It’s time for sandwiches to move aside, because this school year bento-box style lunches reign king on campus. Bento boxes provide not only the space for healthy and nutritious food choices, but also creativity. Isn’t it time for lunch to be more fun? Nutrition blogger and mom of two, Sally Kuzemchak, uses Lil Snappers kid-sized fruit when she creates bento box lunches because they are easy for little students to hold, serving size proportionate and each 3-pound pouch provides enough fruit for lunches and snacks for an entire

Creative Lunchbox Ideas

week. On top of that, the fruit can be sliced up for dipping in almond butter or yogurt sprinkled with cinnamon or cut up into a fruit salad, perfect for the three or four compartments in a bento box. Studies indicate healthy eating can influence the cognitive ability and intelligence levels of students, and balanced midday meals of fruits, proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats are best. For a well-rounded lunch, parents can fill bento boxes with fresh pasta alongside sliced carrots and grapes, taco fixings with a Lil Snappers apple or a fun and creative meal-on-a-stick to keep school-aged children satisfied throughout the day. Preparing healthy, filling lunches shouldn’t be difficult, and with bentobox style meals your kids will never be bored. With a little preparation and recipe inspiration, crafting back to school lunches will be a breeze. Using small teaspoon or grapefruit spoon, core-out center of each apple base (working outward from centermost part of fruit), leaving 1/4-inch outer edge; set aside. In small bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, mustard and carrot. Season to taste. Spoon 1/4 cup of tuna salad into each apple, top with top one-third of apples, tilted slightly to resemble a chest being opened. Use playful, pirate-themed cupcake holders and flagged toothpicks to make for fun presentation and easy clean-up. Apple Turkey Cheese Kabobs Servings: 2 1 Stemilt Lil Snappers Kid Size Apple, cored not sliced 1 block (3 ounces) low-fat cheese 1 slice oven-roasted turkey, cut 1/4-1/2-inch thick 2 bamboo skewers Core apple and slice in half vertically. Place two halves on cutting board,

flesh side down, and slice each into 3-4 slices, from stem end to bottom to resemble half-moon. Set aside. Cut 2-3 1/2-inch slices from block of cheese and, depending on dimensions of cheese block, cut each slice again to create square or triangle shape, as preferred. Cut cubes of turkey from slice, or, using 1 1/2-2-inch round cutter cut rounds of turkey from slice. Then cut each round in half. Thread pieces onto skewers, alternating between apple slices, cheese and turkey.

Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens has commissioned three of southern California’s most innovative contemporary dance companies to create site-specific choreography for the cultural center’s Casa Kinetic dance series. Casa Kinetic: Contemporary Dance Collective will premiere on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 7:00pm, with performance locations set throughout the institution’s historic estate. This unique participatory event is the first of its kind in Orange County. Award-winning dancers from Los Angeles-based Helios Dance Theater, Orange County-based The Assembly, and Orange County-based Orange County Ballet Theater will perform at the showcase. The evening will be split into two parts, with a strolling performance portion and a seated performance portion. During the first part of the evening, patrons will experience original choreography commissioned by Casa Romantica at three architecturally significant locations. Patrons will walk from performance to performance, each of which will be performed three times. Casa Romantica’s commission is

led by Executive Director Berenika Schmitz. “We believe that we have an important responsibility to provide creative support for artists whose craft is imaginative, innovative, and accessible,” she says. “Casa Romantica’s commission of the original works in Casa Kinetic: Contemporary Dance Collective is in alignment with our goal of developing south Orange County audiences to cultivate a rich cultural heritage, including an appreciation for the contemporary dance movement.” The second part of the evening will include performances in Casa Romantica’s Main Salon, a venue space cherished for its intimate atmosphere. Helios Dance Company will perform duets from its newest repertoire piece Minor Obsessions, which made its international premiere on March 5 at the Ace Theater in Los Angeles. Their Casa Romantica performance will be the work’s Orange County debut. The Assembly will perform a new experimental work called Brusque, which uses kinetic movement to provoke discourse about communication. Breakout star Megan Goldstein of the Orange County

