Wedding Guestbook Ideas By J.C. Meeker Many couples these days are opting to do something a little more creative for their wedding guestbook. Instead of the traditional lined paper guestbook that people sign there names in, guests are asked to sign there names on something a little more unique. Check out these 37 cool wedding guestbook ideas. I have created a Pinterest board to help you visualize the idea and see how other people have brought these ideas to life. A Polaroid message guestbook would be a lot of fun for the guests to interact with. Frame a large blackboard and ask your guests to take a Polaroid photo of them and post the photo to the board and write a message. Ask your guests to write a message on a piece of paper and roll it up and place in a bottle. This message in a bottle guestbook would be great for a beach or nautical themed wedding. It would also make a great conversation piece for your home. A birthday calendar guestbook serves as a dual purpose. Ask your guests to sign their name to the date of their birth on the calendar. This also lets the couple know when everyone’s birthdays are and they can send a nice card to their guests on their birthday with an additional thank you for being a part of their lives. Ask your guests to sign some nice stones and keep them in a jar as an artistic display in the couples home or us them in a rock garden. Having your guests sign Christmas ornaments is a festive addition to a Christmas or winter wedding. These ornaments will be used to decorate the couples’s tree as they celebrate their first Christmas together as a married couple. Guests could sign large Champaign bottles and the happy couple could crack a bottle open on their upcoming anniversaries. What would even be nicer is to save the Champaign bottles for a milestone like their 10-year anniversary and share these bottles with some of the guests that originally signed them at their 10-anniversary party. Large monogram letters would make a great guestbook that could be hung in the couples home as a piece of art for one of their rooms. Plates are another idea that could be signed by guests and hung as an artistic display in their home. Paper butterflies punched out of paper can be signed and framed to make a really pretty piece of artwork. Be creative with the type of paper you use. I would highly recommend using scrapbook paper because the papers are typically treated so they do not fade. However, if you want to use something Page 2
like old sheet music you can purchase a can of archival spray that you can spray your papers with so that they will last for years to come. Also be creative with the shape. You do not have to use a butterflies, any shape that would look great framed in your home would be perfect. Guests could take photos of them with a Polaroid camera and place them in an already made scrapbook with a message to the happy couple. This is really awesome because at the end of the day you have a completed Polaroid photo scrapbook and the bride and groom didn’t have to do a thing to it. Keep the cover blank and later add a photo of the couple in their wedding attire or the wedding party or you could use an engagement photo as the cover. Advise cards are fun for the guests to fill out as an alternative to a guestbook. These cards could be stored in a wide variety of boxes and containers. The advice could be serious or funny. A nice way for each guest to give the bride and groom a personal message. Balloon picture is another really fun idea. A framed photo of a bride and groom holding a large number of balloons in which each guest will sign. Makes for a great piece to hang in their home. Asking your guests to sign quilting squares or completed quilt is a really unique idea. This quilt would look great in the new couples home. A globe that the guests could sign is another piece that would look great in a den or man cave. For those jet-setting couples this could be a fun addition to a travel themed wedding. Wine corks signed by guests are a

creative idea that could be stored in a really beautiful glass jar. Could be beautifully displayed in a Tuscan themed kitchen or a rustic room. A guestbook tree is a cute idea where guests hang cards they sign with messages on them. Large engagement or wedding photo would be a beautiful piece to have your guests sign and could be hung in a great room or family room of the couples home. Having an engagement scrapbook made with lots of extra room for signatures and messages would be another awesome guestbook idea. Wine bottles signed by guests can be set aside to be cracked open on the couples 1st, 5th, 10th, etc. anniversary. A monogrammed canvas board would be another awesome piece guests could sign and could later hang in the couples’ home. Guests could sign ceramic tiles that could be used in the home on walls, decorative pieces or furniture. I loved this peacock picture I saw on Pinterest where the guests sign the feathers of the bird. It would be really beautiful for a peacock themed wedding. A video guestbook is really fun for the guests and the bride and groom. This is fun for the couple to actually see their guests give them a message. Something they will cherish forever! A piece of art on canvas that might go with the theme of a room in their home would be a nice piece to have everyone sign. A guest blog is another fun high-tech idea. A computer can be set up for the
