Letter from the President Welcome to a new season of exciting RSU Hillcat Baseball!

As many of you know, our athletic programs, although just a few years in existence, have experienced tremendous success. The RSU baseball and softball teams performed quite well during the 2010 season, and the attendance and enthusiasm of fans was tremendous.

Since becoming president of this great institution, I have been as impressed by the sportsmanship of our student-athletes as I have the quality of our athletic programs. I also have been impressed by the academic achievements of our student-athletes, who have experienced success in the classroom as well as on the playing field.

We are excited about this season of RSU Baseball! Go Hillcats! Dr. Larry Rice

The university is pleased to be part of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) - two organizations that place a high priority on promoting healthy values, developing strong character traits, and encouraging academic achievement among all student-athletes. These are values that we share at RSU and impress upon our studentathletes every day.

About RSU Rogers State University: A Great Oklahoma Higher Education Success Story Rogers State University holds a historic position in the annals of Oklahoma higher education. Since RSU was accredited as a four-year university in 2000, enrollment has increased by more than 75 percent, earning RSU the title of one of Oklahoma's fastestgrowing universities. RSU is a dynamic, progressive university with more than 4,400 students, widely recognized for its high-quality academic programs, distance learning options, and hightechnology learning environment. RSU is the only public four-year, residential university in the Tulsa metropolitan area.

u RSU is the only public four-year, residential university in the Tulsa metropolitan area.

RSU offers a wide variety of bachelor's and associate degrees. Innovative new bachelor's degrees include applied technology, environmental conservation, military history, sport management, and game development. Many students from northeast Oklahoma who plan to attend medical school complete their undergraduate studies through RSU's program in medical/molecular biology. And RSU enjoys a statewide reputation for academic excellence in its nursing program.

Distinguished Academic Achievements RSU received continued accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools without further required evaluation for 10 years - a rarity in higher education in Oklahoma and a major accomplishment achieved by few universities. This is truly a testament to the high academic quality of RSU.

u The RSU nursing program enjoys a statewide reputation for quality.

RSU participates in The Washington Center Internship Program, a nationally recognized program placing students with private, public, and nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C. Students participating in the semesterlong internship earn college credit while they gain "real world" experience within their field of interest and interact with influential leaders and policymakers. RSU is one of only three universities in Oklahoma to participate in this prestigious program. Most RSU faculty members hold doctoral degrees or the highest degrees available in their fields from esteemed institutions across the nation, including Princeton University, Duke University, and the University of Oklahoma.

u The President's Leadership Class (PLC), a four-year scholarship program designed to foster personal and professional development, was designed for RSU students who have demonstrated leadership abilities.

2

About RSU The university also boasts an Honors Program, which provides an atmosphere where scholars can challenge themselves academically to maximize their college experience through specialized courses, student/faculty joint research projects, and a strong emphasis on service learning in the community. In addition, the President's Leadership Class (PLC), a four-year scholarship program that fosters personal and professional development, was designed for RSU students who have demonstrated leadership abilities. RSU also offers study abroad programs in Italy, South Korea, and Wales through the University's Studies-atLarge Program. The international study programs provide students with opportunities to see the world, learn about other cultures, and enrich their educational experience.

Growth in Learning Facilities The Centennial Center, which opened in 2009, has become the centerpiece of the main campus in Claremore. This two-level, 50,000-square-foot facility combines student development programs under one roof, serves as a central location for students to study and socialize, and provides a focal point for the RSU campus in Claremore. The facility also offers ballrooms, conference centers, and meeting rooms for the community. A major expansion and renovation of Baird Hall on the Claremore campus was completed in 2010. The new Baird Hall has doubled in size and contains many of the leading-edge features associated with higher learning today, including classrooms equipped with Smart Boards, a performance studio, an art gallery, and an outdoor classroom for learning outdoors on sunny days.

u The state-of-the-art Stratton Taylor Library features large study areas, a coffee bar, and wireless Internet throughout the facility.