Ballet Theater and the contemporary performing company Westside Dance Projects will present a selection from her 2016 grand-prize performance at the Walt Disney Music Center. Casa Romantica has developed a reputation for wide-ranging cultural programming, including music, art, and contemporary dance events that bring international talent to south Orange County. Casa Kinetic: Contemporary Dance Collective is an accessible and influential introduction for the community, and is an important cornerstone in the cultural center’s arts programming. Tickets to Casa Kinetic: Contemporary Dance Collective are $25 for general admission, and are now available for purchase online at www.CasaRomantica.org, by calling (949) 498-2139, or by visiting the institution at 415 Avenida Granada in San Clemente. A limited amount of tickets to the VIP Afterparty with access to meet the performing artists are available for an additional $10. Casa Kinetic is made possible through a generous sponsorship by Fluidmaster.

The San Clemente Crest was originally created and used by Ole Hanson as his logo in the 1920’s. Research from the San Clemente Historical Society shows the Crest can be found on Ole Hanson Co. real estate advertising, letterhead, and other items from that time. Photos of swimwear at the 1928 Olympic Trials at the Ole Hanson Beach Club were found to feature the

Crest, and the Crest is still in use by the City today adorning Marine Safety uniforms and the logo of the Municipal Golf Course. A variety of apparel was recently printed featuring the San Clemente Crest and is available for public purchase at the Ole Hanson Beach Club and the San Clemente Aquatics Center: Hats $18, T-Shirts $10, and Tank Tops $10.

Though often taken for granted, smell is a powerful sense, especially when a gentle scent can instantly transport your mind to another time and place. From retrieving pleasant memories to boosting your mood, your sense of smell plays an important role in your overall wellbeing. The scents you detect are actually tiny molecules that interact with sensory centers in your brain to elicit responses, such as happiness, relaxation or stimulation. For centuries, smell has been associated with healing practices. Today, the restorative and uplifting benefits of smell can be found throughout everyday life. Next time you’re feeling down or need to soothe your mind, turn to one of these aromatic options: Light candles with a soft, calming scent to relax and unwind. Try lighting the candle when you walk in the door from a long day, and by the time you’ve changed into some comfy clothes, the aroma should begin to fill the air. Take a warm shower and lather up with a scent-driven body wash, such as Softsoap Honey Creme & Lavender or Blooming Jasmine & Plum Moisturizing Body Wash. Inspired by trending ingredients and crafted with real extracts of honey, lavender, jasmine and plum, these body washes can create an invigorating sensory experience that moisturizes and cleanses your skin. Energize your morning with a vibrant air freshener in your car. According to the National Sleep Foundation, scents like citrus, rosemary, peppermint and eucalyptus are stimulants that can help you shake off sleepiness and put some pep in your step. In fact, fruity smells like citrus actually stimulate serotonin, the brain’s “happy” chemical. A fresh bouquet of flowers is an instant mood-booster, but not just

because of their beauty. Numerous studies have shown the emotional benefits of a vase filled with fresh blooms. Take that goodwill a step further by taking a trip to a flower market to purchase fresh flowers with fragrant qualities that can brighten your desk or a room at home. It may be the anticipation of a tasty treat to come, or maybe it’s the connection to childhood memories with a beloved relative, but few can

resist the smell of homemade treats baking in the oven. Of course you can cheat and light a candle or burn wax or oil that mimics the scent, but nothing comes close to the therapy of freeing your hands and mind to bake and create that delicious aroma on your own. PACIFIC SYMPHONY’S AMERICAN COMPOSER FESTIVAL APRIL 6-9

