EDUtech ASIA
Some of you readers might know about Edu Tech but, if you don’t, here’s the summary about it : Edu tech Asia is a competition set in Singapore. This year the theme is, “ how can we use technology to help save the environment?” With the Eco-Team already doing that, we had one problem : the use of technology we were using wasn’t very effective, which is why we teamed up with the Tech Team to enter the competition. Meet Eco Ellie, the new eco mascot !
Recently, the Eco-Team has been busy with deliveries and an up and coming system related to the Eco-Team. This new system is planning to make deliveries faster and more convenient for both teachers and students; it is also related to a competition that the Tech and Eco team are participating in. While doing this, we found Eco Ellie to be to projects mascot as well as the Eco-Teams
What is EcoMe ? : EcoMe is a project that the Tech and Eco-Team have been working on for a while now There are five main members of this team working on presenting at edu tech : Katie, Yuki, Olivia, Ami and Jaja. This project’s goal is to make eco deliveries more convenient for both teachers and students Instead of having to email the Eco-Team for materials, we are planning to make an app that does that. The app shows the items available in the eco cupboard You can order the materials you need on the app, and enter your classrooms location ( kind of like Shoppee or Lazada ). With this project, we have passed the selecting rounds of Edu tech ( our school’s team is going to singapore !!! ) You can support our team on YouTube

Introduction
Hello and happy Halloween to everybody. Today, I will be taking you through some very weird and unusual sports, giving a brief overview. These sports have different aspects of play ,from changing the sport completely or combining different sports to make one. I will be taking you through five different weird and unusual sports across the globe.
CHESSBOXING IS A SPORT WHICH COMBINES THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ASPECTS OF COMPETITION. CHESSBOXING IS WHEN THE TWO OPPOSING COMPETITORS ALTERNATE ROUNDS OF BLITZ CHESS AND BOXING AND THE OVERALL SCORE IS DECIDED BY WHO WINS MORE ROUNDS. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU WIN THE FIRST CHESS ROUND THEN YOU RECEIVE ONE POINT. IF YOUR COMPETITOR WINS THE NEXT THREE ROUNDS, THEY EARN THREE POINTS AND TAKE THE VICTORY. TO WIN, YOU MUST BE MORE THAN TWO POINTS AHEAD OF THE COMPETITOR. THERE ARE A MINIMUM OF FOUR CHESS AND FOUR BOXING ROUNDS. THERE IS A TIME PENALTY SO THAT IS ALSO ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN LOSE A POINT.
SIMILAR TO SWIMMING, BOG SNORKLING IS A MORE HARDCORE VERSION. ORIGINATING IN THE UK, BOG SNORKLING’S OBJECTIVE IS TO SWIM TWO CONSECUTIVE 60 YARD OR 55M LENGTHS IN A BOG, AND WHOEVER GETS THE FASTEST TIME WINS. TO ENABLE THE DELICATE BALANCE OF FUN AND SAFETY, ORGANISERS CREATED A RULE WHERE THE BOG IS DEEP ENOUGH WITHOUT SHARP ROCKS AND OBJECTS LIIKE GARBAGE. ALSO, TO ENSURE FURTHER SAFETY, WASHING STATIONS AT THE FINISH LINES ARE REQUIRED DUE TO THE FACT THAT LEECHES AND NASTY CREATURES CAN BE WASHED OFF BEFORE ENTERING THE BODY.
YOU’VE PROBABLY HEARD OF FOOTBALL, HANDBALL AND WATERPOLO, BUT HAVE YOU HEARD OF CYCLEBALL? CYCLEBALL IS A SPORT WITH THE SAME OBJECTIVES AS THOSE SPORTS. THE ONLY DIFFERENT RULE IS TO BE ON THE BICYCLE AT ALL TIMES DURING THE TWO HALVES OF THE GAME.
