4520. The Clash Concept Artwork for ‘(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais’.

Unique original handmade collage concept artwork designed by Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer as a potential sleeve for The Clash’s 1978 single by ‘(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais.’ Accomplished in mixed media on 7.75 x 7.75 sheet, the artwork consists of a cut-up glossy photograph of the group with the song title across the middle in a 3D effect and the band name at the bottom. Handsomely matted and framed to an overall size of 12.75 x 14.5. In fine condition. Accompanied by a copy of an email from artist Caroline Coon, in full: “If I remember correctly, the original collage artwork for the ‘White Man in Hammersmith Palais’ single was designed and made by Paul Simonon with Joe Strummer and brought to me for discussion in by Ladbroke Grove studio.” Starting Bid $300

25 x 38 in-store promotional poster for the Warner Bros. United States release of the Sex Pistols’ classic 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks. The collage-style poster designed by Jamie Reid features imagery representing the various tracks on the album. Folded as issued and in fine condition, with no stains, pinholes, or other typical mounting blemishes. Starting Bid $200

4522. Sex Pistols 1977 ‘God Save The Queen’ Glitterbest Press

Kit. Original promotional press kit for the Sex Pistols, 12 pages, 8.25 x 12, produced in 1977 by Malcolm McLaren’s Glitterbest in conjunction with the band’s release of ‘God Save The Queen.’ It contains various news articles which cover the history of the group, including reprints of a Melody Maker article detailing the chaos around the band, their signing to EMI, the Bill Grundy affair, being dropped by EMI, insulting the Queen with their new song, their signing and dropping from A&M, their Virgin signing, and their upcoming single. It was designed by Jamie Reid and Glitterbest’s Sophie Richmond and printed by Reid’s Suburban Press. Includes two cardstock 10 x 8 Walkerprint promo photos of the band. In fine condition. Script for Who Killed Bambi?, the unfinished Sex Pistols film by Russ Meyer and Roger Ebert

4523. Sex Pistols Original Draft Script for

‘Who Killed Bambi?’ Original seventh draft script for the unfinished Matrixbest Production film Who Killed Bambi?, which was intended to be the Sex Pistols’ introduction to the American market. The script, 8.5 x 11.25, 145 pages, dated October 8, 1977, is marked “21” on the title page, with the credits page listing the director as Russ Meyer, the producer as Malcolm McLaren, and Roger Ebert as the screenwriter. Housed in its original green wrappers. In very good condition, with water staining affecting the covers, fore edges, and all interior pages to some degree.

Who Killed Bambi? was cancelled just after a day and a half of shooting, with camps from either side blaming the other: Meyer declared that Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren ‘made false promises of financing and was broke,’ and McLaren in turn stated the the film’s studio, 20th Century Fox, withdrew support after reading the screenplay written by Roger Ebert.
