Romantic rendezvous or girls’ night out, find the perfect look for Valentine’s Day Whether you’ll be dining out with a new love, sharing a romantic dinner at home, or enjoying a night out with your besties, you’ll want to look great on Valentine’s Day. Creating just the right look doesn’t have to be overwhelming; a few simple tips, tricks, tools and techniques can help you wow your Valentine’s Day companion. Your makeup will be the crowning touch to any outfit you choose. Start with the right tools, like the Lovely Looks set from EcoTools, a leader in eco-conscious beauty products that is best-known for its incredibly soft cosmetic brushes. The set features everything you need to create a complete look, including a foundation brush designed with pointed-tip bristles for precise coverage, a shadow brush for even, accurate application of color to the eyes, a flat eyeliner brush to define your eyes using your favorite liner, an angled blush brush to sweep color over cheeks, and a powder brush to set makeup for a long-lasting hold. Follow this step-by-step guide to create three great Valentine’s Day looks. Romantic This Valentine’s Day, try cooking up a romantic dinner for two at home. Enjoy a nice meal and a bottle of bubbly without having to step out the door. For a night like this, think voluminous hair, flawless skin, flirty lashes and an irresistible glow. Begin by creating a flawless base. Use your foundation brush to apply a BB cream or foundation over your entire face. Set using a powder brush to dust a light or translucent powder over your face. For eyes, use soft colors in browns or beige to keep eyes looking natural. Using the shadow brush, apply a light taupe to your lids, and define the crease with a darker brown shade using the same brush. Using the flat eyeliner brush, line lids with a soft black or dark brown hue, then use the brush to gently smudge the outer half to create a subtle, cat-eye effect. Add a rosy pink blush to the apples of your cheeks using the angled
blush brush for an alluring, feminine flush. Red is the color of romance, and when it comes to lips, it’s always a safe bet if you are looking to turn things up a notch. Line your lips with a dark cherry red and then fill in the entire lip with liner to ensure the color lasts. Layer a matching red lipstick over the liner to deepen the color. Finally, trace your Cupid’s Bow (the two curves on the upper lip) and the area just under your lower center lip with a highlighter to create a plumping effect. Sultry Ensure your date can’t take his eyes off of you by creating a sexy, smoky eye that’s sophisticated and smoldering. The effect works with any color palette, so choose one that complements your wardrobe, your natural coloring and your sense of style. You can stick with traditional grays and blacks, play safe with neutrals or get daring with color, as long as you have three shades to work with. Prep the eyelid with primer to ensure color stays in place; then sweep your most neutral or lightest hue over the entire lid using the shadow brush. Use the tip of the same brush to contour the crease of your eyes with a color that’s a few shades darker than the lid color. With the flat eyeliner brush, apply the darkest shade around the outer edges of the eye and under the lower lash line to create a doe-eyed look. Blend all pigments together using the medium shade so that they fade into each other seamlessly. With the lightest shade, highlight your brow bone and inner corners of the eye to help open them up. Use your flat eyeliner brush and a black powder or gel liner to line both the upper and lower third of your lash line. Complete your sultry eyes with several coats of mascara to both top and bottom lashes for extra drama. Next, create the perfect backdrop for your stunning eyes with a full coverage foundation. Use the foundation brush to evenly apply and then set with a translucent power
using the powder brush. Add bronzer just under your cheekbones with the angled blush brush, then add blush just above the bronzer and highlighter just above that to create a sculpted look. Finish off with a neutral lip to not distract from your amazing eyes. Playful Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all about romance. Girls just want to have fun and look good while doing it, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate friendships by going out with your girlfriends. Try experimenting with color for a playful, upbeat look. Begin with a good foundation applied with the foundation brush; then set it with the powder brush to prevent shine. The angled blush brush does double duty to define cheeks with a bronzer and blush combination. Create sky-high cheekbones by adding a shimmery highlighting hue to the tops of cheeks. Make your facial features pop by filling in brows using the flat eyeliner brush. Using the shadow brush, cover your lids with a wash of shimmery bronze; then line lower lashes with a bright blue or green liner. Finish the look by adding two coats of mascara to create lush lashes, and add a simple wash of coral to make lips look inviting and kissable.
