IT'S PERSONAL “I have always dreamed of being a doctor, where I can help people and make a difference in their lives. RSU is giving me the chance to earn a bachelor’s degree that is perfect for pursuing medical school, while I can be active with campus organizations. Through RSU, I was able to get a summer internship with Grand River Dam Authority that gave me valuable real-world experience. It all adds up to make RSU the university I always wanted to attend.”

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT We welcome you to another exciting season of Hillcat golf as we start our second season competing as a member of the Heartland Conference in NCAA Division II. It’s thrilling to watch our student-athletes and athletic programs perform at the highest level. The development of our athletic programs mirrors the exciting changes that have occurred throughout the university with a distinguished list of recent milestones that includes: • Developing RSU as the Tulsa metropolitan area’s only public, residential four-year university, providing students with personalized academic attention that’s become RSU’s hallmark; • Expanding the residential life experience with the construction of a new $11 million campus housing facility (University Village C) that will house residents starting in fall 2015 and this fall’s opening of the new $5 million Chapman Dining Hall that provides the first comprehensive dining facility on campus in decades, while also containing a storm shelter for campus residents during inclement weather; • Introducing new academic programs that meet the needs of Oklahoma’s business and industry, including our first graduate program – an MBA degree program that started this fall; • Expanding and remodeling academic facilities to provide students with up-to-date academic resources; and • Developing strong ties with the communities we serve in order to fulfill our mission of education and service. As the state’s newest four-year university, RSU has quickly matured into a leading regional university recognized for the value it provides to students and service it provides to the community. Our growth also extends to our intercollegiate athletics, which are a relatively new addition after being reintroduced to campus in 2005. In only a few short years, our Hillcat teams have become a vital component of the university’s DNA providing an infectious campus spirit and a strong connection to the community. The university and our students have invested in athletic facilities, including the new baseball/softball complex, Bushyhead Fieldhouse renovations, expansion and turf installation at Soldier Field and construction of soccer and cross country facilities on campus. We appreciate our entire student body for their support of these campus initiatives, including the student fees that funded the recently completed $4 million renovations of the soccer facilities and baseball/softball complex. Their support signals a strong vote of confidence in our athletic programs, but also represents their investment in the quality of life at Rogers State. We have enjoyed our affiliation with the Heartland Conference as we continue along our path to becoming full members of the NCAA Division II. We appreciated the high priority both the NCAA and the Heartland Conference place on promoting healthy values, developing strong character traits, and encouraging academic achievement among all student-athletes. These are core values for RSU’s programs, and we work daily to impress them upon our student-athletes. We appreciate your interest in RSU athletics, and we look forward to another great season on the pitch. Go Hillcats!

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Greetings from the Hill and welcome to the sixth edition of Hillcat golf. The RSU Athletic Department is set for the 2014-2015 school year as we embark upon RSU's second season in the Heartland Conference and continue the NCAA Division II membership process. The Hillcat men's and women's golf teams have enjoyed tremendous success since their inaugural seasons in 2009-10. During our tenure in the Sooner Athletic Conference, both programs qualified for the SAC postseason tournament in four-consecutive seasons. In 2014, the RSU golf program starts a new chapter as Head Coach Josh Fosdick takes the helm, as the second head coach in program history. There is no better time to be involved in Hillcat Athletics as we look to continue to improve upon the triumphs that have helped make Rogers State Hillcats a household name. Both our men's and women's golf teams have built a solid foundation for the program while also emphasizing the importance of academic success. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our men's and women's golf teams and are excited to see what the future holds for these fledging programs. The outpouring of community support has played a huge role in our success and will remain vital to Hillcat Athletics as we strive to raise the bar once again in 2014-2015. Thank you for all you do to support the Hillcats!

ABOUT RSU

u RSU offers a wide variety of bachelor’s and associate degrees.

Rogers State University: A Great Oklahoma Higher Education Success Story

Rogers State University holds a historic position in the annals of Oklahoma higher education. Since RSU was accredited as a four-year university in 2000, enrollment has increased by more than 60 percent, earning RSU the title of Oklahoma's fastest-growing regional university. A dynamic, progressive university with nearly 4,300 students, RSU is widely recognized for its high-quality academic programs, distance learning options and high-technology learning environment. RSU is the only public, four-year, residential university in the Tulsa metropolitan area. RSU offers a wide variety of bachelor's and associate degrees. Innovative new bachelor's degrees include applied technology, environmental conservation, military history, sport management and game development. In fall 2014, the university will begin its first graduate degree program, a master’s of business administration. Many students from northeast Oklahoma who plan to attend medical school complete their undergraduate studies through RSU's program in medical/molecular biology. RSU enjoys a statewide reputation for academic excellence in its nursing program.

Distinguished Academic Achievements

RSU received continued accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools without further required evaluation for 10 years - a rarity in higher education in Oklahoma and a major accomplishment achieved by few universities. This is truly a testament to the high academic quality of RSU. RSU participates in The Washington Center Internship Program, a nationally recognized program placing students with private, public, and nonprofit organizations in Washington, D.C. Students participating in the semester-long internship earn college credit while they gain "real world" experience within their field of interest and interact with influential leaders and policymakers. RSU is one of only three universities in Oklahoma to participate in this prestigious program. Most RSU faculty members hold doctoral degrees, or the highest degrees available in their fields, from esteemed institutions across the nation, including Princeton University, Duke University and the University of Oklahoma.

edge features associated with higher learning today, including classrooms equipped with Smart Boards, a performance studio, an art gallery and an outdoor classroom for learning outdoors on sunny days. RSU opened a new student apartment community in September 2011 that doubles the number of students living on the main campus in Claremore. The $11.5 million project accommodates up to 255 students in a three-level facility, located across the street from the present university apartments. The new 87,118-square-foot complex is located just west of Soldier Field. Chapman Dining Hall opened on campus in fall 2014.

