Whether you’ve never written a play or you’re an experienced writer, please join visiting artist, professor, and working playwright, Richard Krevolin, for an afternoon intensive in playwriting. Through a series of examples and exercises, you will not only explore playwriting, but get a taste of what it takes to be a professional in the field. Richard’s plays and movie scripts have been produced around the world. Additionally, he is a director and master instructor of the Dramatic Arts. AUDITIONS FOR BREAKFAST 4 DINNER Teen Improv Troupe, Grades 9-12 Monday, Jan. 21 from 4 - 6:00 p.m. DIRECTOR: LUKE MCFATRICH VT is auditioning for it’s popular Teen Improv Troupe. Cast members that were in the troupe last fall will need to audition again. The Troupe will meet once a week for 7 weeks to explore popular improv games, techniques, and concepts in a fun, fast-paced environment. Cast members need to be able to attend all rehearsals, the technical rehearsal and performance. Rehearsals begin Jan. 28 on Fridays from 4 - 6:00 p.m. and run through the March 27th performance. Technical rehearsal is the morning of March 26th. Troupe rehearsals will culminate in a ticketed performance on our Pinkerton stage March 27, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

ADVANCED EDUCATION SUMMERSTOCK Directed by Brad Wages, VT SummerStock is a challenging training ground for young actors pursuing careers in theatre. The program began in 2007 with an energetic production of Footloose! SummerStock productions have included sophisticated and challenging musicals such as Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods and Broadway classics like Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun and West Side Story; biblicallythemed musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Godspell; historically important masterpieces like Cabaret; and more.
TECHNICAL THEATRE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (TTAP) Creating technical theatre professionals
Venice Theatre’s Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) provides a unique opportunity for technical theatre training for students who are 16 years and older. TTAP is a career-track training program accredited by the Florida Department of Education that gives hands-on experience in all technical theatre disciplines, from lighting and sound to stage management and rigging. Students work one-on-one with professionals in their area of expertise. Upon graduation apprentices earn FLDOE journeyman certification. Kelly was born and raised in Venice. She has a B.A. in Theatre from The University of Central Florida and began her teaching career right here at Venice Theatre. She started at VT as a student, then actor, intern, and assistant teacher. An award-winning actor, director and choreographer, Brad’s work has been seen across the U. S. and Canada. With a B.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma, he served as assistant director to Broadway directors Fran Soeder and Joe Layton, and was in a number of national theatre tours and commercials.
