Editor’s Thoughts Dear friends, One early morning, during a training session, a young lady came jogging besides me and we were chatting away for the full 45 minutes as we were running. It was only at the end of the run, when she mentioned her full name, I recalled reading it every week last year in our Rotary members’ list and being unable to place a face to it.. I expressed my profound delight on meeting her and urged the couple to get involved in anything in Rotary that interests them… That set the ball in motion, she’s taken up responsibility for the upcoming Gorewada Wild Life Week and promised to contribute at projects that focus on education and literacy.

So friends, Pick your choice : reach out to the underprivileged, share time and happiness with them; lend support to our Medical teams as they provide their professional services selflessly, develop camaraderie and bonding while enjoying the fellowsips; help the environment be a cleaner place, stay involved and connected…. So that every one of us is able to picture a face to every name in our Rotary family.

Rotary Around Us Nation Builder Awards Nation Builders Awards; an initiative by Rotary India Literacy mission is an effort to recognize outstanding teachers for their enormous contribution towards the enhancement of quality of education. Over the last two years, more than 8,000 teachers have been felicitated under this initiative. This year, on 6 th September, Rotary Nagpur Enclave felicitated 80 teachers of Zilla Parishad schools at a function at Chitnavis Centre. 62 teachers were selected by D.I.E.T (District Institute of Education and Training) and 18 teachers were nominated by various Rotary Clubs of Nagpur. Rotary Club of Nagpur was the lead club in this event. Chief Guest of the event was Honorable Mayor Mrs. Nanda Jichkar and prominently present was DG Rtn Rajiv Sharma along with members of other Rotary clubs.

Earlier a press conference to brief media for the event was held on 5th September 2018. A warm welcome and breakfast to the enthusiastic teachers started the day; Rtn Ragini Sahu and Rt anns Archana Jain and Mamta Kahai ably completed registration of teachers and members of other Rotary Clubs. Rt Ann Varsha Paranjpe was Master of Ceremony, she conducted the proceeding very smoothly.

President Kapil Bahri welcomed all the dignitaries for lighting of lamp and escorted them to dais. District Chair Rtn Rajesh Vyawahare briefed the gathering about the awards.

Prominent speaker Mr. Vilas Kale addressed the gathering about change in teaching techniques and to incorporate them to make teaching more effective. District Secretary Rtn Meeta Shaw introduced Honorable Mayor Mrs. Nanda Jichkar. In her speech, Honorable Mayor insisted that we should encourage teaching in our vernacular language.

She also suggested that there should be fewer burdens on children for studies in their young age. Rtn Shweta Singh Introduced DG Rtn Rajiv Sharma who congratulated teachers and kept everyone in good humor by his anecdotes.

It was a pleasure meeting RI President Nominee (designate) Sushil Gupta in his elegant office during my recent visit to Delhi. My meeting was all about spending some quality time with near and dear one who has risen to such great heights through his dedication and distinguished service to Rotary. Congratulating RIPN Sushil Gupta I’ve extended our invitation to him to visit RCN any time convenient to him now or during the Platinum Jubilee Year of our RCN. HEALTH CHECK UP CAMP A very successful health awareness and eye examination camp was held at Lemdeo Patil Mahavidyalaya at Mandhal, Kuhi Taluka, Ambhora road, Umred state highway on 8 September. Dr. Anuradha Ridhorkar (M.D.Gynecologist) and Dr. Nikhil Joshi (Oncologist) took the sessions on Adolescence with girls and boys respectively. Dr. Sameer Gadhe, Dr. Rafat Khan and Asst. Roshini conducted eye examination of over 700 students.The management of the college had made excellent arrangments for conducting the camp smoothly. th

EYE DONATION 2 eye donations have been successfully conducted this quarter. In appreciation of the generous donation of eyes of the deceased Mrs.Silloo Bhagwagar and Mr. Naresh Malji, a memento was presented to the families through “Eyes Through Rotary Committee”.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP A blood donation camp was organized by DATTA MEGHE INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES, NAGPUR on 14th September 2018 at college premises by Rotary Club of Nagpur. Team of Life line Blood Bank collected 44 total units.