The President's Leadership Class (PLC), a four-year scholarship program that fosters personal and professional development, was designed for RSU students who have demonstrated leadership abilities. RSU also offers study abroad programs in Italy and Wales through the university's Studies-at-Large Program. The international study programs provide students with opportunities to see the world, learn about other cultures, and enrich their educational experience.

Stratton Taylor Library, which opened in 2004, features distinguished collections, wireless Internet, study areas, reading rooms, computer stations and classrooms.

Growth in Learning Facilities

A Brief History of RSU

The Centennial Center, which opened in 2009, has become the centerpiece of the main campus in Claremore. This twolevel, 50,000-square-foot facility combines student development programs under one roof, serves as a central location for students to study and socialize and provides a focal point for the RSU campus in Claremore. The facility also offers ballrooms, conference centers, and meeting rooms for the community.

RSU was founded in 1909 as Eastern University Preparatory School in Claremore. The school prepared the daughters and sons of area residents to attend college. Historic Preparatory Hall, known for its iconic gold dome, was the first building on the school's campus. However, the school closed only a few years after it opened. Taking its place was the storied Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA), which operated on the Hill from 1919 to 1971. Known as the “West Point of the Southwest,” OMA has an extensive register of graduates who became great leaders, both in military and civilian life. More than 2,500 OMA

graduates served in the Armed Forces of the United States during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. More than 100 graduates gave their lives in service to their country. In 1971, OMA closed and Claremore Junior College opened on the Hill, serving more than 400 students. The junior college grew rapidly in the 1970s, and by the time it was renamed Rogers State College in 1982, the institution boasted a variety of associate degree programs, distance learning capabilities, a new radio and television station and intercollegiate athletics. In 1999, the Oklahoma Legislature renamed the institution Rogers State University and charged it with seeking accreditation as a four-year university. Accreditation at the baccalaureate level was granted in 2000. RSU offers a wide variety of bachelor's degree programs to students on campuses in Claremore, Bartlesville, Pryor and online.

HILLCAT LIFE SKILLS

u More than 150 student-athletes have graduated over the last seven years.

Academic Development

The Hillcat Academic Center is located in the basement of Bushyhead Fieldhouse. There, student-athletes have access to a full computer lab with a printer and a classroom that can be utilized for study hall as well as individual study. Academic advising for all student-athletes is available through the office of the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Development. Counseling for choosing a major and advising for course enrollment are provided, as well as help in obtaining a faculty advisor for those that have chosen a major. Tutors are available for most subjects by athletic department academic tutors in one-on-one or group sessions. Additional tutoring is available through individual academic departments. Hillcat Athletics requires weekly study hall for all freshman and first semester transfer students to attend. Weekly study hall time thereafter is required as determined by cumulative GPA.

NCAA Compliance Training

Hillcat student-athletes are educated about NCAA rules and regulations, including the NCAA regulations of practice and play seasons, outside competition and tryouts, commercial endorsements, boosters, student host recruiting and progress towards a degree.

Hillcat LIFE Programs

The Hillcat LIFE programs are designed to promote student-athletes’ success off the field or court. Each year, RSU introduces a variety of programs to enrich the college experiences of its student-athletes, helping them avoid potential pitfalls and giving them information useful when making important life decisions. The following are some examples of Hillcat LIFE programs: Social Media Training Rogers State educates and prepares student-athletes to make a positive impact through social media. RSU helps studentathletes understand the risk involved with using social media poorly, both currently and in the future. Through social media training, athletes are educated of the opportunities of social media in developing themselves for the workplace. Student-athletes learn the impact current social media interaction can have on their job search.

HILLCAT LIFE SKILLS

u Athletics has become an integral part of the campus community, with student-athletes serving as leaders on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Drug and Alcohol Counseling Student-athletes are made aware of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. They are given examples of athletes with promising futures who failed to reach their potential due to drug/alcohol abuse. Dangers of Gambling Student-athletes are warned about the dangers of gambling addictions and also are warned against gambling on any athletic event, which is a violation of NCAA rules. Community Engagement  Rogers State athletic teams develop relationships with charities and community organizations throughout Claremore and surrounding communities to build relationships with community members. Organizations Hillcat teams have worked with include: TOPSoccer, Rogers County Youth Services, Claremore Sequoyah Elementary, First Baptist Church Recovery Program, Claremore’s Westside Elementary, Catoosa Special Olympics, the Claremore Community Center’s Blast program, Operation Christmas Child, Claremore Nursing Home and Inola Elementary. Hillcat teams also took part in Rogers State University Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service events serving at a Habitat for Humanity site clearing debris and at the Claremore Veterans Center playing Bingo. In the fall 2014 semester, Hillcat athletic teams volunteered in over 30 community programs and initiatives in an effort to positively impact Claremore and the surrounding area.

CHELSEABURNEY

WOMEN’S GOLF OUTLOOK Player of the Week honors after winning the Mystic Creek Mulerider Fall Classic closing the month of September.

The Rogers State women's golf team had a record-breaking fall season posting three of the four lowest team scores in the program's sixth season of competition and looks to carry that success into its spring championship season under the direction of its first-year head coach, Josh Fosdick.

