and fined a number of otherwise innocent Rotarians. DG John Gatt Eileen presented a number of banners to the club Eileen presented a short video on the 'learn grow' project, and presented a summary of the project. The project started by the RC of devonport, and is geared around e principles of sustainability. Lg includes information about the nutrition of plants and how to prepare them safely for food. 1 in 7 people go to bed hungry each day. Aid programs often involve foods that are not suited to growing in the target community. Transporting grain can be difficult for a number of reasons. Lg identifies needy countries and identifies plants that are local and communicates information about the food value of these plants in the local language. Peace through Service has a different meaning for each of us. DG John is tracking the service delivered to communities to see the amount that each club has contributed through service. DG John presented banners from RI to our club for: 100% sustaining members, 100% member participation & number 1 contribution to foundation in the district. Also recognised for supporting the $200m challenge, also a letter acknowledging us as a top contributor amongst all clubs in the world. Raffle $105 S Fines $40 RC Yea raffle $40 SPot $9.20