From July to September 2018 ; 38 blood bags have been given free of charge to needy patients as approved by the Blood Donation Team from Life line Blood bank.

SKIN DONATION From July to September 2018 Skin bank has received 3 skin donations.

We are grateful to the families for their magnamity in their time of grief.

4th September 2018 FRESH BRIGADE AT WONDERLAND HIGH SCHOOL After the customary lighting of the lamp by President Rtn. Kapil Bahri, Hon Sec Rtn. Nilufer Rana Rtn. Anjuli Minocha, Director of the school Rtn Gurjeet Kaur and Rt ann Ruchi Uppal, portfolios were distributed amongst new team and annual report was read out by the past President of Interact club. Prez Kapil, in his speech guided the students about the workshop and new activities that will be undertaken during this year.

Rtn Gurjeet Kaur laid emphasis on the importance of being a good Samaritan; she informed about the upcoming projects for the students. Past Presidents Rtns Khushnoor Chugh and Tauby Bhagwagar graced the occasion.

Youth Service 7th September 2018 INTERACT CLUBS AT JAMALI ENGLISH SCHOOL HUSSAMIYAH BOYS & HUSSAMIYAH GIRLS SCHOOL The proceedings were conducted by two girl students of Jamali School who did a fabulous job. The new team was installed by President Rtn Kapil Bahri, PP Tauby Bhagwagar, Hon Sec Rtn Nilufer, Dir Youth services Rtn Anjuli,& Rt.ann Reema Sial. Outgoing interact presidents, Zahabiya Shaikh, Daniyal Ansari & Affra Ansari of the individual schools presented their reports. Newly installed interact president Bushra Khan, Mohammad Saad,& Madiha promised to keep up the good work in the coming year. President applauded the work done by outgoing team and wished success to the incoming team.

12th September 2018 FIRST TIMERS FROM BVM KHAPERKHEDA A new feather in our cap was the Installation of new Interact club which comprises of students of Std 7th & 8th President Kapil Bahri, PP Tauby Bhagwagar, Hon Sec Rtn Nilufer, Dir Youth services Rtn Anjuli & Rt. ann Reema Sial were present for the Ceremony. The newly elected team promised to fulfill their duties towards Rotary. Newly Installed President Sumit Jat announced that they would try and take up good projects throughout the year. The school premises are beautiful, with lush greenery all around. The Art teachers were making an Eco Friendly Ganesha idol for the School Children to kick start the Ganesh Festivities.

The incoming President Aparajita Sharma briefed the gathering about the plan of action for the year 2018. Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Rtn. Nilufer Rana, Rtn.Anjuli Minocha and Rt ann Ruchi Uppal. The Principal Mrs. Anmol Badjatia congratulated the Interactors and praised the efforts of the Teacher Incharge Mrs.Lata Pant for motivating them.

Youth Service 17th September 2018 NEW INTERACT TEAM AT ST XAVIER’S HIGH SCHOOL New team was installed by Vice President Rtn Sandip Dhodapkar; in his address he briefly explained the importance of Interact movement. He appreciated the team for their efforts and activities conducted during the past year. The School’s Principal Mrs. Shashibala Dhotekar guided the students with her encouraging words and motivated the students to Be The Inspiration for the society.

Youth Service INTERACT and ROTARACT ACTIVITIES KERALA RELIEF BY INTERACTORS Compassion is one of the things we try to instill in our interactors, an appeal was made by Seva Kitchen to collect grains to be sent for flood relief; Interactors from various schools contributed for this disaster. Modern School, NK Academy, Royal Gondwana School, South Point School, Omkar Nagar and Hanuman Nagar , Centre Point School, Katol Road and Amrawati Bypass, Wonderland School, BVM Civil lines and St. Ursula Girls High School collected grains which have been sent to Kerala .

1st September : LECTURE ON TIME MANAGEMENT Motivational speaker Rtr. Madhuri spoke to students on the importance of *Time Management* 7th September : TREE PLANTATION Rotaractors planted 20 saplings in their college premises and at Dikshabhoomi. All Rotaractors took an oath to look after the saplings.

