Come cultivate your abilities as a beekeeper! This two-day hands-on instructional program is designed as the next step for apiarists who have knowledge of the industry and have kept a colony for at least one (1) full year. Attend morning lectures in the classroom and spend afternoons in the bee yard applying the methods learned earlier in the day. Featured Course Topics • IPM for honey bees • Methods and equipment for moving honey bees • Feeding methods and equipment • Honey removal methods • Small-scale queen and nuc production Attendees should have a general knowledge of the language and terminology of beekeeping as well as a basic understanding of the biology of honey bees. Fundamentals of beekeeping will not be covered. (See Bee-ginner’s Beekeeping.) You will be working with LIVE bees. Be aware that there is a small risk of bee stings occurring during the program. Instructor, Bob Hughes, is a sideline beekeeper with over 25 years of beekeeping experience. Instructor, Tim Schuler, currently serves as State Apiarist with the NJ Department of Agriculture, and has 22 years of beekeeping experience. NOTE: Continental breakfast is provided both days. You are on your own for
lunch. Box lunches are available for an additional $20. To order, please indicate your request with your registration, and include the additional $20 payment. Vegetarian option available. Please advise of any other dietary restrictions.

Our Bee-ginner’s Beekeeping program is a two and a half-day program designed to provide the necessary information needed for new beekeepers to start and care for a honey bee colony. The ďŹ rst two days will cover basics of bee biology, equipment, seasonal hive management, queen bee purchasing, diseases, New Jersey regulations and more. The course concludes with a third, half-day handson program that will include honey extraction, equipment assembly, hive production and organizations and publications.