The University broke ground in August on a new student apartment community that will double the number of students living on the main campus in Claremore in the fall of 2011. The $11.5 million project will accommodate up to 255 students in a three-level facility, located across the street from the present university apartments. The new 92,991-square-foot complex is located just west of Soldier Field, with a main entrance on Colonel Horne Drive. The state-of-the-art Stratton Taylor Library opened in 2004. The library features distinguished collections, wireless Internet, study areas, reading rooms, computer stations, classrooms, and a coffee bar. u The Centennial Center features a cafĂŠ, bookstore, 24-hour computer lab, student lounge, and recreation area for students. The 50,000-square-foot facility also contains meeting rooms and a ballroom for the community.

About RSU

u In 2000, Rogers State University was granted accreditation at the baccalaurete level.

A Brief History of RSU RSU was founded in 1909 as Eastern University Preparatory School in Claremore. The school prepared the daughters and sons of area residents to attend college. Historic Preparatory Hall, known for its iconic gold dome, was the first building on the school's campus. However, the school closed only a few years after it opened. Taking its place was the storied Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA), which operated on the Hill from 1919 to 1971. Known as the “West Point of the Southwest, OMA has an extensive register of graduates who became great leaders, both in military and civilian life. More than 2,500 OMA graduates served in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. More than 100 graduates gave their lives in service to their country.

u RSU is one of Oklahoma's fastest-growing universities.

In 1971, OMA closed and Claremore Junior College opened on the Hill, serving more than 400 students. The junior college grew rapidly in the 1970s, and by the time it was renamed Rogers State College in 1982, the institution boasted a variety of associate degree programs, distance learning capabilities, a new radio and television station, and intercollegiate athletics. In 1999, the Oklahoma Legislature renamed the institution Rogers State University and charged it with seeking accreditation as a four-year university. Accreditation at the baccalaurete level was granted in 2000. Today, RSU is one of Oklahoma's fastest-growing universities, offering a wide variety of bachelor's degree programs to more than 4,400 students on campuses in Claremore, Bartlesville, and Pryor.

Hillcat LIFE Programs

u The core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship are addressed in the Champions of Character program.

Academic Development The Rogers State University Student-Athlete Academic Development (SAAD) program is designed to support Hillcat athletes as they strive for success in the classroom and reach their educational and career goals. The program provides academic support such as advisement, subject tutors, and learning groups for each RSU student-athlete. Study sessions are designed specifically for each athletic program, and student-athletes are given the opportunity to work with tutors trained in their particular area of academic study. The goal of the SAAD program is to help all athletes grow into responsible adults as they become upperclassmen and take initiative to be personally responsible for their education and their future. The Student-Athlete Academic Development program, led by Dr. Brian Andrew, is there every step of the way for all athletes, to ensure they are pursuing a degree that will support their personal goals and prepare them for life after college.

Hillcat LIFE Programs The Hillcat LIFE programs are designed to promote student-athletes’ success off the field or court. Each year, RSU introduces a variety of programs to enrich the college experience of its student-athletes, helping them avoid potential pitfalls and giving them information useful when making important life decisions. The following are some examples of Hillcat LIFE programs: Etiquette training: Student-athletes are instructed on proper dining habits, dating manners, and courtesies. Each athlete is given a demonstration on the proper etiquette at formal meals. Drug and Alcohol Counseling: Student-athletes are made aware of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. They are given examples of athletes with promising futures who failed to reach their potential due to drug/alcohol abuse. “It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time…” Seminar: This presentation attempts to enlighten student-athletes about the existing legal realities associated with various acts they likely deem benign and provokes introspection that will lead to more careful decisionmaking. Nutrition Counseling: A nutritionist meets with student-athletes to discuss healthy meal choices and life styles. Athletes are given an overview of different types of foods and how they affect the human body.

