Part 1 Poems and Long Stories
Introduction Part 1 I dedicate this section to my complicated and thoughtful personality. Whether I want to write four pages of a full length story or three stanzas of a poem, all of my writing has a deeper meaning than the surface alone. Some of my poems may not make sense to the reader, but they make perfect sense to me as the author. I do care about other people’s opinions, but when they are directed towards me I tune out of the conversation. This part of my anthology is important in understanding my personality as a whole and it shows my feelings and creativity so it is vital to “getting” me.
Cruise Crash In 1995 the twin sisters Ava and Adina Troney and their family went on a cruise for Ava and Adina’s fifteenth birthday. When the cruise ship hit a coral reef, a giant hole was ripped through the starboard side of the ship. As the massive ship sank to the depths of the sea, Ava and Adina devised a plan on how to escape with their young lives. They decided they would have to take the only lifeboat that wasn’t broken. Everyone else had already perished in the fire caused by flaming wood rolling into the drapes of a room on the second floor. As Ava and Adina floated in their boat they mourned for their dead family and new friends who were lost to the crashing waves. Slowly the sisters washed ashore of Pico Island. They survived by eating the abundance of coconuts and they caught fish with straightening irons that they found washed up upon the beach. They lived this way until Adina contracted West Nile disease from the swarming mosquitos on the island. She succumbed to it in a matter of days. Ava survived for six more years on the island until a fellow Icelandic fisherman rolled in on the surf. He was infected with tuberculosis which he passed on to Ava. She died a month later. But he lived to tell the story in a message he put in a bottle, once the bottle washed ashore the coast of Spain they immediately sent out a search party to Pico Island only to find no evidence of any inhabitants on the island.
Christmas Night Christmas trees and cookie dreams Dreams of pie and snow falling through the sky. Sky high Santa with presents galore. Or coal for the bad little children. Christmas lights shine so bright Bright vanquishes the dark night. Night is when Santa comes Comes with tons of fun!
Fire and Ice Snow falls like ripped up pieces paper A frozen confetti. But ashes are mixed in with the snow today. Fire and ice in an eternal battle.
Tornado Swirling and twirling, Whirling and curling. Dreams and screams, and heavy things. Kings of Queens of thunder and lightning, Twisters aren’t listeners, they don’t hear your pleads They’ll take your life and in return They hope your eternal peace will suffice.
Come At Me Bro Broken heart Beating fast, hurting slow Torn up inside, but can I take some more. Come at me bro?
Part 2 Beliefs, Fears, and Interests
Intro Part 2 This section of my anthology is a compiled version of some of my fears, interests, ideas, and beliefs. It tells about my opinions about subjects in today’s society and about my ideas on said subjects. Everyone has an opinion and each is unique. The same can be said for people’s personality, interests, and fears. Most opinions and ideas are biased by friends, social media, religions, and other outside sources, but that has to be expected of people who in this modern age are extremely social.
Fear- Forget Everything and RUN!! BRING!! BRING!! Goes the high school bell. It can relieve some, while burden others with terror. The bell can symbolize the end of a boring lecture or the beginning of another. High school is to be feared, but also respected. Those who don’t rise to the occasion of responsibility will be crushed by deadlines and due dates. Maturity is required in life, but in high school immaturity is common. Maturity shouldn’t be biased on age, but on response to responsibility. All of the expectation of high responsibility brings out something in everyone, whether it is fear or the child in others. Either way high school is the turning point in life. It determines if you will be an adult in college or a young hoodlum stuck in their parent’s basement until they are thirty-five.
Following the Rules Rules are meant to keep you safe and out of trouble. Contrary to popular belief of teenage boys, rules aren’t made to be broken. If rules weren’t in place like in past times, men would begin to get the upper hand. And me being a girl, I wouldn’t be able to get an education or participate in the activities of today. As many rules as there are out there you’d think everyone would be safe. Of course that is more of a wish than the truth. There will always be the occasional rule breaker and they will be met by the consequences of their rebellion. But if you follow the rules you just might stay safe(ish). Old Age Everyone has the fear of college, a job, or a family of your own. Fears of growing old are most common. Gray hairs, baggy wrinkles, and aching joints are to be expected, not avoided. Old age is just another human phase. Just like the “no” phase as a child. You should be thankful that you lived to experience old age when you get there. Youth doesn’t last forever, but neither does the elderly stage, so enjoy life while you can.