SHIN-KICKING IS A SPORT WHERE TWO MEN HOLD ONTO EACH OTHER’S SHOULDERS AND TRY TO KICK EACH OTHER’S SHIN A SHIN KICK IS WORTH THREE POINTS, A DODGE IS WORTH TWO POINTS AND A TRIP IS WORTH ONE POINT THIS GAME WAS INVENTED WHEN TWO FRIENDS IN 1879 WERE BORED AND FOUND SOMETHING TO ENTERTAIN THEMSELVES
PaulHURLING IS A SPORT IN IRELAND COMBINING HANDBALL AND HOCKEY THE OBJECTIVE OF THE GAME IS FOR PLAYERS TO USE AN ASH WOOD STICK CALLED A HURLEY TO HIT A SMALL BALL CALLED A SLIOTAR BETWEEN THE OPPONENT'S GOALPOSTS, EITHER OVER THE CROSSBAR FOR ONE POINT OR UNDER THE CROSSBAR INTO A NET GUARDED BY A GOALKEEPER FOR THREE POINTS THE SLIOTAR CAN BE CAUGHT IN THE HAND AND CARRIED FOR NOT MORE THAN FOUR STEPS, STRUCK IN THE AIR OR STRUCK ON THE GROUND WITH THE HURLEY IT CAN BE KICKED, OR SLAPPED, WITH AN OPEN HAND (THE HAND PASS), FOR SHORTRANGE PASSING A PLAYER WHO WANTS TO CARRY THE BALL FOR MORE THAN FOUR STEPS HAS TO BOUNCE OR BALANCE THE SLIOTAR ON THE END OF THE STICK (SOLO), AND THE BALL CAN BE HANDLED ONLY TWICE WHILE IN THE PLAYER'S POSSESSION
The Redwood Forest
The Redwood Forest is one of the world’s most majestic places. This diverse ecosystem provides habitats for thousands of species. Sadly, due to hunting during the California Gold Rush, only 5% of the forest remains. The Coast Redwood trees are the tallest trees on the world and can grow up to around 300 feet or 91 meters; the tallest Redwood ever recorded has a height of 329 feet or approximately 100 meters. Redwoods have been on earth for around 240 million years - almost as old as the dinosaur! The Redwoods also live for thousands of years and the oldest official one is 2200 years old, yet many scientists believe that there are much older ones alive. Near the roots of the Redwoods, fish like Coho Salmon reside to lay their eggs and breed. Redwood bark can be up to a feet thick and contains tannins to protect it from bugs, rot and fire, a supporting detail that helps them survive for thousands of years. Redwoods clean the air by storing carbon in their leaves and Redwoods store more carbon then any other tree. Redwoods can “drink” fog and help make it rain. Animals like the wandering salamander can live their entire life in the redwood canopy. In the crown (top of the Redwoods the endangered marbled murrelets reside and breed.
PHILOSOPHY CORNER
Exploring Hegel’s Theory of Geist: Are we all Part of a Bigger Spirit?
WhatisGeist?
In the realm of philosophy, few ideas have stirred minds as deeply as Georg Wilhelm Hegel’s concept of Geist (also knownasspirit) ForHegel,Geistwasn’tjustsomethinginside eachpersonbutakindof“sharedspirit”thatconnectsusall, shaping our ideas, culture and the way we understand the world.
TheSoulandtheBody
OnewaytounderstandGeististothinkofthebodyasakind ofmachine FollowingideasfromthephilosopherDescartes, we could say that the body is like the physical “hardware,” and Geist is like the “software” that makes it come alive. But when a person dies, their Geist (or soul) doesn’t just disappear. Instead, it’s released and, in a way, can become partofanewlife, movingontoanewbody
HowDoesGeistCreateNewLife?
One fascinating idea is that when a new life begins, like during reproduction, the mother’s body somehow attracts Geist to it. Think of it like a chemical reaction, with Geist comingtofillthenewbody.Inthisway, eachhumanlifeisn’t justaphysicalevent;it’salsothemeetingofbodyandsoul
TheEvolutionofGeist
Hegel’s idea of Geist goes beyond individual people. As humans grow, learn, and make discoveries, Geist is also changing and evolving. So, in a way, the whole human race is connected by this shared spirit, with each generation addingtoGeist’sunderstandingofitselfandtheworld
WhatDoesThisMean?
Hegel’s theory of Geist makes us think about what it means to be human. Are we all part of something bigger than ourselves?Doourlivesandchoicesmatterinalargersense?
For Hegel, the answer was “yes” each of us is a part of this grand journey that is Geist, and every new insight we gain addstotheworld’ssharedspirit

REMINDER:
Now, let me share a fascinating theory I believe in regarding Geist! What if, when we die, our Geist doesn’t simply float away into nothingness? Instead, consider this: when a woman becomes pregnant, her body releases a unique chemical that acts like a magnet, attracting a Geist—an independentsoulthatisreadytoinhabitanewbody.
In this scenario, every time a new life is created, it’s not just a random event; it’s the result of Geist responding to the energy emitted by the mother Each Geist is drawn to the potential of a new life, readytoexperiencetheworldanew.Thismeansthateverychildborncarrieswithinthemaunique Geist, onethatisattractedtotheopportunityfornewexperiences, learning, andgrowth.
Moreover, consider the nature of energy itself. According to the law of conservation of energy, energycannotbecreatedordestroyed;itcanonlychangeforms WhatifweviewedGeistasaform ofenergy?ThiscouldimplythattheGeistofthosewhohavepassedondoesnotceasetoexistbut rathertransformsandremainsintheworldaroundus, awaitingtherightconditionstotakeonnew life.
In this view, every living being is a vessel for Geist, each embodying a piece of the larger cosmic puzzle. When we think about our energy and presence in the world, it could be a reflection of the countlessGeistthathavecomebeforeus EachtimeaGeistinhabitsanewbody, itbringswithitthe accumulatedwisdomandexperiencesofallthelivesithasencountered, creatingarichtapestryof knowledgewithinthenewindividual
This theory also encourages us to think about our connections with one another. If all Geist are interconnectedthroughthissharedenergy, itsuggeststhatourrelationshipsandinteractionshave a profound significance. We are not merely isolated individuals; we are part of a vast network of souls, eachinfluencingandenrichingoneanotherthroughoursharedexperiences.
Ultimately, this perspective on Geist compels us to rethink our understanding of life, death, and existence itself. Rather than seeing life as a series of isolated events, we might view it as a continuous journey of growth and evolution, where each new life represents a new opportunity for Geisttoexplore, learn, andcontributetothecollectiveexperienceofhumanity.
