EU Funding of € 300,000 for SMEs in 3D Printing Market This aid aims to carry out "application experiments" to develop an innovative idea of functional products that need Additive Manufacturing (AM). According to a report adopted by the European Parliament, "3D Printing is a key technology for the future of the EU as long as it has a great potential for creating jobs whilst helping to fight transport costs, CO2 emissions, or built-in obsolescence." The AMable call (open to SMEs from the European Union) will allocate around 300,000 Euros, facilitating the establishment of new connections between different clusters to leverage the competitiveness of the SME manufacturing fabric. This aid aims to carry out "application experiments" to develop an innovative idea of functional products that need Additive Manufacturing (AM). In particular, the types of experiments that will be financed are "Feasibility Studies" and "Good Practices", ranging the aid from 5,000 to 60,000 euros. The call will be open until June 1, 2019, at 5:00 PM Brussels time. Besides this financial support, the EU innovation action, AMable, will put in place a series of side benefits to improve skills of employees in the areas of AM design, technology development, education, and support business development. This action is also supported by the EC initiative, I4MS, as part of the mission to encourage the implementation of ICT technologies in Europe to enhance the competitiveness of the EU industry in the global scenario. AMable aims to reinforce the Additive Manufacturing technological cluster by creating a digital framework to provide unbiased access to the best European knowledge in 3D printing for the industry 4.0 and EU institutions endorse it. The European Commission and the European Parliament already underlined that 3D printing could ease the strain on their logistical chains, reduce storage and transport operations, lessen

Digital Marketing Simplified – Follow the Buyer A large part of your marketing efforts should be geared toward web-based communications because web has emerged as the primary channel for digital marketing. By Rakesh Raman Digital is okay; you can’t ignore it. But don’t feel challenged if I tell you that more than digital marketing, it’s about common-sense marketing. Your digital communications will work if your marketing plan is in place. A common marketing principle suggests that you have to follow your buyer with all your brand messages. If your buyers are moving on your left, it will be foolish to keep calling them on your right. It’s that simple. Now incidentally your buyers are strolling in the cyberspace. They’re connected with digital lines – including Internet and mobile – around the clock. That means, they’re spending a lot of their time either on the web or on their mobile phones or tablet devices. This is a totally new phenomenon that most old-fashioned marketers fail to understand. In the late 1990s and even early 2000s, consumers were distributing their time evenly between

traditional media (like TV, newspapers, etc.) and digital media (web and mobile) for getting all sorts of information. However, as digital media started gaining popularity because of its ubiquitous and instant attributes, the consumer eyeballs have been shifting from traditional to digital media which is also called new media. This is a universal truth and you don’t need any research data to prove this fact. It’s, however, estimated that Gen Y consumers who used to spend just 30 minutes a day on web and mobile in the late 1990s are now on average spending more than 3 hours daily on digital media. When the number of hours in a day are fixed at 24, obviously digital media has grabbed the share of time that people used to spend on newspapers, magazines, TV, etc. Plus, the figures also support this fact. Today, in a world population of over 7 billion, there are over 3 billion Internet users and more than 6 billion mobile devices in use; some users own more than one device. The number of mobile phone users in the world is expected to cross the 5 billion mark in 2019. All these billions of users are the potential consumers of different products and services. Can marketers afford to ignore them? Answer: No. While consumers are moving away from traditional media and going toward digital channels, your marketing budgets should also go toward digital. Do you agree? You should. And when we say digital, today it’s mainly the web. In the current phase of digital evolution, a convergence is taking place between web and mobile media, as most users are using their mobile devices for accessing content websites, social networking websites, e-commerce websites, and product websites of different companies.

As a result, the entire digital ecosystem is being driven by the web. Therefore, to help brands transform their websites, a new responsive web design (RWD) has emerged that allows users to access websites seamlessly on their mobile devices. Most forward-looking companies have already moved to RWD platforms to provide a convenient interactive experience to mobile users from their websites. A new research suggests that an average user checks their smartphone 34 times a day and 51% of consumers are more likely to buy from a mobile-optimized website. Obviously, a large part of your marketing efforts should
be
geared
toward
web-based
communications because web has emerged as the primary channel for digital marketing. And mobile devices are largely being used to access the web. Therefore, if your product or service website is created with a cutting-edge architecture and you’ve engaging content on your website, it can deliver more fruitful results than your entire traditional marketing department can achieve. So, the first step will be to revamp your website so that it looks like a Digital Age modern site rather than a Stone Age ruin. Once your website is in order – replete it with professionally created content that is free from syntax and semantics flaws – you should inform your potential buyers about this development. Remember, your site is one of the billion other sites on the web. It may have the best of content and best of design, but buyers will never know about it unless you tell them proactively. How would you do that?

You can use valid search engine optimization (SEO) techniques to bring your site in search results. But this is not very easy. You can use social media sites to inform consumers about the brand content on your site. This is again not very easy. Then you can use the email approach to send email messages to your potential buyers. This is relatively easier than using social media or SEO. But there is a proper way to do that. Or you can use ethical mobile messaging to get in touch with your buyers prompting them to visit your site on the web or on their mobile devices. A simple way would be to use the ‘signature’ feature with your email. Your website address will be automatically added to every email that you send. Thus, there are many ways to inform your buyers about your website. But for heaven’s sake never use a crude method to interact with your buyers. If your marketing communications content is not proper, it can harm your company more than it can help it. With this information, you can take a few right steps in the digital universe. Will you?

