Dear Resident, As autumn gets into full swing, it’s time to take a walk through one of the area’s many parks where the leaves are falling and the air is crisp. This was certainly the inspiration behind this issue’s cover of Wandsworth Common at Autumn by Jane Armstrong. This month, she, along with other artists, will be opening their doors for Wandsworth Open Artists, where not only can you have a little nosy inside their houses, but admire their wonderful masterpieces too (page 15). It is just as important to consider the outside as it is the inside of your home as I discover the art of design with architect George Clarke, aka The Restoration Man. He talks Amazing Spaces, his Clapham-based design and build company and a new television series in the pipeline on page 11. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite, we speak to famous chefs Jason Atherton (page 22) and Ainsley Harriott (page 24), the latter of whom is currently starring in this series of Strictly Come Dancing. With all that in mind, why not put the kettle on and cosy up with this month’s Residents’ Journal? I know I certainly will.

It hopes to increase farmers’ incomes and provide high-quality local and seasonal foods to urban communities. Produce will include freshly pressed juices and in-season fruit and vegetables, plus organic and free-range meats, handmade preserves and freerange eggs. All the farms are based 150 miles from London, bringing the countryside to the capital.

Permanent artwork The London-based design collective Random International, which created the hugely popular Rain Room installation in the Barbican Centre in 2012, has been commissioned to create three major new outdoor installations for the Nine Elms development. The work is scheduled to be completed by 2017 and will be funded by developer St James and overseen by the Londonbased culture agency Futurecity. Wandsworth Council has granted planning permission to developer Barratt London for a new residential tower, Lombard Wharf, which has been designed by award-winning local architects Patel Taylor. The Battersea site is one of the last remaining plots to be developed on the Thames and has been vacant since 2012. The elegantly twisting 28-storey tower will consist of 135 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and Barratt London has allocated 20 per cent for affordable housing.

Get your fresh produce here! GAIL’s Artisan Bakery opened last month, bringing fresh, hand-made artisanal breads and baked goods to an area it’s so fond of: Clapham Old Town. The new bakery reflects the lovely village feel of Old Town and is utilitarian in style, having been designed around the traditional processes of bread making, incorporating authentic, natural materials in its bakery such as wood and concrete parquet tiles, with a focal point of an open kitchen. The bakery is warmly illuminated by relaxed lighting, perfect for reading a book while enjoying a cake.
From old to new Bus route 88, which links north London with Clapham Common, has become the latest on the Transport for London (TfL) bus network to be served entirely by new Routemaster buses. The 24-hour-a-day service started running with new Routemaster buses last month. During peak hours, 23 of these state-of-the-art buses are in passenger service, carrying the 16,000 people who travel on the route each weekday. The conversion of route 88 is another step towards the delivery of 800 new Routemaster vehicles on London’s streets by 2016, reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the capital by around 27,500 tonnes per year, according to TfL.

Baking mad Eric Lanlard, award-winning master pâtissier and owner of Battersea’s boutique café Cake Boy, is encouraging you to get creative in the kitchen this October. It is part of Concern Worldwide’s annual fundraising event called Bake a Difference. Eric is inviting families to swap recipes, bake their favourite treats and then sell the goodies to raise some serious dough. Funds raised will help the charity to combat childhood malnutrition in 25 of the world’s poorest countries. Eric will be sharing an inspiring new recipe for all bakers on the website and he says: “Whether you hold your cake sale at home, at work or in the local community centre, this is a great event that everyone will enjoy, especially with delicious cakes on offer”. Supersonic broadband The Gigafast fibre optic network installed on a council estate in north Battersea has reached download speeds of 1,086 megabits per second, which is around 47 times faster than the UK average. Community Fibre Ltd has done a deal with Wandsworth Council in which the fibre optic network will be made available to council tenants and leaseholders, offering more than 20,000 homes access to the same broadband speeds. Wandsworth locals will not suffer slower speeds during peak times; this is especially beneficial for people who work at home as the connection will be strong, fast and stable. It will cost residents £30 a month to subscribe to the unlimited gigabit per second service with no line rental. The scheme is set to be a major breakthrough for London’s broadband market, as until now, most housing blocks in the capital have had to make do with slow, unreliable internet services provided over old copper telephone wires.
A big move Security expert company Banham is planning to move into its multimillion-pound headquarters in Earlsfield. Award-winning architects Allies & Morrison designed the site which boasts a state-of-the-art interior design plan built with the focus on sustainability. Banham says it will bring positive use to an area that was once neglected, as more than 300 jobs are set to be created. The headquarters will provide a boost to nearby shops and businesses and benefit the wider economy. The building will also accommodate the group’s Edexcel-approved education division – the Banham Academy – to provide key training and skills for young people.

New opening Debenhams Wandsworth opens its doors in Southside shopping centre this October. In August, more than 2,000 residents applied for just 100 jobs and the new store is set to trade from 59,000 sq ft of space with entrances on Garratt Lane and on the North Mall inside the centre. The Debenhams also includes two food spots – one of which is Patisserie Valerie, which provides delicious food and drink for you to relax and recharge with. It’s part of the £40million redevelopment of the shopping centre, proving that Wandsworth is fast becoming one of the capital’s ‘go-to’ shopping destinations.

The highly interactive performance game A House Repeated by Seth Kriebel invites you into a virtual re-imagining of Battersea Arts Centre’s historic town hall building, exploring rooms real and imagined without leaving your seat. The show is inspired by early text-based computer games of the ’70s and ’80s – we think you’re in for a treat.
Big Fish Little Fish is hosting a spooky family rave for the post-rave generation of parents at The Bedford. Alex Paterson from music group The Orb will be DJing for all the little ghouls and goblins on the multi-sensory dance floor with glitter cannons, bubbles and a giant parachute dance to entertain. It’s best to note that the spooky dress code is optional.