5

Hillcat LIFE Programs Dangers of Gambling: Student-athletes are warned about the dangers of gambling addictions and also are warned against gambling on collegiate athletics, which is a violation of NAIA and NCAA rules. RSU athletics continues to expand its programs in order to provide a well-rounded education for all Hillcat athletes.

Champions of Character

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character program is designed to instill an understanding of character values in sport, and provide practical tools for student-athletes, coaches and parents to use in modeling exemplary character traits. Launched by the NAIA in 2000, the Champions of Character program addresses character issues more comprehensively than any other national program for youth. The program currently reaches hundreds of thousands of students on nearly 300 college and university campuses in North America and extends into their surrounding communities. The NAIA has been informally teaching character development through athletics for decades. The core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship are addressed comprehensively in the Champions of Character program. The NAIA Champions of Character program is an educational outreach initiative that emphasizes the tenets of character and integrity, not only for NAIA college students, but for younger students, coaches, and parents in our communities. Coaches, parents, administrators, and community partners all have a role in developing students of character. The NAIA Champions of Character program brings them training, guidelines, and behavior models to create positive environments that promote personal growth and fun sport activity.

2011 Baseball Season Outlook In its sixth year of existence with a strong nucleus of returners and an impressive group of newcomers, the Rogers State baseball team looks to meet high expectations in 2011.

“With the veterans coming back and the recruiting class we have brought in, we feel like this is the strongest club that we have ever had,” Bradley said. “On paper we are even stronger than we were last year and we need to be in order to compete in the top tier of our conference.“

“For the most part, we are going to have our entire lineup coming back,” RSU Head Coach Ron Bradley said. “We are coming off a successful season and I feel like the experienced returners know what to expect in our conference which will be an asset for this group.”

RETURNERS Coach Ron Bradley returns a strong group of veteran pitchers, who have worked productive innings on the mound for the Hillcats. “We have returned most of our pitching staff and they will play a key role in our success,” Bradley said. “We probably have more depth than most pitching staffs and were fortunate enough to get several quality arms.”

The Hillcats return 21 players from the 2010 squad, 15 who saw significant action. RSU notched its second 30win season in program history last spring. The Diamond Cats finished the regular season in sixth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings as they secured the final spot in the conference tournament.

Senior Grant Cosby will anchor the Hillcats on the mound. The senior led the team in strikeouts with 59 and tied for the most wins with eight in 2010. He represented the Diamond Cats on the all-conference first team after posting an 8-3 record. “Cosby being able to get a medical redshirt was a huge bonus for us,” Bradley said. “Garner and Wenaas gave us a lot of quality innings while Jordan Clark led us in appearances. I’m looking forward to seeing what these guys can do this season. They all had a great summer and good fall.”

u Jairo Valdez ss/2B

Senior Tyler Garner started 15 games and tied a teamhigh with eight wins, pitching three complete games. He recorded 58 strikeouts with a season-high nine strikeouts against Mid-America Christian on April 24. Jacob Wenaas collected three wins in 12 games while making eight starts. He struck out a season-high seven batters against Northwestern Oklahoma State on April 18. Clark appeared in 19 games, garnering two wins and a teamhigh six saves in 42.1 innings tossed. “We have a good mix of left and right-handed pitchers,” Bradley said. “Drew Taylor and Casey Cassity are both left-handed returners who got a lot of quality innings. Frensly Martina pitched and hit for us last season. It’s going to be very competitive on the mound. I’m looking forward to seeing who steps up and gets the job done.” Cassity appeared in 13 games as a true freshman last season. He registered a 2.98 ERA as he earned two wins and one save on the season. Taylor appeared in 15 games as he hurled 22 innings. He compiled a 4.91 ERA and acquired one win. Martina appeared in 11 games and earned two wins with 12.2 innings of work in 2010.