14th September : CIVIC AWARENESS A Propoganda to “Wear Helmets” was conducted.

TRAFFIC AWARENESS (GANDHIGIRI) 16 Rotaractors took up an initiative to create awareness amongst public regarding traffic rules while driving vehicles by giving roses to all those who did not follow traffic rules.

20th September : NIRMALAYA RATH A moving mini truck had been arranged to go into various localities to collect Nirmalaya; in an attempt to reduce the disposal in the water bodies and save the environment. 15 Rotaractors participitated in this drive at Zenda Chowk, Dharampeth.

23rd September : NIRMALAYA COLLECTION 40 Rotaractors were there to help in the Nirmalaya Collection drive of RCN at Futala lake form 3p.m to 7.30 pm.

They convinced the public of handing over the garlands, decorative artifacts etc to them and not dump it in the lake. Events were planned and executed under the guidance of TIC Ms. Siriya and Rtns Sandeep Vaid and Harshit Jain.

ROTARACT CLUB OF DATTA MEGHE COLLEGE 14th September : BLOOD DONATION Blood Donation Camp at College campus. Total 44 units were collected. Chairperson Rtn Harshit Jain coordinated the camp with Lifeline blood bank.

Monsoon Fellowship The much awaited first fellowship of this year i.e. the Monsoon Fellowship was held on the 9 of September at a new venue – The Nagpur Ashok. th

The same was very well attended with over 170 Rotarians and their families joining in the festivities to savor the bouquet of the performances presented on that day. The performances included songs and dances performed by the Rotarians, Rotary Annes and Rotakids. The other highlight was the participation by the inbound IYE long term students not only from our Club but also those of the other clubs of the District.

The program was conceptualized and executed by Rotarian Rajiv Yashroy, Director – TRF with the enthusiastic and involved support of Chairpersons Anne Wilkinson, Chetna Singhal, Ruchi Chaudhary and Shweta Singh. The evening was hosted by Zohra Master and Rahul Chaudhary. PP Dr. Sanjiv Chugh was the Advisor for the event and President Kapil and Hon Secretary Nilufer provided rock solid support and encouragement which ensured the overall success of this program.

Save the Environment Nirmalya Collection Project As our city and its people start gearing up for arrival of Ganpati, our club too starts getting ready for our Nirmalya Collection Flagship Project which is held every year at Futala Lake. Team ‘Green city’ ,’Eco Ganpati ‘ chairpersons , Rotaract chairpersons and all those who are dedicated to this project joined hands and worked very hard to make it possible.

This year three days were selected, on the seventh day 19th September Rotarians did a Nirmalya collection drive to convince people not to immerse idols in the lake. Though not many people came for Visarjan, it was motivating that they all did so in artificial tanks. Along with our Rotarians present we also had Interactors from The Jain International School taking part with great enthusiasm.

On 20th September, two Nirmalya Raths were arranged, one started from Zanda chowk and the other from Ginger mall, Jaripatka. For two hours, 56 Rotaractors, 11 Rotarians and 3 IYE students enthusiastically visited pandals and even some houses and collected nirmalya. It was heartening to see people cooperating and being supportive. On 23rd September, main day of Ganesha idol immersion, 35 Rtns, Rt anns, rotakaids and 385 Rotaractors from 13 different colleges were present from 3pm to 9:30pm. It was a humongous task and the hours spent there and our numbers seemed so less ... but there was a satisfaction on everyone’s face who were present braving the heat and humidity, that at least we managed to stop a large amount of Nirmalya going in the lake as most of the people willingly supported us and some even agreed to do immersion in artificial tanks. EVERY HAND COUNTED. I could feel the difference our club’s project has made over the years. Many people thanked us for the efforts, many asked our club’s name and many recognized us by our T- shirts and knew we would be there to protect lake.