curious george Architect George Clarke knows how to think outside the box. Francesca Lee discusses the Restoration Man’s successes to date as he prepares to launch his new Channel 4 series
“A
rchitecture is amazing and buildings are great, but they’re only there because of the people,” says architect and television presenter George Clarke. Now in his seventh series of The Restoration Man, which sees him help people restore neglected architectural treasures, George – a statuesque and charming chap – has
become something of a household name. And if travelling across Britain to film these transformative wonders isn’t impressive enough, he has recently finished filming the sixth series of Amazing Spaces, in which he explores the extraordinary world of small builds. As well as running his design and Claphambased build company George Clarke + Partners, he

also has plans in the pipeline for a new Channel 4 series, due to air at the end of the year. But what about George’s story? Born and raised in Sunderland, he knew from the age of 12 that he wanted to be an architect. “My grandad was a builder and I used to hang out with him on building sites during the school holidays,” he tells me. “He said that as long as you get a trade in the building industry, you’ll always be alright. But as soon as I found out what an architect did, I thought ‘that’s what I want to be’ and I’ve never wavered.” After receiving a First Class BA Honours in Architectural Studies and a Certificate of Architectural Practice from Newcastle University, George went into teaching. It was during this time
that, as part of the teaching programme, he was favourite episodes was when a couple called Dave required to do some research which led him to and Margaret Hedley went from owning a threedeciding to write a book. “I had no idea where to bedroom 1930s semi-detached house to restoring start, so I asked a friend who is a writer for advice. an old flour mill in Northumberland, which was, She suggested meeting her literary agent who, in fact, near where he used to play as a child. As is although I didn’t know it at the time, was also a the format with every restoration, he did historical broadcasting agent,” George recalls. After signing research into the building and, in this particular up with the agent in 2003, a episode, he visited Alnwick few days later he was asked Castle, which houses one It’s George’s passion, if he had ever considered a of the biggest archives in down-to-earth attitude career in television. “I was the world. “The numbers reluctant – I’m an architect of documents they have is and cheeky-chappy first and foremost and and the archivist charm that make his own incredible never imagined myself as said that it could take more story so special being a presenter, and even than three generations to now I still don’t think of file them all. What I liked myself as one,” he says. However, after some gentle most about the mill is that, even now, Dave and persuasion, he had a successful screen test, and the Margaret still can’t believe they live there – for me, rest, as the saying goes, is history. that’s what it’s all about.” Filming The Restoration Man takes years George recently finished filming the sixth from start to finish, because George and his series of Amazing Spaces, which he describes as team continue to revisit a project until it is fully “absolutely bonkers”. The programme explores the completed. As a result, he often gets to know his extraordinary world of small builds, where people clients well. live, work and play. “It’s a very different format from The Restoration Man; projects can often be completed in just eight weeks, and what I love most about it is that it’s so accessible. It gives anyone the opportunity to do something, whether it’s a shed or a treehouse; the whole family can get involved.” In each episode, George visits small-build projects and does a main build for the people concerned, which is completed during the series, alongside designer Will Hardie. I probe him as to whether there’s a project he’s done throughout the entire six series that stands out the most in his mind. “A caravan in the Lake District in series one, which I still have and that my mum only visited the other week,” he responds. “It was a project very close to my heart, because when I was younger I used to stay in static caravans, and we turned this one into the most multi-disciplinary space with multi-functional furniture.” Indeed, kitted out with a Georgian-style dresser, hidden storage units and faux panelled walls, every inch was utilised, with everything from pull-out units to foldaway and build-it-yourself furniture. It certainly provides food for thought for practical solutions to the trickiest of small spaces.
George goes on to describe how the boundaries have been pushed even further in series six. “There’s a floating beach hut, which is brilliant. We’ve never done anything like it before and it’s quintessentially British, which is what I love the most about it,” he explains. And what about the most ‘bonkers’ project? “Well, that has to go to a guy who has turned a hearse into a camper van – you don’t get any more eccentric than that!” Thinking outside the box is clearly what George is known for, and this comes into play at his design and build company George Clarke + Partners. Together with an in-house team made up of architects, quantity surveyors, project managers and contractors, the company offers the definitive design and build service to its clients, servicing every stage of the project – from first design consultation to completion of the build on-site. “We’re a one stop-shop and take on everything, from the refurbishment and adaptation of historic and listed buildings to high-spec restorations, with the majority of our work being residential,” he explains. Living in west London and working at his office based in Clapham, George finds that most of the projects are in these areas. But what is the age-old answer to achieving more space? “We have a lot of basement conversions, so from advising about using the space to putting in the planning applications, we know the ins and outs of the whole process.” With all of these exciting projects on the go at the same time, how does George find the time to juggle it all? “To be honest, it doesn’t feel like a job to me. Some days when I wake up, I still can’t believe it,” he says. “I feel like the luckiest guy in the world.” Somehow, though, I don’t quite think it’s all about luck; it’s George’s passion, down-to-earth attitude and cheeky-chappy charm that make his own story so special. Watch this space for his next compelling chapter. n
Watch Amazing Spaces on Channel 4 at 8pm Thursdays. The seventh series of The Restoration Man will begin in the new year. For more information about George Clarke + Partners, email enquiries@ georgeclarke.com or visit georgeclarkeandpartners.com

Iain, Lynn and Amy are photographers who live with their families in Furzedown, all have very different interests and styles; Lynn is also a painter and illustrator. This will be Iain and Lynn’s fourth year of taking part in Open House and Amy’s first appearance. Iain has always loved photography, particularly urban landscapes. His work combines photography and digital manipulation to create bold contemporary images of London landmarks. His series, entitled Icons, evolved from his longexposure photography, which explored how the city changes from day to night and how different colours transform the landscape. Starting with just a photograph, he digitally manipulates an image to create an imaginative take on an iconic building or location in London landmarks. Lynn is a freelance photographer and designer who works across a range of mediums, while Amy is also a freelance photographer. For this year’s Open House, Amy is
focusing on a variety of recognisable landmarks in our great capital – she has plenty to choose from.

A new and talented artist, Jane studied at Chelsea College of Art under the tutelage of Peter Fleming. Using oils, acrylics and mixed media, she enjoys painting in her studio and is an avid photographer. Her reputation is growing, and private collectors in London and France have bought her work. Jane’s ability to visualise an eclectic breadth of subjects and events has influenced her highly innovative and imaginative style, depicted in her exciting range of paintings. Her choice of colour is vivacious and impactive and the paintings challenge the eye to view the captured land and seascapes or flower studies from a different perspective – a feature that pervades all her work.

