ALTRA’S BREAK FROM THE PACK
Unique, functional designs and new ownership are propelling Altra forward. sanders for all of our modifications. We mortgaged my dad’s house to get some samples in and then we found our angel investor. It’s been a pretty wacky, wild ride, that’s for sure,” says Beckstead. The relationship between Harper and Beckstead reaches back to when they were 15, when they met on the first day of cross-country practice during their sophomore year at Orem High School in Orem, UT. They both went on to work at Runner’s Corner, Harper’s parents’ store, for more than a decade, and the experience sparked an epiphany. “It came to a head when we were modifying shoes and all of a sudden Golden had these ideas. Some of the ideas got thrown around and we thought that maybe we should start a shoe company. We had help from some great people, got lucky on the way a little bit and have been stubbornly dogmatic, faithful and dedicated. We gutted our way through it and are excited about where we are and where we’re going,” Beckstead adds. Here, Altra’s founders speak exclusively with Running Insight about the brand’s mission, design inspiration, business strategy and growth potential.
By Judy Leand
S
ince being founded by Golden Harper and Brian Beckstead in 2010, Altra has attracted all types of runners due its distinctive core technologies: FootShape, ZeroDrop and Fit4Her. In 2011, ICON Health & Fitness acquired the thennascent brand and for the following seven years it flourished: today, Altra footwear is sold in 55 countries through more than 1600 specialty retailers, as well as online. The brand’s success and fervent following drew the attention of VF Corp., which bought Altra in June 2018 and made it a wholly owned subsidiary. Now in the integration process, Altra is expected to help fuel growth as part of VF’s Outdoor & Action Sports Coalition, which contributed nearly 66.2 percent to the company’s total revenues in Q1 2018. Although financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, industry experts peg Altra’s annual revenues at $50 million. Beckstead, Altra’s president, and Harper, who serves as the brand’s VP– brand and consumer experience, are delighted at how quickly Altra has taken hold in the running world, becoming a top-selling brand in the run specialty space. “Seven-and-a-half years ago, Golden and I were in our 20s in our basement with no money. We were using toaster ovens, band saws and belt 60

worse over the years and the same goes for foot problems. I found [the Latin word] Altera, which means to mend or fix that which is broken. That was our first name (until we got sued by the Altera software company), so we changed our name to Altra. Brian and I were running ultra marathons at the time and I altered our first shoes in a toaster oven. And so alter, ultra, alternative all mash together to be Altra, but it all came from the root word Altera. 62
runninginsight.com
What sets Altra apart? Brian Beckstead: Our goal has always been to produce the best, most innovative, most scientific-based, forward-thinking and healthy footwear on the market. It’s about being disruptive and different and not being afraid to try new things. What was the concept behind your first shoes, and how has it developed? Harper: There are two major issues. One is that foot problems are at an all-time high, with three out of every
four Americans reporting foot pain every year. Second is that [the number of] running injuries has become progressively higher every decade, despite all the cushioning technologies available. When reality set in that all of this technology hadn’t actually made running injuries get better, I did a lot more research and found that 80-plus percent of runners over-stride. There’s a big connection between overstriding and injuries. Altra has a FootShape design and a ZeroDrop. The ZeroDrop originated with me putting a pair of shoes in the toaster oven to make the cushioning level from heel to forefoot, which allowed runners to not over-stride. Traditional running shoes are always twice as thick and twice as heavy in the heel as in the forefoot, so they essentially force people to run incorrectly. I wanted to sell shoes that didn’t force people to run and walk unnaturally. An extension of that is while your foot is spread out the way it’s actually supposed to, it stabilizes itself and that was part of the inspiration behind what we call the FootShape toe box. At the end of the day, the inspiration was that people were running poorly because of their shoes, injuries were at an all-time high, and shoe technologies hadn’t fixed it. Who are Altra’s target consumers? Beckstead: [Our consumers are] people who want to lead a healthy, athletic life.
Alter, ultra and alternative all mash together to be Altra, but it all comes from the root word ‘Altera.’ We make products from a performance-oriented position, but mostly it comes from a health-based situation — people who are looking for something that is different, healthy and that is differentiated from the rest of the market but also works for all forms of athletic pursuits. Our focus and core is running, but we make gym shoes, hiking shoes, crosscountry racing shoes, ultra marathon shoes and lifestyle shoes. Demographically, our sales have been a little more male-centric. We’re trying to find ways to tap into the female market and we are starting to see those numbers shift in our sales to more female consumers. Now that Altra is part of VF Corp., how will the brand be positioned? Beckstead: For a conglomerate, VF does as good a job – if not better – than anybody else of sharing their size with their back-end functions while letting the brands act independently and allowing each to have its own identity, focus, marketing and priorities. That’s something we’re really excited about. Right now, we’re concentrating on integrating © 2018 Diversified Communications