Kina Boone returns to the Hill for her sophomore campaign following the 2013-14 season where she carded the lowest round of the year for RSU, a 1-over-par 72 in the season finale at the Natural State Golf Classic placing fourth overall. Boone has played every round since joining the Hillcats looking to continue to lower her scores as she fine tunes her game.

"The women's team had a really nice fall," Fosdick said. "Obviously, they played really well the first event in Oklahoma City. It really excited me that whatever we were doing in the short span of a couple weeks really seemed to kind of open them up. They played some of their best golf early on."

"Two up and coming players are Kina and Mica. Mica apparently did some very great things over the summer. She is very quiet but demands a lot of herself. She has done a ton and has a great game. I'm excited for where she can go with her golf game," Fosdick stated. "I think Kina is what I would call a natural kind of talent. She has an authentic golf swing. She is an athlete and goes out there and gets it with what she has. Both of those players are exciting to know that I have a couple more years with them and that they are only moving in the right direction."

The Hillcats broke the school record for low round breaking 300 for the second time in school history with a 298 in their season-opening round at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic and followed by breaking it again the next day to close the event firing a 291 as a team. Without any seniors on the roster, the opportunity to step up and lead is there for the taking with several players currently providing guidance as juniors Raquel Trevino and Chelsea Burney have taken on that role for the Hillcats. Trevino returned this fall as the top scorer for RSU and is right near the top again heading into the spring having played every event since coming to the Hill in 2012. Meanwhile, Burney has made 20 career appearances in tournaments entering the spring.

Fellow sophomore Michelle Tierney returned to the Hillcats after posting the third-lowest scoring average a season ago competing in all 10 events and dropped her score by two strokes through four tournaments in the fall. The only international player on the roster, Tierney has quickly adjusted to golf in the United States showcased by two top-10 finishes earlier this season and five for her short career.

"(Raquel) brings a lot of entertainment to the team. I think she can easily become a vocal leader of the team. Unfortunately, in games of golf it doesn't matter all the little things sometimes, it still comes down to the score you shoot. I think as that falls more in line with her personality, she is going to be a natural leader for the team," Fosdick added. "(Chelsea) wants it pretty bad; she wants to be the best player on the team. I think she has probably worked harder than any of the other girls in the offseason. She is a very loving individual and loves all her teammates and wants them to succeed. I think you combine that with the work ethic and it will be a nice position to be in."

RAQUELTREVINO

Finally getting a chance on the course in the fall, sophomore Mica Eastin took full advantage of the opportunity and closed the early schedule as the top scorer for the Hillcats firing the two lowest scores in program history with 1-under-par rounds of 71. The Carrollton, Texas native became the program's first to earn Heartland Conference Women's Golf

"One of our players that played every single event is Michelle from across the pond, bringing a little bit of flavor to the travel team," Fosdick said. "She has the potential to be a very vocal leader. She works hard and she wants it bad. You should see her scores get better this spring as well." A fourth sophomore in the mix, Morgan Brown, has not played in any tournaments due to injury, but continues to showcase what it means to be a student-athlete while battling to get back on the course. "Morgan has had an interesting fall. She suffers from some back injuries that have made practicing hard. I have to give it up to Morgan; she has been at everything we have ever done. She is a true team player in a situation where it would have been very easy to get disgruntled or disillusioned a little bit," Fosdick praised.

WOMEN’S GOLF OUTLOOK

u Claremore, Okla., native Addison Losornio is set for her first season with the Hillcats.

Adding to the already young but talented roster are three freshmen making the transition to RSU from as far as 1,200 miles away or as few as essentially down the road as Tallie Alder (South Ogden, Utah), Addison Losornio (Claremore, Okla.), and Elizabeth McCloskey (Allen, Texas) join the program. All three faced adversity in the form of injuries during the fall keeping them from tournament competition, but Coach Fosdick remains optimistic each will be able to contribute come the spring.

tenure at Claremore Christian High School. She earned a spot on the all-state and all-metro teams as a senior placing second at the Oklahoma Class 2A State Golf Tournament carding rounds of 73 and 75. Losornio won four tournaments during her final season with the Warriors. McCloskey joins the Hillcats from Allen High School where she won a Texas Class 5A State Championship as a senior. With her help, the Eagles also won a Region 2 title in 2014 while McCloskey earned top-10 finishes in six summer golf tournaments entering her final high school season.

"The most important thing is that they are healthy," Fosdick added. "We want to make sure that we do not try to push them. They are in a nice spot where they have that kind of time and obviously we want them to develop and it is hard to do that when you can't participant and you can't practice. I know all of them took their off-season to rehab. The best thing they can do is be positive."

"We have some nice potential on the team," Fosdick concluded. "It's about being the best you can day-to-day. I think the essence of what we're trying to do is that if you can be your very best every single day, to be the best you can that day, no matter what the level. We have a lot of talent that just needs the right kind of cultivation and I think we will be a good team this spring. They have the same opportunity to go to conference and turn some heads. They are in a position to forge their own future based off their own efforts. It could be a very fun spring."

Alder follows in the footsteps of her older brother, Tanner Alder, a member of the Hillcat men's golf team, in coming to RSU. She led Bonneville High School to two championships, a runner-up, and a third-place finish at the Utah State Championships during her four-year career with the Lakers. Alder placed second at the state meet as an individual during her senior season a year ago firing a 75 at East Bay Golf Course earning first-team all-state honors while serving as team captain.

