The event started with a warmup exercise and Zumba dance to the tune of popular Bollywood music at the Pune University. With over 500 registrations and members from laughter clubs, the participants were charged up to go. Dr Hema, spouse of DG Anil Parmar, along with Pune’s Ironman Dashrath Jadhav, flagged off the first batch of 10km run, which was followed by the next batch of 5km run, and finally the 3km group.

All the finishers were given a medal. “The joy on the faces of senior citizens after they received the medals showed that we have achieved our objective of the event, that is, making the elders realise ‘yes, we can also do it,’” said Sudhir Bapat, president-elect (2023–24), RC Pune Pride.n