8

2011 Baseball Season Outlook committed just one error. “Keith Poverud and KD (Kevin) Radford saw quality time in the outfield last season,” Bradley said. “KD is a left handed hitter who has good speed. He is a little bit more experienced than Keith, who is coming off his freshman season with some quality at-bats. Keith had a good fall and I really expect him to have a chance to contribute this spring.” Colton West and Jairo Valdez return to the diamond for their senior season. West was the Hillcats everyday third baseman in 2010 as he started in 44 games. He was selected to the SAC Gold Glove team with a .925 fielding percentage. Valdez played in 49 of the Hillcats 50 games in 2010 while starting in 39 contests. He drove in 23 runs on 32 hits.

u Senior Grant Cosby was named first team all-conference in 2010.

“Colton West is the most versatile player on our roster,” Bradley said. “He will hit in the middle of the order. Jairo Valdez will return at second base. He had a solid year on offense and defense last season.”

“I feel like our pitching staff is as good as any, which will allow us to compete with all of the teams that we play,” Bradley said. “We’ve got a lot of depth which will become more important as the season progresses. It allows us to persevere through injuries.”

NEWCOMERS RSU welcomes 16 newcomers to the Hill this spring. Nine pitchers were added to the Diamond Cats roster for the 2011 season.

The Hillcats return two veteran catchers who will split time behind the plate. As the primary catcher last season, Joe Manbodh was error free in 157 chances. Lance Rymel played in 34 games and started in 20 contests. The Broken Arrow, Okla. native posted a .988 fielding percentage as he committed just two errors in 173 chances.

Junior Matt Sample redshirted last season after enduring Tommy John surgery and is one of the most anticipated players on the Hillcat roster. Sample, a right-handed pitcher from Pea Ridge, Ark., was drafted by the Texas Rangers after his freshman season at Crowder College.

“Joe Manbodh and Lance Rymel will split time behind the plate,” Bradley said. “They are both veteran catchers, and are as good as any in the country.”

“Sample is touted as one of the top players in the country and has been clocked at 96-97 miles per hour,” Bradley said. “He hasn’t pitched in a year so the question is how consistent he is going to be and at what point is he going to be 100 percent. Right now we feel like he is at 90 to 95 percent. We hope to see him excel this season.”

Brandt Barnes returns to centerfield for his senior season. The speedy outfielder from Bentonville, Ark, was a standout on defense last season as he was error free on 71 chances throughout his 44 starts. He led the team in stolen bases with 20 on the season. He also led the Hillcats in walks (33) while recording 53 hits and 26 RBIs.

Junior Zach Williams transferred from Seminole State where he finished with a 2-0 record. The Roland, Okla., native helped Seminole to the 2009 JUCO World Series. Right-handed hurlers Mario Mena and Freddy Soto join the Hillcats from Western Oklahoma Junior College. Soto was team captain and Mena had a record of 2-1 with four saves, a 3.15 ERA and 52 strikeouts as they helped Western hold a No. 1 national ranking throughout the year.

“Barnes brings a lot of energy to the game and is one of the best defensive players I have ever coached,” Bradley said. “He is slated to be our leadoff hitter and has a chance to have an outstanding year.” Kevin Radford and Keith Poverud return to the outfield as well after seeing their first action in a Hillcat uniform last season. Radford appeared in 44 games as a junior and stole 10 bases. He finished second on the team in batting average (.344) with a .496 on-base percentage. Poverud appeared in 38 games as a true freshman and

“Zach Williams, Freddy Soto, Matt Sample, Mario Mena and Tyler Brown are all newcomers who will bring power to the mound,” said Bradley. “The key for them is consis-

tency and being able to throw strikes.” Inola, Okla., native Cade McKewon transfers to RSU after two years at Independence (Kan.) Community College. In 2010 he hit .425 with 10 home runs at ICC and was named all-conference and all-region shortstop. Cody and Colton Campbell transfer to RSU after two seasons at the University of West Florida. Payden Yarmer signed with Rogers State out of Paradise Valley Community College, where he helped lead them to a Junior College Division II World Series in 2010.