Victoria is a silversmith who works from her Battersea studio in her home. She has been making jewellery for about five years and mainly works in silver to create beautiful sterling-silver jewellery but also uses salvaged materials and metals and draws inspiration from nature. This will be her second year of taking part in Open House and she loves having the opportunity to meet new people and show them what she does. This year she plans to host a jewellery-related activity and will be serving cakes.
Three artists: Vanessa Wembridge, a portrait painter, photographer Anthony Coleman and painter Masha Bozunova will be showcasing their work at this year’s © Vanessa Wembridge Wandsworth Artists’ Open House. Vanessa paints portraits in oils, working from quick sketches and “hundreds of photos, taken at an informal sitting” when she gets to know the individual. She doesn’t believe people should sit for hours while being painted, especially children as they can’t pose for long, which is why she takes photographs of her subjects. Vanessa meets them in order to get an impression of their personality, saying: “I take the best bits of a person – not meaning to flatter, but showing what’s attractive about them, what interests me.”

Their home is a permanent gallery with more than 60 framed images on display. Olga’s landscapes are impressionistic and colourful; her cityscapes embrace all the noise and chaos of modern life. Her scenes are always full of people and she is never content to depict architecture alone – her paintings capture the vivacity of Britain’s capital city in all its guises. Stuart has a spectacular photography CV, from starting at Vogue Studios London to working for magazines including Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, Vogue andVanity Fair. Cliff Pearcey Cliff is a self-taught artist who makes fun and fine art from objects that he has salvaged, the majority of which are constructed from wood. Most of the materials he uses have been sourced from car-boot sales, and he works with “shapes that speak”, or at least look as if they might have something interesting to say. At best, his method is unplanned and sees him playing with shapes, and re-arranging them until they suggest something. It’s a type of recycling that creates the extraordinary out of the ordinary and is a way of looking at things differently. What he creates depends on what he salvages, so every piece is very individual.

T
he Clapham Opera Festival is a great event and extremely popular among opera lovers and inquisitive souls coming to experience opera for the first time. It was founded by local resident Marie Soulier to support and promote up-and-coming singers, musicians and the incredible behind-the-scenes talent. People travel from all parts of London and the country to enjoy the various events and leave elated, surprised and wanting more. For the community of Clapham, it has become an annual “look forward to” event – in fact, people have been in contact since May to find out about the programme and date of the box office opening. Marie is a long-term resident of Clapham, 30 years to be precise. Her dream was to bring
opera to Clapham and make a place for the wider community to experience the passion, joy, pain and tragedy of this classical art form and, happily, her dream came true in 2013. Marie says: “My path is unconventional; I am not a musician, no singer and my background is in fashion. I started Opera Pour Un five years ago, organising concerts at my home and other people’s houses and from there, ended up with a full festival.” With the help of some wonderful supporters and local businesses, the festival has grown from 725 visitors at the first one in 2013 to 900 in 2014. The organisers hope to help more people to experience this musical art form this year, including children who have shown such a great interest in opera at the festivals over the years.

Chef Robin Gill and his wife Sarah own this contemporary bar and bistro and, thankfully, they’re seasoned professionals having both worked at Raymond Blanc’s Michelin-starred restaurants. What’s
Bethan Rees catches up with superstar chef and now perfumer and Balham resident Jason Atherton about his latest fragrant adventure and life in SW12
I
n the first collaboration of its kind, Jason Atherton, FOUR magazine and British fragrance creators Boadicea the Victorious have teamed up to create a fragrance, called Vetiver Imperiale. The scent is inspired by some of Jason’s travels around the world and life experiences, such as the smell of freshly cut grass and rhubarb from his Lincolnshire childhood to Arabian aromas from his time spent in Dubai.
Photography © John Carey
What inspired the business move into fragrances?
Where’s the perfect place to wear it?
Antioco Piras, co-founder and director of FOUR, first approached me about this collaboration which I saw as the perfect opportunity to create something that celebrates the way I live – things that inspire and motivate me. Travel is a huge part of my life as I learn about new ingredients and new cultures. Vetiver Imperiale is a reflection of my passions.
Personally, I wear it everywhere!
How would you describe the fragrance? It’s quite a fresh and citrusy fragrance with hints of bergamot, cedar wood, Moroccan rose and patchouli. It’s designed for both men and women and comes packaged in a very elegant turquoise and gold bottle.
Who is your culinary hero? I have two: Thomas Keller and Ferran Adrià. Both of them have had a major influence on my career and taught me so much as a young and naïve chef.
What is your biggest achievement to date? Marrying my wife Irha and having our two beautiful daughters is my number-one achievement. After that, it would have to be opening my restaurant Pollen Street Social. We re-mortgaged our house and put our life’s savings into it – we really didn’t know how it would be received; it’s like my third child.
- 22 -
Residents’ Journal
What has been the biggest challenge in your career? Juggling family life and work. As every chef knows, this is never easy. Irha keeps our family together and they accept that this is what I have to do but they support me throughout.
What’s your daily routine? I get up at 7am, get the kids ready for school and prepare breakfast. I usually leave home by 8am and head straight for our head office in Soho. Between 9am-12noon is back-to-back with meetings, tastings and menu development. Then I’ll do lunch service, usually at Pollen Street Social. Afterwards, I head to the gym and work out for an hour – fitness is a huge part of my life, it’s like my downtime. After the gym I go back to the office for more back-to-back meetings, photo shoots and interviews. From 6pm to about 11pm, I’m back in the kitchen for dinner service, which rotates between Pollen Street Social, Berners Tavern and City Social. I’m usually in bed by midnight before the alarm goes off the next day and I’m off to do it all over again! My weekends, however, I keep to myself as much as possible and take time for hang out with my family.
What inspired you to start cooking, and can you remember the first dish you made? My mum used to run a B&B when I was younger, and the first dish I ever made was probably a full English.
Have you got any advice for aspiring chefs? Patience: don’t run ahead of yourself, learn from the bottom up, listen and respect your senior chefs and team on your journey.
If you weren’t a chef, what would you be doing instead? Something in fashion. Not many people know this, but I’m a bit of a fashion nut. I’m one of the few men who love shopping.
What has The Social Company got in store for the rest of this year and for further afield? I am currently in Dubai getting ready for the launch of our latest restaurant, Dubai Marina, located in the Intercontinental Hotel. After Dubai, we’ll head to Sydney later this year to open Kensington Street Social. It has been a full-on year for us, but this is what I thrive on – it’s a very exciting time for the company.
What’s your favourite London restaurant? Scott’s in Mayfair – it’s my home-from-home. Sean on the door is always there to greet me, and the food and service are top-class.
Why did you choose to live in Balham, and what do you like about it? The location is great, the transport links are good and it’s got a kind of village feel about it, which makes me feel like I’m far away from London but also close enough that I can be in the centre in about 20 minutes. It’s a lovely place to raise kids.
Would you consider opening a restaurant in south-west London? It’s not on the cards at the moment, but I would never say never.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? Have patience and good things will come. Some chefs nowadays want to open their restaurant and become ‘celebrity chefs’ after a short time! People say to me “Wow you’ve achieved so much in such a short time”, but I’ve worked my behind off to get where I am and it’s taken me nearly 30 years to do so. Chefs need to work hard, listen and respect their senior chef and soak up every bit of advice like a sponge. n

