STUDENT GUIDE


WHAT’S TO COME HANDS-ON TRAINING The Competition starts with a one-day in-person training session at the Shell headquarters in Singapore on Friday, 25 August 2017. You will get to learn more about scenarios, how they are built and then develop your very own for the competition. At least five members from each team are to attend this session.

COLLABORATION SPACE Teams can sign in to the collaboration space www.yammer.com/imaginethefuture20172018 to pose questions, respond to other students and review past experts calls.

2018 AUGUST

1 AUGUST 2017 – 21 AUGUST 2017 NO LATER THAN 1700HRS Competition registration opens and Eligible Students can register to participate in the Competition. The Competition is limited to the first five (5) teams or a maximum of forty (40) students. There will be a maximum of two teams from each university.

TRAINING – EXPERT CALLS One-hour calls will be scheduled on a monthly basis, between August and October 2017, with experts from within Shell as well as externally. These will take place on Thursdays at 5-6pm (GMT+8).

TRAINING – ADVISORS CALLS On a day-to-day basis, teams are to liaise with their national organisers. On top of that, each team can have up to three 30-min private consultation with the Competition advisors starting from six weeks before the national finals. Kindly provide proposed timeslots and notify the organiser at pptsg@shell.com if these sessions are not required.

25 AUGUST 2017 Teams that have successfully registered are to attend the one-day training session. At least five (5) members from each team are to attend this.

Deadline for online submission of the final presentation of the scenarios, together with a short description (with option of visuals) of the Display Exhibits at the finals for the Singapore Competition on 17 January 2018. Online submission will be via this link - www.shell.com.sg/imaginethefuture/submission.html. The limit per upload is 20MB.

The online submission can be a short written report of the proposed scenarios with supporting slides for presentation at the Finals and a written description of each of the additional materials you will display and present at the Finals.

Display exhibits should immerse the judges into the scenarios you have created and can include any of the following:  A film, an animation (with a maximum length of five minutes);  A skit;  C omputer-generated visuals, photographs, technical drawings, illustrations etc.; and/or  A physical model.

Teams are each given a budget of S$100 for the display exhibits for the national competition. These are to be claimed from the national organisers with valid receipts.

17 JANUARY 2018 AT 1300HRS Singapore Finals – Panel of judges shall select the winner of the Singapore Competition.

5 MARCH 2018 AT 1300HRS (TBC) Regional Finals – Panel of judges shall select the winner of the Regional Competition.

6 MARCH 2018 (TBC) Regional Finals Teams go on a one-day experience in Singapore as part of their national win.

7 MARCH 2018 (TBC) Regional Competition Winners rehearse for their Powering Progress Together presentation.

8 MARCH 2018 (TBC) Regional Finals Teams and representatives from the Singapore Competition attend the Powering Progress Together forum and Make the Future 2018.