guests to jump on and leave a message. The fun part about this is that everyone can check out the blog and see what other wrote! Postcards signed by guests are a great idea for those designation weddings. Purchase post cards that have photos of area attractions and landmarks of the place the wedding is held. Ask guests to sign them with a message or advice. This would also be a nice idea for those couples that plan or would like to travel together. You could have postcards of places the couple has been or would like to visit together. These photo postcards would look beautiful compiled in a scrapbook. Another unique idea is to have a large butcher block, bar or counter top signed by guests to be installed in the couples home. A blank journal book would be a really nice idea for those that would like their guests to leave them messages and advice. This would look great as a personal coffee table book for the couple. Vinyl records are becoming more and more like a pieces of art. Ask guests to sign records and hang them in an artistic way on a wall of the couples home. Great for those couples with a passion for music. Having guests sign a guitar is a really cool idea. This could be displayed on a wall or nestled in the corner of a home. Large wooden music notes (monogrammed letters or letters the spell out a word) signed by guests would make a cool wall accent for any room.

Wedding Invitations: What’s the Difference Between Flat Printing, Thermography and Engraving? By Bellamy Vaught-Davis Wedding invitation costs for one hundred guests can vary widely-from just around one hundred dollars to several thousand. So, what’s the difference? Aren’t they all just paper and ink? Well, yes...and no. While the type of paper (or cotton, in some cases) can range in thickness, size and quality, there are only four options when it comes to how your invitations will be printed: letterpress, engraving, thermography and flat printing. Just as the quality of paper will affect your final invitation total, the way the invitations are actually printed can mean the difference between a three digit invite bill and a four digit one. Here are the differences in the main types of wedding invitation printing: Letterpress. This process is the oldest, most elegant and most expensive of the three--and for good reason. The wording for each set of invitations is arranged on a press, using the printer’s available fonts. This plate is then inked with the color(s) of ink you want, and the forced under high pressure against the blank invitation paper. The result
is a beautiful invitation--you should be able to feel the indented wording after the process has been completed. You’ll need to order a very heavy paper to create this effect (read: more expensive); thinner papers may tear during the printing process. Engraving. The end result of this process creates an invitation with raised lettering, rather than indented letter in letterpress. The creation process is similar, but even more individualized, as the invitation wording is carved on a metal plate rather than being composed with moveable type as in letterpress. You get to keep the plate at the end of the process, which makes for a neat, if unnecessary, wedding keepsake. The plate is heated behind the paper, forcing the lettering up. At the same time, ink is forced on top of the raised lettering, creating an elegant and distinctive look. This process also requires a heavy paper to withstand the heating and inking process. One benefit? There are far more options on fonts and spacing than with letterpress. T h e r m o g r a p h y. A r e y o u a champagne bride on a beer budget? Then, thermography may be the
ticket for you. This process is highly computerized, which equates to a lower end cost. The wording of your invitation is placed into the computerized printing system, and the press creates your wording on the paper with a type of very hot adhesive. The ink pigmentation is then forced down onto the adhesive and then quickly dried. The end result is a raised invitation that would fool all but the most seasoned of wedding invitation lovers. You can tell a thermography invite by the shininess of the ink and the lack of indentation
on the back of the invite. Flat-printing. The most economical of the four, flat-printing creates an invitation that is completely smooth on the back and front. The process by which these invites are created are similar to that which occurs on your home computer: ink is laid down in lines or pixels by a printer and then dried. This process allows for the most customization of fonts, colors and spacing since the design is done exclusively on the computer. Happy invitation shopping!