All that

hef Ainsley Harriott has been on our screens for many years. Currently starring in Strictly Come Dancing, he stands at six foot four tall and is fearless enough to wear a clingy, sequinned costume on television. So popular is Ainsley that thousands of fans have launched a tonguein-cheek campaign, petitioning for his face to be on next year’s £20 note. But the 58-year-old star, who we know so well from 16 years and 2,000 episodes of Ready, Steady Cook, now has a profile that is set to rise stratospherically because he’s currently strutting his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing. The famous chef was approached by the BBC several months ago to appear on Strictly and confesses: “I’ve always loved the show and have had many opportunities to appear on it in the past, but there were too many work commitments back then. “However, I was flattered to have been asked again, and that’s when I knew this was the perfect chance and, seeing as I’ve been paired with lovely Natalie Lowe, I can only hope that I’m in with a chance of winning…” he says, flashing his trademark huge grin. “Mind you, although it is genuinely exciting for me to compete with my fellow dancers, I have to admit I have a real fear that I could easily get my left foot mixed up with my right.” Dancing aside, Ainsley credits his mother Peppy for passing on her love of food. “Mum cooked for the family as a way of showing love, and I guess that’s where I got it from,” he says. “When guests praised her cooking, it dawned on me that this was a very simple way of making people happy which is how I feel about it too.” He adds that his brother and sister are also excellent cooks. His 21-year-old daughter Maddie works for an upmarket catering company and his 24-year-old son Jimmy is in the music business, so clearly neither have got by on their father’s coat-tails. Having lived in south-west London since he was
two years old and, despite being an Arsenal fan, Ainsley says with a grimace: “Crossing the river to north London gives me a real headache. I’m much happier in the friendly, villagey atmosphere that we have around these parts; we are very lucky to have so much on our doorstep. I Iove taking my dog Bobby for a walk over Wandsworth or Clapham Common and buying fantastic meat at my two favourite butchers – Moens in Clapham and Chadwicks in Balham. Chez Bruce on Bellevue Road is a great restaurant, as is KaoSarn, the Thai restaurant on St John’s Hill – fantastic food that is very reasonably priced.” Ainsley lived in Hendrick Avenue when he was young and went to the magnificent St Luke’s Church, and the scout group there in Thurleigh Road used to be a small tennis club, which was very near the church, but sadly that

get bored very easily when it comes to exercising. Using a running machine is best for me because it’s difficult to get off once it has started going, and some of them have television screens to distract you while you run. Ah, the 21st century. Weight-lifting and toning exercises are the dullest in my mind, and I often find motivation hits me for about two lifts and then I want to go and do something else, like swimming or eating a huge plate of cheese and biscuits. It’s for this reason that PureGym’s function room, down in the basement, offers the perfect fitness class for me. I’m taken down to where I’ll be put through a rigorous regime and meet my classmates – a few apprehensive-looking women – and admire the selection of fitness weaponry laid out before us. In the middle of the space is a steel frame with various implements hanging off it: TRX straps, a pole with a heavy disc at one end and a weird furry rope. Surrounding the frame are many other items of cellulite’s terror: bench presses, medicine balls, squatting pads and a long ream of rope tied to the ground at one end. I eye the items suspiciously and join my sporting comrades in looking apprehensive.
We begin by running around the perimeter of the room and every now and then our instructor gets us to squat, hop up and start running again. This is the warm-up and, when it’s over, we’re ordered to reduce our pace to walking and circling the items. As we walk around, our instructor stands in the middle and walks over to each item and explains what it is and what we have to do. I feel like we’re in a musical and expect to be told to start clicking my fingers with each step of our march. Thankfully, this doesn’t happen and we have to move on to our first post. “Forty-five seconds on each step with 15 seconds rest between,” says Mr Motivator. “Go!” he barks. And so it begins.

1 Push-ups
7 SQUAT BALANCE
2 HAND WEIGHTS
8 MEDICINE BALL
I get on the mat, full of enthusiasm. I’ve got to push up with one hand on the ground and one hand on the half-yoga ball contraption laid out at the top end of the mat. I’ve got to swap from hand to hand after each set, which is remarkably more difficult than I had anticipated. Other people have started on more difficult stations and I pity them for their poor decision-making skills.
I lie on my back on the weight-lifting chair (you’ll notice that my sporting vocabulary is limited) and heave the little dumbbells up above me and down again. Only 45 seconds of this, I think. It’s not too bad and I’m enjoying the fact that I’m being moved around and not stuck doing one thing.
3 WEIGHTED POLE
I pick up the ball and throw it down as hard as possible. It’s heavy and I’m making a lot of noise, but it’s one of the easier ones so I don’t complain.
9 ROPE WAVING
I stand over the pole and pant a little bit. This is hard work. The next 45 seconds commence, so I have to bend my legs, push my shoulders back and pull the loose end of the weighted pole towards me. I feel and look as though I’m operating some sort of pump, and I consider the possibility that I’m creating the power for the building’s electricity.
4 FURRY ROPE
I stand at this one throughout my 15-second break with my hands on my hips and a look of curiosity on my face. Oh well, I think, here goes. The set begins and I pull the furry rope down towards me. It’s on a loop, so the rope never runs out but our instructor comes over and tells me to do it harder. The pain kicks in and I have to imagine I’m on a ship sailing through bath-warm waters in the Caribbean to get through it. Who knew this would be so tough?
5 SQUAT PUSH-UPS
I get to this one, turn around and lean against the raised metal platform. I push my already-aching arm muscles to do their thing and the endorphins begin to flow through my body and, lo and behold, I’m thoroughly enjoying my beating.
6 TRX PULL-UPS
I’ve done some TRX exercising before, so I saunter to this station with misguided confidence. I begin to pull up, leaning back as far as possible, and find it rather easy. That is, of course, because I’m doing it wrong. A teacher-like voice appears at my ear and tells me how to do it properly and I realise it’s not as easy as I thought.
Hopping onto the little platform for this one is fine, though realising it’s on springs is not so good. Using my core strength, I balance the board and squat down as low as possible. Back up and down again a fair few times. One of my classmates leans into my vicinity while holding onto the TRX straps. “This killed me last week,” she pants. I nod in admiration of the fact that she has returned.
I pick up the two-strands rope and see that the other two ends meet at the middle in a hook anchoring it to the ground. For this one I have to wriggle the ropes fast and hard, causing them to ripple and wave all the way along, like you used to do with skipping ropes at school. I look like a two-tentacled, sweaty creature. This is easily the worst one.
10 GRASSHOPPERS
This requires no equipment apart from a mat. Down onto my forearms I go and bring each knee up alongside my hip, one at a time without them touching the ground.
11 CORE STRENGTHENING
I climb onto a backward-sloping platform with my legs tucked in at the top end. Here I hold my hands behind my head and slowly rotate around in a circle, giving my abs an admittedly good workout.
12 LEG RAISES
At this point I have no time for thinking about anything other than how tired I am. I lie on my back and raise my legs off the floor and lower them again between a 45-degree angle.
13 BUNNY HOPS
The last step. I hop to my heart’s content for 45 seconds and collapse into a heap when the time’s up but, to my absolute horror, we’re told to start again. I take a deep breath, move to the push-up section where I began and, holding back a tear or two, begin the first of my second round of circuit training. n

