GLEN TANAR ESTATE Glen Tanar was formed in the nineteenth century, when part of the lands of the Marquis of Huntly was leased, and then bought, by the Manchester merchant banker and MP, Sir William Cunliffe Brooks Brooks brought many changes to "The Glen": he built houses and bridges, the Tower of Ess, the Victorian Ballroom and the landscaped gardens - all of which can be seen and enjoyed today. In 1905, Glen Tanar was bought by George Coats, later Lord Glentanar. The present owners, Michael and Claire Bruce, are the fourth generation of the family to own and care for Glen Tanar. Situated in a beautiful glen at the heart of Royal Deeside and within the spectacular Cairngorms National Park, Glen Tanar Estate offers some of Scotland's most stunning scenery. We aim to make you feel at home, whether you stay in one of our luxury self-catering holiday cottages, enjoy one of the many outdoor activities on the estate; fishing, walking, cycling, Land Rover Safaris or photography opportunities. Use us as a base to explore Aberdeenshire or choose our ballroom as the venue for your wedding or event. We'll do our best to make your visit unforgettable.