Modern wedding trends that are building new traditions. New times, new traditions: Modern wedding trends from stock-the-bar parties to social networking sites. As you gear up to celebrate the union of your beloved family or friends - or even your own - know what to expect from the changing tides of weddings. Lizzie Post, co-author of “Emily Post’s Etiquette, 18th edition” and great-great-granddaughter of Emily Post, helps couples navigate the new traditions of weddings. The Post name has been synonymous with proper etiquette and manners for the past 80 years. As decades pass, so will traditions, but proper etiquette is timeless. Be prepared for the next wedding you attend and know what to expect from changes in the wedding landscape with these important pieces of advice: Pay it forward Finding the right gift for the newlyweds can be difficult. While registries help to point guests in the right direction, many couples are getting married later in life and already have all the household items that are common wedding gifts. To provide the couple with a small nest egg to use however they wish, a check is always a great and safe gift Page 4
idea. Several financial institutions, like Bank of America, offer mobile check deposit through their banking app, allowing the couple the flexibility to deposit checks on-the-go to help cover outstanding vendor payments or use on their honeymoon. Another new-age trend is contributing to a couple’s honeymoon fund. Temper tech use Even weddings are going hitech. There are numerous websites available that can help the couple to organize the process, communicate with guests and share photos after the ceremony. But a few things - like a handwritten “thank you” note - should steer clear of the hi-tech lure. In a gadget-driven society, everyone is carrying a smartphone. Couples can post a tasteful notice at the entrance of the ceremony location or in the program to remind guests to turn off their cell phone ringers and refrain from use during the ceremony. Some couples may actually encourage guests to take photos and share images via social media, but guests should respect their wishes and use phones only as a camera and upload images after the ceremony. Respect personalization Couples want their special day to

reflect who they are and what is important to them. While p r e v i o u s generations traditionally wed in places of worship, many modern couples choose to tie the knot at a sentimental location, like where they had their first date. The decor, music and even the food and drink served at a wedding may have a personal story behind it. No matter how nontraditional the element may be, guests should eagerly partake in the festivities, acknowledging and respecting the couple’s individualization. Be all-inclusive In the past, bridal showers were strictly for the bride and bachelor parties were a men-only affair. Nowadays, these festivities are no longer gender-specific. Showers can be thrown for the couple in unison and include creative themes like “stock the bar” or “time of day.” Bachelor and bachelorette parties can also be conjoined to involve the entire bridal
party in a destination event. And while these events are a celebration of joy, expenses can add up quickly. If you use a rewards card, like the BankAmericard Travel Rewards credit card, you can earn points on purchases to pay for all or part of your trip. This is great for both the bride and groom and guests traveling to the wedding. As trends and expectations shift, so will the way major life milestones are celebrated. It is important to celebrate these moments in life with grace and support for the happy couple - after all, it’s their day - and it should be as unique as they are. By J.C. Meeker Traditional wedding bouquets are beautiful. The flowers in the bouquets that coordinate with the dresses add to the elegance of a wedding. More and more we now see couples trying to be different adding unique special touches to their wedding to make them personal and even more memorable. A great way to do this is to trade the traditional flower bouquet for something a little different. Some alternatives could be a lot cheaper than the traditional fresh cut flowers. Flowers of course are what you first think of for wedding bouquets. Fresh flowers are no doubt breathtaking but can be very expensive. Silk flowers are nice because they last and the wedding party can keep them as a memento. Paper flowers are growing in popularity. You can see a variety of scrapbook style flowers, origami or tissue paper flowers as bouquets. Fruits and vegetables are a nice alternative. Using fruit and vegetables that are in season when you have your wedding is a nice touch. A bundle of multicolored apples in a basket or in a bouquet are beautiful in the fall or maybe some Indian corn. Bouquets made out of candy or lollipops can be really fun for a whimsical wedding. Clusters of lollipops in a bouquet are very cute or send your flower girls down the aisle with a gigantic sucker. That would be really cute and so would the smile on that little girls face knowing she gets to eat it when it’s all over. Tastefully arranged feathers make a
great alternative. P e a c o c k feathers were a very hot trend in Christmas of 2012. I anticipate seeing this trend carry over into this years wedding trends. Christmas ornaments are beautiful and add some tulle and you have a fabulous b o u q u e t . Bundles of pinecones make a really nice earthy bouquet. You can spice them up with glitter, colored ribbon or tulle. Lanterns and candles are a really nice touch for an alternative to flower bouquets. They also add to the ambiance of the wedding. For those crafters, making a button bouquet is a different spin on the traditional. You could also make a beaded bouquet or use jewels . I have seen some photos on the Internet of sparkling and colorful broaches that have been put together to make a really gorgeous bouquet. Collapsible fans (16) are elegant and can serve as dual purpose for those hot summer weddings also a nice touch for a southern style wedding. Parasol umbrellas are another great alternative that could also be used to shade the wedding party from the sun.