No, I don’t think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That’s what’s wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how. -Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) Gone With The Wind

3 easy steps to sweeten someone’s Valentine’s Day Nearly everyone has more than one special person in their life. Whether it’s a neighbor who lets the dog out, the friend who watches the kids in a pinch or a colleague who makes Mondays a little more bearable, loved ones make our days better. A simple thank you or a small thank you gift can go a long way in showing those people just how much you appreciate them. A recent survey revealed that most people do have multiple “loves” in their lives. In fact, significant others aren’t the only ones who get Valentine’s Day gifts these days. This survey, which was commissioned by Rich Products, a leading provider to foodservice, in-store bakery and retail marketplaces, showed that Valentine’s Day now extends way beyond that one special person. Forty four percent of people said that they purchase gifts for multiple people on Valentine’s Day. When asked to identify their “other loves,” friends were at the top of the list; and surprisingly, among their favorite gifts were fresh baked goods ranging from cookies, cupcakes and other sweet treats. So to sweeten your relationships all year round, small thank you gifts are both welcomed and appreciated.
And keep in mind it’s not the size of the gift that matters. Survey results show that good things come in small, personalized packages.Give the gift of deliciousnessTo get started, remember showing your appreciation doesn’t have to be expensive and time consuming. Gifts can be purchased on your weekly (or daily) trip to the grocery store then personalized and decorated with things that you have around the house. You can stock up on these inexpensive supplies at your local craft store. Here are some simple, low-cost steps to show someone you care: Step 1: Visit the bakery department in your local grocery store for a variety of fresh and delicious options. From frosted cookies, to cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and doughnuts, you’ll find a treat to please everyone on your list - and there’s no baking involved. Step 2: Personalize each gift by selecting a baked good and using basic art or wrapping supplies (think ribbon spools and tissue paper leftover from Christmas) that you have around the house to dress up your gifts. Step 3: Attach a personalized, handwritten note on a piece of construction paper or cardstock.
Cut the paper to size, punch a hole to thread a ribbon through and tie it to your gift.Other ideas for a quick and easy do-it-yourself ways to dress up your gift: * Homemade gift bags: Cut hearts out of construction paper and glue onto a lunch bag. * Decorative plates: Find inexpensive, seasonal or colored ceramic plates at your local discount store and wrap with cellophane and
a bow. * Sweet surprise: Grab a small gift box, place some tissue inside, add your selected baked good and tie with a colored bow. Make sure that the baked good is secure in the box. You don’t want it to crumble. For more simple and creative gifting and packaging ideas, visit the Bakery Because Pinterest board at www.pinterest.com/bakerybecause.

