Rewards Recognition Scheme Explained

Page 1

What is the RUSU Rewards & Recognition Scheme? All societies are part of Rewards & Recognition – a scheme designed to encourage your society to engage with RUSU and celebrate all the hard work you undertake throughout the year. You will receive points for all sorts of activities: from increasing membership numbers and attending meetings organised by RUSU, to taking part in Give it a GO Week and running events in collaboration with other societies. Activities are awarded different points, depending on the amount of work involved in organising them. An up-to-date list of the criteria that will result in points being awarded is included in a table at the end of this document. You can start accruing points for your society from the start of the summer term, on the basis that you have met the following criteria: 

President, Secretary and Treasurer to have attended committee training

Provide up to date copies of your committee’s contact details (name, email address and phone number)

Have a signed constitution for 2013/14

Have a signed behaviour policy for 2013/14

Have a risk assessment for your societies activities

Once you have confirmed with the Societies and Media Co-ordinator that you have met these criteria, you can begin to accrue points. If you feel your society should be awarded points, you will need to provide the Societies and Media Co-ordinator with evidence (emails, photographs, a letter, invoices and on on). Societies will be rated on a star system; according to the number of points they have been awarded.

How will societies be recognised and rewarded? Your societies point’s score will be regularly updated on the RUSU website, enabling you to compare your point’s scores with other societies. Your points score will be converted to a star rating at the end of each year, based upon the average points accumulated by societies.

All societies will be issued with a logo according to their star rating which you can display on your Freshers’ Fayre stand, on your part of the RUSU website, and other promotional material. Those societies with the most points will receive the accolade of being named 5 star societies. Before the annual Societies awards ball, the Rewards and Recognition scheme will close and the societies with the greatest number of points will receive awards. The points your society has secures up until the Ball will influence allocation of freshers’ fayre stands in the following October. The scheme will re-open at the start of the summer term so that your new committee can begin to accrue points for the coming year.

Use of the Rewards and Recognition Logo Societies awarded 3, 4 or 5 star status as part of the Rewards and Recognition scheme are free to display the logo on promotional material, website pages and on social media; but must not modify or tamper with the logo design. Action will be taken by the Student Activities Team if societies alter the logo, or are found to be using a logo they have not been awarded.

If you have any questions about the scheme and how it works, or want help achieving points; please contact the Societies and Media Co-ordinator. (v.purcell@reading.ac.uk)