A cluster of seashells would be a beautiful accent to a nautical or beach themed wedding. Wrist corsages could be a cheaper version of the traditional wedding flower bouquet. Balloons are a fun and whimsical alternative to tradition. Makes for a lot of fun pictures of the wedding. Pinwheels are another great idea. It gives a playful, fun vibe to the wedding. Metal also be really cool as an alternative. Sculpted metal in any color could be a very unique piece. For a great laugh at the wedding, the bride can hold a ball and chain or walk with it attached to her ankle. Or after the “I do” when the couple is about to walk down the aisle have the new husband attach the ball and chain to the wife! Think outside the box and you can come up with some really great alternative ideas.

Pharmacists Offer Recommendations to Guide Public Through Cold and Flu Season
The American Pharmacists Association would like to remind the public about the importance of speaking with their pharmacist during cold and flu season. A pharmacist can help patients with such things as getting a flu shot, identifying the differences between a common cold and the flu, suggesting the best over-thecounter medications and offering a recommendation when a health care provider should be seen. The common cold and influenza are two of the most easily transmittable diseases in the United States. Although the common cold is usually mild, with symptoms lasting one to two weeks, it is a leading cause of doctor visits and missed days from school and work. Typically, children suffer from five to seven colds each year and adults from two to three. According to the CDC, on average 5% to 20% of the U.S. population becomes ill with influenza, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized and more than 24,000 people die from seasonal flu-related complications. A pharmacist can discuss your symptoms with you and offer advice on the best course of action. If a patient has the flu, and it is still within
the first two days, a pharmacist can advise the patient and offer solutions including further evaluation and treatment options that may include prescription antiviral therapy from an authorized prescriber. If a patient has a cold, viral sinus infection or has past the two-day window with influenza, a pharmacist can suggest the best over-the-counter medications to fit his/her symptoms. Optimizing Your Pharmacist’s Over-The-Counter Medication Suggestions * Discuss the symptoms you are trying to treat, and the duration of those symptoms, with your pharmacist. * Provide your pharmacist with a list of all the medications – prescription, over-the-counter and herbal – you are currently taking and any over-thecounter products you have already used and the results achieved. * Remember that sometimes, the best medicine is none at all. Your pharmacist may recommend just a few days of rest, adequate hydration and regular, healthy meals. * Provide the age and weight of the patient to your pharmacist. This is especially important with children’s
products, as formulations are different depending on the weight of the child. * Read product labeling, take the medication exactly as directed, learn of possible side effects, and ask your pharmacist what should be avoided while taking the medication. * Watch for duplicate ingredients. If you are giving your child more than one OTC medication check the active ingredient(s) used in each medication to make sure you are not giving your child more than one product with the same active ingredient. * Do not use a kitchen spoon to measure liquid medications. Obtain appropriate medication administration aids (i.e. droppers, syringes, spoons, etc.) and ask the pharmacist how to use them properly. * Don’t give medications in the dark. Turn on the lights if your child needs medication at night. Do not give medication to a child who is not fully awake. * Remember, most OTC medications are for temporary relief of minor symptoms. Contact your pharmacist or health care provider if your condition persists or gets worse. * The flu, common colds and most other upper respiratory infections
are caused by viruses and are NOT treated with antibiotics. An antiviral will reduce the symptoms of the flu if received within the first 48 hours of symptom onset. * There is still time to protect your family from the flu, the CDC recommends all persons six months or older receive an influenza vaccine. The vaccine is available throughout the flu season or as long as supply lasts. Make sure to speak with your pharmacist about your vaccination needs.

