ABOUT RUSU Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is a democratic, student-led organisation here to guide and help you make the most of your student experience whilst studying at the University of Reading (UoR). As a student at the UoR you are automatically a member of RUSU, entitling you to have a say in directing the organisation.
Students elect five Full-Time Officers each February to represent them and run RUSU for the following academic year. As RUSU is a separate organisation, when working with the UoR we are unbiased on issues affecting students. We campaign for the changes you as our members want to see.
OUR MISSION RUSU’s ambition is to deliver what students want in an accountable, inclusive and dynamic way to enhance their University experience, with integrity at our core. We want to give you, our 17,000+ members, the best possible University experience. To stay true to our mission we will frequently measure our own impact and share all information with you, our members.

CHANGE IT! ADVICE SERVICE RUSU offers an independent, free and specialist advice service for all students. Our team of advisers provide confidential advice and support in four key areas: money, housing, academic and welfare matters. With our help students have been able to save over £103,000 !

Change It! is RUSU’s online ideas platform. Any Reading student can submit an idea to Change It! and decide what campaigns they want to see RUSU work on, by voting for their favourite ideas.

CAMPAIGNING RUSU campaigns to create positive change that students want to see. Campaigning is led by RUSU’s elected Student Officers. Some of RUSU’s most successful campaigns have included fixed international student tuition fees and lobbying the University to stop investing in fossil fuel companies.

Academic Reps are elected students who represent you and your views on academic issues. Course Reps and School Reps work alongside the Education Officer to ensure the student voice is being heard by the University and positive changes are being made to teaching & learning processes throughout every department.

RUSU’s Diversity Officer supported by 9 elected Part-Time Officers (PTOs), supports underrepresented groups on campus. Our PTOs campaign for positive change on behalf of LGBT+, BAME, Women, Disabled, International, Mature and Postgraduate students.
