Finally! I am Alright With Me I am alright with me, the gray hair, full hips, lips and brown skin that I see. It wasn’t always this way, I wasn’t always, alright with me. It has taken time, years as a matter of fact, to say, God Created a special person- when he created this woman that I have grown to be. When I was younger and standards were different, I wanted thin lips, lighter skin and softer hair. The women in my life told me, be patient, in time you will be there. I wanted to look, walk and talk like others I saw on T. V. But that was not who I was created to be. Yes, it has taken time for me to be able to say, I AM Alright with me. I am wondrously made, a creation like no other. Though I may resemble my mother or another. It has taken time, tears and faith for me to see, that God created me, exactly the way he wanted me to be. I am--- Alright with me. Now I understand the words of those wiser than me, be patient-wait, you will learn to love the person you were created to be. They were right, my full lips that I wanted to go away, Others pay dearly to have their lips plumped, and are called sexy and beautiful today. My hair, though now streaked with gray, I have learned is special in so many ways. It can be an afro, straight, braids or waves, I am unique and special you see. I have beautiful brown skin, I have learned to embrace, the color of coffee lightened with cream, not a lot, just a trace. I am Alright with me. Full figured, thick thighs and full hips, well put together with my hair, brown skin and full lips. The television no longer dictate my feelings about me I have this relationship with a loving God, who said I created you specifically. Praise God, Finally! I AM Alright With Me…

Finally Pleased with the way God My Creator, Created Me Pastor Nannie German . 6

How to Use Social Media to Land Your Next Job Social media is all the rage. Twitter, Face book, LinkedIn, YouTube, and more seem to be everywhere. In social media like these, we get constant updates about the relevant and not-so-relevant aspects of everyone's lives. Here, we'll consider a practical application of social media: finding your next job. Social media gives you great tools for sharing information electronically with a potentially very large audience.

Try these strategies to help you land a great job: Focus your attention on people instead of companies. For instance, if you're interested in a particular company, look at blogs and on Facebook for people who work there. You're likely to also see the other people they know. Maybe you share an acquaintance or two. You can submit resumes to them, ask for advice, and get more contacts. You'll want to be subtle; people are unlikely to be happy about being bombarded with job requests on their own time. By starting out with a few non-intrusive messages, you should be able to make in-roads toward your goal. Start your own blog. By putting out content that showcases your knowledge and expertise, people will begin to see you as an expert. Blogs are easy to start, and many websites will host yours for free. Other than the work involved, it's free advertising for your skills. Use Twitter. It's becoming common to hear stories of people getting laid off, sending out a few Tweets proclaiming their new unfortunate job status, and ultimately finding a new position as a result of their Tweets. With Twitter, word spreads quickly. Companies are beginning to use this tool as well, for this same reason. Recruiters use Twitter to announce positions and give updates.

8

Here's a quick Twitter tutorial: Go to Twitter.com and fill out your profile completely, including a professional photo of yourself. Follow everyone you know. Also follow everyone who seems like they might be able to help you find a position. Tweet away. Take advantage of video. In addition to more usual social media tools, video is becoming increasingly relevant. Upload a video resume to YouTube and let the world know what you can do and what you're looking for. Check out other video resumes to get a feel for how it's done. When creating a video, keep brevity in mind. Explain your background; describe what you're looking for and why you'd be the best person for the job. Take your time and get it right - you can rerecord as often needed. Consider Paid Advertising on Social Media. Also, consider Google AdWords and Facebook advertising to put the word out that you're in job-search mode. To do this, you'll need to make a landing page with your resume. Adding a blog, video resume, and any publications you authored would be helpful as well. Social media is here to stay, so you might as well use it for something constructive. Finding employment is never enjoyable, but utilizing social media can really make a difference. Never before has the average person had so much capability to reach so many people. Craft your message and get it out there every way you can think of. There's no bigger event happening in the U.K. this year than the Summer Olympics 2012 in London. Just a couple of months away, if you're not actively planning your trip by now, you bloody well should be. Planning is essential when traveling overseas. Cosport is the sole U.S. ticket distribution as you might expect, the majority of tickets that are left will be costly - since sales started last year. Please look for reasonable offers exclusive of flights or accommodation packages. Unless you fancy paying more than $10,000 for Olympics tickets package - then it you may need to look elsewhere.

Most Brits are finding that they overstretched themselves in the ticket bidding process and attempting to sell them back. With a $31,600 dollar penalty for selling Olympic tickets on the open market, Brits are unlikely to be broadcasting their intentions on eBay. However, there’s a loophole that allows tickets to be sold to friends or family. However, be "cautious" - there has already been one U.S. woman who has fallen victim to crafty British con men.