Founded in 1936 by the City of Santa Ana through a bequest from Charles and Ada Bowers, the Bowers Museum is one of California’s finest and Orange County’s largest museums. In 1986, the museum closed its doors for a period of self-study. In response to community needs and input, it reopened in 1992 as a new cultural center, and expanded children’s programming in 1994 with the opening of the Kidseum. The museum also recently celebrated the grand opening of the 30,000+ square-foot Dorothy and Donald Kennedy Wing in February 2007. To achieve its mission, the Bowers offers exhibitions, lectures, art classes, travel programs, children’s art education programs, and other special community programs. The Wait is Over! Disney’s NEWSIES Makes Its Long Anticipated Costa Mesa Premiere Disney’s NEWSIES will play an exclusive two-week premiere engagement at Segerstrom Center for the Arts with performances May 17 - 29, 2016 in Segerstrom Hall. Individual tickets for NEWSIES start at $25 and may be purchased online at SCFTA.org, the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or by calling (714) 556-2787. For inquiries about group tickets for 10 or more, call the Group Services office at (714) 755-0236. The 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, May 28, 2016 will include audio description, open captioning and sign-language interpretation. ABOUT NEWSIES NEWSIES, the new American musical, features a Tony® Awardwinning score with music by eighttime Academy Award® winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein and is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, NEWSIES is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award® for his work. The entire creative team has reunited to bring the break-out smash musical to audiences across North America. When it opened on March 29, 2012 NEWSIES was intended for a Broadway run of just 101 performances. The show’s fiercely devoted fans had other ideas, however; they propelled the show to a run of 1,005 performances, attendance of more than 1 million and a gross of over $100M. While on Broadway, NEWSIES set and broke seven Nederlander Theatre house records and became the highest-grossing show from the 2011-12 Broadway season. The show received 23 major theatrical nominations – including eight Tony Award nods – and won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged
band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. NEWSIES is inspired by the reallife ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers. The stage version introduces seven brand-new songs by the original team of Menken and Feldman, including a song written specifically for the tour called ‘Letter from the Refuge,’ while keeping many of the beloved songs from the film, including ‘Carrying the Banner, ‘Seize the Day,’ ‘King of New York’ and ‘Santa Fe.’ Since the film’s 1992 theatrical release and subsequent DVD release, NEWSIES has grown into
a cult phenomenon, and for years had been the single most requested title of all the Disney musical films not yet adapted for the stage. (The film featured a screenplay by Bob Tzudiker & Noni White (Tarzan, 102 Dalmatians). For more information, visit NewsiesTheMusical.com, Facebook. com/Newsies and Twitter.com/ Newsies. The Costa Mesa engagement of NEWSIES is presented by arrangement with Segerstrom Center for the Arts and is a subscription offering of the Broadway and Curtain Call Series. A tisket a tasket a Valentine’s Day basket: 5 ways to send a message of love Valentine’s Day is a time for building memories and connections with your child to show the special people in your life you care. With so many options for gifts and little ways to show how you feel, it’s hard to decide where to start... and why limit the fun? This year, start a new tradition by creating a basket full of treats and fun activities your whole family will love. Hershey is making Valentine’s Day unforgettable this year with family-fun filled treats to create lasting memories and help you send a “message of love” to your other Valentine - your kids - with baskets full of new and classic treats. From candy to baked goods to activities you can do together, here are five basket themes you can consider to help send a message of love this Valentine’s Day! Scavenger Hunt Basket Show your playful side and include written clues in a basket full of goodies to start a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt. Hide sweet treats around the house along with little messages of love, so when your loved ones find them, they will know you are always thinking of them. Or, simply hide new HERSHEY’S KISSES Conversation Candies featuring sayings such as “XOXO” and “BE MINE” on each foil (sold exclusively at Target) around the house. Telling someone how you feel couldn’t be easier when the chocolate
treats say it for you. Personalized Baskets Create a basket that helps celebrate your kids and everything that makes them unique. Add touches that show your child’s personality and create a personalized themed basket all about them. Include fun items that make their favorite activity more special - from festive colored pencils for the artist to a new baseball glove for the athlete, personalized baskets help make the celebration much more fun. Sweeten the deal with your child’s favorite treats such as new HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate; KIT KAT AND REESE’S Assortment Heart Box; JOLLY RANCHER Bites; or REESE’S Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures 7-oz. Heart Box. Playing Pretend Basket Reading is a great way to spend time with your kids. Make the simple gifts exciting again and fill a basket with your favorite books and corresponding props for your little cuties this Valentine’s Day. Read the books together and use the props to create sweet memories, reenacting your favorite parts of the story together. Spend Valentine’s Day playing pretend with your little ones - from discovering new worlds, befriending dragons to building fairy fortresses out of pillows, playing pretend will create special moments that will last a lifetime.
