SIZING GUIDE AND BOOT CARE
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF LEATHER WORK BOOTS TO GAIN OPTIMUM LIFE AND PERFORMANCE FROM THEM
• Leather work boots go into a multitude of work environments where conditions vary markedly from dry indoor/outdoor environments to harsher wet, muddy, caustic areas where the maintenance or non-maintenance of boots will determine how they will perform and how long they last.
• If leather boots are regularly cleaned and maintained, they will ultimately last longer than boots that are just left to do the job in all conditions.
• A maintenance regime where muddy/ wet boots are dried at room temperature where mud and debris is brushed off when dry and a leather conditioning agent such as Bees Wax or Nikwax will prolong the life of the boot, help provide water resistance and reduce the chances of leather splitting and cracking. Never force dry boots by heaters, fires, hot water cylinder cupboards etc. These drying methods force the leather fibres to shrink and break therefore reducing the life of the boot.
• Where boots are in dry/dusty conditions, leather should be also conditioned to help keep the leather supple and resistant to the elements and to help prevent early deterioration.
• Follow a maintenance regime for your working footwear to gain best performance from them. Wet leather will stretch and weaken, shrink and become hard and brittle as it dries.
• Always remember when selecting boots be careful to get the right size boots and to wear quality socks to avoid blisters and to have healthy feet.
