1. EXT. CITY OF CAPE TOWN -ESTABLISHING A series of inductive shots - close ups - on Cape Town details and surroundings. Move to more deductive shots of Cape Town - buildings, people, traffic, general lifestyle. 2. EXT. WALL - MORNING Jean Marc and Moses stand in front of a wall. They stare into frame, emotionless, with their decks resting at their side. Portrait perspective. VO I suppose from a distance we can seem like vagrants. It’s just a matter of perspective... 3. EXT. CITY OF CAPE TOWN. DAY Jean Marc and Moses skate through the different locations of town. They effortlessly make their way through traffic and pedestrians. It becomes overwhelmingly still, as we become familiar with the skaters and their boards. Next three scenes to inter cut with the above montage: 4. EXT. FENCE. DAY Jean Marc and Moses are running from a security guard. They were trespassing on private property. The jump a fence hurriedly leaving the security guard behind. 5. EXT. SKATING LINE (1). DAY Moses and Jean Marc rail a bathtub that’s neatly placed in a parking bay, next to the street. They follow each other, each doing something different as they pass the tub. 6. EXT. SKATING LINE (2). DAY Either Jean Marc or Moses tries a line and fails, we show their frustration as they either scream or break their board. CUT TO:
2.
7. EXT. BRIDGE. DAY Moses and Jean Marc walk across a bridge. For the first time we’ve cut from the skating montage and time seems to slow down as we see the two friends walking across. Decks in hand, they seem content. VO As humans we’re constantly striving towards freedom. Skating gives us exactly that. And for an elusive split second of total being - time can stand still. 8. EXT. CAPE TOWN STREETS. DAY Montage: We’ll a sequence of shots all focusing on the brilliance that skaters can achieve with their boards. This is a trick montage of rails, flips and jumps. This is the main sequence showcasing what it means to be a skater from their perspective. What it means to them. CUT TO: 9. EXT. BRIDGE. DAY We are now back on the bridge with Jean Marc and Moses. We are close, seeing the two friends laugh and joke as they walk across. Juxtapose the traffic and the two of them walking over it. VO I suppose from a distance we can seem like vagrants. It’s just a matter of perspective. FADE TO BLACK.