Fun and Games Basket Spending time with your loved ones is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Create a game night basket the whole family is sure to love. Make things a little more fun by creating your own game or playing an old classic using HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Hearts filled with Caramel as playing pieces. You can even play tic-tac-toe or checkers using HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Hearts and HERSHEY’S KISSES Milk Chocolates as the tokens. This Valentine’s Day basket is a sure what to make game night a whole lot sweeter. Sprinkle Your Valentine with Love Basket What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with an activity you can do together? Pull together a fun basket of goodies with different ingredients for a delicious baked good you can make together. Need inspiration? For the Love of Wine, as wine becomes more casual
Whether it’s relaxing at home, dining out at a restaurant or celebrating with friends and family, Americans are enjoying wine at a wider variety of occasions than ever before. In fact, 85 percent of frequent wine drinkers now believe that wine is equally appropriate for casual and formal settings alike. Today’s attitudes and behaviors toward wine drinking were recently captured in the second Gallo Consumer Wine Trends Survey, commissioned by E. & J. Gallo Winery. The survey of 1,000 frequent wine drinkers found that 82 percent enjoy between one and five glasses per week, which they enjoy at a wide range of occasions. “We are always glad to see Americans’ love of wine expand each year as they experiment with flavors, varietals and packaging formats,” said Stephanie Gallo, third generation family member and vice president of marketing at E. & J. Gallo Winery. “For more than 80 years, Gallo has strived for excellence and will continue its family tradition of crafting innovative wines that cater to Americans’ evolving wine preferences.” A more casual approach to wine suggests that shoppers are more likely to try new wines across a range of prices. In fact, more than one-third of survey respondents classified themselves as a “wine adventurer,” while only 3 percent of those surveyed self-identified as “wine snobs.” Exploring and experimenting More sipping occasions means more opportunities to try new wines. The top factors that inspire a frequent wine drinker to try something new are Page 18
recommendations from friends, family members and coworkers. Additionally, 86 percent of wine drinkers would be encouraged by a server, bartender or sommelier recommendation, followed closely by a recommendation from a wine store employee. Not surprisingly, millennials are more influenced by the digital world than older generations. Survey data shows that millennials are more likely to be encouraged to try a new wine if it is featured prominently and positively in the media or if it is recommended on social media. Selecting your sips The occasion itself still influences the wine choice for many. While wine drinkers identified Chardonnay as the most popular choice for casual gettogethers, Cabernet Sauvignon was most often the front-runner for formal environments. At the same time, sparkling wines are breaking out of formal occasions and becoming more popular for everyday moments. Interest in Rosé is also expanding beyond the peak summer months of June, July and August as more wine drinkers reach for blush wines in April and September. However, looks still matter in the wine aisle. Millennials are four times more likely than baby boomers to select a bottle of wine based on its label, frequently looking for personality and originality. Baby Boomers, by contrast, look for region of origin and tasting notes on the label. Thinking inside the box Mirroring the changes in wine drinkers’ shopping habits, the wine industry is thinking “inside the box” these days. Boxed wine has
The Coto de Caza News
evolved considerably in the minds of consumers, thanks in large part to its convenience. The extended freshness of boxed wine allows wine drinkers to enjoy it at their own pace and the box’s portability allows for easy transport to all types of occasions. In fact, 1 in 4 surveyed agree that boxed wine is best for large social gatherings and is becoming higher quality. Wine in a can is a relatively new concept that more than one-fourth of frequent wine drinkers expressed interest in trying – particularly for outdoor excursions. Among fans of alternative packaging, outdoor events remained the primary occasion for the use of these products, which also include mini bottles and tetra packs. “The increase in popularity of these new packaging options is undeniably making wine more portable, practical and possible to enjoy anywhere,” Gallo said. “A single-serve package, in particular, offers a convenient option for those who reluctantly grab a beer simply because it is easier.” Overcoming wine fears As wine culture becomes more approachable, common fears among wine drinkers are less prevalent. The survey found that fears, such as mispronouncing a wine’s name or being judged for wine choices, are still on the minds of some wine drinkers, but those who enjoy it regularly are not dramatically affected by these concerns. “As an industry, we must continue working to remove these barriers in order to nurture wine’s expansion into everyday occasions,” Gallo said. “By exploring the more emotional implications of wine culture and sharing these findings broadly, we
