FAMILY PORTRAIT SESSION FAQ’s

What can we expect from our family portrait session? A family portrait session is about having fun and capturing genuine interactions between you and your family. My goal is that you feel comfortable enough to forget I am there so that you fall into the presence of being a family and bonding for a fun and memorable experience. Where do we go? Your photoshoot can take place in a location chosen by you, at your home, or I can suggest a gorgeous spot. Having space to interact, play & walk is always an advantage! Some families like to choose a location where they can do something fun together - for example strawberry picking, having coffee or a picnic. What if I hate having my photograph taken? Cheesy or awkward moments do not belong in this session! I will equip you with a number of tools, tips and tricks to ensure you look fabulous and have a fun session. What is the best time to scedule the shoot? I like to use natural light and so try to avoid harsh midday sun. Morning or evening is ideal for light. If you have children choose the time that they are at their best! What should we wear? Wear something that you & your family feel fabulous and comfortable in! It can be an advantage to avoid strong patterns so the focus is on you and not the clothing - but rules are made to be broken! If your child has a costume or dress up outfit they love bring that along too! What should we bring? Please bring anything your child enjoys playing with - a favourite toy or costume etc. Any food or drink your child (or you!) might need for sustainance , or in some cases, for bribery ;) Which of your packages should we purchase? The full family portrait has unlimited photographing time. This takes the pressure of kids (or adults!) who might need a bit more time to warm up in front of the camera and gives you some extra time for breaks or non camera time if necessary. The extended family shoot is for more than one family grouping- for example grandparents/kids/grand kids. The minishoot is perfect for kids who will only cope with a small time frame in front of the camera as this is only 30 minutes.

NEWBORN PORTRAIT PACKAGES

Newborn portrait session

$550

This includes: • Up to 2 hours photographic coverage in a location of your choice. • Online gallery of images to choose your favourites. • 30 full resolution images for printing, additional images can be purchased for $10 each View a newborn portrait session here and my newborn portrait gallery here. NOTE: Some travel costs may apply, please check with Ruth when making your booking. Over the years I’ve refined my approach to photographing newborns from highly posed to more natural ‘lifestyle’ images. I no longer contort or decorate, rather I let newborns be newborns and capture the beautiful little fleeting details that make your baby, your baby. Along with some beautiful shots of the baby on its own I will also capture the parents and any other family members interacting naturally with the baby along with a few directed shots. Most of the time this shoot will take place in your home environment (don’t worry doesn’t have to be tidy!!) but on location is an option too!

DAY IN THE LIFE SESSION

FAQ’S

What is a day in the life shoot and why would I choose this style of shoot over a traditional family portrait shoot? Day in the Life sessions document your family’s everyday life in your home. Many people feel more comfortable in their own home and consider this a meaningful place to have their shoot. During my time with your family I photograph in an unintrusive way and work as a fly on the wall. For some people uncomfortable with the camera this style of photography appeals more than a regular ‘posed’ style of shoot. How does it work? Pretty simply, I turn up at your home. I’ll document what I see and do my best to represent your family as you are. These sessions are unscripted. Wear whatever you want. You don’t need to clean your house. Just go about your day as you normally would. There will be good moments, tender moments, hilarious moments, and maybe even tantrums and I will capture it all! Why is a day in a life shoot more expensive than a regular shoot? I take significantly more photos on a day in the life shoot than I would during a normal family photo shoot. Within your home I am working in an uncontrolled lighting situation which means a longer editing and culling process after the shoot. Does a day in the life shoot have to be at my house? Generally these sessions occur at the family home. However, I am happy to shoot at any place that holds significance to you, for example a family bach or grandparents home.

MATERNITY SESSION

FAQ’S

What can we expect from our maternity session? Natural, fun & non cheesy photographs that make you look gorgeous and show off that belly! When is the best time in my pregnancy to have my maternity shoot? 30 to 35 weeks is perfect for most Mums to be. This is a time frame where your beautiful belly is of ample size yet you’re not as “puffy” and uncomfortable as you may be in your last 4 to 5 weeks. Though I have shot maternity sessions up close to delivery with beautiful results, feedback from expecting Mums has encouraged me to advise clients towards the earlier side where mamas-to-be are feeling their best and are more comfortable than they may be later. Where do we go? Your photoshoot can take place in a location chosen by you, at your home, or I can suggest a location that suits you. Having space to interact & walk is always an advantage! If you are bringing along a child, some families like to choose a location where they can do something fun together - for example strawberry picking or a picnic. Should I be concerned about stretch marks and the extra weight I’ve gained? I understand that you may be concerned about stretch marks and feel a little bigger all over, however please don’t worry! I will equip you with a number of tools, tips and tricks to ensure you look fabulous - flattering poses & camera angles are all complimentary as part of your session! What should we wear? Wear something that you feel fabulous and comfortable in. Avoid baggy clothing, a form fitting garment is great so as not to lose the shape of that gorgeous belly!