SCHEDULE RSU kicks off the 2011 campaign on Feb. 12-14 with a six-game road trip in Dallas, Texas featuring games against Dallas Christian College, Tabor College and Howard Payne University. The Diamond Cats open their 30-game Sooner Athletic Conference slate on March 1 at Oklahoma Christian. The Cats host Mid-America Christian in their conference home opener on March 3. Wayland Baptist and Lubbock Christian will co-host the SAC Tournament May 4-6.

“We feel like every position player we brought in has an opportunity to compete for a starting spot,” Bradley said. “For the first time in my career I have four infielders who can play all four positions. Cade McKewon is a local product from Inola. We were really glad to get him. He can play second or third base. The Campbell boys along with Payden Yarmer will bring power to the lineup and will have an opportunity to hit in the middle of the order. All three players can play outfield and first base.”

“Our conference is tough from the top to bottom,” Bradley said. “LCU and OCU are the teams that everyone is chasing. Their history and tradition have separated them nationally. Everyone is chasing those two and they are not far behind. The gap has continued to close a little bit each year and it’s going to be very competitive.”

EXPECTATIONS RSU was tabbed seventh in the Sooner Athletic Conference coaches’ poll. However, in their sixth season of baseball, the Cats look to turn heads in 2011. With a group of experienced veterans and talented newcomers, the Hillcats have their sights set on a World Series berth.

Randy Ramirez is expected to take over at shortstop. The junior from Bronx, N.Y., comes to RSU from Western Oklahoma College. Last season, Ramirez hit .388 with 17 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 61 RBI and 25 steals as he helped Western to its highest ranking of No. 1, a regional and district championship, and a third place finish in the World Series.

“I feel we are better than the No. 7 ranking we received but we are going to have to earn that recognition, it is not given to us,” Bradley said. “The Sooner Athletic Conference is rich in tradition and this club has the capability to challenge the top teams in the SAC. We have the ability to compete for a spot at the National Tournament. I would be disappointed if we didn’t win 35 or more games.”

“Pencil in Randy Ramirez as our starting shortstop,” said Bradley. “Randy was the everyday starter at Western and helped them get to the Junior College World Series the past two years. He was probably our most consistent infielder in the fall.”

Ron Bradley - Head Baseball Coach Head Baseball Coach Ron Bradley is a member of Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association (OBCA) Hall of Fame, Class of 2003.

Bradley’s Hillcats have posted a 134-105 record in five seasons as an NAIA-member institution. He and his wife Jill reside in Claremore. They have two grown children; Ryan, who is the associate athletic director for external relations at RSU, and Kayla, an elementary school teacher in Lawrence, Kan.

He began his collegiate coaching career at RSU in 2004 after compiling one of the most successful high school baseball coaching resumes in Oklahoma history. Most recently, Bradley was named the Oklahoma College Baseball Coach of the Year by his peers in January 2009. His career accomplishments include four state championships in four different classifications (2A, 4A, 5A, 6A), one state runner-up, and 11 regional championships. He tallied nearly 500 career victories in his 21 years as a head coach at the high school level and holds the unique distinction of winning the first baseball state championship at West Fork (Ark.), Claremore (Okla.), and Jenks (Okla.) high schools. Bradley took Claremore to the state championship game three different times and reached at least the semi-final round in all three seasons he coached at Class 6A power Jenks High School. Bradley has been selected Oklahoma Coach of the Year three times by The Daily Oklahoman and Tulsa World. He has also been honored with two National Region Coach of the Year Awards and is a five-time OBCA Coach of the Year. In 1998 he led the Oklahoma Senior Sunbelt team to its first ever Sunbelt Series Championship. Bradley also has been honored with coaching duties in the Oklahoma All-State game, Sooner State games, and numerous other all-star competitions. More than a dozen of Bradley’s former players have been selected in the Major League Baseball amateur draft, two of which have reached the big leagues. Bradley has been a keynote speaker at the state and national level and is highly regarded in the baseball coaching community for his philosophies on hitting and his ability to build championship programs. Bradley laid the foundation for athletics at RSU when he introduced club sports to the campus as the director of physical education in 2004. He later served as interim athletic director and remains instrumental in the development of RSU athletic programs. Bradley guided the Hillcats to their first winning season in 2007 with a 28-23 record. He followed that up with a 35-16 record in 2008 and a fourth place finish as a first-year member of the prestigious Sooner Athletic Conference. He achieved his 100th collegiate coaching victory in 2009 while leading RSU to its third consecutive winning season.