The seven-tournament spring championship season opens February 16-17 at the St. Mary's Invitational at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. Three more trips to Texas mixed with events in Edmond, Oklahoma and Fort Smith, Arkansas mark the remainder of the schedule heading into the season finale at the Heartland Conference Championship held at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas April 20-21.

Losornio remains close to home beginning her collegiate golf career in Claremore coming to the Hill after a distinguished

TANNER ALDER

MEN’S GOLF OUTLOOK As the Rogers State men's golf team gets prepared for the championship portion of the 2014-15 season, it will build upon a successful fall under the direction of first-year head coach, Josh Fosdick, the second coach since the program's inception in 2009-10 after making the jump to the Hillcats from NCAA Division I University of Texas-Pan American.

"I think the player that kind of developed the most would be Hagen," Fosdick stated. "He is always really upbeat, always looking out for the other guys on the team. I have been really impressed that he has bought in to what I have brought to the program and has kind of taken that and flourished with it." A pair of sophomores return to RSU hoping to build on impressive collegiate debuts in 2013-14 as Henning Hogmoen and Ryan Roberts were the third and fourth-best scorers, respectively, for the Hillcats as freshman. The duo carried that success into the fall season where each lowered their scoring averages by two strokes with Hogmoen earning a conference weekly award after finishing second at the Texoma Championship.

Fosdick inherited an experienced squad with the potential to shoot low as the top four scoring golfers return to the program from 2013-14 with those same four averaging nearly the same score per round through four events in the fall. Entering its second year as a member of the NCAA Division II Heartland Conference, nine of RSU's 10 golfers on the roster were on the team previously with the addition of a lone freshman.

"The great thing (Henning) has is a tenacity that he brings from having being part of the European system. He is very much a student of the game. Where Americans can be a little bit more emotional and go on feeling, he is very much a technician when it comes to his game. We know he is out there working hard and wants to be the best player on the team," Fosdick said. "Ryan has a lot of upside. He missed the first event and that got under his skin a little bit and then he played in every single event after that, and played very well for us. I see that he will have a spring where he should be building off what he did this fall."

"I think going in to the spring what I'm trying to do is actually have no expectations," Fosdick said. "We are going to continue to do what we did this fall, which is show up every day, do everything as well as we can, from waking up and going to workouts, to doing well in school, then showing up at the golf course ready to put in some good work." Tanner Alder returns to the Hill as the lone RSU senior after posting the lowest scoring average for the Hillcats a season ago at 76.0 playing all 23 rounds in nine tournaments and dropped to a score of 74.0 through the fall. He fired the low round last year for RSU carding a 4-under-par 68 at the season-opening Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational. Alder ended the season posting three top10 finishes, including a career-best fourth at the Texoma Championship and looks to build on that success in his final collegiate season.

HAGEN BARMASSE

"Our senior, Tanner, has really stepped up," Fosdick added. "Going in to this year for him, I wanted to make sure he had a really great experience in his last season. The remarkable thing is how much he's embraced what I have talked about. I think he has really flourished under it and is having a great time."

Will Lecky and Eric Moore are two more sophomores that have earned tournament spots in the past and continue to work hard hoping to become permanent fixtures in the RSU lineup. Lecky has played three career tournaments to date while Moore got his first taste of action this fall playing twice.

"We had several guys that have kind of moved in and out of the lineup this fall. As a coach, that's a best case scenario because it keeps the guys at home hungry. I have to compete well and then show back up at home ready to compete again. Those guys have got some experience now; they're hungry to get back in the lineup. It has created a really nice environment here at home. I hope we continue that in the spring," Fosdick stated.

The first Hillcat golfer to earn Heartland Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week honors in program history is back as Hagen Barmasse is primed for a tremendous junior campaign. He picked up the weekly award following a runner-up finish at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational, the only team title for RSU last season. He tallied the team's second-lowest scoring average at 76.4 playing 18 rounds on the year turning in two runner-up finishes.

Two more juniors are back on the Hill looking to crack the lineup in the spring but providing much needed depth for the team in Taylor Schoppa and Trevor Williams as they add to the competition that drives the program forward.

MEN’S GOLF OUTLOOK

u Alex Marsh comes to the Hill from Southampton, England and is the only freshman on the 2014-15 roster.

"I've seen a really nice competitive state develop between those guys," Fosdick added. "They know they have to beat that group of guys. I hope I take a different lineup all the way until we get close to conference and then make my decision hard on which five guys are going to travel down to the conference tournament."

With so many returning players, the competition level has increased in every aspect of the program from conditioning and weight training to on-course practices. According to Coach Fosdick, that has brought a new attitude for the team in the 11tournament season.

Another familiar name makes his return to the Hillcats as redshirt junior Mark Healy will again don the navy and red. A native of Sandwich, England, Healy competed in four tournaments with RSU during the 2012-13 season and brings high-profile experience after playing in British Open qualifying twice.

"We're really trying to develop a culture here where if we do the good things every single day that the end results will happen as we go along," Fosdick said. "My expectation is that the guys continue to build on what we did in the fall, which is grow personally, grow in their golf, grow in their academics, and just give their very best every day."

"Mark was a player that I sought after when I got here," Fosdick said. "I am excited for him. I feel like this is a second go round; a brand new opportunity. You can really tell that he has an inner drive and he has something to prove. I expect big things out of him."

The Hillcats have six chances this spring to prepare for the final test of the season, which is a chance to compete in the Heartland Conference Championships for the first time, with a rigorous slate of events against conference and regional opponents.