Parent Trap: Nappy Valley Net NappyValleyNet.com has become an online sensation in the four years since founder Susan Hanage, aka. Annabel, launched it, with more than 130,000 visits to the site every month. An invaluable tool for parents based in south-west London who are seeking to swap tips and share advice, we’ve teamed up to post some of the most pressing topics posted on the site
Summer babies – delaying admission to primary school Mon 14 Sep, 2015 11:01am Hello, is there anyone else who has a summer baby and is thinking about/or has delayed their admission to primary school? I’m just starting to think about it, so I’m unsure if it is possible in Wandsworth, but I believe my little girl would really benefit from starting later. It would be great to hear other parents’ opinions and experiences, especially if you have a summer baby and are considering delaying their admission to school.
Sun 20 Sep, 2015 8:57pm You may find she’s completely ready by next September. I have an October baby who will start school in Sept 2017 but I feel he will be bursting out of his nursery by then – as he will be almost five – and I wish he could start school earlier. I think you have to consider what they will miss, especially in terms of socialising if they start school late, if it is even permitted. Mon 21 Sep, 2015 9:31am It is possible and we did consider it briefly with our summer baby, who is now well into primary school. Just a word of warning though: it would create a lot of problems in the future if you do decide to do it. A lot of secondary schools will be a write-off, because your child won’t be in the right age group given you have delayed her admission. I don’t know the technicalities but that was certainly true when we called a few secondary schools and when we checked with the council. So we decided against delaying. A good few years into primary school and you couldn’t tell from her peers that she’s a summer baby. She’s reading and writing fluently, she knows the school rules; she has lots of friends and is generally a very happy child.
But yes, her first two terms in reception were very hard; not because of her learning abilities but because of her maturity she needed more time to understand the different routine from nursery, the concentration, etc. She still gets tired but that’s no different from her sister who is an autumn child. Good luck.
Parents with older primary schoolaged children – what do you wish you had considered when applying for schools? Sat 12 Sep 12, 2015 9:04pm This year we will be applying for our little one to start reception in 2016 and I’m conscious that things I’m looking for now in a school may not be so important in three years’ time. Just wondering if any of you wise parents out there could share how your views of what is important for primary school has changed as your kids have got older? Have any of the following become more or less important? • Specialist teachers for sports, music, language and art • Lessons • Outdoor space • Breakfast/after-school care
• Secondary school admissions and exam preparation • Number of entry forms (is one too small? Three too big?) • Ofsted rating/ks1 and ks2 results • The “feel” of the school • School clubs • Reputation • Staff turnover • Stretching bright kids/supporting those who need extra help • Distance from home (or whether the school is en route to work) Mon 21 Sep, 2015 9:17am I would suggest you visit all the schools you might reasonably might get in to and go with the place that feels right. When your kid joins a school, you join a community, so bear that in mind when making a choice. Oh, and don’t pay too much attention to Ofsted reports – they really only tell a small part of the story. Mon 21 Sep, 2015 9:36am Yes, and just to add to a previous poster: try to be at pick-up times at the school gates to get a feel from the kids and teachers after a long school day: are they happy, smiling, running around in a happy way, etc? Are they grumpy, scared, is there something that doesn’t sit well, etc? You’ll get a good feel at the school gates. And talk to parents. And trust your gut feeling as well – you’ll know if you and your child will be happy there.

Fencing is great for all ages for improving co-ordination, self-respect, self-motivation and overall fitness, which is why The Fencing School has set up a community programme for children that’s both exciting and fun. Of course, the ‘sword-fighting’ in films like The Three Musketeers, Star Wars and Peter Pan can help instil young children’s enthusiasm to learn to fence, so why not indulge their interest? New afterschool drop-in classes are available, aimed at children aged between seven and 12 and are ideal for kids who have never fenced before.

