STAR Erasmus Consulting Always wanted to know what it is like to work in the world of consultancy? Become part of the next STAR Erasmus Consulting (SEC) board and gain consultancy experience while developing yourself both personally and professionally. A fulltime board year at SEC offers the exceptional opportunity to get a taste of the professional consultancy world, to develop your personal and professional skills, and to work together with an international and diverse team of motivated student consultants. The SEC board is one of the three fulltime committees of study association RSM STAR. SEC offers companies and non-profit organizations tailormade research and consultancy services. These services are provided in a country and industry of the companies choice. As part of the SEC board, you will supervise a unique project abroad, manage people, and display leadership. During your

board year, you will learn about your strengths and weaknesses will receive professional trainings to learn how to exploit these your strenghts within an international team. SEC offers you the opportunity to work for different companies abroad, be in contact with professional consultancy firms, and expand your professional and personal network.

Compensation & Selection Selection process After filling out the application form online, you will be invited for your first interview. The first interview is meant to get to know each other better, talk about SEC in general, and to provide more information about the specific functions and to manage expectations. After this interview, you may be

selected for a second interview. For the second interview, we will ask you to prepare cases for specific functions after which you will explain your choices and answers in your second interview. After the second interview, you will be informed whether you are selected to be on the board or not.

Financial compensation The SEC board starts full-time in July/ August. You will still have some time to go on a holiday, but this should be coordinated together with your board and the supervisor of the STAR Board. Because being on the SEC bard is a full-time job, you will not be able to spend much time on side

The social side of STAR Once you are an Active Member, your social network will start to expand immediately. You will have dinner with your board on Wednesdays and go to our favourite bar for the weekly drinks afterwards. We also organise sensational theme nights, the Christmas Gala, the Active Members Days, the Active Members Weekends, and so much more. As a member of the SEC board, you will even get your own spot at the STAR office in Mandeville and you will be in close contact with the STAR Board to share your creative ideas with them. This year, the COVID-19 measurers are considered for all above mentioned activities. Some examples of our COVID-19 proof alternatives are the weekly zoom parties and Active Member activities organized by some committees within STAR.

Chairman As the chairman of the SEC board, you will be the leader, motivator, supporter, and coordinator of the board. Among other responsibilities, you will be responsible for keeping an overview of everyone’s tasks and responsibilities. Your main priority is to support and encourage your fellow board members and student consultants on both work and personal aspects. Besides this, you represent SEC towards all stakeholders and search for strategic opportunities. You will drive innovation to make sure SEC stays relevant in the future. Are you ready to lead SEC?

What will be your responsibilities? •

Monitor the overall process and set deadlines and targets for each function and the SEC as a whole Support, motivate, and encourage your team on a functional and personal level Lead effective meetings to get to the best possible ideas and solutions Be the representative of the SEC to both internal and external stakeholders

Treasurer As the treasurer of the SEC, you will be responsible for the overall financial health and continuity of the SEC. Your main responsibility is to create and maintain the budgets. You will have to create a budget for each propsed destination and take into consideration all possible cost. Besides this, you will be responsible for managing all the contracts associated with the projects. You need to be organized and disciplined, and you need to keep an objective view on expenses, revenues, and their impact. Are you ready to maintain the SEC’s financial health?

What will be your responsibilities? • Creating budgets for multiple projects and safeguarding them • Guiding your team in decision making in the field of treasury • Doing the bookkeeping and getting experienced with Exact • Finding a balance between being critical (saying “no”) and keeping an open mind to your team’s creative ideas

Commercial Relations Manager As the Commercial Relations Manager, you are responsible for maintaining existing relationships with companies as well as finding new leads. You will be in charge of the acquisition phase, in which you and you fellow board members will call various companies to acquire the projects. The companies are active in almost every sector, so you can vastly broaden your knowledge. You will get the chance to get in contact with high level managers and CEO’s and visit numerous companies. You will guide your fellow board members through the process, by writing the script and managing all leads in Salesforce. You are also in charge of the corporate marketing, meaning you have to create awareness among firms and be responsible for maintaining the brand and improve it in innovative ways.

Marketing Manager As the Marketing Manager, you are responsible for creating awareness of SEC among students. You want to convince them to become a consultant or to join the next SEC board. Throughout the year, you will have to manage the brand and improve it using innovative new ways. You will get a lot of freedom in doing so and will use more than just social media. You will get used to working with Adobe Creative Cloud and will learn how to use social media in a professional way. You will also formulate a strategy on how to best reach your target group. Are you ready to get creative whilst working on a professional project?

Research Manager During the different phases of the project, you will be the one who takes the lead in doing the research. From the point of acquisition up to desk & field research, you will be responsible for the content that is delivered. This allows you to set the course of the project. You will also be in contact with various professional consultants who will provide you feedback. In addition to conducting research, you will be the HR Manager of the SEC board. The HR manager focusses on the personal development of all board members and consultants. As the HR manager, you are also responsible for the recruitment of the new consultants.

Conduct professional and relevant research for companies during various phases Stay in touch with professional consultants Be responsible for the recruitment of the new consultants Coordinate, motivate, and guide all consultants and other board members in their personal and professional development

STAR Academy What’s in it for you? The STAR Academy is the learning center within STAR that offers members the opportunity to develop their personal and professional skills. As a full-time member of STAR, you will have the maximum opportunity to develop yourself! Every member of the SEC Board follows a personalized track which starts with filling in your own Personal Development Plan. This plan forces you to be concious about your ambitions regarding personal learning goals. Based on these goals, STAR will make sure you receive suitable trainings. These trainings can be categorized in hard skill trainings (acquisition training and InDesign training) and the soft side of development (leadership training and team building). Besides that, you, as a full-time committee member, will receive three sessions of management training at a renowned management training company. During the year there will also be plenty of feedback and learning goals meetings to ensure you develop yourself personally and professionally to a maximum extent. Lastly, you will get your own buddy, a full-time alumni having plenty experience, to give you feedback and support with your personal development on a regular basis.