hope to welcome more people into wine.” Pairings for every occasion When it comes to food and wine pairings, the proper match can exponentially improve the eating experience – no matter what the occasion. The key is to choose wines and foods that complement each other in their components, richness and textures. To help get you started, Gallo Family Vineyards recommends the following pairings: • Fresh fish: Complement garlic butter baked salmon or another favorite fish with a glass of Chardonnay for its rich fruit flavor and lush texture, or Sauvignon Blanc for a more crisp finish. • Barbecue: Pair grilled items, such as shish kabobs, burgers or corn on the cob, with a Riesling for its vivid and sweet flavors. • Red meat: Enhance the robust taste of roast beef or grilled steak with Cabernet Sauvignon for its black fruit and spice notes. • Chicken: Serving an oven-roasted chicken with medium-bodied Pinot Noir will bring subtle flavors of cherry and sweet fruit. • Dessert: Complement a slice of cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberry or chocolate chip cookie with Moscato. The light-bodied, refreshing flavors of peach, honey and ripe citrus are a perfect match. • Pretty much anything: Rosé is often underappreciated when it comes to food pairings. From spicy Mexican to chicken salad, pecorino cheese and peach cobbler, it is an excellent option for dishes yearround. Photo courtesy of Getty Images

Newly dating to married for years: Top ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day for any relationship stage Whether you’re smitten after dating for only a month or your relationship has a soothing rhythm after many years of marriage, your affections deserve to be celebrated this Valentine’s Day. Finding the perfect way to say you care, however, is often easier said than done. Stop stressing and consider these top trends and unique gift ideas, all custom-fitted to the length of your relationship. The smitten kitten You’re infatuated with your new relationship and every time you go on a date, you get butterflies in your stomach. You just started dating a few weeks or months ago, but you want to make sure the day is extra special. Classic Valentine’s Day gestures are timetested ways to show you care. Start by sending gorgeous blooms to her - such as the Hugs and Kisses bouquet from ProFlowers that contains one dozen tulips and one dozen irises. For him, go for something more masculine he can put on his desk, like the Chinese Elm Bonsai from ProPlants. Complete the gesture by wrapping up a classic rom-com movie and plan an evening in to view it together. Give the gift along with a hand-written card when you see your new love in person - it’s sure to leave a lasting impression. Over-the-moon in love Lazy afternoons together, inside jokes and nicknames - you’re head over heels in love. This might be the person who you want to spend the rest of your life with, so you want to do something unique on Valentine’s Day.
Show your love how sweet you think he or she is with some decadent treats and a fun scavenger hunt. Plan it out at your house or another special location, writing hints for each step along the way on heart-shaped paper. This is a fun activity for both men and women. You can opt to have one big sweet gift at the end or hide small treats along the way with each clue. The top trends for decadent Valentine’s Day sweets can be found at Shari’s Berries. From Handmade Valentine’s Love Bug Brownie Pops to unforgettable gourmet dipped strawberries, Shari’s Berries will have your love smiling and swooning over the delicious treats. Honeymooners You’re recently married and still in the honeymoon phase. Planning your life together is an exciting journey and your one-of-a-kind love should be honored on Valentine’s Day. When shopping, look for gifts that can be used long after the day is complete. Check out Personal Creations for personalized items you won’t find anywhere else. Show your cheeky side with a fun canvas print perfect for the kitchen that says “You are the eggs to my bacon” with both your names in beautiful script. For him, a customized leather watch box with his initials is a sophisticated gift pair it with his favorite cologne or candy and he’ll grin from ear to ear. Personalized gifts will serve as a reminder of your love every day of the year! The endless flame
You’ve been with your partner for many years, but just because you’ve hit your stride doesn’t mean you’re any less infatuated with him or her than when you first fell in love. Keep your flame burning bright by planning an extra-special night at home for just the two of you. Get some snacks that pair well with your favorite bottle of wine and prepare for an intimate evening. Instead of running from store to store, order the Best With Wine gift basket from Cherry Moon Farms. Then, spend a few hours doing something that reminds you of why you are together. You might watch your wedding video or maybe the first movie you ever saw together when you were dating. Go through old photos and have fun reminiscing. These reminders of special moments demonstrate why your love is endless and are sure to make for a very special Valentine’s Day.