A heartfelt thanks to President Kapil, Hon Secretary Nilufer, Director Navneet and his Rotaract team and Rotaractors, Entire ‘Team Green city’, ‘Eco- Ganpati ‘ chairperson Namita, Deepa, Cyrus Watchmaker, Parag Date,Tari, Jerestin, Ruch, Aalya, Ricky, Varsha, Parag with kids, Chetna, Timmy, Shweta, Prashish, Mamta, Prince, Poonam, Suruchi Agarwal, Fatema, Zaheer, Rajeev Yashroy, Melissa, Danny, Nita Singh, Shamsha, Meeta and also to all who could not be present but have supported the cause and teams by appreciating and encouraging the work done. Weekly Meeting 13th September : Chatpata Nagpur Chatora Nagpur On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi members enjoyed a mouth watering meeting. Admin Nagpur Foodies Shoeb Meman, deliciously informed the members about ‘Changing Eating Trends of Nagpur’ taking the members on a culinary Joy ride. Shoeb shared how due to sparse options for food variety, food exploring became a hobby !

He added knowledge about various small & big catering places to the foodies. A quiz was conducted to identify the source of a dish & food juncture. Gifts and Food Vouchers were given to the winners. Rtn Sameer Agrawal introduced the guest speaker. Project announcements were made by Rtn Anjuli Minocha about Interact Installations, Life Skills workshops and Project Nirmalaya and by Rt ann Vinita Bahri on Gorewada Wild life Week. Pres Kapil informed about cancer awareness camp and Rtn Sameer Agrawal shared about next week’s program “Savdhan India”.

Bharti Gidwani ; Rtn since 2011 20th September : “Savdhaan India “ by Tarun Shrivastava After customary greetings, program and project announcements were made. IPP Rina Sinha introduced 4 new members and they were inducted in RCN fold. President informed about formation of special purpose vehicle by Rotary for Kerala Flood Relief and urged members to donate for the noble cause. Rtn Daveendeep Dhingra introduced Mr. Tarun Shrivastava. Presentation started with common examples of cyber crime; he warned that the next war may be cyber war. He talked about positive and negative aspects of modern technology and also about care or precautions to be taken while using mobiles, computers, ATM, email, etc. Mr. Tarun informed about types of cyber crimes such as Email spoofing, email abuse, Phishing attack, Hacking, Data theft, Credit/Debit card frauds, Spam mails, Social media crimes. He also informed audience about Deoghar and Jamtara which have became phishing call hubs and the way youngsters are trained by so called crime gurus in fraud technology. An evening well spent with Rtn Sandip Dhodapkar introducing the Panelists PP Rtn Atul Shah, Rtn Jehangir Doongaji, Rt ann Dr. Rajasi Sengupta, Rtn Dinesh Chhabra and Rtn. Dr.Vivek Harkare. Dr.Vivek Harkare’s honest confession that doctors are poor financial planners and businessman was an icebreaker, Jangu enlightened the gathering with his personal experiences both sweet and sour in his exceptional tangy style, Dr. Rajasi presented the crowd with her perspective in how medical field has been corporatarised by influx of professionals from medical & non medical fraternity; Dinesh Chhabra shared his experiences on Patent Doctor Relationships and the institution called family doctor. PP Atul enlightened the crowd on how the society has changed all over with expectations like a plush lobby, lavish cafeteria; patient and disease taking a back seat in this Glitzy Corporate Hospital World. An excellent enlightening session on patient doctor relationships, changing culture of medical professionals & insight on corporate medical setups in the city. Earlier Micro Credit was distributed to 12 beneficiaries.

A set of tablature and harmonium was donated and lunch was sponsored for 130 children in the memory of Late Jassu Ben by Rtn Hira Mulani on 27th September 2018. - Rabindranath Tagore This line summarizes this ever smiling, beautiful and charming lady of our Rotary club. She is a strong individual who always puts in her best efforts in all the tasks and tries to reach high. Without her the substantial growth in the quality of activities of our club would have gone unnoticed. She with her high standards handles all the correspondence and communication and provides support as the backbone to the President and the club. She is our very own Secretary Rtn. Nilufer Rana.

