Dec

Climate change epitomizes, in the extreme, everything we know about tough social challenges: how they arise, why we get stuck, and what it takes to make progress. It demonstrates the extreme fullness of our world and the global interdependence this produces. It exemplifies extreme dynamic, social and generative complexity: cause and effect interlinked and separated by decades and continents; deeply differing perspectives and priorities among the world-wide actors involved; and a situation that no one has ever faced before. All participants will recive at free copy of “Love and Power” Price: Free Host: Adam Kahane

Acting Together at the Root of the Climate Crisis
Dec
10
This workshop proposes that dealing with climate change through negotiation between governments is seriously inadequate. We, the citizens of the world, need to take responsibility by first understanding what is behind climate change--including the global financial system and the global monetary system, which lead to unbridled competition and consumption. Education and coordinated action through citizens’s panels in dialogue with groups of experts are proposed, through a blueprint for change that can be applied locally and regionally. Multi-media presentation, using slides, film clips and other media. Price: 10 Euro Hosts: Leo Burke and Carolyn Lee
Time: December 10, 2009 from 9am to 12:30pm Location: Room 204, Nørre Alle 7, København N

The Change Lab: Coping with the complexity of Climate Change
Dec
10
Today’s climate change situation is characterized by enormous complexity. Relying on past experience to figure out what to do is no longer sufficient. If we always do what we’ve always done, we’ll always get what we always got. So, if we want to address this complex challenge, then we have to learn a different approach. This approach has to be not piece-meal but systemic; not relying exclusively on authorities and experts, but including all key stakeholders. This one day course introduces the approach and capacities of the Change Lab. Price: 100 Euro Time: Dec 10, from 9am - 5pm
Host: Adam Kahane, Jeff Barnum and Mille Bojer, Reos Partners Location: Room 305, Nørre Allé 7, 2200 København N