12

Can't get a hold of tickets: GO Anyway! Kicking it off with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee sparks a raft of royal celebrations, including concerts and tea parties with aquatic extravaganza on the Thames. Throughout the summer, dozens of free art and music festivals are scheduled in conjunction with the Olympics, providing the cherry on top of what promises to be long London party.

Remembering the Father

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Encourage someone today. Give someone a call who have not heard from you in a long while. Encourage the fathers, as we celebrate this month. We are always talking about the mothers, but let’s not forget that there are many great men out there who need to know that we are by their side, supporting, encouraging, and we acknowledge the fathers! Death and life are in the power of the tongue! Many spend more time tearing down the man, because of negative experiences they have had, with men, and therefore kill….. everything thing that is positive with the mouth! Remember that our little boys are watching and hearing everything that you do and say! We want them to grow up and be strong, loving men! There are many good mentors still around who take time with children and care! We must be so careful how we speak of the male in front of our kids! The tongue can speak life or tear someone down. Encourage, life up, buildup and support! I want to say to all the great fathers out there “Happy Father’s Day!” To the men who work, hard and take care of their children. To the single farther who is raising his child alone without the mother. To the man who, will not put, nothing before his little boys or girls! To the man who, will make time to be with his children and show them love. To the men who love their children and are so proud to be called daddy! “Happy Father’s Day! “ In honor of the wonderful memories, I still have with my daddy, Roland Taylor Jr R.I.P. Gone but not forgotten daddy! I love you! You were a great and fun farther, who put nothing before his little girls! God Bless the fathers! Happy Father’s Day! Women’s HealtH You’re full on top, round on the bottom – or both – then this Curvy Girl’s Guide is for you! Dr. Oz shares how to celebrate your curves while preserving your health. Being healthy doesn’t mean being rail thin. In fact, your curvy figure-eight can be a perfect 10 when it comes to your health. Here, Dr. Oz reveals how to show off your best assets while getting rid of harmful fat. The great news is there are only two simple rules to staying both fit and fabulous when you’re curvy. The first rule is to “whittle your middle” by getting rid of belly fat. That unhealthy fat that collects around your waistline is often referred to as visceral fat, because it collects around the "viscera," or vital organs such as the liver, intestines, and kidneys. Left untreated, belly fat increases your risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. To make things worse, the fat itself can actually squeeze you like a vice, crushing your internal organs. By whittling your middle, not only will you dramatically improve your health, but you’ll be left with a beautiful, hourglass shape. Here’s how: Whittle Your Middle: L-arginine Supplement Studies show that people with excess belly fat actually have less growth hormone, without which they can’t properly distribute and break down fat. L-arginine is a super supplement that naturally boosts growth hormone levels, and is available at drugstores for $9 dollars a bottle. Take two 1000 mg tablets 3 times a day with meals and blast that visceral fat away. Whittle Your Middle: No Simple Carbs at Dinner If you don’t exercise after eating simple carbohydrates, they’ll go straight to your belly. That’s why it’s important you eat carb-heavy foods (think pasta, bread, potatoes, etc.) early in the day, so you can burn them off. At dinner, get your carbs from vegetables. Here are three delicious recipes

18

Minute Rice-Free Risotto This rice-free risotto made with cauliflower, Portobello mushrooms and Greek yogurt has a wonderfully creamy texture. Click here for the complete recipe.

Stabilize Your Curves: Low-Fat Milk As with soy, low-fat dairy helps mobilize fat to the areas you want – your hips, thighs and butt. As long as you aren’t lactose intolerant, try adding an 8-ounce glass of low-fat milk to every meal. You might have a cup in your morning cereal, a glass to accompany your lunch, and some delicious, dark chocolate milk after dinner for dessert. Stabilize Your Curves: Sculpt Power Move Want to challenge your core muscles from every angle while toning your thighs and boosting your behind? Try this sculpt power move! Stand with your legs apart and your hands behind your head. Then twist, lifting your right knee toward your left shoulder. Release your leg and squat. Then lift up, this time bringing your left knee toward your right shoulder. As you repeat this motion, you’ll burn calories and build muscle in your thighs and buttocks, highlighting your curves while contributing to a lifetime of wellbeing. Do three sets of 20 to start and work up to more.