The Hillcats added one freshman in Alex Marsh as he looks to jump right into the collegiate game and push for one of the top spots making two tournament appearances this fall with one top 10 result. The Southampton, England native was a standout in high school at Brockenhurst College before crossing the Atlantic and joining the Hillcats.

"I think this spring schedule is really set up nicely for us," Fosdick added. "Obviously, the ones that are hosted by the schools that you have tabbed as the must beat, schools like St. Mary's, St, Edward's, DBU. We are playing in all three of their events. It is going to be our first major test of where do we stack up. I believe that we are going to learn and grow from it. If we can walk away with those, they are going to be confidence builders heading into conference."

"Having not known anyone, I think everybody, including Alex, is on the same playing ground. He comes in with no experience whatsoever but we had guys on the team that had very little experience after last year," Fosdick stated.

The spring championship season opens with back-to-back trips to San Antonio, Texas starting February 16-17 at the San Antonio Shootout hosted by Oklahoma Christian. The season ends at the Heartland Conference Championship held at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, Texas April 19-21.

2013-2014 MEN’S GOLF SEASON IN REVIEW RSU closed the fall season at the Northwood Fall Shootout slipping to sixth at Tangle Ridge Golf Club after closing round one in fourth. Sophomore Aaron Davis and freshman Austin Wride led the Hillcats as the duo finished in a four-way tie for 22nd. The Hillcats opened the spring portion of the schedule with their second victory of the season coming at the weather-shortened Jack Brown Memorial Invitational hosted by conference opponent Texas A&M International at Laredo Country Club. With round three cancelled due to wintry weather conditions, RSU was named tournament champions following one of the best rounds in program history and the second-best of the season to start the event posting a 1-under-par 287 in round one. Barmasse matched the best finish of his career placing second, just one shot back of the individual medalist, carding rounds of 1under-par 71 and a 1-over-par 73. The sophomore garnered Heartland Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week honors for his performance earning the first weekly award in program history. He was joined in the top 10 by Alder's fifth-place finish after firing rounds of 73 and 75 and freshman Henning Hogmoen, who shot 71 and 80 to place sixth.

u Tanner Alder returns to the Hill for his final season after posting the lowest scoring average for the Hillcats in 2013-14 at 76.0.

The Rogers State men's golf team put together one of its best seasons under fifth-year head coach Lynn Blevins winning two tournaments of the nine in which it competed. The Hillcats began the fall in impressive fashion at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational played at Tascosa Golf Club in a stacked field, placing ninth. RSU posted its two best rounds of the year showing their off-season work paid immediate dividends as all three rounds came in under 300, including the second-round mark of 5-under-par 283, the third-lowest team round in school history.

Getting right back to work the next week at the San Antonio Shootout at the Canyons Course of TPC San Antonio, Hogmoen lowered his score by eight strokes in the final round carding a season-low, 2-under-par 70 pacing RSU to 11th in a challenging 15-team event.

All four scorers for the Hillcats shot even-par or better led by transfer Tanner Alder making his RSU debut. The junior tallied a 4-under-par 68, leading to a 2-under-par total of 214, placing 22nd overall. Freshman Ryan Roberts burst onto the collegiate scene posting a three-round total of 216 finishing even par in a tie for 28th.

After the weather forced the Hillcats to withdraw from the Crawford-Wade Invitational, they returned to the course a month later finishing 10th at the Midwestern State Invitational at the Wichita Falls Country Club. RSU posted its second-lowest round of the spring season shooting a 299 in round two with Hogmoen and Roberts combining to fire 2-over-par in the round and finishing inside the top 20 for the tournament.

Alder continued his strong play for the Hillcats at the Texoma Championship two weeks later in Kingston, Oklahoma at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort pushing RSU to fourth in a field consisting of nearly all NCAA Division II teams. The South Ogden, Utah native jumped out with a 1-over-par 73 in round one on his way to another top-five result.

Closing the spring on back-to-back weeks in Arkansas, the Hillcats put together top-five performances at the UA Fort Smith Lions Classic and the Natural State Golf Classic. Alder led RSU at Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas finishing sixth overall for his third top-10 finish of the season on his best round during the spring. The season came to an end with a pair of consistent rounds at Red Apple Inn and Country Club behind team scores of 303 and 302 tying for fourth in Heber Springs, Arkansas. It was Alder leading the Hillcats for the fourth time in nine events recording a 12th-place result.

Hagen Barmasse and Roberts turned in top-10 performances three weeks later leading RSU to its first team title of the year at the University of Arkansas-Monticello Fall Classic at The Greens at North Hills. It was the first championship in 23 events dating back to the 2011-12 season-opening Mid-America Christian Tournament. The Hillcats edged Ouachita Baptist by two strokes for the win led by Barmasse's second-place finish on rounds of 75 and 73. Roberts improved his score by four strokes in the final round moving up to eighth place firing 79 and 75.

RSU will welcome the return of its top four golfers for the 201415 season where it has a chance to compete for the Heartland Conference championship as all four ended the year with a scoring average of 77 or better.