Nilufer as a Mumbaikar was born on 25th November. After finishing her Graduation in 1994, she pursued her post graduation in Commerce from the most sought after Mithibai College, Mumbai. As a true believer of ‘stars lie within yourself’, this lady didn’t believe in settling for anything less than stars, so to learn from the best of the best in the field, she joined as a Cost Accounting Intern with Hindujas Gulf Oil. She had a vision and clarity of thought at such a Young age that she did this internship while she was still in her second year of college. Following this stint with commerce and accounting, our stylish Secretary finished her education by securing a diploma as a fashion designer too!!

This bold and the beautiful girl from Mumbai was bowled over

by Mahernosh Rana who belongs to the illustrious family of Dinshaw’s, grandson of Dinshaw Rana; who is also a post graduate in commerce and is into share trading business.

They got married on 14th November’ 1997. While talking about her marriage, she had twinkle in her eyes when she recalled those golden days when this Nagpuri Boy impressed her and swept away her heart with his caring, charming and easy going nature.

The Rana’s are blessed with 2 daughters and a son. The eldest is Zenia who is now 19 year old and like her Mom she too is doing her second year in commerce from the famous Mithibai College at Juhu. She is our little model who has also appeared in Femina magazine. Jinaisha is second born; she is 14 and studying in Centre point Katol. She loves to paint and bake and dreams to become a chef in Australia. Taronish

is the darling of the house. He is 12 and is already playing Badminton at district level. These multitalented kids are because of multitalented parents.

Nilufer really dreams very big and have a focused goal in whatever she does, be it painting, baking or endurance training in sports, hiking or trekking. She is a total pro in chess, badminton and table tennis. Her baby project RCL i.e. Ladies cricket League has won made our club proud too, she calls her teammates- Her Soul Sisters and no doubt the bonding they share is nothing less than that. The zeal that she develops to do all these is, because of her motto in life is ‘to go with the flow’. As a person by nature she is not the one who would wait for things to happen but she will try to make things happen.

Nilufer’s rotary journey started in 2004 when she first worked in Greetings Committee and used to meet the senior members personally on their birthdays. Because of her magnetic personality she got bonded very well. Then she worked in Youth Festival and for IYE Foundation, gradually became Director, Sergeant at arms and Joint secretary. She has been doing all her duties with utmost dedications and precision. She has won lots of laurels and accolades for herself and RCN at club and district levels including Best Lady Rotarian twice, Best Club Bulletin 2015-16 and Best Balanced Program 2015-16.

Her vision for rotary is true to its theme. Connect Serve and Smile. She wants and is trying to connect with maximum Rotarians and Rotary-anns by involving them in large number of projects and serving the community to the best of her abilities.

I am happy that I got the pleasure of her company through this interview and I wish her all the best in her endeavor in taking RCN forward by leaps and bounds.

Let Us Know Our New Members.. Strengthen RCN Rotarian Harshit Jain Meet our next gen enthusiastic Rotarian Harshit Jain who joined us in 2017. A pure Nagpurian, he did his Civil Engineering and is right now carrying forward his father’s business in the field of education-”Venus Book Centre”.

He is passionate about his friends whom he calls his lifeline. His life partner, is the charming and talented Surbhi Jain - he calls her “D-wine”- and describes her as the best friend he has. Surbhi graduated in accessory design from NIFT and owns her brand ‘Boriya Basta by Surbhi Jain’ which deals with hand woven products. Harshit loves trekking, long drives, badminton, event planning and socializing. Surbhi has a keen interest in doodling and capturing her travel stories through her art. She also loves dancing, singing and trying creative stuff. You must have seen her dancing in the last Charter night and Monsoon Fellowship programs. Harshit believes that through the club he can contribute in some kind of social work and also use it as a productive platform to explore talent. He firmly believes that the active participation and dedication of most of the members, as well as encouraging the young and new members to come forward and help, makes this club grow and stand out from other rotary clubs.

Rotarian Ritu Jaiswal Meet the sporty family of Ritu Jaiswal, who joined us in 2017. She is a Nagpurian and holds a degree in B Com and fashion designing.

