MORE THAN THE BUFFALO
By Mr WERNER SWANEPOEL, President 2022-2023, Southern Africa
Round Table Southern Africa (RTSA) bubbles with wonderful, culturally diverse people. A colourful array of different foods, religions, beliefs and traditions are blended together to make up the amazing two countries that is RTSA
DUE TO THE NATURE of our countries, there is massive need and huge disparities, compelling us to ensure we drive impactful change in our communities. To get up and be counted for, to change the lives of countless
South African and Namibian residents.
This brings us to our biggest assets and the invaluable part of us. The people - ALL the people - are just great. They shine the brightest they make our countries the best in the world. Nowhere will you experience warm hearts and loving homes like you will fi nd in RTSA. Hugs, high fi ves, great food, cold beverages, warm beds, amazing vibes and superlative settings.
Only once you have been to a South African/
Namibian braai, the beach in December, the bustling cities zig-zagged by taxis, a game park and met our vibrant inhabitants can you understand. Where else in the world can you go from Oceans and Mountains, through beautiful vineyards and into the arid desert, from the open bushveld to tropical forest. Where else can you fi nd such a diversity of people that 11 offi cial languages are required.
But none of this matters if it doesn't feel like home, and that's why I love SA. It is home. This is the home of ubuntu. For those of you who don't know, it basically means a spirit of community and sharing and kindness.
Here's to the glorious South African/Namibian sunsets and the great blue African skies. Here's to the rich wildlife and the friendly, happy people. Here’s to melktert and koeksusters, mampoer, bobotie, sosaties, amasi, isidudu, chutney and bunny chow, vetkoek and malva pudding.
Come visit us in Sunny Africa and experience RTSA, more than just the Buffalo club.
