Did you know about Troupe in a Trunk

Troupe in a Trunk is an outreach program that inspires students’ imaginations by bringing live performances to Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte County pre-K and elementary schools. Every spring Troupe in a Trunk brings their show to an average of 6,500 area students, inspiring their imaginations. If you are interested in bringing a Troupe performance to your school, contact Kelly Duyn, Assistant Director of Education and Outreach at 941-486-8679 or KellyDuyn@VeniceTheatre.net.

Epiphany Cathedral School Partnership Students at Epiphany Cathedral School (ECS) have a unique opportunity to participate in a theatre arts program in partnership with Venice Theatre. The multidisciplinary program is designed for students of all ability levels who would like to experience the theatre arts. It offers ECS students the chance to learn about how a theatre works and exposes them to everything from lighting and sound to acting and dance. The student experience culminates in a fully mounted performance on VT’s MainStage.

Youth Production Company Venice Theatre’s Youth Production Company (YPC) is a student driven program. The purpose of the YPC is to provide an environment for students to create theatre on their own terms. They are responsible for all aspects of the project. This allows members of YPC to develop portfolio material for college applications while cultivating 21st century workplace skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration and problem solving. YPC members work with Venice Theatre staff and mentors to work out logistics of producing a show for the Venice Community.

VT’s Outreach Programs? The Silver Foxes The Silver Foxes are a professionally-directed volunteer troupe who have been entertaining us for 25 years. These young-at-heart retirees act, sing and dance! Their reputation has spread far and wide with audience and booking demands growing every season. They travel throughout the area from November to April performing at a variety of venues. In March, they bring a full-scale production to our MainStage.

Loveland Collaboration

Loveland Center and Venice Theatre have been proud partners for 22 years! The collaboration between our two non-profit organizations gives students with intellectual/developmental disabilities the opportunity to learn life skills through theatre study. Participants meet at the theatre twice weekly throughout the season for classes and rehearsals which culminate in a fullscale production on Venice Theatre’s MainStage. Becky Holahan, the director, proudly states every year, “It is the best show in town!”

Boys & Girls Club Partnership THEATRE MATTERS! is a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County and Venice Theatre. The THEATREMATTERS! program is designed to develop each student’s individual talents and skills, as well as teach them to work together as a team, increase their problem-solving skills, and improve their presentation and communication skills. Participants learn about performing, and are exposed to the technical aspects of theatre such as lighting, sets, sound, and costumes. Members from the Robert and Joan Lee Boys & Girls Club between ages 8-14 participate.
