We have taken the favorite dishes of many of our members and put them on one menu, Royal Originals, available at the poolside grills and bars in all the resorts. Featuring everything from tasty burgers and sandwiches to nachos, tacos and super fresh ceviches, the catch of the day and fajitas, there is something for everyone in the family.

For the taste of the Caribbean under the stars don’t miss Lobster Night. It is a much-loved Monday evening tradition at The Royal Cancun and you can now try it in Cayo Largo at The Royal Islander on Sunday and on the terrace at Captain’s Cove on Friday, where a saxophone player will serenade you.
Cocktail time
Happy Hour at Royal Resorts is better than ever. Order your favorite tropical cocktail, and ice-cold beer or one of the bartender’s zesty Mexican creations with tequila and mezcal during daily Happy Hour at the pool or beach bars. Get two for one on regular size drinks, including international brands, from 3 to 6 p.m. Be sure to try the signature cocktails at Hacienda Sisal and Captain’s Cove during their Happy Hour from 6 to 8 p.m.
Kids stuff
Treasure hunts, balloon battles, pool games and craft workshops ranging from painting and bracelet making to pirate hats and piñatas, there’s endless fun in store for your little ones. The Kids Club teams at The Royal Cancun, The Royal Sands and The Royal Haciendas will keep them entertained all vacation with different games and activities every day.

Get ready for daily fun for all ages in the new Activity Center at The Royal Islander. Located in the former bus station between the resort and Royal Uno.

A familiar face returns
Many of our longtime members will remember Gerardo “Jerry” Flores, who has returned to Royal Resorts as Sales Director for Vacation Ownership and Grand Residences.
Gerardo Flores joined Royal Resorts in 1990 as a Concierge at Captain’s Cove and went on to become one of our top sales representatives.
During his time at Royal Resorts, Jerry has received awards from AMDETUR, the Mexican Association of Tourism Developers, as one of the top vacation ownership sales representatives in Mexico. He also won Interval International’s Sell Away competition for international sales teams seven years running.
Jerry is back at Royal Resorts after five years working at Starwood and Marriott.
Best of the best 2020
The Royal Cancun, The Royal Haciendas and Grand Residences all received the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best 2020 award and featured in the Travelers’ Choice Top 25 Hotels in Mexico for Family vacations.
The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best award is Tripadvisor’s highest recognition and is presented annually to those businesses that earn excellent reviews from travelers and are ranked in the top 1 percent of properties worldwide.
The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander, Captain’s Cove and Hacienda Sisal received the Travelers' Choice 2020 award. This accolade is given to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews and are ranked within the top 10 percent of properties on Tripadvisor.
Grand Residences also received a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2020 for El Faro Grill and its wine selection. This was the fourth year running that the restaurant has received this international accolade.

Muchos de nuestros antiguos socios recordarán a Gerardo “Jerry” Flores, quien ha regresado a Royal Resorts como Director de Ventas.
Gerardo Flores se unió a Royal Resorts en 1990 trabajando en Concierge para el club en Captain’s Cove y llegó a ser uno de los mejores representantes de ventas.
Durante sus años de trabajo en Royal Resorts, Jerry recibió un reconocimiento de AMDETUR, la Asociación Mexicana de Desarrolladores Turísticos, como uno de los mejores representantes de ventas de propiedad vacacional en México. También ganó la competencia Sell Away de Interval International para equipos de ventas internacionales durante siete años consecutivos.
Jerry está de regreso en Royal Resorts tras haber trabajado cinco años en Starwood y Marriott.

The Royal Sands, The Royal Islander, Captain’s Cove y Hacienda Sisal recibieron el premio Travelers' Choice 2020. Green NEWS
A new park for Cancun
A new green space for Cancun residents and visitors is gradually taking shape in Parque Cancun. The Royal Resorts Foundation is contributing the skills of two of the resort gardeners to help with the landscaping of this green lung.
Located between the mangroves of Nichupte Lagoon and Bonampak Avenue on the site of the old municipal landfill, Parque Cancun is a haven for birds such as Yucatan jays, parrots and pygmy owls and for coatimundis, armadillo, white-tailed deer and even peccary.
The first stage of the park – the master plan envisages five, including a Biodiversity Museum – is set to open in 2021.
Turtle season 2020
As 2019 was a busy year for turtles with lots of nests and hatchlings, we expected the 2020 season to be a slow one. However, nothing could have been further from the truth. Possibly due to less human activity as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, nesting turtles emerged from the sea in large numbers all along the Mexican Caribbean coast. At Royal Resorts we protected 815 nests and released 65,682 baby turtles. This brings the tally of nests protected and hatchlings released since 1998 to 9,951 and 925,371 respectively.
Un nuevo parque para Cancún
Un nuevo espacio verde para los residentes y visitantes de Cancún está tomando forma gradualmente en el Parque Cancún. La Fundación Royal Resorts está apoyando con dos jardineros para ayudar con el paisajismo de este pulmón verde.
Localizado entre los manglares de la Laguna Nichupté y la avenida Bonampak, en el sitio del antiguo relleno sanitario municipal. El Parque Cancún es un refugio para las aves como la chara yucateca, pericos y búhos pigmeos, así como para tejones, armadillos, venado cola blanca e, incluso, pecarí.
La primera etapa del parque – el plan maestro contempla cinco etapas, incluyendo un Museo de la Biodiversidad – está prevista para abrir en 2021.
Temporada de tortugas 2020
Ya que la temporada 2019 fue muy activa para las tortugas, con muchos nidos y nacimientos, esperábamos que la temporada 2020 fuera más lenta. Sin embargo, nada pudo estar más alejado de la realidad. Posiblemente debido a la escasa actividad humana como resultado de la pandemia por el COVID-19, las tortugas emergieron del mar para anidar en grandes cantidades a lo largo de toda la costa del Caribe mexicano.
En Royal Resorts hemos protegido 815 nidos y liberado 65,682 tortuguitas. Esto trae como resultado un total de 9,951 nidos protegidos y 925,371 tortuguitas liberadas desde 1998.