Solving the Great Wedding Gift Debate By Phebe Durand Let’s face it, most couples getting married today have lived on their own or as a couple for years, and often have their own established homes. Traditional wedding gifts - the faithful toaster, pots and pans, and dishes - just don’t cut it anymore, since most newly married couples already have the household items that they need. There are creative gift-giving solutions out there, but the cost of the items alone often renders the gift-giver speechless. Despite the ever-changing trends of culture, one thing doesn’t ever seem to change: Newly married couples face a dramatically smaller pocket. Online businesses have made life easier on everyone and present
a perfect solution: the honeymoon registry. Honeymoon registry services offer a solution for couples, their friends and family that creates a meaningful wedding gift which will be remembered throughout the couple’s lifetime together. The way it works is pretty simple. A couple will plan their honeymoon with the help of the registry service. The registry service then takes those plans and puts it in the form of a registry list - the exact same kind of list that you would find at a department store. Instead of containing household items, the honeymoon registry list contains pieces of a couple’s planned honeymoon. Not only can guests help pay for the big items like airfare and resort accommodations, but they can purchase romantic “gifts” like a candlelit dinner or an afternoon horseback riding. What can you think of that would be cooler than giving your newly married little sister a champagne welcome to her honeymoon hotel? This new service is something
beyond unique, it is something special that helps a couple begin their new life together in a romantic way. Traditional items like toasters and china will get old and break, but a honeymoon gift will be in the hearts, minds, and pictures of the couple throughout their lives. Before deciding on a registry service, do a little research. Not all honeymoon registry services are created equal - some travel agencies even advertise a registry service, but all that this service includes is allowing your friends and family to mail in checks towards your trip. As a couple planning your honeymoon and helping everyone with their giftgiving, you need to make sure that the service you choose will provide you and your guests with the best possible service. Ask the following questions to help you determine which honeymoon registry is right for you: *Does the company provide an itemized registry list, or do they simply ask friends and family to
contribute money? The people who love you want to purchase something meaningful for you, so letting them choose from a list of items makes the gift-giving special for them. *How does the registry handle purchases? The process needs to be accessible and easy, so it should include an array of options like acceptance of credit cards, a tollfree 800-number, and the registry list should be available on the Internet so that your friends and family can access it from wherever they are located. *Make sure that the registry sends something tangible to your friends and family, like a gift certificate and receipt. Otherwise, they will tend to feel a bit ripped off and you won’t know who to thank for what. Many couples today find honeymoon registries to be the perfect solution for their bridal registry dilemma. By taking this route, the expense of the honeymoon is eased and the frustration of finding “that perfect gift” is taken away.
What to wear to a wedding by Rebecca Black Surprisingly, the most asked question I receive as an etiquette consultant is: what do I wear to a wedding? In theory, discerning the formality of a wedding should be easy when we know the formality of the invitation, chosen venue, and time of day of the wedding. In reality, even knowing the particulars, may not quell our confusion. As an example of just how confusing decoding the dress code can be, let us look at the following common scenario. A couple chooses to create their wedding invitations, which appear rather informal. Yet, the ceremony will take place in the afternoon in a Catholic Church, with the reception scheduled for 5:30 pm at a country club. While interpreting these formality clues, we find a mixed bag. The invitation is informal indicating informal attire. A Catholic Church wedding dictates formal daytime attire; and the dress code for evening country club events is typically cocktail attire. Since there are conflicting messages here, we use an educated guess and ignore the informality of the invitation. Thus, the advice would be for wedding guests to wear conservative -- not too much skin -- cocktail attire. This calls for a suit for men and the little black dress or its equivalent for women. Answers to common wedding attire questions.
