Corner Gallery Exhibition @ 356 E 3rd Street Join the ArtExchange in showcasing over 40 local Long Beach artists displaying over 250 pieces of paintings, illustrations, sculptures, street art works, and more! In the spirit of the French style salon we are filling the gallery from floor to ceiling. We even built rolling gallery walls to fit all the work! Classroom @ 352 E 3rd Street Free Family Art Activity: This month’s activity focuses on the concept of “radial symmetry” with the making of circular mandalas. Start by drawing circles with the “madalator” and fill in the symmetrical design with colorful rubber stamps. This is an engaging art activity that allows all ages to create successful piece of artwork to take home with you.

Andrea Padrie @ 352 E. 3rd Street During this Second Saturday Event come out and meet the latest artist to utilize the Art Exchanges Studio Pass Program. Andrea Patrie will be working in the large classroom space in the main building creating mono print designs. Come out and experiment with different colors and textures and surface types. Monoprints are known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques; it is essentially a printed painting. The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike. The beauty of this medium is also in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking, painting and drawing media.

Action Quilting Revolution Textiles: Sewing with the People and a Stitch in Time, are two activist quilts Frau Fiber produced with communities in Chicago, IL and Greensboro NC. These quilts along with object and photographic archives will be on exhibit this month. During the opening on Second Saturday and 3rd Thursday, Frau Fiber will be quilting a commemorative quilt from textiles collected in 2007, for the restoration of New Orleans post Katrina.

Visitors are privy to art and ideas in process as well as finished pieces. Darrow has a unique ability to intersect the real with the abstract with pieces that showcase a phenomenal eye for color. Her wide range of work: paintings, woodwork, drawing, and installation makes for an inviting and interesting gallery walk that provides a creative, eclectic and educational environment in which to explore. In the window is Darrow’s vintage inspired front window installation “Vintage Circus,” Featuring lowbrow style of the “Tattoo Lady” and “Vintage Apothecary” Visitors can enjoy and amuse in the installation, or find interest in Darrow’s recreation of an 1800’s traveling apothecary case. Also exhibited are the detailed and delicate flora and fauna color pencil designs and Botanical paintings and animal themed pieces that are slowly transforming the studio into a menagerie with a turn of the century vintage flavor.

Margie Darrow Studio cont‌ New this month on display is a selection of collaborative artwork by the disbanded Fallopian Artopians. The Fallopian Artopians were a Live Collaborative Female Painting Troupe (Yvonne Sanders, Justine Serebrin and Margie Darrow). All paintings are rendered by rotating the canvas between the three artist on timed 30 minute intervals. Ending the painting process when the paintings were complete or a 2 1/2 hour performance was complete.



Dixon invites you to her studio-gallery for the Second Saturday Artwalk as we kick off 2014! Many new projects are in the works, including an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to keep the art flowin! Also on display for Open Studio Night will be a selection of paintings by Turkish artist Elif Bridges. Elif's inspiration originates in the artistically and culturally rich environment of her home in Ankara, where she was employed as an animator and produced her own cartoons for Turkish television.
