United States released the second Full-length album

Follow a Song from the Sky on August 13, 2021. For Chicago-based musician Luca Cimarusti, black metal held the appeal that lures so many listeners into its caustic wavelengths—it exuded the power and primal spirit of metal with the no-frills delivery and raw performance of punk. The added element of the genre’s fixation on mystery and fantasy, and the way so many artists in the field were shrouded in a veil of their own creation, was an added bonus. It was with these sonic, stylistic, and performative attributes that prompted Cimarusti to develop his own black metal project, Annihilus, back in 2019. Where the project once provided a refuge of self-reliant creativity, the toils of the last year imbued the project with an even greater urgency and gravity. With his sophomore album Follow a Song From the Sky, Cimarusti continues to mine the atmospheric essence of black metal while pushing the stylistic, thematic, and emotional boundaries of the genre.

Viking/Folk Black Metal band from Germany released the fifth Full-length album Wielandstahl on September 24, 2021. «Surturs Lohe» translates to «Surtur’s blaze». In Nordic mythology Surtr is the leader of the fire giants and the ruler of Muspelheim, the realm of fire. Surturs Lohe can look back on 5 albums since their 25th anniversary, a split CD and many successful concerts. They are a constant size of the Thuringian Pagan Metal scene & some members of Surturs Lohe are also in other Pagan Metal bands like MENHIR, ODROERIR and FIMBULVET. On „Wielandstahl“ Surturs Lohe present nine songs, that could not be more epic and primeval. This is old school Thuringian Pagan Metal. High velocity riffing is contrasted with mighty choirs and folky use of the flute embellishes acoustic guitar arrangements, reminiscent of early works of Ulver. Lyrically „Wielandstahl“ is an interpretation of the story of Wieland, the blacksmith. On „Wielandstahl“ the band reminds us of stories from days long gone, presenting them in a soundscape consisting of epic melodies, elated rhythms but also speedy passages. Tracklist 1.