Top fashion tips for spring and summer 2017

Spring is here - time to start planning your warm-weather wardrobe updates. To help you stay on top of the trends for spring 2017, the experts have plenty of advice to share. Lynne Riding, who is the fashion coordinator at The Art Institute of Charleston, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, and Dr. Courtney A. Hammonds, who has the same role at The Art Institute of AtlantaDecatur, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, offer some pointers. Q: What are the top five trends for spring 2017? A: “Look for clean, simple lines,” says Riding. “You’ll also see pleats, sheers and lace, and prints - both floral and graphic.” Hammonds agrees that pleats, especially knife pleats, will be big this spring. “Graphic prints are a major trend, using written words embroidered or printed across ready-to-wear garments,” he adds. “We’ll also see accessories with metallic touches in gold and bronze this year.” Q: What are this spring’s top colors? A: Both experts agree that lilac and other pastels are the most important color story for spring. Greens, especially mint green, are also big. “Muted and sophisticated tones predominate, although brights are also seen, particularly when paired with metallic touches,” Hammonds

says. Q: What one piece should everyone consider adding to her wardrobe to be on trend for spring? A: “A poplin dress shirt in white, lilac or mint green is a great spring/summer addition,” says Riding. “It could either be a long wrap shirt without buttons or a long shirt worn on the hips with a belt.” Hammonds recommends adding a modern accessory, such as a metallic bag or clutch, statement eye frames, or even a metallic shoe that can go from day to night. Some other ideas to give your wardrobe the fashion edge this spring? Consider a longer skirt (midcalf or upper ankle length), wearing a classic shirt untucked with the bottom several buttons undone, or an accessory with fringe. And be sure to hang on to fashions with color blocking. Riding says this trend is continuing to be popular. Whatever you do, Hammonds advises, dare to be edgy and always be true to yourself and your personal style. Riding adds, “A trend only works if it works for you. Does it fit your style, your lifestyle, what’s flattering? For instance, if lilac is not your color, don’t add a lilac dress to your wardrobe. Instead, choose a flower print that includes lilac or wear a print skirt with lilac tones along with a crisp white shirt.”

SAN CLEMENTE WALL MURAL DELIGHTS LOCAL RESIDENTS

By Joshua Host Photo by Julie Faith On the corner of El Camino Real and Mendocino, Francisco Camilo, transforms spray paint into public art. Groups of passersby gasp as they marvel at the visceral draw of the Triton Wall. “This mural is the reason I love San Clemente, it’s breath taking.” Said Julie Milligan, a 30-year, San Clemente Resident. Francisco, an internationally acclaimed muralist from Portugal, is the latest Street Artist in Residence at the House of Trestles. He has been staying with the program founder, Joshua Host, while completing murals in Long Beach and Los Angeles. The Triton Wall was commissioned by the Street Artist in Residence program, in collaboration with the building owner, as a gift for the residents of San Clemente. “I had a large, empty wall and I saw this as an opportunity to beautify the South Side.” Said Jeff Campbell, the building owner. “The Triton, San Clemente’s icon, captures our love for the sea and unifies our town’s aspirations. This mural is a token of our love and appreciation for San Clemente,” stated Host. The “Triton” is also the symbol of The San Clemente High

School “ Tritons”. Francisco worked day and night for seven days on the mural, during which hundreds of residents stopped to say thank you and root him on. Nearby resident, Mat Crossan stopped by

Simplify Fish Fridays with Sheet Pan Dinners If you’re observing Lent, Friday fish dinners could be in your future, but that’s no reason to feel limited by what you can cook. Seafood pairs well with all sorts of flavors – from chili seasoning to lime extract – and bakes quickly on a sheet pan with minimal cleanup. Follow these simple tips from Dr. Wendy Bazilian, McCormick Health Advisor and Registered Dietitian, to get your family asking for good-foryou proteins like salmon and shrimp all year long: While lemon is a great complement to seafood, think about pairing with other citrus flavors like orange and lime. Try marinating shrimp in a mixture of lite coconut milk, lime extract, ginger and red pepper. Add colorful vegetables like zoodles or asparagus to your sheet pan to boost both seafood and vegetable servings. You don’t need a spiralizer to make zoodles because many grocery stores offer pre-made zoodles in the produce section. Keep shrimp in your freezer to pull out for stir fries, pastas or this Coconut Lime Shrimp with Zoodles recipe. Explore more recipes to enjoy during Lent, spring and beyond at McCormick.com, or look for McCormick Spice on Facebook and Pinterest. Coconut Lime Shrimp with Zoodles Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 15 minutes Servings: 4 1/4 cup Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk (regular or lite) 1 teaspoon McCormick Ground Ginger 1/2 teaspoon McCormick Garlic Powder 1/4 teaspoon McCormick Crushed Red Pepper 1/4 teaspoon McCormick Pure Lime Extract 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined 1 small zucchini, cut into thin noodles with spiralizer 1 medium yellow squash, cut into thin noodles with spiralizer 1 medium carrot, cut into thin noodles with spiralizer 2 tablespoons oil 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon McCormick Ground Black Pepper

