Builder-owner: As a child Moritz Munk always wanted to be a hippie. Smoking a joint, chilling out with friends, playing guitar all day long, just being free... Pleasant dreams! Now he is a successful businessman, living in Berlin Mitte. A stressful life, especially when you are the owner of many restaurants. With a great number of marriages, he created a big family. Well‌ with a lot of kids. At least he loves this part. A House for Moritz Moritz wants to build his house in Berlin Mitte, MulackstraĂ&#x;e, a fashionable and wealthy neighbourhood in the city centre. At least at home, he wants to fulfil his dream in former times: Being a hippie.

Concept Creating a fluent atmosphere, a conventional house divided in storeys is not in case. The height of the storeys are half the size of the usual ones and they are not ‚closed‘. By fitting the floors into each other, many playful niches are created. Furniture and architecture are combined in one element. The functions are slightly separated horizontally. Different ways of communication is allowed.

Parasite Residence Bridge Rui Xu, 2nd semester, 2010 summer, Studio Sobejano, UdK
The Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex is a large former industrial site in the city of Essen, Germany. It has been inscribed into the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites since December 14th, 2001 and is one of the anchor points of the European Route of Industrial Heritage. The first coal mine on the premises was founded in 1847, mining activities took place from 1851 until December 23rd, 1986. After losing its economical importance the complex was restored and changed into: museum, amusement park, cultural centre etc. Nowadays The Zollverein is an important tourist attraction.
The conveyor bridge in the north part of the coking plant area is linking a machine hall and a conveying system building. The bridge is 120m long and has a gradient of 9 degrees. The interior is 3m high and 5m wide. My proposal is to change the conveyor bridge into a student residence hall to accommodate the students in Zollverein School of Management and Design. The university, a concrete cube designed by Sanaa, is located in the neighbour area. Concept: By adding parasitic frames to the bridge, extra living spaces will be realised. The horizontal roof of the frames and the sloping ground of the bridge create a communicative public area for the students.

The kitchen is public (shared by three student). In the centre and at the end of the bridge are more public livingrooms which also can be used as cafes, workroom etc.