Shop Talk With Kendra Quick Fix Hair Care We all have hair and scalp issues from time to time. The problems that you are having are not always “your diet”, but they could be seasonal, the wrong shampoo or conditioners, or over styling using too much product and possibly using it the wrong way. Following are 3 quick fixes that will hopefully help fix these problems in no time. Split ends are usually caused by over processing, over styling, hair accessories, rough treatment and also under conditioning. The only way to really get rid of split ends is to cut them off, despite what you’ve heard or all the products you’ve seen with empty promises at your local supply. Ends should be trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks, so please ladies, STOP holding on to ends that need to be gone! It just doesn’t look good to have length, but 3 inches of it is thin because of split ends. The perfect products for ends prone to splitting are moisturizing shampoos and conditioners (including leave-in conditioners), hair moisturizers and pomades. Try to minimize the heat and definitely protect your hair at night with a silk bonnet or scarf along with a silk or satin pillowcase. Dry, dull hair can come from chemical over processing, heat damage, salt water, chlorine, sun exposure and even poor circulation and poor diet. Using a moisturizing, sulfate free shampoo will keep from stripping the natural oils from the hair and scalp. Use conditioners such as hair masks, hot oil treatments, deep conditioning treatments and protein treatments depending on hair texture and severity. One solution that is popular right now and is a good investment is a hair steamer. The steaming process will allow the oils and/ or conditioner to penetrate up to 5 times more than a conventional hair dryer and will definitely leave your hair feeling soft and moist. To protect against heat damage, make sure you use a heat protectant to guard your hair strands before exposure to heat. Also, look for products that contain UV protectors on the label. To make hair more lustrous, adding a serum to the hair when styling will give hair a polished finish. Consult a professional as to proper treatments and hair maintenance needed. A Flaking scalp can be very irritating as those flakes lift up throughout the hair, especially if it’s combined with itching, tightness and inflammation. It doesn’t matter if it’s dandruff, dry scalp eczema or seborrheic dermatitis, you just want it fixed. Here’s the quick low down on the common “flaky” problems you’re facing: First of all you need to know what you’re dealing with: When you comb or brush your hair and you

20

notice tiny, dry, powdery bits on your dark blouse, you have dry scalp. If the flakes are larger and look slightly moist or greasy, they are dandruff. If you have large greasy flakes with a red, irritated scalp, you probably have seborrhea. If the scales stick to the scalp, it may be psoriasis. Dandruff and dry scalp are both forms of dermatitis. Dandruff is often mistaken for dry scalp. It’s said that dandruff is caused by an overgrowth of yeast that’s found on even healthy scalps. It is a result of skin cells dividing and multiplying at an accelerated rate that they reach the surface before they die and clump there. These flakes are white and scaly that can easily become infected, resulting in scabbing and inflammation (seborrheic dermatitis), usually linked with a food allergy or poor diet, and is aggravated by stress or excessive intake of dairy products and junk foods. Dry, flaky scalp can result from poor circulation, using harsh products causing natural oils to be stripped from the scalp and not sufficiently rinsing products from the scalp properly. Dry scalp can feel tight and accompanied by flakiness. If you have a dry, flaky scalp, use a clarifying shampoo (cider vinegar can be added) to remove dead skin cells and any build up of shampoo or conditioner on the scalp. Then try an oil treatment or scalp cream designed for dry, itchy scalps. Dandruff is seasonal, occurring more frequently and more severely from October to March, when your hair is exposed to dry indoor heat. The following rinses can be used every couple of weeks to help combat the flakes. (1) Blend ten drops of thyme essential oil with 100ml of apple juice, massage into the scalp, leave on for five minutes and rinse and follow with a mild shampoo. (2) Boil a few sprigs of Rosemary in 2 cups of water and cool. Rinse through the hair and massage into the scalp. Herbal antiseptics like tea tree oil that fights bacteria and yeast are great alternatives to dandruff shampoos. Also mild shampoos that include rosemary or sage can also help to control dandruff and won’t dry out your hair and scalp. Also take 500mg capsules of evening primrose oil every day until condition clears. Itchy red patches are a common sign of eczema or psoriasis. Consult a Trichologist if unsure. If you have either, it is more likely than not that your immune system is under stress. To treat at home, use a mild, sulfate free shampoo, then massage aloe vera juice into the scalp, leave on and style as normal. Aloe contains 18 amino acids as well as numerous vitamins and minerals. Aloe also contains anti-inflammatory properties; anti-bacterial properties, immune stimulating properties and general tissue repair properties. Perfect for eczema or psoriasis inflamed skin. If your scalp condition does not clear up or is an extreme case, please don’t go at it alone. Consult with a Trichologist or Dermatologist.