Robert Brown - Assistant Baseball Coach Assistant Coach Robert Brown has been a part of the RSU Baseball program since its inception. Brown joined Head Coach Ron Bradley to develop the Hillcat baseball program in 2004. He previously served as an assistant coach at Virginia’s Radford University, an NCAA Division I school in the Big South Conference. His duties at Radford were primarily pitching, defense, and recruiting. Brown also served as the head coach of the Waynesboro Generals of the Valley League for two seasons. Prior to his work with Waynesboro, Brown worked as an assistant coach at Collinsville High School as well as a stint at Oklahoma Junior College in Oklahoma City. Brown guided the RSU pitching staff to a program-best 35-16 record in 2008. The Hillcat hurlers posted a 3.97 team ERA and racked up 299 strikeouts compared to just 132 walks in 2007. Along with his coaching at RSU, Brown enjoys being a clinical speaker and private pitching instructor.

Ryan Brittle - Assistant Baseball Coach Ryan Brittle joined the RSU baseball staff in 2007 after spending nine years as an assistant at the Division I level. Brittle worked for seven years as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Radford University before joining the Hillcats. He led the Highlanders to five conference tournament appearances and a fourth-place finish in the Big South Conference. Prior to working at Radford, Brittle served a two-year stint at Virginia Tech where he helped the Hokies claim back-toback Atlantic 10 Conference championships. Brittle also played for the Hokies and graduated from VT with a B.S. in forestry. His primary duties at RSU include working with infielders and hitting instruction. In his first year with the program, the Hillcats set team records for batting average, slugging and home runs. Under Brittle’s guidance, RSU raised the bar with its offensive numbers again in 2009. Brittle also serves as the third base coach for the Hillcats.

Jimmy Rogers - Assistant Baseball Coach Jimmy Rogers brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the Major Leagues to the Hillcats. Rogers joined the RSU coaching staff in 2007 and works primarily with the pitching staff. A former big leaguer, he spent two seasons in the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays. Rogers graduated from Tulsa Webster High School in 1985 and was an all-state selection while leading the Warriors to a state championship. He pitched for two seasons at Seminole State College and was drafted by Toronto in the 1986 amateur draft. Rogers lives in Beggs and enjoys giving personal pitching instruction when not working with the Hillcats.

Hillcat Baseball 2010 Season in Review defeating Oklahoma Wesleyan for the third time in the season and sweeping SAC opponent Oklahoma Christian. RSU claimed victory over NCAA Division II opponent Arkansas Tech, 9-5, in Russeville, Ark. Arkansas native Colton West wrecked the Wonder Boys senior night by going yard in his first two at-bats and tying a Hillcat single-game record with seven RBI. In the final game of the regular season RSU crushed OC 24-8 to punch the Cats’ ticket to the conference tournament. The Hillcats set new school records in home runs with 10 and hits with 24. Tyler Harold became the first Hillcat to hit three bombs in one contest and combined with West to hit five home runs and 11 RBI against the Eagles.

u RSU posted its second 30-win season in 2010.

The Hillcats’ season came to a close in the SAC tournament after a four-run loss to Lubbock Christian and a three run loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State.

In 2010, Coach Ron Bradley’s squad posted 30 wins for the second time in program history with a 30-21 record and qualified for the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. It was the fourth consecutive winning season for Bradley and the Hillcats.