Today, probably only a handful of silver aficionados and historians make the pilgrimage to Storr’s graveside, to stop and quietly ponder upon such a brilliant career. Paul Storr had retired to Tooting in 1838, where he lived at Hill House. He died there a few years later in 1844, aged 73. and was buried with his wife Elizabeth, who had died the previous year, and later one of their grandsons. The modest grave with its simple memorial gives no indication of the incredible masterpieces in silver that Storr left as his remarkable legacy to the world. Storr’s brilliance, however, is about to be celebrated with the publication of a major new book and a landmark exhibition of a dazzling array of more than 200 examples of his craftsmanship in silver and gold, the largest grouping of Storr silver ever shown. Paul Storr was born in Westminster in 1771. His father Thomas Storr of Westminster was first a silverchaser (engraver) and later an innkeeper. Paul himself was a member of the Vintners’ Company and, on completing his apprenticeship, registered his first mark as a silversmith at Goldsmiths’ Hall in the City of London on January 12 1793. Early on in his career, Storr had a workshop in Air Street, just off Piccadilly, but when he started his association with the royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Rundell in 1807, he ran extensive workshops in Dean Street, Soho, which had for many years been a neighbourhood of artists and craftsmen. Later, in the 1820s, Storr entered into a partnership with the retailer John Mortimer, and Storr’s workshop
off Gray’s Inn Road supplied its salubrious premises in Bond Street with the choicest silver articles. Storr numbered among his clients not only British royalty and the aristocratic elite, politicians and members of the clergy, but also European noble families and prominent Americans. From 1811 to his accession to the throne in 1820, the Prince Regent (later George IV) spent more than £150,000 on silver with Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, most of it made from Storr’s direction and struck with Storr’s maker’s mark. The Duke of Wellington was another of Storr’s major patrons, and the Duke, in particular, recognised the important diplomatic role that silver played. In 1814, he commissioned silver services from Storr for British embassies so that ambassadors could entertain in grand style, which reflected Britain’s glory and importance as a major power. Not only do several British embassies still use Storr silver, his silver continues to grace the most important dining tables around the world, from Buckingham Palace to the White House in Washington. Storr’s career spanned an important period in British history. It was a time of the Industrial Revolution and the expansion of the British Empire. Military campaigns, such as the Battle of Waterloo, (this year celebrating its 200-year anniversary), which saw Britain emerge as the dominant power in Europe, fuelled a demand for silver to commemorate such momentous events. Added to which a more international outlook following the Congress of Vienna (1814-15) saw newly fashionable foods, changes in table settings and, above all, the creation of great wealth for Britain resulted in a revolution in silverware, of which Storr was one of the leading exponents. Storr was not only a brilliant silversmith, he was also a 19th-century entrepreneur, quick and savvy enough to seize every opportunity to expand his workshop, establish his

brand and extend his client base. His crowning achievement was the ingenious way in which he merged creative talent and cutting-edge technology. He had a flair for spotting the best artists, including celebrated painters and sculptors as well as designers, draughtsmen and modellers. Fine art and the ‘plastic arts’ of ceramics and sculpture were united as never before. At the height of his career, Storr employed more than 500 of the most talented workers and craftsmen. The silver manufacturing trade during this period was highly organised and involved a complex network of designers, modellers and silversmiths, each with their own very specific skills and tasks. Storr was not only an inspired innovator, he was also a very capable artistic director, who was able to orchestrate the talents and artistry of others and unify them to create his visionary masterpieces in silver. Contemporary records and anecdotes suggest that, for all his talents and business acumen, Storr was a quiet, god-fearing, modest man who was devoted to his large family. He had married Elizabeth Susanna Beyer, whose family were piano and organ builders of Compton Street in 1801, and together they had 10 children. He left £3,000 in his will and there was no mention of any silver, but that is not to say he had not already distributed much of his wealth to his large family. Two of his sons went through university and became clergymen – one Francis, erected a memorial to his father at Otely Church in Suffolk, which still exists. Storr’s trade tools, bench and papers remained in his last workshop on Harrison Street, off Gray’s Inn Road, but sadly these were all destroyed in the Second World War. Luckily for us, however, Storr’s silver masterpieces still survive, albeit spread across the globe – in royal palaces, embassies, major museums and galleries, city-livery companies and grand houses, as well as in smaller, more modest collections. Storr continues to be the byword for quality in silver and
his silver remains as sought-after and appreciated in the 21st century as it was in his own lifetime. Today, collectors appreciate that each piece steeped in history, but it is unlikely that such magnificent works will ever be produced again. Two hundred years later, that surely is Storr’s greatest epitaph and a far cry from the forgotten churchyard in Tooting where his mortal remains now rest. n

COMPAN Y PROF ILE: JOHNS&CO
R AISING THE BAR JOHNS&CO may be the new kid on the block, but with the number of properties under its management set to double each year, it seems John Morley, managing director and founder, has perfected a winning formula

hen John Morley established JOHNS&CO in 2013, his vision was very clear; he would establish a lettings and management company that would go above and beyond, not just for the landlords who pay the bills, but for tenants too: “Tenants are more likely to stay in a home with a fantastic range of additional benefits, thus keeping investments occupied, affording landlords peace of mind,” he explains. Morley says the first time you’ll

probably have any form of interaction with the property manager is when something breaks or goes wrong. That isn’t the case at JOHNS&CO: “Our property managers meet every tenant moving into every apartment to build a rapport immediately.” He adds, “Our property managers aren’t remote, they’re on the ground – that way we can address any issues or problems at once. There’s a property manager literally an elevator away.” And a highly qualified one too.

Planning applications Date RECEIVED: 7 September Address: Fontenoy Road Proposal: Alterations, including erection of a single-storey side and rear extension and re-cladding of existing dormer roof extension. At JOHNS&CO, the team comprises expert consultants who are experienced in multiple markets – everything from sales and rentals to property management. Morley says it’s about ensuring that both the landlords and tenants experience the very highest quality of service possible. Judging by JOHNS&CO’s success thus far, it seems clients are responding well to the services offered. Morley and his team take the approach of talking to tenants six, seven months before completion: “We give potential tenants the time to sort out their current accommodation and get ready for a move in the future.” He adds: “Embassy Gardens is completing and we’re having phenomenal success with our team letting those apartments.” In fact, in just two short months, the team based there has achieved occupancy of between 40 and 50 apartments.” This level of success is set to continue. Morley says the number of properties under his management is set to double next year – a fantastic forecast for a company that’s still very much in its infancy.
While JOHNS&CO is still a new kid on the block, Morley brings years of experience to the business. Before founding JOHNS&CO, he worked at the Ballymore Group as head of international sales, where he gained an innate understanding of the expectations of customers throughout the world. This has filtered through all aspects of his business where there’s clearly a strong emphasis on a bespoke, high-quality service with unwavering standards. Even when he speaks about future expansion, those standards remain at the forefront of his mind: “If we open a new office, there will be a new team. There will be a property manager, a lettings manager, a lettings team and a sales team; we wouldn’t ever be reliant on stretched resources.” If the last couple of years is anything to go by, we’d say JOHNS&CO will be looking to employ many more resources in the coming years. n

