151. King Edward VIII Document Signed.

Partly-printed DS signed “Edward R. I.,” one page, 14 x 12, February 1, 1936. King Edward VIII appoints Gerald Wentworth Loscombe Abingdon Bayly as “a Sub-Lieutenant in His Majesty’s Fleet.” Nearly signed at the head by King Edward VIII and countersigned at the conclusion by Royal Navy officers Martin Dunbar-Nasmith and Percy Noble. In fine to very fine condition. Given his brief reign—Edward VIII ruled only from January 20, 1936 until his abdication in December—documents signed in his capacity as King of the United Kingdom are scarce and highly desirable.