Spruce up your home in the new year Making a New Year’s resolution is common, and many people set goals for ways to improve themselves. If you have set a goal to lose weight, learn a new skill or get promoted, congratulations. But while you are striving to attain your personal goal, have you ever thought of setting a goal to refresh your home in a way that will have your friends talking? Setting a home improvement goal is more common than you may think and you can make a dramatic improvement to your home with a complete remodel. You can take on several smaller projects - any time of the year - that will leave you loving your home all year long. Here are a few ideas to get you going. * A fresh coat of paint. Nothing
reinvents a room like a fresh coat of paint. Yet many people put off painting a room because they can’t afford professional painters and they don’t have time to do the job themselves. But you can achieve that professional quality finish at a fraction of the time and cost by visiting RentalHQ.com and renting your own paint sprayer. Use your sprayer to add a neutral color, which provides visual appeal and works with most furniture patterns, leaving you plenty of decorating options. * Change hardware. Faucets and cabinet hardware can quickly date a room. Replacing hardware can add beauty to your kitchen without adding a lot of extra cost. Be sure to find knobs and pulls that are the same size as the existing ones so you don’t have to re-drill the cabinets. Do this for any furniture and in any room for an instant decor face-lift. * Replace old tile. Outdated tile can make a bathroom look old and dull. Replacing it with new tile that is in style will give the space a rich, modern look. Tiling is a DIY project that anyone can tackle with the right tools. Rent the necessary items like a tile stripper, a tile saw and a mortar mixer to keep your costs down. * Update curtains and blinds.
Textiles play a major role in the overall decorating scheme of a room. New window treatments offer an inexpensive way to introduce bold color and patterns for an instant refresh. Pair your new curtains with decorative throw pillows for a striking impact to the living room. * Recreate your flooring. If your carpet doesn’t need to be replaced but it could use a little refreshing, cleaning your carpets will do the trick. If you can’t afford to hire professional carpet cleaners or you feel like taking on the project yourself, renting
a carpet cleaner can give your carpets the professional look you’ve been dreaming of. And if you have hardwood floors that need to be refurbished, renting a floor sander is an excellent first step for this project. Home improvement projects do not have to include a complete overhaul to provide a new look. These smaller projects will dramatically improve your home all year long. To learn more about the tools you can rent for your next project and to see more ways those tools can help you, visit rentalhq.com.