lex Dowding has certainly made an impression on the Douglas & Gordon Southfields & Earlsfield branch. Alex – who lives in Earlsfield – set up the branch more than four years ago. “As we’re a small office, I know every single one of my landlords which is nice. I also know the majority of our tenants too,” he says. The results of both Alex and his colleague sales manager Maddie Miller speak for themselves. They have won the sought-after Douglas & Gordon’s Customer Service Award four years in a row, and are keen to retain the title. The award is scored by the clients every time they complete a transaction, be that sales or lettings. He adds: “The award is between sales and lettings in all 15 offices, so it is pretty competitive.” Alex, who was previously at the Douglas & Gordon branch in Northcote Road, describes how the two offices differ. “Theirs is an established office with a lot of

repeat business and whilst we’re building that up here, a lot of landlords live overseas, so I’m reliant on first-time landlords who live locally,” he says. Other differences Alex notes are that his office deals heavily in the family market and that house shares are minimal. “We also find that people in Southfields like to know who is living next door to them and landlords can be can be quite conscious of who their tenants are.” Southfields has changed a lot since Alex has been at the branch and he finds that

most families decide to rent in the area because of its outstanding schools. With 80 per cent of his tenancies on a 12-month fixed contract, 15 per cent on 18-months to two years, and five per cent have a six-month break clause, it’s clear that people who move decide to stay for a long period. With a lot of new developments popping up around the area, including Riley’s Snooker Hall which is being turned into a residential and retail complex and new restaurants and chains moving in, it’s no surprise that property is in demand. “We now have Cook, Franco Manca and M&S is coming too. With the district line on our doorstep and Earlsfield a 10-minute walk where people can get a train to Waterloo in 13 minutes, it’s no surprise Southfields has become a hotspot.” n

Bouygues lands £1billion contract to build Battersea Power Station Phase 3 The Battersea Power Station Development Company has picked Bouygues UK for one of the biggest private building contracts ever awarded. Bouygues is now the preferred contractor for the design and build contract for Phase 3 of the Battersea Power Station project; it’s a deal that’s likely to be worth more than £1billion. Works are due to start on site in early 2016, alongside the ongoing construction of Circus West (Phase 1) and the regeneration of the Power Station itself (Phase 2). Work is expected to start on the northern half of the Phase 3 site in Q1 2016 and conclude in 2019, with works on the southern half commencing in 2018 and concluding in 2020, in parallel with the opening of the Northern Line extension. Together, Phase 1, 2 and 3 will be the largest single development project in central London since Canary Wharf. Phase 3 delivers quite a few of the project’s showstoppers including a new pedestrianised high street for London, The Electric Boulevard. The 250-metre long boulevard will be the main gateway to the entire Battersea development, connecting the Northern Line extension station to the south of the site with the Power Station itself. It will also house 1,305 new homes and 350,000 sq ft of retail space. Phase 3 will comprise 1,305 new homes in a range of sizes and styles on either side of the 250-metre long split-level boulevard that will offer 350,000 sq ft of space. Foster + Partners’ Battersea Roof Gardens building lies to the west of the high street, while Gehry Partners’ novel take on John Nash Regency terraces, Prospect Place, is to the east. Rob Tincknell, CEO at Battersea Power Station Development Company said: “The appointment of Bouygues UK as preferred contractor to build Phase 3 – the gateway to the Power Station – is a major milestone and increases the total area under
construction on site to approximately five million sq ft. “Bouygues UK demonstrated an impressive approach to the project and had a clear ability to address the challenges of the current London market, resulting in the best cost and programme outcomes. We welcome them to the delivery team that will build these new landmarks for London.”
Sky Pool Scramble: Ballymore banking on another sellout at Embassy Gardens Plans have been unveiled for the next release of apartments at Embassy Gardens (now better known as “that one with the Sky Pool”), three years after the first phase of the flagship Nine Elms scheme sold out in a single weekend.

The 179-unit second phase will deliver one, two and three bed apartments, along with a mighty penthouse, with prices starting at £602,000 for a suite. One-beds will cost around £775,000, two-beds start at £1.05million and three-beds will go for £1.74million and more. penthouse is going for though. Developer EcoWorld Ballymore is billing the 2000-unit project as “London’s new diplomatic precinct”, and it’s gone with red-brick exteriors inspired by the meatpacking districts of New York and the period mansion blocks of London. Second-phase units will feature floor-toceiling windows, oak veneers, stainless steel kitchens and a Soho lofts vibe. They’ve done a cracking job of selling in the residents’ amenities so far, which sound particularly special. A sky deck at the top of the two buildings will incorporate a spa, summer bar and orangery, with views towards the Houses of Parliament and London Eye, but it’s really all about the Sky Pool, which will link the towers at tenth floor level with what is essentially a 25-metre suspended fish tank. Unsurprisingly, this feat hasn’t been done before. The pool is designed to connect the Legacy Building to the EG:LE club; the residents’ private members hangout, which will house a private gym and yoga studio, boxing ring, private cinema and a traditional private library and lounge area.
New £1million+ areas of London The list of £1million+ neighbourhoods in the capital just got longer. Knight Frank has mapped the markets where at least 20 per cent of sales have been above £1million in at least one quarter since the start of 2014. The minimum threshold was five sales and no postcode district was allowed to have more than one quarter with 20 per cent of sales above £1million before 2014. New entrants to the £1million+ club include Hammersmith (which has had five such quarters since 2014, the biggest transformation recorded), Maida Vale (W9), Queen’s Park (NW6), East Finchley (N2) and Muswell Hill (N10). Battersea (SW11), Vauxhall (SW8) and Herne Hill (SE24) are the new faces further south of the river. n
A shift in seasons Jonathan Dyson of Hamptons Battersea sums up how the market changes according to the time of year
T
raditionally the property market revolves around two seasons, the spring and the autumn. Many buyers start their search in March or April as the weather gets better and everyone looks forward to warmer days and longer evenings. The autumn market used to be as busy as the spring, though, these days there are fewer buyers around, and those that are looking seem to be much more choosy and happy to take their time. This year has been quite unusual in that the early Easter, bank holidays and general election all pushed the spring market back to the start of June, so September just feels like a continuation of the spring/summer. Where does that leave us now and what can we expect for the rest of the year? There’s often an assumption that the autumn brings a flurry of new buyers and therefore this is time to push prices and reject offers, however, this really is counter-productive. The last fortnight saw more price reductions on Rightmove than any in the previous six months – and that’s purely down to overvaluing in the first place. The average asking prices between the commons are currently £832 per square foot and selling prices closer to £775/sqft, so if you list your house at, say £900/sqft, you’re simply going to
- 39 -
gather proverbial dust. We’re seeing the time spent on the market before selling creeping up, and this is down to buyers doing their research, being more cautious and making sure that what they offer on is their perfect property. For two-bedroom flats the time is longer as there are so many on the market at the moment. Independent research shows that the average time between properties being listed for sale and going under offer is just over two months, with two-bed flats averaging nearly three months. Long gone are the days of selling in days, or even weeks. It’s not all bad news though, as fall-through rates are dropping due to buyers being more committed when they do decide to buy. All in all, it’s very much business as usual, but with an underlying message to be realistic in your pricing and open-minded to good offers from the right buyers. n