all of our warehousing and back-end functions, and we’ll be able to more fully discuss the other aspects of the business under VF later.
What are your growth targets? Beckstead: Our main focus is to continue the pathway of sustained, consistent growth. We have no intention of spiking up in a trend-type manner. We are all about growing the brand consistently and sustainably under a fantastic foundation, so I don’t think our goals are that different short-term than long-term. Obviously, the short-term goal is to tap into the VF platform and to get fully integrated into VF. What is Altra’s distribution strategy? Beckstead: Our focus is and will continue to be on high-end, full-service retail. With our technology, innovation and differentiation, there is an element of specialty involved that really needs to 64

be communicated to the consumer, so our distribution strategy is to stick to focusing on specialty in both run and outdoor. We also want [to be present in] a lot of health-based comfort, casual and podiatric-type retail stores that have a level of education that matches our standards, which are very high for the industry. Full-line sporting goods is off the table. If a retailer can’t provide a full-service experience to our consumer, then we’re just not going to go there.
How does the Internet impact your dealer relationships? Beckstead: We take it quite seriously. We have overhauled our Amazon programs, are cracking down on who can sell on Amazon and we do not sell directly to Amazon. We are very keen on keeping a high-profile image in terms of price as well as the level of education provided. We really value the expertise and the complete storytelling ability of retail and to replicate that online is
unless someone can get close, we’ll be very limited in those arenas. What are Altra’s international distribution plans? Beckstead: International is a massive focus of ours and is the fastest-growing portion of our business. Europe, specifically, is skyrocketing for us. We’re having [an organizational] reshuffling right now in Europe and will be making that market a big focus over the next three to five years. At present, Scandinavia has been fantastic, particularly Norway and Sweden. Japan is also a standout country. What percentage of Altra’s overall business does each product category represent, and do you expect the balance to shift over the next couple of years? Beckstead: Our focus is on road running and outdoor. Road running is currently 53 percent of our business, trail running is 42 percent, and then gym, fitness and casual are rolled into the remainder. Our road running category will be a continued focus, but with the introduc-
tion of some outdoor hiking products, we expect our outdoor category – which is no longer just pure trail running shoes – to grow as well. Our casual business continues to do surprisingly well because of our ZeroDrop, FootShape, gender-specific shoes; how many around-town shoes are built like that? This past year, the fastest-growing part of our business has been our outdoor line, which is booming, spearheaded by our trail running product. How have footwear trends, construction advances and new materials impacted the design process? Harper: We’re always looking for cutting-edge materials, technologies and constructions, but on the trend side I would say there has been very little [impact]. When we launched our first shoes, everybody said, ‘What’s with the barefoot shoes with cushioning?’ We had well-cushioned shoes that were ZeroDrop and FootShape, so people wanted to throw them in with minimal shoes, but they weren’t really minimal at all. And then outside of Hoka, we were the first brand to do maximal shoes. We didn’t do it because there was a trend — the maximal trend hadn’t hit yet. We did it because we had so many athletes running 100-mile races and in these races your feet are the first thing to go. If you know anything about cushioning, you know that it’s bad for your joints but good for your feet when you’re over-stressing them, so a lot of cushioning makes sense for a 100-mile © 2018 Diversified Communications