Burning, Tingling, Numbness or Pain? Heat oven to 375 F. In large, re-sealable plastic bag, mix together coconut milk, ginger, garlic powder, crushed red pepper and lime extract. Add shrimp; turn to coat well. Refrigerate 15-30 minutes. Remove shrimp from marinade. Discard any remaining marinade. In center of large, shallow, foil-lined baking pan, arrange shrimp in single layer. In large bowl, toss vegetable noodles and oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper; toss to coat well. Spread noodles around shrimp in pan. Bake 10-15 minutes, or until shrimp turn pink and are cooked through and noodles are tender. Serve shrimp over vegetable noodles. Test kitchen tip: For faster prep, use 4 cups store-bought spiralized vegetable noodles instead of spiralizing them yourself. Orange Chili Sheet Pan Salmon Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 20 minutes Servings: 8 Nonstick cooking spray 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Orange Extract 2 pounds salmon fillets, skin removed 1 pound asparagus, ends trimmed 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into strips 1 package McCormick Original Chili Seasoning Mix 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar Heat oven to 375 F. Spray foillined, 13-by-9-inch baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. In small bowl, mix together oil and orange extract. Place salmon and vegetables on separate sides of baking sheet. Brush vegetables with 1 teaspoon extract mixture. Brush both sides of salmon with remaining mixture. In small bowl, mix together seasoning mix and brown sugar. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons seasoning mixture over vegetables. Sprinkle both sides of salmon evenly with remaining seasoning mixture. Bake 20 minutes, or until fish flakes easily with a fork and vegetables are tender.

