KIDS LEARN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AT HANDS -ON, OUTDOOR SU M M ER N ATURE C A M P
– The Environmental Nature Center’s 41st annual Summer Nature Camp will take place from June 25 to August 16, 2018. For the first time ever, the Environmental Nature Center (ENC) has added “Little Naturalist Camp” for children 3 – 5 years old to its menu of camps that now serve children up to 12 years old. Camp sessions are from Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with half day camps available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information please visit encenter.org “Summer is my favorite time of year,” said ENC Executive Director Bo Glover. “Watching our campers learn while having a great time is priceless. Young children’s minds are stimulated by nearly everything around them, so the more diverse and engaging their surroundings, the more their minds learn and grow. I get to see a lot of growth in a lot of kids each summer!” Little Naturalist camp, along with Nature Adventure Camp for children entering kindergarten through 3rd grade, and the Order of the Ravens for 6th to 8th graders, will be held at the ENC’s home campus at 1601 E. 16th Street, in Newport Beach. Science Explorers Camp for 4th to 6th graders will be held at the Back Bay Science Center on Shellmaker Island, and registration is through the City of
Newport Beach. Summer Nature Camp is d e m o n s t r a t i v e o f t h e E N C ’s commitment to sharing environmental education and experiential learning with the community. Camp will largely take place outdoors, allowing children to explore nature up close using scientific tools like binoculars, magnifying glasses and microscopes. Science concepts will be introduced in a fun, interactive environment; campers will have access to crafts, games and other hands-on activities to discover and apply new skills. The ENC’s Camp Teachers are exceptionally qualified in elementary science education and represent a wide range of expertise in the Orange County educational community. Most are ENC Naturalists who teach environmental education programs throughout the year. Each teacher will oversee a small group of campers of similar age. According to a 2015 article by Oxford Learning, children lose the equivalent of one month of overall learning during summer vacation. Summer Nature Camp can keep kids active and engaged, teaching them skills that they can take back home or to the classroom. “Outdoor environments are important to children’s development of independence and autonomy,” said ENC Camp Director Corina Silva.
“Children’s stress levels fall within minutes of seeing green spaces. Play protects children’s emotional development whereas loss of free time and a hurried lifestyle can contribute to anxiety.” About the ENC Founded in 1972, the ENC is a fascinating combination of 15 California native plant communities, wildlife habitat, walking trails, and sustainably designed, LEED Platinum certified learning center. For over 40 years, the ENC has been shaped and caressed into a 5-acre landscape for learning, a sanctuary from life's pressures and a place of preservation and instruction. Serving over 27,000 students and thousands of visitors annually, the ENC is recognized as a
leader in science and social science education providing opportunities for increasing our community's knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the natural world. With a mission of providing quality education through hands-on experience with nature, the ENC inspires all generations to protect the natural world by serving as our community's foremost authority o n e c o l o g i c a l r e s p o n s i b i l i t y, sustainable practices and environmental education. The ENC is a non-profit 501(c)-3 public benefit corporation. For more information call 949-645-8489, or visit www. ENCenter.org. The ENC is located at 1601 16th St. in Newport Beach.