Currently she helps hubby Prajot in running multiple family business ventures including liquor trade, Yonkers Shoes and a Dormitory facility ( The Home) in Sitabuldi. Ritu enjoys the gym, adventure sports, cycling and is a state level swimmer. She loves decorating her home. Prajot is a fitness enthusiast besides being an avid biker, having won many trophies for the same. They are blessed with two sons Vishrut 17 years and Jagrit 14 years, Vishrut is a black belt holder and has reached the National level in karate, besides having a creative and technical mindset. He is studying in MIT, Pune. Jagrit who studies in Class 9 plays football. Ritu loves Rotary for the opportunity to do social work and appreciates the dedicated way Rotarians and spouses work for all projects.

Let Us Know Our New Members.. Strengthen RCN Rotarian Karishma Hansles Meet the pretty and bubbly young talented lady from ShimlaKarishma- who joined our club in 2017. She is the daughter in law of Mr. Ashok Hansles who has been a Rotarian since years. She is married to Aum Hansles. Karishma completed her schooling from Convent of Jesus & Mary and later went to St. Bedes College. Thereafter she studied B.Com (Hon) in University of Delhi and holds an MBA degree from Symbiosis International University ( Pune). Since the Hansles are the hospitality family who have been serving the city of Nagpur since almost 70 years, with Aum being the Managing Director of Ashoka Restaurant and Veeraswami, Karishma has comfortably fitted into being the incharge of Accounts & Marketing department of the same.

Karishma is also a freelance writer, specializing in quotes and short stories. She is a trained semi classical and contemporary dancer- we have watched her graceful participation in the last Charter night and Monsoon fellowship dances on stage. She is propelled by a zeal to keep learning in life. Aum loves Travelling & learning about new cultures and cuisines. He is equally fond of cars and collecting different styles of watches. Above all he is a complete gadget freak.

Karishma joined Rotary with the belief that somewhere, no matter how tiny, she can still contribute towards a better change in our society and environment. Presently at Rotary, she is the chairperson of Golden Orange and Ladies Committee. She loves our club and considers it her extended family and a gift Nagpur has given her. The warmth and humility of our members makes her feel appreciated.

Rotarian Dr. Lata Meghrajani Meet our busy Nagpurian Gynaecologist Dr Lata Meghrajani who recently joined us in 2018. She is an MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a consultant at the Sat Pratap Hospital on Kamptee Road.

She has a dance and music loving family. While Lata loves music and dance, her husband Ramesh, a Consultant Structural Engineer enjoys singing and music too. They have two pretty daughters, Dr Aarzoo, 24 years, an MBBS doctor preparing for PG studies and Tamanna 19 years, a second year law student who loves reading.

Both the girls are trained Kathak dancers. Aarzoo has won many prizes for her dancing skills. Lata joined Rotary not only for an opportunity to do social work, but also to build new relationships and learn new things.

Back to School Another wonderful school year Is about to star I will make new friends And will have so much fun* I always look forward to school's new session when I will have new classroom, new books, and above all new friends and we start afresh. The school will feel like a huge home run. The teachers will help us to learn so much. I love most is new experiments in my favorite Chemistry Lab where the chemicals change their state and colour. All friends share their Lunch box and we have so much fun in that half an hour of break. The whole day passes by so fast and I look forward for another morning.

The time I spend in the school is the best time of the day. We share teamwork, togetherness, love and affection. Friends are treasure of my life. But I wonder should there be school for elders too so that they learn to stay bonded. We will have beautiful place to live only when there is no space for ego, hatred and conflicts.

Let the elders be the lush green garden and the children be the blooming beautiful flowers.

Travel’ure MESMERISING MEMORIES Trek to the Valley of Flowers and The Hemkund Saheb Gurudwara My Trek to the Valley of flowers was one of the most eventful, learning , soul warming experience of my life and I feel very proud to say that majority of people on this trek with me were the members of RCN and the remaining are working as partners in service with RCN… So to start with as Jhangu says… RCN Rocks !!

