Whether you’re looking to take your skills to the next level or want to try drama for the first time, this dynamic and exciting youth theatre, led by The Core’s Lisa Byrne, is just the place to do that. Develop your voice, movement and character skills as you create a new piece to perform at The Core Youth Arts Slam on Fri 20 March.
An advanced training programme for committed performers aged 14-21. The group focuses on developing performance skills, working with visiting artists and innovative directors to make new and exciting work. Recent Core Actors productions have been showcased at Contacting The World and this term the group will perform at the regional National Theatre Connections Festival. Sparks
Work with choreographer and vocal coach Phia O’Keeffe to develop your singing, dancing and acting skills as you weave musical numbers into an original showcase performance for The Core Youth Arts Slam on Fri 20 March.
This exciting, lively and fun Youth Theatre, encourages young people aged 7 to 11 to bring their imaginations to life. Sparks performances are always a highlight of The Core Youth Arts Slam. This term’s performance is on Fri 20 March.

Moves Street Dance
An advanced training programme for dancers of all styles and backgrounds aged 14 to 21, culminating in a final production with a nationally-known choreographer in April 2015. Classes focus on developing technique, stamina, strength and skills with visiting artists and class choreographers. Show your moves and learn new techniques in this high energy dance class combining street, commercial and contemporary styles. Whether you’re a confident dancer or it’s your first time, work with choreographers David McKenna and Sophia Madden and perform at The Core Youth Arts Slam on Fri 20 March.

Writing East Midlands Young Writers Group
Tuesdays, 13 January – 17 March 6pm-8pm
Whether you’re an aspiring beats producer, film-maker, animator, songwriter or digital artist, Music & Media is a space for you to develop your own work. Using The Core’s suite of Macs, with industrylevel software, and supported by professional artists from the music and media industries, you will also get opportunities to showcase your work through live events at The Core and beyond. This vibrant new monthly group will support writers of all styles, from spoken word to short stories and plays to poetry, to develop their skills supported by professional writer Boston Williams. The atmosphere is fun and friendly and focussed on creativity. Those who want to perform their work will have the opportunity to do so, but those who don’t will feel no pressure. Ages: 13-25 Price: £3 per session

Produce your own events, projects, festivals and live shows, from coming up with the first idea to getting an audience through the door. Gain skills and experience in event management, programming, marketing, front of house and technical; with support available to achieve Silver or Gold Arts Award. Please note you will need to attend additional sessions near to event dates.
Whether you want to start an Arts Award from scratch here at The Core, or you are already working towards an Award at school or college, or you just want to find out more - this fortnightly drop in will give you the advice, support or guidance you need. Awards are available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, with the Gold Award worth UCAS points. What are you waiting for? If you are aged 50 or over, come to The Core and get creative with like-minded people in a warm, welcoming and social environment. This term make an original performance with director and choreographer David McKenna, that will include drama, dance and music.
Our monthly ‘open house’ for local performers and creative people of all kinds to jam, rehearse, collaborate, try out new ideas and make original work for our annual Local Artists Showcase events and other platforms. No need to book, just turn up and Play.