ABOUT THE HEARTLAND CONFERENCE The Heartland Conference is an NCAA Division II conference, founded in 1999, that currently consists of 11 schools, six from Texas, three from Oklahoma, and one each from Arkansas and Kansas. The schools comprising the Heartland Conference stretch from as far north as Wichita, Kan., as far east as Fort Smith, Ark., as far south as Laredo, Texas, and as far west as Goodwell, Okla.. The Conference stretches over a distance of 1,050 miles north to south and 610 east to west. The schools that are in the Heartland Conference include founding members St. Edward's University (Austin, Texas), and St. Mary’s University (San Antonio, Texas), and expansion members Dallas Baptist University (Dallas, Texas) in 2002 and again in 2004, Oklahoma Panhandle State University (Goodwell, Oklahoma) in 2002, and Newman University (Wichita, Kansas), Texas A&M International University (Laredo, Texas) and The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (Odessa, Texas) in 2006, the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (2009), and Oklahoma Christian University in 2012, and Rogers State and Lubbock Christian in 2013. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are national championships in baseball, golf, swimming, basketball, softball, and nationally ranked teams in all sports. The strength of the student-athlete concept is well supported by the many NCAA scholar-athletes in each school, the high cumulative GPA of the student-athletes in each school, and the high number of student-athletes who graduate from each institution in the Heartland. The Heartland Conference is the newest of the NCAA Division II conferences. At the present time, there are 24 conferences in NCAA Division II, totaling almost 300 institutions in full or provisional status across the nation. Members of NCAA Division II believe that a well-conducted intercollegiate athletics program, based on sound educational principles and practices, is a proper part of the educational mission of a university or college and that the educational welfare of the participating student-athlete is of primary concern.

43

ABOUT THE HEARTLAND CONFERENCE Members of NCAA Division II support the following principles in the belief that these objectives assist in defining the division and the possible differences between it and other divisions of the Association. This statement shall serve as a guide for the preparation of legislation by the division and for planning and implementation of programs by institutions and conferences. A member of Division II: u Believes in promoting the academic success of its student-athletes, measured in part by an institution's student-athletes graduating at least at the same rate as the institution's student body; u Believes that participation in intercollegiate athletics benefits the educational experience of its student-athletes and the entire campus community; u Believes in offering opportunities for intercollegiate athletics participation consistent with the institution's mission and philosophy; u Believes in preparing student-athletes to be good citizens, leaders and contributors in their communities; u Believes in striving for equitable participation and competitive excellence, encouraging sportsmanship and ethical conduct, enhancing diversity and developing positive societal attitudes in all of its athletics endeavors; u Believes in scheduling the majority of its athletics competition with other members of Division II, insofar as regional qualification, geographical location and traditional or conference scheduling patterns permit; u Recognizes the need to "balance" the role of the athletics program to serve both the campus (participants, student body, faculty-staff) and the general public (community, area, state); u Believes in offering opportunity for participation in intercollegiate athletics by awarding athletically related financial aid to its student-athletes; u Believes that institutional control is a fundamental principle that supports the educational mission of a Division II institution and assumes presidential involvement and commitment. All funds supporting athletics should be controlled by the institution. The emphasis for an athletics department should be to operate within an institutionally approved budget, and compliance with and self-enforcement of NCAA regulations is an expectation of membership; and u Believes that all members of Division II should commit themselves to this philosophy and to the regulations and programs of Division II.

What Is A Hillcat?

The university’s official mascot, the “Hillcat,” is a unique blue and red animal that serves as a source of campus pride and provides a visual identity for the university’s Athletic, Student Activities, and other school spirit programs. The Hillcat embodies the enthusiastic, determined and bold spirit of the university’s athletic programs and the pride our students and alumni feel for the institution.

Social Media Twitter Facebook YouTube Instagram

The “Hillcat” is a fictitious cousin of the bobcat, which is indigenous to northeast Oklahoma. The “Hillcat” also draws its name from “College Hill,” a traditional nickname for RSU. The university sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Claremore. The name “Hillcat” was conceived independently by a group of RSU students in spring 2005, and approved by the University Mascot Committee, Student Government Association, President, and Administration. The “Hillcat” was developed and officially unveiled to the campus in 2005 by RSUPR – the university’s Office of Public Relations – with the assistance of SME Branding of New York, N.Y.

Style Guidelines u In athletic media communications and publications, DO NOT use the term Lady Hillcats or Lady Cats. Hillcats, Cats, Softball Cats, etc. are acceptable. u Refer to the institution as Rogers State on first mention in news releases or other communications about sports events. The words university or college are understood in such releases, and are a commonly accepted practice within athletics.

RSU HILLCAT COMPLIANCE What are Boosters permitted to do?

Booster Education for RSU Alumni, Friends & Fans

u Notify coaches about prospects in your area

Rogers State University is responsible for the actions of its coaches, student-athletes and staff, as well as its alumni, boosters and fans. The following information is intended to help educate athletic boosters and organizations, so they can best support RSU athletes without putting the institution or the individual studentathletes at risk. If you have any questions or would like to seek clarification regarding your actions as a supporter of Hillcat athletics, please call the athletic compliance office at 918-343-7988 or email RSU's NCAA Compliance Coordinator, Eddie Jackson at ejackson@rsu.edu.

u Attend athletic contests where prospects compete, but may not contact the prospect or the prospect's relatives u Continue existing friendships with families of prospects, but not attempt to recruit u Participate with prospects in organized institutional community engagement activities when prospects reside within 100-mile radius of location (Effective 8/1/07)

Enrolled Student-Athletes

What contact can Boosters have with currently enrolled studentathletes?

Boosters

What is a booster?