county recorders office special Saturday hours SATURDAY HOURS PLANNED FOR MAY 19 The Clerk-Recorder Department will once again open its doors to the public on May 19, 2018 for its once-a-month Saturday hours. The department’s branch offices in Fullerton and Laguna Hills as well as the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana, will be open from 10 am to 3 pm. Customers will be able to obtain marriage licenses, have marriage ceremonies performed, sub-mit passport applications, purchase passport photos and obtain vital and official records. The Orange County Archives will also be open from 10 am to 3 pm. The Archives are located in the basement of the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. For more information, please visit us at: OCRecorder.com Clerk-Recorder’s 2nd Annual Passport Day Results in Great Success for Busy Families and Individuals. On April 14th, the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department hosted its 2nd Annual Passport Day at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. During this event, the department Page 4
accepted 179 passport applications and took 114 passport photos. This represents a 113% in-crease in the number of passport applications accepted and an 87% increase in the number of passport photos taken during the depart-ment’s 1st Annual Passport Day last year. The turnout was great and most notably lots of families with children took advantage of this year’s Passport Day. Families and individuals were lining up for the event an hour ahead of opening time. Holding the event on a Saturday makes the passport applications process easier for parents, as both parents must be present to obtain a passport for children younger than 16. “It gives me great pleasure to personally see all the families who turned out for this event,” ClerkRecorder Hugh Nguyen said. “We are here to make it easier for these families and individuals to obtain the services that they need and I really appreciate the turnout and our staff for coming on a Saturday and doing a great job.” The department held its 1st Annual Passport Day last year at the Old County Courthouse. Last year, the
The Newport News
department accepted 84 pass-port applications and took 61 passport photos. The department’s 2nd Annual Passport Day is a record setting day for number of passport applications accepted and photos taken during a Saturday opening. Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen is excited to host next year’s Passport Day and looks forward to continue meeting the public’s demand for passport services. If you need to get a passport and can’t make it during normal operating hours, your next opportunities will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 and Saturday June 23, 2018. The department will
be hosting its once-a-month special Saturday openings on those dates. The public will have the opportunity to apply for a passport, obtain a marriage license, have a civil marriage ceremony performed or obtain vital records. The secret to Mother’s Day gifting success: Give time, not stuff
She nursed you through countless cases of childhood sniffles, taught you to tie your shoes and make a mean omelet, and she’s still your goto source for good advice and your favorite home-baked cookies. Are you really going to just give Mom a pair of socks and some flowers for Mother’s Day? You can do better than that. In the tradition of a current popculture meme, here’s a “give this, not that” list of Mother’s Day ideas: Give: Your time. Last year, 44 percent of mothers surveyed by online deal site PriceGrabber said they wanted quality time with their family for Mother’s Day. Whether your family includes adult children who live and work far from their childhood home (and Mom) or a busy family with young children, it can be hard to find time to spend with each other on a regular basis. On Mother’s Day, make a point of devoting the day to Mom. Whatever you choose to do together - dine out, visit a botanical garden or just hang out at home - you’ll be giving her the gift she wants most: time with you. Don’t give: Stuff. There’s a difference between a thoughtful gift that has meaning to the recipient, and something clearly bought out of desperation just so the giver has something to hand over on Mother’s Day. Moms know the difference. Things like cowboy boots, sunglasses and even designer purses were among the items mothers said they didn’t want in a survey by Ebates. Don’t wait until the last minute to buy something she may not want. Put some thought into the gift a week or two before the big day so you can be sure you’re giving her something she really wants, like a piece of unique jewelry, her favorite bath products, or an attractive scarf. Give: A great meal out. It’s easy to understand why dining out was on the list of most-wanted gifts for mothers in every geographic area surveyed by Ebates. What could
make Mom happier than enjoying a great meal with her family? Not having to cook it herself or clean up afterward! Taking Mom out for meal is a time-honored Mother’s Day tradition and restaurants can be busy on the first Sunday of May. In fact, Chris Ciavarra, senior vice president of marketing for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, reports that Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for their restaurant locations across the country. When choosing a place to take Mom, look for a place that will please her palate with familiar flavors, good food and the kind of warm, comforting ambience she creates in her own dining room or kitchen. Family-style restaurants like Cracker Barrel are a good choice for Mother’s Day because there’s something on the menu for everyone. Plus, when Mom’s done with her meal, she can pick out the perfect gift from the store’s collection of nostalgic items. Don’t give: Practical kitchen items. No matter how much Mom says she wants a new electric can opener or how much she needs a new set of pots and pans, don’t give these items on Mother’s Day. Moms are more than just the sum of the time they spend in the kitchen. If she really needs and wants those things, why not give them to her at some other time of year, for no other reason