5 unbelievably yummy, better-for-you breakfast ideas
Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but it can often be the one that’s hardest to fit into busy schedules. Even if you have time for breakfast, you may find yourself trading wholesomeness and quality for speed and convenience. However, having better-for-you breakfasts need not require a lot of time or effort. It can be as simple as making better and smarter choices. “One of my favorite breakfasts is a bagel with cream cheese, but when I was looking to make healthier choices, I thought this was too indulgent,” said New York Times best-selling author and food blogger Andie Mitchell. “In reality, it’s about moderation and eating a whole wheat bagel with a natural cream cheese is a guilt-free breakfast option I love.” Here are five wholesome, yet easy breakfast options that can start your day off on the right nutritional foot: Page 24
1. Better-for-you bagel and cream cheese Who doesn’t love a good bagel? They’re quick, convenient and delicious. They even have their own celebratory day - Feb. 9 is National Bagel Day. If you’ve been shying away from this traditional favorite thinking you don’t need all the carbs of bagels and the additives in most cream cheeses, it’s time to rethink your view. A whole grain bagel topped with a better-for-you spread, like Arla cream cheese, is a satisfying and delicious start to the day. Arla’s cream cheeses (Original, Light, Herbs & Spices, Peppercorn and Blueberry) are free of artificial flavors, preservatives, thickeners and stabilizers. Visit www.ArlaUSA.com to learn more and to discover unique topping combinations from Blueberry cream cheese with smashed berries to Peppercorn cream cheese with Canadian bacon and cooked egg whites. 2. A better breakfast burrito Classic breakfast burritos are filling, satisfying and nourishing, but unless you go the frozen route, you may not have the time to whip up a morning burrito. A faster, wholesome option awaits - simply top a whole-grain tortilla with your favorite Arla cream cheese, add fresh-sliced fruit such as kiwi, apple or banana, fold in half and enjoy! 3. Outstanding oatmeal As breakfast cereals go, oatmeal is a nutritional champ. A 1-cup serving of plain oatmeal has about 150 calories, and it’s loaded with nourishing fiber, protein and vitamin A. Add flavor with wholesome toppings like fresh berries, chopped apples, raisins or nuts. Here’s even better news - plain instant oatmeal has the same basic nutritional value as the kind you slow-cook yourself, according to the USDA’s Nutrient Database. However, be wary of
The Coto de Caza News
flavored versions that may have a lot of added sugar. 4. Terrific toasts A slice of toasted white bread slathered in butter isn’t sufficient for a good breakfast, but you can take toast to the next level and create a morning meal that’s tasty, wholesome and toasted. Start by toasting a slice of whole grain bread. Next spread on some protein - this could be a sugar-free peanut butter, almond butter or better-for-you cream cheese. Top with your favorite fruit or veggies. For example, banana slices go well with peanut butter; mango or kiwi cubes are yummy with light cream cheese; and tomato slices atop Arla’s Peppercorn cream cheese make for a great wake-up call! 5. Easier eggs Everyone knows eggs are a breakfast staple, but who has the time to prepare them in the morning when you’re trying to get everyone out the door? You do! The microwave is your morning best friend, from reheating your coffee to whipping up delectable, easy and wholesome egg breakfasts. You can make scrambled eggs in minutes. Just crack an egg into a microwave-safe cup, add a tablespoon of water or milk, a dash of cayenne pepper and some salt, and a teaspoon or two of your favorite veggie finely diced, such as scallions, tomatoes or mushrooms. Top with a generous spoonful of shredded Havarti or Gouda cheese and microwave everything for 45 seconds. Stir and microwave for another 45 seconds until the eggs are set. Breakfast doesn’t have to be time-consuming or a disappointing compromise. A few better-for-you breakfast options can set a healthful, happy tone for the rest of your day.

FAMILY FEATURES
dmiring the Statue of Liberty up close, hanging 10 in the Pacific Ocean or exploring Europe’s most charming cities are just some of the experiences that may rank high on your travel bucket list. Creating that list is just the beginning – the real fun begins when you start making your travel dreams a reality. Inspiring people to make those getaways happen is the goal of a new effort by Hilton Garden Inn, which is helping plant the seed for travelers to embark on their next great adventure. “Through the Garden Getaway Tour, we are reminding people of all the exciting possibilities available for their next trip,” said Judy ChristaCathey, vice president of global brand marketing, Hilton Garden Inn & Hampton by Hilton. “Trekking your way through a list of all your favorite places is a great way to feel peaceful and alive, whether you spend your time discovering new places or reconnecting with loved ones.” Get on your way to creating the travel experience of your dreams with these tips:
Great Getaway Destinations
Start planning your getaway to one of these top destination picks from the travel experts at Hilton Garden Inn: n The Colorado River at Yuma, Arizona: Spend a few days exploring the lake, spectacular scenery and canyons. n Everglades National Park, Florida: Explore one of the most unique ecosystems in the nation, and look for your chance to spot a manatee in the wild. n Krakow, Poland: Explore cultural attractions, such as the Cloth Hall, the world’s first shopping mall, or the Rynek Market and Kazimierz historical district.