A booster may not provide a student-athlete any benefit or special arrangement that would not be offered to the rest of the general student population. This would include:

You are a Booster or Representative of Athletic Interests, if you: u Have participated in, or ever have been, a member of a booster organization that supports RSU athletics;

u May not entertain student-athletes or their friends or family;

u Have made any financial contribution to the RSU athletic department or any athletic organization of the University;

u May not use the name or picture of an enrolled studentathlete to advertise, recommend, or promote any product or service;

u Have been involved in the recruitment of a prospect or have been asked to assist in the recruitment of a prospective student-athlete;

u May not provide awards or gifts to student-athletes; u May not allow a student-athlete to use a telephone to make free calls, or allow use of a free or discounted auto mobile;

u Have provided or are providing benefits to an enrolled student-athlete or his or her relatives or friends; u Have otherwise been involved in promoting the RSU athletic program;

u May not provide a student-athlete free or reduced cost goods or services;

u Have helped arrange employment for student-athletes;

NOTE: An enrolled student-athlete may be invited to a booster's home for an occasional home-cooked meal, but may not be taken to a restaurant.

u Are a parent or guardian of an enrolled student-athlete; u Are or have ever been a season-ticket holder.

Employment

NOTE: Once someone has been identified as a Booster, they will retain that identity forever.

Recruiting

A student-athlete may be employed so long as compensation is only for work actually performed, at a rate commensurate with the going rate in that locality for similar work, and the student-athlete was not hired based on athletics ability.

A prospective student-athlete is any person who has begun classes in the ninth grade. A prospective student-athlete remains so even after signing a National Letter of Intent or accepting financial aid and until they report for the first day of classes.

NOTE: Employment may be arranged for a prospect provided the employment does not begin before the completion of the prospect's senior year of high school.

What are Boosters prohibited from doing?

RSU is responsible for the actions of its boosters and booster support groups. Boosters are regulated by the same NCAA rules and regulations placed upon all institutional athletics staff members.

What is a prospective student-athlete?

Institutional Control

u Contacting a prospect in person on or off campus u Writing or telephoning a prospect or member of the prospect's family

Consequences

If a booster provides an impermissible benefit to a prospect, a student-athlete, or their relatives or friends, institutions may be subject to penalties, even if the student-athlete has completed his or her eligibility. A prospect or student-athlete who accepts an impermissible benefit faces the loss of eligibility.

u Making arrangements for the prospect or the prospect's relatives or friends to receive money or financial aid u Providing transportation for a prospect or the prospect's family or friends to visit the campus u Providing free tickets or reduced priced tickets to attend an athletic event to the prospect or the prospect's family or friends u Entertaining coaches of prospects

HILLCAT ATHLETIC FACILITIES

u The Hillcats use a trio of local courses for practice throughout the season.

Heritage Hills Golf Course Home of Hillcat Golf

Heritage Hills Golf Course is an 18-hole championship public golf course located one mile west of the Rogers State University campus. The par 71 (men)/ par 72 (women) course plays up to 6,750 yards. With a mixture of hilly and flat terrain the Donald Sechrest designed layout provides golfers with a challenging course featuring water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes. Opened on July 1, 1977, HHGC’s classical architecture gives reward to well-played golf shots with Penncross Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways, tees and surrounding areas. With a short game practice facility, practice green and driving range, Heritage Hills offers players ample area to improve their game.

Cherokee Hills Golf Club Alternate Course

Cherokee Hills Golf Club located in Catoosa, Okla. just 15 miles from campus was voted No. 4 by Golfweek in “Courses You Can Play” in the state of Oklahoma in 2011. Designed by renowned golf architect Perry Maxwell in 1924, the course was recently redesigned by Tripp Davis has proven to be one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the state. A true challenge for the most accomplished golfer, Cherokee Hills beckons golfers to traverse tree-lined fairways, dramatic elevation changes, demanding bent grass greens, natural rock outcroppings and babbling brooks. With a short game facility and driving range, the par 70, 6,635 yard course provides Hillcat golfers another challenge.

Scissortail Golf Club Alternate Course

Scissortail Golf Club located in Verdigris, Okla. just eight miles from the Rogers State campus offers a unique 18-hole course designed by Randy Heckenkemper. The par 71 course features Tift-Sport Bermuda grass fairways and tee boxes, A-1 Bent Grass greens and all white silica sand bunkers. HILLCAT ATHLETIC FACILITIES

u The Hillcat Athletics Center (left) was completed in 2012 as was the artificial turf surface on Soldier Field.

Hillcat Athletics Center

The Hillcat Athletics Center for the RSU Soccer and Cross Country teams began construction in October 2011 and was completed prior to the 2012-13 academic year. The 8,986 square-foot building is located in the north end zone of Soldier Field, adjacent to Blue Starr Drive. The facility features spacious locker rooms for the men’s and women’s soccer teams as well as the men’s and women’s cross country teams. Coaches’ offices, an athletic training room, and storage areas for athletics and intramurals are located in the central area of the building. The facility also includes permanent concessions and restrooms for patrons and a paved concourse area with sightlines to the field.

Soldier Field

Soldier Field is located in the heart of the RSU campus. The facility was originally constructed as a venue for the Oklahoma Military Academy's football games. The field has been widened and resurfaced and a new digital scoreboard has been added in the south end zone. Soldier Field also features a large press box, lights, a public address system and stadium seating for a great view of the action capable of supporting 2,000 fans. The installation of artificial turf at Soldier Field began following the 2011 RSU soccer season in November 2011 and was completed in May 2012. The artificial turf surface will allow RSU to maximize the availability and functionality of historic Soldier Field. The durability of artificial turf will permit the university to utilize Soldier Field for athletic training and competition, intramural sports, and other student activities and community events.