Day 1- We boarded from Nagpur & reached Haridwar early morning by Nandadevi Express and left straight away for Auli. We were 8 of us travelling in 3 Innovas. Knowing the weather condition well in mountains our trekker friend Ritesh suggested that we keep a spare day and if all goes well, we shall party on the last day! Auli is 310 Km away & takes 8-10 hrs to reach, but actually took us 36 hrs. Due to landslides we got stuck in huge traffic jams. By Gods grace all went fine with just 2 incidences of small rocks hitting the rear of our taxi. Landslides are a very common phenomena in monsoon in Uttarakhand but the efforts of police and the administration, who are on their toes 24x7 to clear the roads, are commendable. Enroute we witnessed beautiful confluence of the rivers Bhagirathi and Alakhnanda, forming mighty Ganaga ji.

Day 2- Finally we reached Auli the next evening. Watching the Sun shining miraculously on the tip of the Nandadevi mountain peak looked breathtakingly awesome and unwinding. I was in strange mix of emotions. I was excited having witnessed multiple landslides from a very short distance and dubious about the delays it would cause to our trek. Our experienced guide Sumit answered all our qualms and tantrums with a stoic smile and managed to assuage our fears and queries and reminded us to take Dimox tablet to avoid altitude sickness.

Day 3- Next day we traveled from Auli to Govindghat and then Poolna which is at an altitude of 6250 ft. From where we started our trek to Ghangaria which is 10 Km away and is at 10400 ft. It is steep climb and was a difficult terrain for all of us. Ghangharia is a small village where you can see pilgrims and trekkers to Hemkund Sahib and The Valley Of Flowers as from here the trekking routes for both the places are separated.

Enroute Ghangharia we witnessed nature at its best. The mountains and the sound of flowing water was a treat.

Seriously it was like a picture postcard which I think can give serious competition to any beautiful European country.

Finally we reached our base camp which was 500 metre before Ghangaria. It had no mobile network. So, we were away from the mobile technology. It was just I, ME, MYSELF & my teammates! We all were dead tired by the end of the day and were wishing if we could get a foot massage… and there came a father son duo asking… Bhaiya maalish kar dun kya?? We all were like… Bhagwan tera to be continued..... bhala kare!!

Vocation Tell-A-Tale ‘Bend so you don’t break’ As children, Anvita and I understood yoga like chawanprash; good for health and simply had to be done once a day. Since our mothers had ensured that this practice was inculcated while we were young, even when we moved out of our homes, yoga came along with us.

While I moved to London and completed my Masters in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, Anvita moved to Bangalore to study design at Srishti.

Somewhere in the midst of deciding our professions and future lives, we both were introduced to a program known as ‘Inner Engineering’ by Isha Foundation, which became a turning point in our lives.

The rebellious-hung-over-twenty-somethings who did little else but party had a new life that even our parents found it hard to fathom. We were energetic, woke up at dawn, ate healthy, took responsibility and were simply joyful to be around. We did our yoga regularly and the effects trickled in our homes and at work. People around us could feel the difference and began inquiring what had changed.

Deciding to explore yoga in its complete entirety, Anvita and I decided to complete the Isha Hatha Yoga Teacher training program and offer these tools to others.

We packed up and moved to the ashram for 21 weeks, immersing ourselves for a 1750 hour long intensive program that taught us not just physical yoga but also about physiology, anatomy, siddha, food and nutrition, nada yoga, pranayama and meditation. It was during this training that we truly understood the meaning of ‘yoga’. Yoga was not just body bending business but a way of living life with complete involvement. Right from the food we ate to how we slept, walked, dressed, spoke or breathed, it was all ‘yoga’ and this became our way of life.

Empowered with our certification, we founded Yoga Netri in Nagpur in 2016 to offer these tools of transformation for others to find harmony, balance and stability at the level of the mind, body and energy across all age groups and locations. In the last two years, Yoga Netri and its team of four teachers have touched hundreds of lives in Egypt, Denver, Nagpur, Kolkata, Pune, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Austin, Houston, San Diego, California and Los Angeles.

Our centre in Nagpur now has two full time teachers and workshops throughout the month. Our unique methodology of teaching offers yoga in its purest form, supported with descriptive videos, personal attention and detailed corrections for each practice at our consecrated studio in Civil Lines.
