welcome Welcome! The St. Tammany Home Builders Association is proud to present its 2013 Parade of Homes. What a difference a year makes. When I wrote this last year, we were trying to sustain a modest recovery after the economic downturn of the past few years. As I write this today, the market seems as hot as it has been since after Hurricane Katrina. We feel that our offering this year, which is comprised of 21 homes throughout the parish, demonstrates different architectural styles, new and exciting technologies as well as differing techniques of building. We are confident that whether you are in the market for a new home or just searching for ideas to update your existing home, you will find something that suits your desires. As for us, the St. Tammany Home Builders Association is a professional organization representing the residential housing industry, serving our members and the community since 1977. We have dedicated ourselves to: being the voice of the residential housing industry . enhancing the climate and protecting the business interests of the membership . promoting quality, affordable housing . educating members and the public as to industry business and association goals . promoting ethical and professional standards for the industry . being a responsible citizen through active community involvement One of our projects, which demonstrates our dedication to community involvement, is our 2013 “Raising the Roof for Charity” Raffle House (built by Hurley Homes, LLC). The Raffle House, as it is commonly referred, will also double as the Parade of Homes Information Center, so please stop by and take a look at this property (and hopefully buy a ticket). We will be raffling off the house on June 1st. Proceeds from the event will benefit four local charities. To date this event has put over $4.3 million dollars back in the hands of local charitable organizations. We invite you to tour each of our homes and talk with the builders and their representatives. President’s message The St. Tammany Home Builders Association welcomes you to the 2013 Parade of Homes. Since 1979, the St. Tammany Parade of Homes has provided the public with a unique opportunity to educate themselves about fresh new approaches in the building industry. This year we have over 20 new homes for viewing built by some of St. Tammany’s premier Builders. These homes will incorporate the latest trends and materials available. The Association and the Parade of Homes Builders work year round to make the Parade our premier event of the year and we are excited you have decided to join us. Because we have thousands of visitors each year, our Builders put their best foot forward and they are happy to answer all of your questions while viewing the homes. Raising the Roof for Charity Raffle House Y

ears ago the Board of Directors of the St. Tammany Home Builders Association (STHBA) decided they wanted a way to give back to the community that provided them with their livelihood. From that idea, the “Raising the Roof for Charity” Raffle House was born. In 1994, the first ever Raffle House (as it is often called) was built in St. Tammany Parish. After all the expenses of the project were paid, the remaining funds were divided among predetermined local charities. This annual event has generated over $4.3 million that has been donated to local charities. Now on their 18th home, members of the St. Tammany Home Builders Association continue to join together to build a home of exceptional quality while provide much needed funds to deserving, local charities. One of our perennial sponsors has always been Resource Bank. ••• (Raffle House) from page 10 The 2013 Raffle House will benefit 4 deserving local partner charities: The Good Samaritan Ministry Habitat for Humanity-St. Tammany West St. Tammany Hospital Foundation Tammany Trace Foundation The mission of the Good Samaritan Ministry is to provide immediate financial assistance to those experiencing dire circumstances while connecting them to case management agencies that can provide long term assistance. Habitat for Humanity-St. Tammany West is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by building simple, decent and affordable housing. In addition to monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest 300-400 hours of “sweat equity” into building their home and the homes of others, as well as attend homeowner education classes. At St. Tammany Hospital Foundation, they believe that “Keeping St. Tammany Parish Hospital Healthy, Keeps Our Community Healthy.” The Foundation was established to sustain the healing work of the physicians and staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital which receives no tax funding. The Tammany Trace Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the Tammany Trace, which runs 28 miles and connects 5 communities. The Trace Foundation works with all the communities along the trace to enhance the many diverse cultures and to unite the surrounding areas. This year’s “Raising the Roof for Charity” Raffle House will once again double as the St. Tammany Parade of Homes Information Center.
