There’s no better way to embrace the beauty of nature than by running or walking through it. As runners and walkers, we are fortunate to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment throughout our training and experience each of the four seasons in a unique way. Recognizing the important link between runners and walkers and the natural environment, the Williams Route 66 Marathon works to protect these natural assets to ensure that future generations may also experience the same feelings of exhilaration for many years to come. We hope you will join us in our mission of conservation and sustainability! Thanks to the combined efforts of the board of directors, many community partners, and environmentally-minded race participants and spectators, the Williams Route 66 Marathon has been recognized by the Council for Responsible Sport for our sustainability efforts as a Certified Sustainable Event. This important designation shows the Marathon’s continued commitment to preserving Tulsa’s natural beauty and resources while putting on a worldclass endurance event. We are committed to being a no-waste event; all of the waste generated during race weekend is recycled, donated, or composted! The Williams Route 66 Marathon team challenges itself to look for new ways to reduce the environmental footprint of all race weekend activities. We encourage participants and fans to join us in this endeavor and help make this year our best, most environmentally friendly event ever! Sustainability is a group effort and each of us can play an important role in making the Williams Route 66 Marathon a more environmentally friendly event. Here’s how you can help: • Donate your used running shoes at the

Health, Fitness, and Sustainability Expo. • Carpool or ride your bike to the start line on race day. • Use your own water bottle on the course. • Watch for recycling stations along the course and use them. • Throw cups, used gel packs, and other waste in trash cans along the course — please don’t litter!

Welcome to the Route 66 Marathon Finish Line!