Altra’s Break (continued) race. My goal is to build something that people don’t even know they need yet, and that’s what we’ve done repeatedly over the years. We don’t put as much of a premium on cushioning technology. If you look at the whole running shoe industry, the main marketing message has been, ‘Our cool new cushioning technology will save your knees.’ And frankly, that’s absolute scientific bull crap. Every scientist in history will tell you that
ics. It’s a constant struggle to make sure that we don’t compromise the biomechanics or the injury-free features of the shoe to make it look good. Every bit of chronic foot pain that 73 percent of Americans report every year is caused by elevated heels and tapered toe boxes. People buy what is good-looking even when they know they should buy something that is functional. We have a saying: ‘Pretty shoes make ugly feet,’ and it’s absolutely true.
Brian Beckstead (far left) stands next to Golden Harper. The two were on the 1998 Orem High School cross-country team.
cushioning technology has never done anything to help peoples’ knees in any way, shape or form. However, it’s still something we look at because we’re trying to get a cushioning technology that is protective to the feet and also feels good when you put the shoe on. What are the most challenging aspects of designing Altra footwear? Harper: Holding true to putting biomechanics and injury-free ahead of aesthet66
runninginsight.com
Some consumers want versatile, multi-sport shoes, while others demand activity-specific footwear. How do you address these divergent needs in your designs? Harper: We do both of those things. We make some very specific shoes. For example, we have a trail running shoe built specifically for wet, sloppy, loose ground, so it’s great for Spartan races and running in the mud, but this isn’t a very broad category. At the same time, we try
to build most of our shoes in a way that is great for human movement, meaning our running shoes are also great for walking. We don’t really specify our trail shoes between trail running and trail hiking; they’re all the same thing. We have a shoe called the Lone Peak and it’s the best-selling shoe on the Pacific Crest Trail and it’s also the number one-selling running shoe in the run specialty channel in America right now. How do you work with your retail partners to help tell the Altra story? Beckstead: Our tech rep program is as aggressive as almost any other brand out there. We have 16 tech reps that are doing demo runs, clinics, education seminars and events across the U.S. We want to get in front of the consumer and have people experience the product. We’re also doubling down on our POP in-store presence and it’s something that I expect to see more of over the next 12 months. How valuable are athlete and event sponsorships to the brand? Beckstead: In October we signed two-time Olympian distance runner Kara Goucher. That’s really exciting and we’re always looking at opportunities to bring on new athletes, to sponsor events and to go to trade shows. But we’re not going to be overly opportunistic there — we need to make sure that an athlete or event is the right fit and that it represents who we are and where we
want to go. We have a really aggressive social media team and we’re very grassrootsoriented – we do a lot of guerilla-style marketing with our tech reps – and we tend to go to smaller events where we have a larger presence and aren’t just a sign on a wall. We have anywhere from 10 to 15 events across the country on any given weekend and almost all of them are partnered with local retailers. How is Altra likely to continue to evolve from a design standpoint? Harper: You’ll see us remain true to our core principles. We’ll continue to emphasize our FootShape [design] and our cushioned ZeroDrop. You’ll also see a big emphasis to call out our Fit4Her female-specific function. What is Altra’s biggest challenge going forward? Beckstead: Our challenge is to manage and strategically grow the brand. There are opportunities for Altra in all sorts of directions that are exciting and fun and we just have to be disciplined and focused on who we are and what we do. Our challenges are really internal: How do we strategize, where do we go and how do we maximize and sustain that growth? I believe in Altra, I believe in what we stand for, I believe in our innovation, I believe in our growth strategies and I think that Altra is in a great place right now. In three to five years more people are going to know who Altra is and I’m excited about that. n © 2018 Diversified Communications

RUN–REPEAT W THE GREAT AMERICAN SLOWDOWN
Americans are getting slower. What might it mean for running stores? By Daniel P. Smith
hile elite athletes are pushing the once-unimaginable two-hour marathon barrier and distance-running records in the U.S. and around the globe continue to drop, American runners are nevertheless getting slower, according to a study from RunRepeat.com (https://runrepeat.com/american-runners-have-neverbeen-slower-mega-study). In the intriguing report led by former competitive runner and statistician Jens Jakob Andersen, the RunRepeat.com crew analyzed more than 34 million results from 28,732 different races and found American runners steadily getting slower across a variety of race distances. “There is a considerable rise in the average finishing time for all major races including the 5K, 10K, half-marathon and marathon,” the study concludes. Given the accelerating pace of everything in life and the overall popularity of running across the American landscape, it’s a seemingly odd discovery, especially since today’s runners have access to lighter, more responsive footwear, fitness-tracking technology designed to boost performance and greater insights on training, nutrition and wellness than ever before.
Digging Into the Data
The Copenhagen-based Andersen, whose RunRepeat.com website provides running shoe reviews, says he was inspired to launch the analysis after witnessing a number of friends participating in marathons because it was “the cool thing to do.” “Many didn’t train as hard as people did in the old day, so we decided to dig into the numbers,” Andersen says. The RunRepeat.com group noted that