Bushyhead Fieldhouse

Bushyhead Fieldhouse serves as the on-campus practice facility for RSU's men's and women's basketball teams. The gym recently received a complete makeover which included refurbishing and repainting the floor, the addition of six goals, digital scoreboards and the installation of portable seating with a capacity of 300. Bushyhead is also the home of the athletic department offices as well as the RSU Wellness Center - a private weight training facility for student-athletes. Bushyhead houses both the men's and women's basketball locker rooms, an athletic training room, the Hillcat Academic Center for student-athletes and public restrooms. The Hillcats play their home games in the Claremore Expo Center, located one mile south of campus.

HILLCAT ATHLETIC FACILITIES

u The centerpiece of the Diamond Sports Complex is the two-story building, completed in 2012, positioned between the baseball and softball playing fields.

Diamond Sports Complex

The Diamond Sports Complex, home to Hillcat Baseball and Softball, sits on the northwest corner of RSU's Claremore Campus featuring a professional playing surface, large inning-by-inning scoreboard, batting cages adjacent to the home dugout, and spacious grandstand and lawn chair areas for fans. A large locker room is located behind each Hillcat dugout that includes individual lockers, coaches’ offices, an athletic training area, bathrooms, showers and a 42-inch flat screen television and DVD player. Lights were installed on the field in time for the 2008 season.The centerpiece at the Diamond Sports Complex is a 7,790 square-foot, two-story building positioned between the playing fields that began construction in late July 2011 and opened in time for the start of the 2012-13 academic year. The first floor includes concessions and restrooms for patrons as well as two dressing rooms for umpires and multiple storage areas. The second floor features separate press boxes for baseball and softball, coaches’ offices, and a donors’ suite with indoor and outdoor seating. New grandstands with stadium seating, a ticket booth, and a paved entry plaza are also included.

Claremore Expo Center

Claremore Expo Center serves as the home of Hillcat Basketball on game nights. It is also utilized as a secondary practice facility for the men's and women's basketball teams. The Expo Center features arena seating on all four sides of the court for 2,000. A four-sided digital scoreboard adorns center court accompanied by professional playing goals with three-sided shot clocks on each end of the floor. A stateof-the-art sound system helps produce a fun atmosphere for fans and often creates a hostile environment for opponents. The Expo Center is located less than a mile from the RSU campus on Highway 20 in Claremore.

RSU HILLCAT TRADITIONS

u Hunter the Hillcat was given his name in 2009 through an online voting contest.

Hillcat

Homecoming Week

The university’s official mascot, the “Hillcat,” is a unique blue and red animal that serves as a source of campus pride and provides a visual identity for the university’s Athletics, Student Activities, and other school spirit programs.

The university celebrated the first-ever Homecoming during the first week of November 2007, during the first Hillcat men’s and women’s basketball games. At RSU, Homecoming is a campus-wide tradition. A bonfire is typically held the night before the big games in the open area west of the University Village B student apartments.

The “Hillcat” embodies the enthusiastic, determined and bold spirit of the university’s athletic programs and the pride our students and alumni feel for the institution.

A campus office decoration competition is held during Homecoming Week, in which students and staff members compete to show their Hillcat pride.

It is a fictitious cousin of the bobcat, which is indigenous to northeast Oklahoma.

The Hillcat Hacker Invitational is a fun-filled golf event played amidst the hazards of Rogers State University’s scenic Claremore campus. The game features special nondestructive golf balls and is designed for pros, amateurs and hackers alike. The goal of this event is to generate camaraderie among the university’s friends and alumni, showcase RSU’s beautiful and historic campus and establish an outstanding Hillcat Homecoming tradition.

The mascot also draws its name from “College Hill,” a traditional nickname for RSU. The university sits atop a hill overlooking the city of Claremore. The name was conceived independently by a group of RSU students in spring 2005, and approved by the University Mascot Committee, Student Government Association, President, and Administration.

The Homecoming Tailgate Party, held outside of the Claremore Expo Center, is one of the most popular Homecoming events for students, alumni, and the community. For more information, visit www.rsu.edu/homecoming.

The mascot was developed and officially unveiled to the campus in 2005 by RSUPR – the university’s Office of Public Relations – with the assistance of SME Branding of New York, N.Y.

RSU HILLCAT TRADITIONS

u The Hillcat tradition of “Fear the Claw” began seven years ago and has spread throughout, the student body.

Fear the Claw

Fight Song

Not long after Hillcat men’s and women’s basketball was introduced at RSU, the home court at the Claremore Expo Center quickly gained a reputation as a formidable venue for opponents. As a member of the Hillcat team aligns himself or herself on the free throw line, the crowd at the Expo Center extends one arm skyward and makes the sign of the claw with their fists.

Hillcats of RSU Standing tall in Red and Blue We will prevail We refuse to fail Because our spirit's great We wear our colors proudly On our way to victory Go Rogers State!!!

If the shot falls successfully, arms descend in the manner of the scratch of a ferocious wild cat.

Lyrics by Yvonne Pace Music by Clarence Woods/arr. Weller

As members of an opposing team prepare to shoot a free throw, the rowdy RSU student section has been known to intimidate the shooter. Depending on the shooter’s fortitude, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t!

Alma Mater

Rise above the Claremore valley Camelot to view, Stands our gracious alma mater Thrusting t’ward the blue. Lift the chorus, speed it onward For the Red and Blue, Hail to thee our alma mater Hail to R-S-U!