My Favorite Book I think the Hunger Games books and movies appeal to me because I hate slow moving novels. I prefer the books that come out front with the problem instead of easing in with a problem that leaves you hanging at the end of the book. Historical novels always seem boring to me so I like futuristic books. Creativity is endless when it comes to what hasn’t happened yet. Full blown romance books are boring too. Slight romance that’s rolled up with the suspense and action is ok, but when the book orbits around love it gets a little overwhelming. The protagonist in the Hunger Games trilogy is obviously Katniss who creates a heartfelt story about a poor girl living in a government controlled country trying to survive the Capitol entertaining, barbaric game of death.
Biased Decision Jurors’ in today’s society try to be unbiased and not let their personal feelings and opinions get in the way. Sadly that usually doesn’t happen though. Human instincts tell us to be prejudice and judgmental of everything and everyone, so that makes important decision making difficult. I don’t think it is possible for a person’s to put aside emotions when in court. Unbiased opinions just don’t exist. Humans just can’t help themselves when faced with a trial that pulls at their heartstrings. They jump onto the biased bandwagon when their feelings come into play in the decision making process. Rarely will a jury member, or any person for that matter, to be completely objective to any situation.
Part 3 Humor
Intro Part 3 This group of written works is dedicated to my crazy and comical side. I get my humor from my dad (sense of humor is hereditary you know!). In such a broken and stressful world it’s good to laugh it all off. Almost everything can be made into something funny, but it takes creativity and a bit of randomness. Laughing cure sorrow better than any medicine can.
Rambo (The Untold Story) I didn’t know exactly where the train was going. After paying my fare, I simply stood on the platform waiting for the it to whisk me away to somewhere but here. And that’s when it happened, a guy with a gun came out of nowhere! He must’ve had a mental disability because he kept screaming “Give me back my taco!!!” into the crowd. Then from behind a trash can a man walks out holding a taco in one hand and a knife in the other. Strapped across his chest were Taco Bell hot sauce packets making him look like a Taco Bell commercial Rambo. They battled and they both split the taco and they lived happily ever after.
My Morning Routine I have to use time management skills everyday (sometimes not successfully). My morning routine isn’t very strict, but there is still a mechanicalism to it. First I have to roll out of bed before 6:20 and be dressed 6:40. If I feel spunky I might put on makeup but that chore is usually saved for the bus.(I have christened the seats with a fair share of foundation and mascara since school has started). Then I brush my teeth as the clock hits 7:00. And brushing my hair as we walk out the door (if I brush my hair as we walk out the door we’re usually late). Then we climb on the bus at around 7:05 if we were lucky enough to catch it.
The Tale of Gabe and Nefertxtme Gabe was just an ordinary Grecian citizen until the fateful day when he met Nefertxtme in the woods while hunting. As he walked through the forest he saw a beautiful woman drinking from a clean spring. She looked up as he approached and smiled. He said, “I’m Gabe, what’s your name?” “Nefertxtme,” she replied, but Gabe heard her wrong and thought she had said ‘Nevertxtme’. “Nevertxtme? That’s a funny name!” he said. The woman became infuriated and pointed a perfectly manicure finger at him and roared, “YOU FOOL!!! I am the Greek goddess of texting! You have insulted my name and you shall be cursed for life with speaking like a text message for the rest of your life!!” and with a flash she disappeared from the little stream. Gabe finished his hunting trip without running into anymore Greek goddesses throughout the trees. But when he returned home to his wife, Jessica he started feeling peculiar. His head felt hollow and his tongue was numb. He blamed it on allergies from his hunting trip and went to bed. The next day he awoke to his wife shaking his shoulders. He meant to ask her “What’s wrong?” but his voice was messed up all he said was “Wats wrng?” His wife replied, “You need to go to the hospital! You were talking in your sleep and you sounded weird! You still do!!!” Then Gabe remembered his encounter with the goddess in the forest. “O no!” he said finally realizing his curse wasn’t some sick
joke. He really was cursed!! And much like the myth of Echo and Narcissus, his voice was cursed forever.
An Adventure In ‘Iceland’ Once upon a time there was a frozen taco who was different than every other taco in the freezer he called Iceland. The different taco’s name was Supreme, or Sup for short. From birth his family knew he was different. First of all his skin was soft while his parents’ skin was like sandpaper. He also had lettuce, tomato, refried beans, and sour cream, but his mom and dad only had lettuce and tomato. When Sup turned fifteen days old he decided that he didn’t like taco girls so he started dating on of the eggroll girls down the street. He then got his eyebrow pierced and got a tattoo of a burrito on his tortilla. His parents got angry with him for his reckless behavior and sent him to a military camp where he met Fro Yo and T.V Dinna. They whipped him into shape and he didn’t ever cause problems ever again.