times were slowing across distances, age and gender. “Even finisher number 100 is slowing down, so it’s not only the slow that are getting slower,” Andersen says. With the numbers in, Andersen and his team then tried to generate possible explanations for the phenomenon — and they explored a range of possibilities. Maybe the faster runners are shifting to obstacle-course races, ultra running or triathlons? Perhaps the most dedicated runners are simply racing less, which leaves fields crowded with weekend warrior, recreational types? “Who knows?” Andersen says. Most probable, though. is that finishing times are declining in tandem with the deteriorating state of fitness in the U.S. Andersen’s team, in fact, identified strong connections between slower finishing times and obesity, diabetes and hypertension rates as well as medical expenditures, though Andersen concedes there could be many other factors at play. As an interesting aside, Andersen says RunRepeat.com performed the same research in the United Kingdom, but did not find the same results. “There’s no trend of slowing down in the U.K. [and] no correlation between the finish times of Englishmen and obesity rates, hypertension and diabetes,” he says. What’s It Mean for Run Specialty?
For those in the run specialty channel, however, there’s another lingering and valuable question: What might the nation’s running stores take from the study? That’s a tough question, Andersen admits, as race participation is most often fueled by a diverse array of personal mo-

Run — Repeat (continued) tivations that pull one into – or away from – the sport. While some run to boost their health, others are drawn to the competitive aspect, a specific race’s cause or the socialization. Socialization has long powered store fun runs and more recently sparked stores to open taprooms or bars just steps from the shoe wall. Perhaps there’s an opportunity for running retailers to double-down on efforts that drive socialization and faceto-face connections. From team-based scavenger hunt fun runs to speed dating events, the running landscape is trending toward fun and interactive over competitive and there could be even more runway there.

The data might also hold insights regarding inventory selection, particularly given customers’ increasing appetite for fashionable running shoes. For many, function remains important, but surely not at the expense of looking good. At RunRepeat.com, Andersen notes, half of all runners pick a specific color of a shoe rather than simply the most affordable color. “People are happy to pay $20 more to get the right color,” he says. Though beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, purchasing footwear and apparel with a more fashionconscious mindset could prove more productive. “As much as I want runners to buy the best running
shoes, I cannot deny the fashionable element that has taken over running,” Andersen concedes. But with Andersen tabbing the declining health and fitness among the U.S. populace as the most likely culprit for the slower finishing times, that hints at an opportunity for run shops to create even deeper messaging around the benefits of physical fitness. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, fewer than five percent of adults participate in 30 minutes of daily physical activity. From introducing entrylevel groups or walking groups to developing youth programs and positioning their shops as fitness

allies rather than hard-core runners’ retreats, run shops could make important inroads with currently elusive shoppers and develop relationships well beyond their core base. So while Americans might be getting slower, this doesn’t foretell the collapse of the run specialty marketplace. If anything, the data can inform the movement of run shops across the U.S. and drive a brighter future. n

On’s R&D efforts are driven by Bernhard, a former elite triathlete who creatively added pods to the outsole of his Nike trainer

When that succeeded and his competitive days subsided, Bernhard began tinkering more with training shoes and contemplating an engineering-based solution to running footwear, one inspired by mountain bike suspension. That enterprising spirit coupled with Bernhard’s instincts remains core to On — and an undeniable part of its “secret sauce.” “We’re lucky that [Bernhard] has a direct nerve running from his big toe to his brain,” Allemann says of his colleague. uct,” Coppetti says. “Retailers tell us regularly that they sell several pairs to the same social networks and that’s largely because the shoes’ unique running sensation gives people something to talk about.” The Swiss brand, however, is hungry for more. In the coming months, On is set to debut two footwear models it believes will deepen its market penetration and propel its success. The first new model, slated for a February launch, is the Cloudswift, a neutral training show blending bounce and aesthetics with performance — and also sporting a $150 retail price point that reflects On’s premium positioning. The Cloudswift will be the first shoe to feature Helion, On’s proprietary foam that, according to Coppetti, offers “impressive energy return” and durability in a lightweight package. In June, meanwhile, On will release the uber-distinctive Cloudstratus. Hosting two layers of “clouds,” a first for the company, Coppetti bills the $170 Cloudstratus as “the most cushioned shoe” on the market. “With offerings like the Cloudswift and Cloudstratus, we’re really addressing the American demographic that shops at running stores and what they’re saying they want and need,” Coppetti says. The company is also tapping into the swelling trail running market with improved footwear and apparel © 2018 Diversified Communications

headlined by the second edition of the Cloudventure (released earlier this Fall) as well as the upcoming Cloudventure Peak, a performance trail shoe set to debut next summer. For a brand born in the Swiss Alps, On is particularly well positioned for success in the trail category. “And we’ve certainly invested heavily in making our trail product better,” says Coppetti, who also teases the upcoming Cloudrock Waterproof, a hiking boot that underscores On’s ability to make versatile products designed to help people move between different worlds. Committed to Run
In spite of any detours into other categories, whether it be hiking boots, apparel or