The Sooner Athletic Conference proved why it is one of the strongest in the nation as the Hillcats went 15-15 in 2010. The Cats took care of business against non-conference opponents with a record of 15-6. RSU dominated non-conference in-state opponents Bacone College and Oklahoma Wesleyan with a record of 5-0.

The Diamond Cats opened the season with a sevengame win streak, sweeping Kansas Wesleyan, Benedictine College and Baker University. RSU won 14 of its first 16 contests with the only losses coming to Sterling College and Oklahoma Baptist.

Coach Bradley’s squad protected home turf going 19-11 at the Hillcat Complex. Since the opening of the complex in 2007 the Hillcats have a home record of 75-42.

RSU swept conference foe St. Gregory’s and won the series vs. Oklahoma Baptist in the early half of the season. The Hillcats high flying act was grounded over the next 11 games as Bradley’s squad went 1-10 being swept by Wayland Baptist, Lubbock Christian and Oklahoma City. The lone win during the stretch came against Bacone College at home.

Five Hillcats earned weekly conference honors as West and Rob Rodriguez were named SAC Player of the Week during the season. Tyler Garner and Casey Cassity were named Conference Pitcher of the Week while Grant Cosby received the recognition twice.

The RSU baseball squad accomplished another first, taking on an NCAA Division I opponent in Wichita State. The Hillcats gave the prestigious Shockers a run for their money, tying the game twice only to see WSU respond in the bottom of the inning to take the lead back. RSU didn’t commit an error in the contest and out hit the Shockers for the game, but five walks and three hit batters proved costly as Wichita State won 12-7.

Cosby was named All-Conference first team while teammates Zach Hamby and Jordan Clark made the second team. West and Tyler Harold were named to the SAC Golden Glove team as the Hillcats had five players receive postseason awards. RSU is slated to return 20 players from the 2010 campaign. The pitching rotation should bring more experience as all but seven starts are expected to be back in 2011. Four everyday starters in the field should return and two other position players that started numerous games are scheduled to return.

A sweep of USAO and wins at Bacone and Northwestern Oklahoma State gave the Hillcats a five-game winning streak in early April. The Hillcats closed out the season winning seven of the last eight regular season games. That run included claiming the series over Mid-America,

“I was looking for a university where I would be more than a face in the crowd. At Rogers State University, I’m a member of the Honors Program and the varsity cheerleading squad, all while pursuing my degree in medical/molecular biology. I don’t know for sure where I’ll be ten years from now but I do know I’ll be working in the medical field and my education will have prepared me to be successful. RSU has given me so many opportunities that I would not have gotten at other schools. For that, I’ll always be grateful.”

New Construction at the Hillcat Complex

u The RSU athletic department recently unveiled its plans for the completion of the Hillcat Baseball and Softball Complex.

These are exciting times on “The Hill in Claremore. RSU is experiencing unparalleled growth as one of Oklahoma's fastest-growing universities while our emerging athletic programs have enjoyed unprecedented success since their inception in 2006. RSU's rapid development brings with it a new level of expectations and a number of needs for improvement and expansion. We believe that now is the optimal time to begin a lasting partnership with RSU and Hillcat Athletics.

Construction could start as early as Summer 2011. For more information on this project call the RSU athletic office at (918) 343-7782.

Providing our student-athletes with elite-level playing and training facilities is among our highest priorities during this crucial stage in our development. Completion of our new baseball and softball complex is at the top of our list. RSU is currently seeking donations and sponsorship opportunities for the facility with a fundraising goal of $500,000. These contributions will allow us to complete the third and final phase of construction at the complex, which will include additional grandstands, public restrooms, concessions, coaches' offices, a meeting room, central courtyard and much more. The completed facility will serve as the region's premiere multi-purpose athletic facility and afford RSU the opportunity to host multiple high-profile regional and national sporting events each year.