than she’s a great mother? Or, if you must give something kitchenrelated for Mother’s Day, consider something that’s pretty and fun, too, like decorative serve ware. Buy from a store that offers free gift wrapping services - like Cracker Barrel - and it’s even easier to give a good-looking gift. Give: Gift cards. A gift card to her favorite store was another popular selection of moms surveyed by Ebates. But don’t think giving her a gift card is all you have to do. Research to find just the right card for her, and then offer to accompany her on a shopping excursion to her favorite store. That way, you’ll be giving her two things she wants most - a gift card and time spent with you. Don’t give: Technology. Do you really want to give Mom a smartphone that will be obsolete by next Mother’s Day? Or a tablet so complicated she’ll never figure out how to use it on her own? If your mother’s digitally inclined, chances are she already has the tech she needs and wants. And if she doesn’t, trying to choose it for her can be like trying to pick a pet for someone else - never a good idea. Instead, keep gift items simple, personal and nostalgic. For more Mother’s Day gift ideas, gift cards and to learn about special menus for Mother’s Day, visit www. crackerbarrel.com. - (BPT)

Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts Because Even Mother’s Need to Relax from Time to Time By Amy Brantley Relaxation, it’s not really a word you associate with mothers, is it? It’s time that we change that. This year give your mother a gift that will allow her to relax. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #1: Massage Gift Certificate Mother’s Day is a time for moms to be treated like royalty. One way you can make sure your mother gets treated like royalty is to send her to a spa to get a massage. This is a gift she will love, especially after a hard week of work. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #2: Sleep Mask Sleeping in is a treat that mother’s very rarely get to enjoy. Even when she does get to sleep in, her sleep is usually disrupted by the sun. A wonderful way to avoid this dilemma is to buy her a sleep mask. Then she will be able to sleep in and get that well deserved rest. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #3: Neck Pillow Laying down for a quick nap is a wonderful way to relax, but grabbing
a quick nap on the couch isn’t always comfortable. That’s why this relaxation gift is perfect for your mom. Now it doesn’t matter where she grabs that quick nap as long as she has this gift nearby. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #4: Scented Candles Relaxation is appealing to all the senses, even the sense of smell. I highly suggest getting aromatherapy candles that claim to have relaxing or stress relieving scents. Your mother will love this gift. Even when she’s folding laundry, she can be relaxing. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #5: Relaxing CD A CD that has classical music on it is very relaxing, but a CD that has the sounds of waterfalls, birds, etc is relaxing as well. These CDs are wonderful to play, in the background, while grabbing that quick nap. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #6: Foot Spa This gift is relaxation at it’s finest. Your mother will love getting this gift on Mother’s Day. She can sit and watch TV or even read a book while
getting a wonderful foot massage. You could even include lotion and foot scrub so that she can have a mini pedicure at home. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #7: Coupons for Free Dinners If you live nearby, this makes a wonderful Mother’s Day gift. There may be days when your mother doesn’t feel like cooking. When this happens she could call you up and redeem her coupon. If you give these coupons, I highly suggest you have some easy recipes handy so that you can quickly cook up a fast and delicious meal. Mother’s Day Relaxation Gifts #8: Coupons for Free Cleaning I suggest you live nearby before giving this gift on Mother’s Day. The only reason I say this is because if you live far away, and are only home on holidays, you may be stuck with cleaning up after the holidays, which can be horrible. Of course, you should help out at the holidays, but doing it all yourself is just too much. She will love having these coupons around when she’s not feeling to well.

The Wings of Freedom Tour Unique Display at the John Wayne Airport / Lyon Air Museum from May 9th to 13th
In honor of our WWII Veterans ~ The Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour Brings Extremely Rare Bomber and Fighter Aircraft for Local Living History Display as Part of 110city Nationwide Tour Participating in the Collings Foundation’s WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” WWII Heavy Bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” WWII Heavy Bomber and North American B-25 Mitchell and P-51 Mustang fighter, will fly to Lyon Air Museum for a visit from May 9th to 13th. This is a rare opportunity to visit, explore, and learn more about these unique and rare treasures of aviation history. The B-17 is one of only 8 in flying condition in the United States , the B-24J is the sole remaining examples of its type flying in the World. The B-25 is best known for being used in the daring Doolittle raid. The P-51 Mustang was awarded the prestigious Grand Champion for restoration at EAA’s Oshkosh AirVenture. Visitors are invited to explore the aircraft inside and out - $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and veterans, $6 for children ages 5 -17, and free for children
