From Saturday 29 June (until Saturday 7 September) Art! What’s it all about?

Tuesday 2 July – Sunday 14 July Rotary Clubs of Rugby: Young Artist Exhibition and Competition

The Rugby Collection is a renowned collection of 20th century and Contemporary British Art. This summer the Rugby Collection will focus on a back to basics look at art and what it means to the average person on the street. Focussing on colour, texture, light, shape, pattern and line the exhibition will explore these themes through discovery and play.

The competition and exhibition showcases the terrific amount of talent the pupils from Rugby schools have to offer. There will be professional judges but you will also be able to vote for your favourite piece of artwork. By visiting and voting you will be encouraging the young people to continue showing us their artistic talents in the future. Rotary, the partner schools and St Andrew’s Church look forward to welcoming you.

Each of the pubs included in this trail have their own unique characteristics but have one thing in common - they sell Cask Ale. This great British product that is unfiltered and unpasteurised beer, conditioned (including secondary fermentation) and served from a cask without additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure.

As we approach 50 years since the first moon landing, our brand new duet Gravity combines hand-to-hand acrobatics with Motionhouse’s signature contact choreography. Using breath-taking balances and extraordinary trust, Gravity sees two white-clad performers in an evocative exploration of weightlessness and zero gravity. An overwhelming sense of isolation underlies the precise, haunting choreography. “Motionhouse have raised the bar for outdoor presentation of contemporary dance” Angus MacKechnie, Producer | Watch This Space Festival, National Theatre

Gravity by Motionhouse & Gibbon by Gandini Juggling

Gibbon is a surreal and charming feast of juggling choreography, with a sense of humour and a hint of absurdity. Achieving success while masking failure, a narrative is formed as the action cuts between the creation and the execution of hypnotic patterns and juggling movement sequences. “Seriously interesting and wryly amusing” The Guardian Venue: Rugby School Time: 6pm Cost: £10 Booking: www.thefestivalontheclose.co.uk Audience: ALL

17 My Kind of Michael With eleven years as an Edinburgh Festival must-see phenomenon, a critically acclaimed West End run and an Olivier Award to their name, The Showstoppers transform audience suggestions - for setting, musical styles, show title and more - into all-singing, all-dancing productions with hilarious results. Come watch an entirely different show every single night! High drama, superb lyrics, dazzling dance routines and catchy melodies – it’s just entirely made up on the spot!

Nick Cassenbaum returns to Macready Theatre following his international hit show Bubble Schmeisis (“generous and poignant” - The Stage). This time he has created a passionate and playful tribute to his childhood hero, Michael Barrymore. Ever since he was a kid, Nick has loved Michael Barrymore. In this heartfelt tribute, Nick invites you to experience the turbulent love affair between entertainer and audience. Nick uses his critically-acclaimed storytelling style and Barrymore’s iconic shticks, to weave his own story with Barrymore’s dramatic rise and fall. With live music and gags aplenty, it promises to be ‘Alwight!’ Created with Danny Braverman.

Oysters – A Moving Comedy about Johannes Brahms OYSTERS is a dark comedy shining a powerful spotlight on composer Johannes Brahms, at the party celebrating the first performance of his Violin Concerto. While observing his wit, his genius, his cruelty, his tenderness and his descent into self-destructive inebriation; treating friends and associates with all the tenderness of a wrecking ball, we are propelled into a seething cauldron of passionate recriminations and hilarious outcomes. As the evening progresses and emotions turn on a sixpence, the play moves to its extraordinary conclusion fuelled by turbulent emotion and farcical misunderstandings.

Folk Art Workshop with Beccy Roberts Folk Art is more popular than its ever been - heritage crafts are very much in vogue and heritage decoration is now very much sought after! During this workshop we will be focusing on the art of the canals - namely Roses & Castles. Using the correct tools for the job - a mahl stick, special folk art paint brush and enamel paints and following lots of slow demonstrations - we will learn the basic strokes you need to master simple flowers and leaves ... and there will be plenty of time to practice and play - still the best way to learn! During the afternoon we will each decorate our own plate and mug to take home and show off to the family.