Tech company Intel and Google Cloud have announced a strategic partnership aimed at helping enterprise customers seamlessly deploy applications across on-premise and cloud environments. The two companies will collaborate on Anthos, a new reference design based on the 2nd-Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor and an optimized Kubernetes software stack that will deliver increased workload portability to customers who want to take advantage of hybrid cloud environments. For Your Information In the digital media universe where brands can woo the buyers with more engaging video content such as short films and infomercials, the typical 30-second ad spots have lost their relevance. These traditional TVCs are mostly confusing and end before you blink. Obviously, they fail to deliver the right brand message in the market. Marketers and ad agencies need to evolve with the evolving market paradigm.
How to Learn Business Communications for Corporate Growth There is an urgent need for corporates to adopt modern forms of business communications (e-mails, presentations, analytical reports, etc.) systematically. In today’s information-driven world, the need for formal business communications is more pronounced because businesses of all sizes are supposed to address different stakeholders in diversified geographical locations.

Most businesses think that phone-based or physical presence-based communications are working for them. However, these traditional forms of business communications are among the main factors of inefficiencies in business operations because they are usually off-the-cuff without analyzing
the
situational
business
challenges. Moreover, as the traditional, old-fashioned communications are mostly ad hoc in nature, it’s difficult to keep track of the decisions thus taken in a business environment. As a result, there are activity overlaps, repetitions of work, loss of accountability, which silently add to the operating expenses (OPEX) of the company. Obviously, it doesn’t allow the company to be competitive in the marketplace. Hence, there is an urgent need for corporates to adopt modern forms of business communications (e-mails, presentations, analytical reports, etc.) systematically. To help businesses adopt formal business communications as an inevitable process for corporate growth, RMN Company offers its Business Communications training program for companies around the world. The program is conducted by Rakesh Raman, CEO of RMN Company. The training program covers evolution in the business communications landscape, the role of digital communication channels (Internet and web), language / communication rules, and hands-on training for the participants. Interested companies and corporate executives can contact us to know the details including costs for this program.

Environmental Damage and Pollution in India Appeal to Global Community A new IQAir AirVisual report, which covered 3,000 cities of the world, has revealed that Gurugram (a.k.a. Gurgaon) a suburb of India’s capital New Delhi is the most polluted city of the world while 22 of the top 30 polluted cities are in India. Also, Delhi remains the most polluted capital across the world. As pollution levels remain dangerously high throughout the year in India, all travelers including business executives, tourists, and diplomats need to exercise utmost caution while planning to visit India – particularly India’s capital New Delhi. Moreover, companies and investors must not come to Delhi for setting up their businesses or for trade conferences as pollution can harm them as well as their families. Foreigners who have come to stay in India for their work, should preferably go back to their countries. Or, at least, they should not keep their children with them because Delhi’s pollution is very harmful for children. Delhi Government, the Indian Government, and the pollution-control agencies are not taking proper steps to control pollution because most politicians and bureaucrats in India are corrupt, uneducated, and careless. The extreme pollution in Delhi is being compared to the poisonous gas chambers used by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust for the genocide of millions of European Jews. As pollution in Delhi / India is harmful to millions of Indians as well as people in other parts of the world with its impact on global warming and climate change, its lethal effect is equivalent to weapons of mass destruction. The Indian government - including bureaucrats and politicians - is causing serious environmental damage which is harmful for the entire planet. Therefore, the global community including the UN and the U.S. Department of State and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) must impose strict economic, diplomatic, and trade sanctions on India and Indian officials. Are You Ready to Use Technology? Technology vendors just want to make a fast buck by selling their usual stuff under the garb of SMB offerings. In today’s modern and always-on business environment, the use of technology is inevitable for the growth of any business. But most government and political bosses are clueless about the technology implementation processes. Governments, therefore, have only set up huge, monolithic organizations to help SMBs, but they fail to meet their objectives as they lack knowledge on tech trends. Technology vendors, on the other hand, just want to make a fast buck by selling their usual stuff under the garb of SMB offerings. They also lack resources to reach out to small user companies in smaller cities and towns. But at the same time, they want to gain business volumes by hook or by crook. Therefore, SMBs are not quite willing to use technology.

How to Manage E-waste to Protect the Environment ITU is carrying out an electronic waste management project, and recently launched a new partnership to help improve global e-waste statistics. The ICT (information and communications technology) sector has an environmental impact, including through the generation of e-waste. E-waste, which refers to used, broken, or obsolete electrical and electronic equipment, such as phones, laptops, sensors, and TVs, can contain hazardous substances that may pose considerable environmental and health risks, especially if treated inadequately. As technologies change at great speed, and as access to and use of electrical and electronic equipment increases, product lifecycles become shorter and many designs do not support repair or reuse. As a result, the amount of e-waste is growing rapidly throughout the world. As the UN specialized agency for technology, ITU helps Member States to take advantage of the opportunities of ICTs to address the challenges linked to climate change, and to address the issue of e-waste. This includes the identification of guidelines, awareness raising and capacity building activities, the implementation of projects, and direct assistance to Member States. ITU's Development Bureau (ITU-D) has been given a mandate to "assist developing countries in undertaking proper assessment of the size of e-waste and in initiating pilot projects to achieve environmentally sound management of e-waste through e-waste collection, dismantling, refurbishing, and recycling."