Chart your course.
If you haven’t already, make a list of all the destinations you hope to see, and post it someplace prominent so you are reminded of your travel goals frequently. You may choose to prioritize your most desirable locations, or simply keep your ideas random so you can seize opportunities when they arise. For example, with its Garden Getaway Tour, Hilton Garden Inn is giving travelers the chance to win a getaway to Hawaii – a great way to check an island excursion off your list. Learn more at HGIGardenGetaway.com.
Be sensitive to the seasons.
Be aware that many destinations have peak seasons when the attractions they boast are in top demand. Crowds are heavier and prices are steeper, but on the flip side, there are more options for things to see and do. If avoiding the hustle is your ultimate goal, visiting out of season may be more your ticket.
Don’t ignore your own backyard.
Though the temptation may be strong to journey far and wide, when your time away is short, you don’t want to waste precious hours on travel. A bucket list excursion doesn’t have to take you far from home. In fact, you may be surprised by what you find when you seek out the hidden gems near home.

Check for special dates.
Rely on local experts.
Leave the beaten path.
Book accommodations wisely.
Set a leisurely schedule.
Document the adventure.
Timing your travel to coincide with unique local events is a way to make your visit extra special. The jovial vibe of a fair or festival in your dream destination only adds to the excitement. Check the local calendars for events that are sure to deliver fun eats and lots of quirky, good times. Look for a hotel that you can count on to deliver amenities and services that make your experience enjoyable – but know that doing so can be affordable. Options such as Hilton Garden Inn (hgi.com), with nearly 640 hotels worldwide, offer a Satisfaction Promise, along with all the amenities you need to remain comfortable and connected while on-the-go: full service restaurants, free wireless internet access, fully-loaded fitness centers and more.

The knowledgeable staff at Hilton Garden Inn can also be a resource when looking to do as the locals do. Once you arrive at your destination, stop by local visitor centers and ask what is unique to the region; there are some spectacular things to see that you can’t find in guide books. Save the frantic pace for the office, and leave your itinerary loose for your time away. If you must, plan one or two must-do activities each day, but give yourself permission to go with the flow. Wander and explore and take advantage of the freedom to pass the day at your own pace. Take in incredible new sights, sounds and flavors, and don’t allow your mind to be distracted by anything but having a good time.
In each new location you visit, challenge yourself to try something new. Whether you gather the courage to parasail for the first time or sample the unfamiliar flavors of a favorite local dish, test the limits of your comfort zone and create truly unique experiences as you make your way across the country, or even around the globe. Take time to collect photos and mementos representing all the places you visit. If scrapbooking isn’t your thing, consider a wall collage in your home office, or devise another way to capture all the memories you create along the way.

tried and true Valentine’s Day gifts like gorgeous fresh flowers are the best choice. Red roses are a classic choice that represent love and affection, but if she likes the classic with a twist, consider a bouquet of multi-color roses. Orchids, an exotic flower that has long been believed to be a natural aphrodisiac, are another popular option for a classic but on-trend floral gift. A dependable floral gifting site like ProFlowers will have numerous seasonal designs to choose from. For the trendsetter - Something sparkly always catches a trendsetter’s eyes. Gifts of jewelry are extremely popular and serve as a reminder of love every time she wears it. When shopping, keep in mind her favorite colors and design preferences. Natural stones and rich metals are on trend for 2014, so go for pearls, gold and stones like garnet and blue topaz. For the foodie - Is she always cooking up a surprise in the kitchen and watching the latest food-focused TV show? If that’s her, surprise the foodie with a Champagne toast this Valentine’s Day. Make it extra special by toasting with new Champagne flutes from RedEnvelope that feature

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 916-939-0772 for information regarding the trustee’s sale or visit this Internet Web site www.nationwideposting.com for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case 00000004722210. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site.