under 5 is requested for access to up-close viewing and tours through the inside of the aircraft and access to Lyon Air Museum. Visitors may also experience the once-in-alifetime opportunity to actually take a 30-minute flight aboard these rare aircraft. Flights on either the B-17 or B-24 are $450 per person. Get some “stick time” in the world’s greatest fighter! P-51 flights are $2,200 for a half hour and $3,200 for a full hour. B-25 flights are $400 per person. For reservations and information on flight experiences call 800-568-8924. The WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR will be on display at Lyon Air Museum in Santa Ana, located at 19300 Ike Jones Road on the west side of John Wayne Airport. The WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR will arrive at Lyon Air Museum at 2:00 PM on May 9th and will be on display until the aircraft departs after 5:00 PM operations on May 13th. Hours of ground tours and display are: 2:00 PM through 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 9th; 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thusday, May 9th through Sunday, May 13th. The 30-minute flight experiences are normally scheduled before and after the
ground tour times above. The Collings Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit educational foundation devoted to organizing “living history” events that allows people to learn more about their heritage and history through direct participation. The Nationwide WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR is celebrating its 29th year and visits an average of 110 cities in over 35 states annually. Since its start, tens of millions of people have seen the B-17, B-24, B-25 & P-51 display at locations everywhere. The WINGS OF FREEDOM tour is one of the most extraordinary and unique interactive traveling historical displays of its kind. The WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR travels the nation as a flying tribute to the flight crews who flew them, the ground crews who maintained them, the workers who built them, the soldiers, sailors and airmen they helped protect; and the citizens and families that share the freedom that they helped preserve. The B-17, B-25 & B-24 were the backbone of the American effort during the war from 1942 to 1945 and were famous for their ability to sustain damage and still accomplish the mission.
Despite the risks of anti-aircraft fire, attacking enemy fighters, and the harrowing environment of sub-zero temperatures, many B-17s and B-24s safely brought their crews home. The P-51 Mustang was affectionately known as the bombers “Little Friend” – saving countless crews from attacking axis fighters. After the war, many aircraft were scrapped for their raw aluminum to rebuild a nation in post-war prosperity and therefore very few were spared. The rarity of the B-17, B-25, B-24 & P-51 - and their importance to telling the story of WWII is why the Collings Foundation continues to fly and display the aircraft nationwide. At each location we encourage local veterans and their families to visit and share their experiences and stories with the public. For aviation enthusiasts, the tour provides opportunity for the museum to come to the visitor and not the other way around! Visitors can find out more by visiting our website at www.collingsfoundation. org. For further information e-mail Jade Nguyen at JadeNguyen@ lyonairmuseum.org or call 714-2104585

local charity event raises $125,000 for Olive Crest
The Newport News
George DeVries, who won the Vince Ferragamo-autographed football, with the Rams star and event MC Vince Ferragamo
Photos by: Katya Williams Olive Crest saluted the “Wearin’ of the Green” at its St. Paddy’s Day Celebration for a sold-out crowd of 435 guests on St. Patrick’s Day at the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach. The festive affair featured lively music by the Irish band Cillian’s Bridge, Irish dancers, whiskey sampling, silent and live auctions, a sit-down dinner and a Golden Ticket opportunity which offered the winner a choice of a live auction item (buyers were the proud wearers of flashing green blinky rings). Former NFL Rams’ star quarterback and ardent community supporter Vince Ferragamo served as master of ceremonies, with Carrie Brock taking the reins as event chair, assisted by former chairs Lorraine Bader and Lori Feeney. Other committee members included Board of Trustees President Steve Bernardy, Vice President Randy Rider, Lori LaPorte, Shelli Zeller, Gabriella Ayerst, Chris Selzer, and honorary chair Diana Casey. Also Olive Crest board member Jim Woodside with mentor Jessica assisting were Olive Crest Founders Dr. Donald and Lois Verleur, CEO Woodside and CEO Donald Verleur Donald Verleur, Executive Director OC Region Kerri Dunkelberger, and Executive Development Director Tim Bauer. Most important was the testimony of a young lady named Helen Wright, who lauded Olive Crest for helping turn her life around. Olive Crest mentor Jessica Woodside, who committed to being a mentor at last year’s gala, spoke glowingly about how her mentee and foster teen Lillie has blessed her life. Olive Crest recognized Applied Medical with its “Champion for the Children Award.” The company has given $99,114 in donations since 2011 to support the children and families of the nonprofit. Applied Medical’s Director of Community Relations, Jenna Hilal, accepted the award. Olive Crest’s volunteer group, Town Gown & Apron, was honored for its more than 25 years of support, contributing nearly $2 million to support Olive Crest’s children. The award was presented to the group’s leader, Diana Casey, who is credited as the backbone and inspirational leader of the group. Dr. David and Diana Casey, Carrie Brock and her husband honoree for her leadership with the The Golden Ticket opportunity drew lots of buyers, as the winner was John Brock Town Gown & Apron support group able to choose one of several live auction items - a Cabo trip, a phenomenal sports package, Del Mar Turf Club, and an Anaheim Angels Club Level Suite opportunity for 12 guests - supporter Lauren Post chose the Angels! Also popular was the $100 opportunity to win an autographed football from Super Bowl XIV by Rams great, Vince Ferragamo. A very happy George DeVries was the winner. Together with auctions, raffle opportunities, underwriting and the “Bid from the Heart” offer, $125,000 in net proceeds was realized for the support of children and families through Olive Crest programs. Since 1973, Olive Crest has transformed the lives of more than 70,000 abused, neglected, and at-risk children and their families. The nonprofit works tirelessly to meet the individual needs of kids in crisis by providing safe homes, counseling and education for both youth and parents. The many innovative programs offered reflect its conviction that strengthening the family Olive Crest OC Executive Director Kerri Dunkelberger with Board of is one of the most powerful ways to help heal children. www.OliveCrest.org Trustees President Steve Bernardy Page 10

PAY LESS TO ADVERTISE TO REACH THE HIGH INCOME HOMEOWNERS OF NEWPORT BEACH, BALBOA, CORONA DEL MAR, AND NEWPORT COAST WHO WOULD LIKE TO BUY FROM YOU 1. Newport News Readers can afford your very best! According to reliable sources such as the U.S. census bureau the area served by the Newport News is one of Orange County’s highest income groups. These affluent nearby homeowners in Newport Beach, Balboa, Corona del Mar, and Newport Coast have more money to spend and the time to spend it. Make sure that these readers are aware of your company and what you do by keeping a regular, affordable advertising message in the newspaper that all of them read every week 2.Why pay more to reach your most preferred customers? Smart business owners and marketing experts agree that the most expensive advertising is advertising that doesn’t work. Savvy business managers are wise to be concerned about high volume publications that don’t deliver a strong local audience that would bring you customers. Major daily newspapers like the Times and the Register reach nearly a million readers, but do you really need to pay their high prices to reach your customers in Newport News? While some glossy monthly magazines are stylish, their costly rates may not be realistic compared to choosing a highly effective newspaper like the Newport News which is received by your most likely preferred customers of high income homeowners with advertising that costs you far less money. The Newport News is attractive, effective and affordable. 3. Why do Newport News Readers read the Newport News? Since 1907 The Newport News has been the favorite weekly publication of Newport Beach. On July 15, 1997, the Superior Court of Orange County adjudicated
(approved) The Newport News as the official newspaper for The City of Newport Beach and the County or Orange. That’s why you regularly see stories about the Newport News Chamber of Commerce, and prominent Newport News residents in the Newport News. So when you advertise In the Newport News you get the most popular weekly for Newport Beach readers. 4.U S Post office plus selected delivery makes this newspaper special! While everyone knows that the Newport News is delivered to nearly every single family residence in Newport Coast by the United States Post office, the Newport News is also hand-delivered each week to local Newport News area businesses, professional offices, library, and several centrally located news racks other popular gathering spots where Newport News residents can easily pick up a copy. 5.Who is this woman that raises hundreds of millions of dollars and how can she help me grow my business? If you don’t know her already, get to know Kelly Bennett, the top society columnist in Orange County. She also has the top rated radio show and television program “Breakfast with Gary and Kelly. Readers eagerly await her weekly column in the Newport News which features major charity events where the beautiful people
of Orange County gather for fashionable luncheons and dinners which regularly raise millions of dollars for worthy causes. Permit us to say that placing your advertising where it is seen by people who can afford to give away millions is the best advertising purchase you will ever make. Read Kelly Bennett’s “Society Scene “column every week in the Newport News and see why. 6. Free Online Advertising Newport News Version each week. While many people still prefer to have a hard copy of the Newport News to hold in their hand, our online version is equally popular for those who want to access our entire newspaper on their smartphone, tablet or computer. Your regular ad will appear in our online edition at no extra charge. Just click on the Thenewportnews.com. 7. How Fast Will this Home be sold? We’d like to share some actual quotes from local Newport News area realtors: BUYERS CAME IN WAVING the ad that appeared in the Newport News.” Two factors determine how fast a house will sell: 1.Choose a skilled real estate professional 2. Advertise it in the Newport News Whether you are selling homes or other desirable goods or services you should consider the Newport News for your advertising.