Take note Charlotte Dover, head of lettings at Savills Clapham, rounds up the current market
C
oming into autumn, now that Londoners have returned to the city again after the summer break, the lettings market has continued to move forward at a healthy pace. The last three months since July have seen the lettings market pick up with a higher volume of properties being let than earlier in the year and, in the middle market especially, at strong prices for our landlords. We often have a much busier second half of the year to the first and, with a number of ‘move-ins’ already secured for the coming months, we expect this to continue. The family market is generally expected to dominate during the summer in southwest London, yet our most active market over the last few months has involved letting to young professional sharers and couples, who have flocked to Clapham and Balham for the excellent transport links and social life. Most of these tenants have been incredibly motivated, often house-hunting with shorter notice periods but understanding the market well and making sure they are well-prepared before looking. Notice periods are shorter across the board, with many tenants now searching for properties they can move in within two or three weeks. While families tend to give themselves a little more notice, we have let two houses recently with offers to move in within just 10 days. We’re also talking to increasing numbers of new landlords who have either moved out of London to the country but are concerned about losing their foot on the London property ladder so they have chosen to let rather than sell; this has been the case with three of the houses we have let recently in the Nightingale Triangle. We work very closely with our Corporate Services department that deals with both prospective tenants moving for work, whose companies contribute to their rent, as well as companies who arrange accommodation for their employees. The former often use relocation agents to help them with their search, and with whom we have a really strong relationship in the area. This can be incredibly useful when frankly discussing budgets and requirements and often means we can find these tenants the right property
Gosberton Road
Gosberton Road
more quickly. The corporate tenant market of old was very much focused on the financial sector, often involving relocating employees with their families. Now, with an increasing number of technology and energy industries basing themselves in London, we’re dealing more often with young, affluent tenants who have not yet had children so they can look with more flexibility over their choice of area and generally rent one or two-bedroom flats rather than large houses. Despite the family market being a little quieter, we have had some excellent success stories. Three, four and five-bedroom houses in the Nightingale Triangle are still
- 52 -
proving incredibly popular, and we have had particular success in letting properties like these this year. One, a three-bedroom on Calbourne Road, was actually sold to the new landlord and agreed an asking price offer within the first week of marketing it for letting at £750 per week. We have another fabulous house on the market around the corner on Gosberton Road at £950 per week, full of Victorian charm with five bedrooms and a lovely private garden, which I expect will be very well received. n

Bark rangers Bethan Rees sits down with Laura Wilcox-Chandley, associate director at Marsh & Parsons’ Clapham South & Balham office, ahead of the Clapham Common Fun Dog Show, sponsored by the SW12 team
W
ith a woof and a wag, Clapham Common welcomes the Fun Dog Show for the first time on 4 October. Organised by the Friends of Clapham Common group and sponsored by Marsh & Parsons, the event will celebrate all things canine, with entertainment for all the family. Located just south-east of the La Baita Café, it’s set to be a fun-filled day that Laura Wilcox-Chandley, associate director at Marsh & Parsons’ Clapham South & Balham office, will be attending with her two dogs, Twix and Freddie. “I like dog shows, I think they’re so much fun. I enjoy meeting fellow dog owners as well as the wider community. When you have a dog, people always tend to stop to talk to you – it’s really sociable,” she begins to explain. “I’ve lived in London my whole life, and it was only when I got a dog that I started to get to know the local residents, because people feel like they can approach you.” With three offices located around the Common, it seems like a perfect match that Marsh & Parsons is sponsoring the event. “We have such a presence in this area,” Laura tells me. “It’s really good for people to get to know you and to make a difference through supporting the community,” she says. “We also sponsor a lot of local schools too. I think it’s important to be a part of the community because we’re on the corner of Balham Hill and Gaskarth Road, so we’re very visible to residents and we want to get involved,” she adds. Engaging with the local community is a big part of Marsh & Parsons’ ethos, and over the years the agency as a whole has built relationships with local schools, charities, churches, sports groups and other organisations. “We’re always looking for more events and organisations to sponsor, we’re trying to get more involved,” Laura tells me. “We’re absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the very first Clapham Common Fun Dog Show; an event that encourages the whole community to come together to support the regeneration of their green
Building a genuine, lasting rapport with our community is important to us space,” Beth Gwilliam, marketing and events coordinator at Marsh & Parsons, describes. “Supporting local initiatives and building a genuine, lasting rapport with our community is important to us. However, it’s much more than just giving money; we have a dedicated events team providing expertise in planning and ideas, designing and printing of promotional artwork, advertising and event attendance – we’re partners from start to finish.” On the day, visitors, both human and canine, can expect to see stalls offering information, food and equipment. There will be a dog artist, face painting, a beer tent, Punch & Judy show and a fire engine for the little ones to explore. Also, Battersea
- 66 -
Dogs & Cats Home will have a stall offering free microchipping, as will The Dogs Trust, which will give helpful information regarding the care of your pet and Dog Buddy will be dishing out tips on grooming. But the highlight of the day is sure to be the show itself. It’s set to be opened by the Mayor of Lambeth and will feature 11 canine classes, a mixture of serious and fun categories into which dogs will be entered, and compèred by TV producer and raconteur Jeremy Swan. Just before I leave, I ask Laura to sum up why she thinks locals should attend. “People should go to the dog show, because it’s going to be a really fun day. It’s a good family event and geat way to meet local residents. If you’re four years old or 94 years old, you’ll enjoy it.” So take her advice, and get those tails wagging.n
Free, 4 October, 12noon-5.30pm. The Fun Dog Show costs £2 entry for each class and will take place at 2pm. marshandparsons.co.uk
