Letter Signed. Inventor of photographic equipment (1862–1954) who, with his brother Louis, patented the cinematograph and produced the first-ever motion picture in 1894. ALS in French, one page both sides, 5.25 x 8.25, personal letterhead, July 18, 1934. Handwritten letter of recommendation, in part: “Dr. Djourdjitch who was for several years the collaborator of Dr. Boissel and who only ceased this collaboration following the closure of the sanatorium for which he was responsible. This young doctor has made a request to be accepted in your Mutualiste Hospital in St. Etienne and I allow myself to support his request.” In fine condition. Starting Bid $200
181. Robert Koch Autograph Letter Signed. German medical scientist (1843–1910) regarded as the father of bacteriology. He isolated the tuberculosis bacillus and the anthrax virus, and received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1905. Untranslated ALS in German, signed “R. Koch,” one page, 4.5 x 7, no date. A brief handwritten letter from the eminent physician and microbiologist. A note in another hand to the lower portion is dated to November 16, 1891.