even socks – another new product On unveiled after four years of R&D – Coppetti assures that performance running remains the brand’s heart and core. “And with that,” he notes, “we remain fully committed to the run specialty channel.” In fact, Coppetti makes no bones about leadership’s desire to see On as the top running shoe brand in the specialty channel, something it aims to accomplish with a mix of cutting-edge footwear, the highest achieved margin in the run specialty marketplace and customercentric efforts that honor the channel’s retailers. “We’re not looking at [the big-box sporting goods retailers] of the world,” Coppetti says. “In the U.S.,
we have a lot of runway to grow and we’re going to do that with our partners in the channel.” To that end, the brand has rejected Amazon as a sales outlet, focused on clean distribution and worked to enforce full-price MAP policies, including placing an RFID tag in shoes to help ensure price integrity in the marketplace. When On catches wind of an unapproved vendor selling its footwear, for instance, the company will purchase the shoe, scan the RFID tag and trace its sales path. To date, Coppetti says On has closed about 40 accounts in the U.S. alone for unauthorized sales. “We want a level playing field,” Coppetti says. “To
us, running retailers are the group best positioned to inspire, motivate and educate consumers well beyond the transaction and we want to encourage consumers to go into these shops, discover products, try them on and engage with the community.” Since arriving in the U.S. six years ago, Coppetti continues, On has tried to earnestly build partnerships with running retailers by delivering a unique approach to product and a distinctive go-to-market strategy. That, he says, will not change. “We continue to talk with retailers about how we can grow our businesses together. We want to help put running retailers in a position to succeed because their success is our success.” n © 2018 Diversified Communications

Sustaining Momentum
OEM supplier OrthoLite has made a commitment to a sustainable future.
O
rthoLite is elevating its long-term commitment to the demand for more sustainable product solutions by launching two insoles featuring recycled materials. OrthoLite Hybrid is a formulation that blends five percent recycled rubber and 15 percent production waste foam for 20 percent ecocontent for uncompromised performance and comfort with less impact on the planet. Hybrid was tested extensively with Mesh 1, utilizing more than 100 runners to test the comfort and performance of the Hybrid product before it was commercialized. This was a key component of the R&D phase. A 100 percent recyclable insole, OrthoLite will be using waste foam and trimmings from product development to close the loop on its manufacturing and create a product that is fully recycled. This will be used to help major brands reach their sustainable index goals in their shoes. OrthoLite has also created a dedicated R&D facility in China for the further development and advancement of eco-friendly products and processes. n

Inspiring and Connecting Leaders Whirlaway’s Captains’ Night blends fun and games with reflection on leadership.
Captains’ Night assembles captains from local high school teams for a night of motivation, camaraderie and fun.
By Daniel P. Smith
T
hough 40 years have passed, Dave Kazanjian fondly remembers his year as captain of the Methuen High crosscountry squad. He recalls encouraging underclassmen, rooting on teammates and working to set an example for others with his own hard work and accountability. “It was more than a title for me,” Kazanjian says. Hoping to instill the same sense of responsibility in today’s generation of cross-country captains, Kazanjian hosts dozens of local team leaders each year at Whirlaway Sports’ annual Captains’ Night. The now-annual event assembles captains from high school teams around Whirlaway Sports’ Methuen, MA, location for a night of motivation, camaraderie and fun. “We want to get these kids together and, in a fun setting, get them reflecting on their role as team leaders,” he says. At the most recent installment of Captains’ Night on August 27, Whirlaway Sports’ fifth such event, Kazanjian and his staff hosted 53 captains from 15 different girls’ and boys’ high school teams 82

in New England’s Merrimack Valley. The high school captains received encouraging words from a quartet of accomplished athletes. Ruben Sanca, a 2012 Olympian, shared what captains meant to him as he progressed through his career, while former U.S. Olympian Mark Coogan moderated a Q&A session featuring his daughter, Katrina Coogan, an All-American at Georgetown, and former Princeton All-American Liz Costello. Both Katrina Coogan and Costello, current New Balance athletes, reflected on leadership roles. “One of the things we do is ask the captains to remember back to their first year on the team and the uncertainty or hesitation that time can bring,” Kazanjian says. “Now that these athletes are in the position of being leaders, it’s their responsibility to have a positive impact on others and to encourage confidence and hard work in their teammates.” Following the talks, captains enjoyed pizza and games, including a putting contest and water balloon toss. To spark connections and deeper interaction among the attendees, Kazanjian intentionally places the athletes alongside runners from different schools. While athletes received a New Bal-

ance backpack and a custom T-shirt with a captain-denoting “C” on it, Kazanjian hopes the runners left with something much more important — an understanding of their responsibility as a captain. “Any of us who have been around this sport for a while know what it’s like to be a captain or to be motivated by a captain and I’d like to keep that going,” Kazanjian says. “For me, this is personal. I’ve been around this sport for more than 40 years as an athlete, coach and store owner and this is a way for me to give back to the sport and inspire these kids to bring some added effort and perspective to their role as team captains.” n