QUARTER PAGE COLOR This month I have terrific low prices on quarter page full color ad packages. Plus you can choose to either pay as you go. But remember these rates apply only if you order this month. Smart business owners and marketing experts agree that the best advertising program is one which brings you clients and customers. Savvy business managers are wise to be concerned about high volume publications that don’t deliver a strong local audience that would generate immediate income for your business. Major daily newspapers like the Times and the Register reach nearly a million readers, but do you really need to pay their high prices to reach your customers in Newport Beach, Balboa, Corona Del Mar and Newport Coast? While some glossy monthly magazines are stylish, their costly rates may not be realistic compared to choosing a highly effective newspaper like these reasonably priced local newspapers which are received by your most likely preferred customers of high income homeowners. This advertising costs you far less money. These five local newspapers are attractive, effective and affordable. Let’s talk today!

Time-saving tips so parents can have a little break
Page 16
Changing diapers throughout the day adds up fast in time and money. Parents can look to avoid leaks while keeping little ones comfortable by using Luvs which are extra absorbent and have large stretch tabs for easy fastening. Visit www.luvsdiapers. com to learn more about Luvs Ultra Leakguards with NightLock Plus. Ready the night before Mornings are hectic for families, and a bad one can really set the tone for the entire day. Save time and eliminate stress by doing as much as possible the night before. Select clothes for kids and yourself, prepare lunches, pack bags and bathe in the evening. When the alarm goes off, you will be 75 percent ready to go. Cook double batches When you cook twice as much, you cover two meals in the time it takes to make just one. Double the casserole for tonight and freeze half for next week. Cook 2 pounds of chicken so you have lunch for tomorrow in addition to dinner. Double the soup and freeze in individual containers so both you and your partner have an easy meal you can grab and go. Play date exchange Spearhead a babysitting exchange between you and your parent friends. Offer to bring a few extra kids to the park to give another parent a muchneeded break. Then next week, swap play date duties so you can enjoy a few hours alone. Your kids will love having friends along, while you get precious “me time.” It’s a win-win for everyone. - (BPT)

You wake up before the sun rises to shower and get ready for the day. Soon you hear the patter of tiny feet upstairs. You get breakfast ready for your little ones and then get them dressed. Between packing bags and preparing lunches, you barely have time to grab breakfast for yourself. You rush out the door just in time to make it to work before that big meeting starts. And all this happens before 8 a.m. Being a parent means juggling not just your own schedule, but those of your children as well. Nearly two in three moms have never taken a day completely for themselves, according to a new survey conducted by Luvs and Wakefield Research. It’s no surprise most parents long for a little breathing room to relax. Fortunately, with these five tips and tricks, you can ease your schedule and save time throughout the day. Use that extra time for something you enjoy, whether it’s watching your favorite TV show, going for a run or sipping a cup of tea while star gazing. Make nap time all about you If you have small kids, you probably use the few hours they nap to do laundry, clean the house or catch up on emails. Instead, once or twice a week, use the break to do something just for you. Read a book, catch up on the DVR or even step into the shower! In fact, the Luvs survey found that a quarter of moms would simply value an uninterrupted shower versus going to the spa. Simplify diapering

Fatigued? Low energy? Chronic pain? Migraine? Cold hands and feet due to poor blood circulation? Rejoice. Crystal Heat Therapy is now available in Newport Beach! Infrared Crystal Heat Therapy is a soothing, safe and gentle process that starts with one of nature’s most proven cornerstones for protection and health remedies - crystalized quartz. Once these crystals are stimulated by infrared heat, healing wavelengths penetrate deeply into the bloodstream. A growing body of clinical evidence supports the use of far infrared as a non-invasive health-promoting therapy. More recent studies in China explored far infrared therapy as a method to improve inadequate blood circulation in patients with vascular access malfunction, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. Study subjects treated with far infrared showed measurable blood flow improvement after a single session. Test results were consistent after one year of therapy.* *US National Library of Medicine.