Question: Is it appropriate for a woman to wear black to a daytime wedding? Answer: Absolutely! There was a time when wearing black to a wedding was a two-fold faux pas, as it could appear the guest thought poorly of the union and black attire symbolized mourning. Thankfully, this is not the case today. Black is a popular color choice. In fact, wearing red is the only taboo color for wedding guests. Question: May I wear a formal dress with sequins for daytime wedding? Answer: Unfortunately, sequins and beaded gowns are formal evening attire. Most likely, unless this is a very formal wedding/reception, guest attire would be daytime appropriate cocktail attire. Question: I found the perfect blue strapless gown for my best friend’s wedding. Would this be appropriate for a semi-formal evening wedding? Answer: If you would still like to be friends after the wedding, then it is best to save the strapless gown for another occasion. Strapless gowns tend to draw the eye, especially if you are lucky enough to be well
endowed. It is best to shop for a more conservative dress. Question: Is it more appropriate to wear a suit for a daytime church wedding or can I wear a sport coat and slacks? Answer: It depends. If the wedding were held in a Catholic Church, which is typically more formal, then you would wear a suit. Additionally, if the invitation states “Formal Attire”, you would wear a suit. Other than that, you could wear your sport coat and slacks. Question: The wedding is very formal with a reception following at 5 pm. May I wear my tuxedo? Answer: Strict etiquette rules state that a tuxedo is formal attire worn
after 6 pm. However, most do not know this rule. There is some wiggle room since the reception begins at 5 pm--only an hour early. Alternately, this also means that the wedding probably begins around 4 pm, which is much too early. So, follow your gut feeling. If you feel that there will be other guests wearing tuxedos, you should not feel too out of place. Question: My legs are very white. May I wear nylons with strappy sandals? Answer: Wearing nylons with opentoe shoes is considered a fashion faux pas. I suggest either wearing closed- toe shoes or splurging on a spray tan.

Mom was right, you should eat more veggies - here’s how you do it With the new year upon us, people are thinking about changing their eating habits for the healthier. For many, that means vowing to eat more vegetables; the majority of Americans say they’ve been trying to eat more fruits and vegetables over the past year, according to a poll by the International Food Information Council Foundation. And, with good reason; eating plenty of vegetables and fruits can help ward off heart disease and stroke, control blood pressure and prevent some types of cancer, according to Harvard School of Public Health. How many servings of vegetables do we need to eat? The USDA recommends between two to three cups for most adults (more if you exercise more than 30 minutes per day) and between one to two and a half cups for kids. It may seem overwhelming to try to pack that many veggies into everyone’s daily meals, but there are actually a lot of fun, easy and delicious ways for the whole family to eat more vegetables. Let’s start with breakfast. Veggies may not be top of mind at this time of day, but it’s easy to sneak some into your first meal and get lots of nutrients to kick start your day. If you are a warm breakfast type of
Page 8
person, try adding spinach, peppers and tomatoes to your eggs in the morning, or make it easy and flavorful by adding salsa into a serving of scrambled eggs or on top of an omelet. If you’re a breakfast on the go type, throw some kale, spinach, celery or cucumber, along with fruits like berries and bananas, into a smoothie and take it with you. For snacks, cut carrots and celery into sticks ahead of time and store them in the fridge for easy munching. Then, when you get hungry pour a few tablespoons of a delicious ranch dressing, like OPA by Litehouse Greek-style yogurt dressing, which is light on the calories and fat, has zero sugar, and is gluten-free, into a small bowl and dip the carrot and celery sticks, or even tomatoes on toothpicks. You can also try baking kale or sliced beets mixed with olive oil and spices on cooking sheets until they are crispy for a tasty and healthy take on traditional chips. For lunch or dinner, beat the cold by pureeing butternut squash, cauliflower or broccoli for a warm soup. Or, make a mason jar salad that tastes as good as it looks, with this recipe: Mason Jar Salad Layer each ingredient in a mason