The Arcanum Edge A Q&A discussion with Lindsey Mintz, CEO and founder of Arcanum.
T
he Arcanum Sports Performance product suite is dedicated to educated people who care about what goes into their bodies. Arcanum utilizes technology and innovation in the field of full spectrum activated hemp coupled with unique delivery mechanisms to upgrade sports performance and recovery. Here CEO Lindsey Mintz talks about the Arcanum story and what its products mean for serious runners.
Running Insight: Tell us about your personal journey — what led you to start Arcanum and tell us a little history of your evolving product line. Lindsey Mintz: Arcanum is based in Morrison, CO. Our family of athletes has been in this area since 1859. I am a former international fitness competitor, Mike is a former NFL Broncos player and Tyler played rugby for the United States. Morrison is a mecca of athletics and an outdoor enthusiasts dream. Our family’s story with cannabinoids was born after having frustrating misdiagnoses and health issues. I faced a frustrating battle with autoimmune disease and Mike battled cancer and then recovery from the disease. After extensive research of effective alternatives to traditional medicine and its side effects, we discovered full spectrum activated hemp extract with high amounts of CBD. Mary’s Nutritionals created the best products in the wellness space on the market. Following our experience, we realized that activated hemp extract is the miracle cure, with countless benefits when used as a daily supplement. We approached Mary’s with the business model for a sports-specific product suite to bring to market. Our understanding of the importance of performance time and recovery fuels our business and our goal is to help people 84

do what they love without sacrificing their internal health for their passions. What is the differentiation in CBD as opposed to Arcanum’s use of full spectrum hemp? Consumers are quickly catching on to the difference between full spectrum activated hemp extract versus the CBD isolate form. To best explain our use of Full Spectrum Hemp Extract, think of a Vitamin C tablet versus a whole orange. In activated hemp, you get over 400 plant compounds working synergistically as nature intended, rendering the cannabinoids much more bioavailable. They can therefore have a much more active effect in the body and interact with other beneficial ingredients in our suite of products. What is the benefit to runners? Athletes that can recover quickly have the edge. We live in an age where our bodies and lifestyles produce inflammation and we strive to maintain good nutrition, sleep and a training load that is manageable when we are not in the peak phase of our schedule.
Cannabinoids offset inflammation caused by the body’s nervous system in response to factors such as disease, chronic pain and stress response. The superpowers of full spectrum activated hemp support performance and recovery musts such as managing anxiety and transitioning to deep sleep. The Quill, a transdermal gel pen, has an accurate delivery method of 90 percent effectively absorbing in less than five minutes. Tell us about the impact that your suite of products will have on sales in specialty running? We support our products with a visual presentation (ie POP, signage, educational materials in print and digital), customized programs to ensure the retailer’s maximum profitability and rewards for a strong partnership and support such as sampling, staff clinics, ad campaigns, sponsorships, event visibility and athlete sponsorships. How is Arcanum different in its approach to research and partnerships? Arcanum began working closely with biochemist Dr. Jeremy Riggle to

In keeping our promise of quality and safety, every batch is third-party tested by state-certified labs, assuring an organically grown, non-GMO, paraben free, sulfate free full-spectrum activated hemp product. Our business development team stands by this high level of quality by providing education, customer service and attention to detail as we journey together in health and wellness. n
formulate our products with a team of professional athletes and trainers. The brand is unique in that we began testing with a third-party, state-certified lab enlisting our local police department. After repeated UA’s and no change being detected in the departments testing after a month’s time in using Arcanum, Dr. Riggle created a white paper. Shortly thereafter, Arcanum became the first CBD company to sponsor a professional sports team, the Glendale Raptors. Major League Rugby’s head physiotherapist Richard Quincy said his team was extremely healthy and he has never seen the lack of over-the-counter drugs used in his career thereby attributing this recovery and healthfulness to Arcanum’s full spectrum hemp products.
