I really want my designs to be in the context of contemporary high-end high street fashion. I see my future prac?ce being applied to this par?cular market therefore I think working towards this now is a good place to start now. As the fabric I’m going to be prin?ng on to is an untreated thick denim I’ve been looking at contemporary denim fashion products that are minimalist enough for the designs to be applied to, however s?ll have a design detail or quirk that could make them real statement pieces. I want my designs to really say something and be a piece of clothing that’s not throw away quick fashion, therefore applying it to key wardrobe pieces is a good course of ac?on.
B A G S & A C C E S S O R I E S:
Again if I’m thinking in terms of statement pieces, bags and luggage are something that everyone has and is always on show. This goes the same for shoes. I understand that clarks shoes have worked in collabora?on with other brands and designers more recently with their originals line. This could be a really nice and realis?c applica?on for my designs.
B E A C H W E A R:
The fact that my concept is so heavily inspired by sea life, I think it’ll be really good to apply my designs to products that are worn by people that are in that environment and care about the sea. Therefore applying it to swimwear and cover-ups will allow the concept to really be put into a suitable context. This also involves the use of bags and luggage as it relates to people travelling, on holidays and day trips surďŹ ng/ to the beach etc. It will really bring my design to home and get people talking about the theme which is what I really want my outcomes to do.