Pretend City Children’s Museum’s “Rock the City” Raised $400k Nearly 350 of Orange County’s notable philanthropists and business leaders attended Pretend City Children’s Museum’s Rock the City Gala which included a live auction, dinner, and high energy entertainment all held most appropriately within the cityscape of the museum. An event directly benefiting Pretend City, the music-inspired event showcased flashy hot pink, purple and blue neon lights with a touch of “rock elegance” and raised $400,000 to benefit the educational mission for Orange County’s children and families. Rock the City delivered a memorable night with guests in a variety of edgy and colorful looks as they put their personal take on how to “rock” a black tie. “This was an epic and fun gala for Pretend City Children’s Museum, key community supporters and leaders,” says Hirad Emadi, Chairman of the Board for Pretend City Children’s Museum. “We are deeply grateful for supporters who believe in how the preservation of childhood through play, healthy child development, embracing diversity and connecting families to each other and the community positively benefits our future generation.” Attendees entered the ballroom and were treated to a delicious dinner starting with a salad with fresh market greens in a Homemade Lavosh Bread Basket with Humbolt Fog Cheese, fresh pomegranate and roasted pumpkin seeds served with Champagne Vinaigrette. The Dual Entrée served was a delectable Portobello Crusted Filet Mignon Medallion with whole grain mustard Demi-glace and wild mushrooms and Grilled Halibut with Artichoke, Tomatoes, Capers, Lemon and White Wine along with a Panko Crusted Elegant Pear Shaped Potato and asparagus bundles with roasted cherry tomatoes. Dessert was scrumptious with a Trio of Petite Desserts, a Dark Chocolate Kahlua Cream/Praline Crisp and Coffee Chantilly, a Tiramisu Éclair and a Passion and Mango Curd Tart. Award-winning 80s cover and tribute band Flashback Heart Attack! shook the evening up by bringing high-energy, vibrant tunes reminiscent to “We Built This City.” The live auction presented traveling excursions for winners to places like New York, the Kentucky Derby and seven-night stay in the luxurious Tallus Private Ski and Golf Residence Club in Mammoth Mountain. Other live auction winner grabs included a Night at the Museum, a giant friends and family sleepover for 20 at Pretend City with a catered breakfast, as well as an exclusive dinner for two with the Lakers Showtime Team. The overall auction value of items topped nearly $100,000. In addition, the museum’s Fund the Mission program raised $100,000, which will fund upcoming traveling exhibits, scholarship programs and special programming, developmental screenings and more. Among the supporters for the evening’s event were board members Bill and Christina Lyon, Hirad and Reesa Emadi, Mark and Sarah Fitzpatrick, Chris and Emily Winn and Blake and Jill Bertea; as well as Ryan and Jessica Steelberg, Darrin and Sharon Ginsberg and Don and Ginger Ressler. Rock the City was made possible by generous key sponsors: Fidelity National Title, First American Title, the Ressler Family, Alexandra and Alan Airth, Super Color Digital, William Lyon Homes, Chase Merritt, Jill and Blake Bertea and Fitzpatrick & Prince. Since opening, Pretend City has seen over 700,000 guests, distributed more than 20,000 developmental screenings, hosted monthly specialized family events for children on the autism spectrum and facilitated more than 10,000 scholarship field trips to the young, underserved Orange County community. Pretend City Children’s Museum received the Parenting OC 2012 and 2013 Reader’s Choice Award for Best Indoor Play Place, OC Weekly’s Best Museum Award 2013 and Red Tricycle’s 2013 Totally Awesome Award for Best Museum. Be yourself Your Valentine’s Day card should represent you and the feelings you have for your partner. “Be yourself, speak from the heart, and let the card be the card,” says Joyce. “In other words, you don’t have to try to sound like a greeting card because that part’s already done for you. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, this information can be obtained from one of the following three companies: LPS Agency Sales & Posting at (714) 730-2727, or visit the Internet Web site www.lpsasap.com (Registration required to search for sale information) or Priority Posting & Publishing at (714) 573-1965 or visit the Internet Web site www.priorityposting. com (Click on the link for “Advanced Search” to search for sale information), or auction.com at 1-800-280-2832 or visit the Internet Web site www.auction.com, using the Trustee Sale No. shown above.