Table for 10 Raises $300,000 for the teen project and Vocational Visions Jeff Nixon and Diana De Bruhl with Julie Hefner and Brian Abraham Photos by Bob Hodson and Tony Lattimore Table for 10, benefiting two deserving nonprofits in the area, held its 11th annual culinary spectacular for a sold-out crowd of 350 guests at Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa in Dana Point. The evening was one of the most extravangant events that I’ve been to and seriously one of my favorites. The event is definitely for gourmet food and fine wine lovers – the perfect place to experience a culinary decadence second to none. Each table, created by a different chef from one of Orange County’s most prestigious restaurants enjoyed a scrumptious five-course tableside feast, with superb wine pairings, and tables uniquely decorated by each restaurant. Take a look at this line of restaurants and chefs who participated! Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club – Jeff Platt; Aveo Table & Bar, Monarch Beach Resort- Colin Thornton; Balboa Bay Resort - Rachel Haggstrom; Blackmarket Bakery – Rachel Marie; Cafe Beau Soleil - Pascal Gimenez; Coliseum Pool & Grill, The Resort at Pelican Hill - Oscar Fonseca; Craft House Restaurant – Blake Mellgren; Cucina Enoteca - Tony Trujillo; Dublin 4 Gastropub & Wineworks for Everyone- David Shofner; Maro Wood Grill – Debra Sims; Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa - Andy Arndt; Nirvana Grille - Lindsay Vocational Visions Executive Director Joan McKinney, Event Chair Smith-Rosales; Old Vine Cafe - Mark McDonald; Orange Hill Restaurant – Eric Mickle; Primal Alchemy Catering - Paul Buchanan; Splashes, Surf & Kristin Martin, The Teen Project Founder Lauri Burns Sand Resort - Ron Fougeray; Stonehill Tavern – Alan Mardonovich; Tanners, Paséa Hotel & Spa - Kevin Meyer; The Loft, Montage Resort - Michael Campbell; The Pacific Club - David Martin; The Ranch at Laguna Beach Charles Imbelli; True Food Kitchen - Chris Polley; Tustin Ranch Golf Club - Sous Chef Sara Guccionne (Chef Bert S. Agor had a family emergency); Waterman’s Harbor, Dana Point - Michael J. Doctulero; Watertable, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa - Manfred Lassahn; 90 Pacifica, Irvine Spectrum - Scott Raczek The live auction, led by gavel girl DawnMarie Kotsonis, featured over-thetop “Best of Chefs” dining experiences, as well as travels to exotic locations around the globe. Along with auction monies raised, dinner costs were absorbed by the restaurants and chefs, with special underwriting from event sponsors and a Fund-A-Need auction, making it possible to give more than $300,000, divided between the two deserving charities - The Teen Project and Vocational Visions. Among those attending who were integral to its success were The Teen Project Founder Lauri Burns and Vocational Visions Executive Director Joan McKinney, as well as Title Sponsor Legacy Pharmaceuticals International, represented by Chairman/CEO Mike Danzi, and Ed Lee, co-founder of Mike Danzi, Here he is with his Chef Host Pascal Olhats and Wahoo Fish Taco. Danzi was presented the Angel Sponsor Award for his honorary Chef’s Jacket! Chef Salvatore Giuliano company’s outstanding support of the event. The Venue Host Chef was Salvatore Giuliano from Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa, with Adam Navidi from Oceans & Earth and Future Foods Farm serving as Event Executive Chef Chair. Event Chair Kristin Martin presented Navidi with an award for his 11 years supporting the event - the only chef to do so. An event highlight was the testimony by Vanessa Gray, who thanked Lauri Burns and The Teen Project for “saving my life,” as she put it. Growing up in an abusive home, she aged out of the foster care system at 18 and was on the streets for five years before she found a home, drug treatment and a scholarship for technology school through the nonprofit. Today, she is employed in marketing with a management company. “I now know my purpose in life,” she said. Vocational Visions’ programs, services and personalized support develops the talents of adults with disabilities by creating pathways to employment, life-long learning and social inclusion. The Teen Project provides teens aging out of the foster care system the resources and support of an intact family to allow them to successfully transition to adulthood. If you’re looking for ways to bring some extra energy to your lifestyle and shake up your routine as spring rolls around, you may be surprised to find how seemingly simple changes can make a big difference. Sometimes all you need is a little change in your daily routine or a small adjustment to jump-start a fresh take on life. Ideas don’t have to be big to be impactful. Sign up for a fitness class. When your workout regimen feels repetitive, it’s hard to stay motivated. One way to wake up your workout is to enroll in a new class, where you can learn new moves and put your muscles to work in new ways. Make your down time productive. Your idle time may be minimal, so it’s all the more reason to fill those hours with productive activities that make you happy. If you’re looking to take on a new hobby, now’s the time to commit to your newfound passion, whether it’s understanding the ins and outs of digital photography or volunteering for a cause close to your heart. Improve your oral health. Maintaining your overall health includes your mouth too. An option like Colgate Total Advanced Health Mouthwash can help you take charge of your oral health. This mouthwash is the first oral care product to contain dual-layer technology that combines freshening power with germ killing ingredients – simply shake to activate and see the results in the sink. Learn more at ColgateTotal.com. Invest in a quality mattress. Giving yourself a good night of sleep is one of the most important things you can do to improve your overall health. That’s because your sleeping hours are when your body works to repair and rejuvenate from the tolls

of daily living. If your mattress is outdated or saggy, upgrade for better rest and better health. Explore a new look. A fresh makeup shade or a new hairstyle can give you confidence and put you on a path toward looking as great as you feel. Changes don’t have to be bold or dramatic to make a difference. Simply switching up your eye shadow or lipstick can transform your look for an extra boost inside and out. Redecorate a room in your home. Whether it’s a favorite space or a room you avoid because it needs some TLC, changing the appearance of your environment can create a place for you to feel at home, and that’s simply good for the mind and soul.

Create an oasis for relaxing or a more productive work space and you’ll not only see the results, you’ll feel good when you’re using the space, too. Make more time to socialize. Breaking up your regular schedule can give you the variety you need to unplug and enjoy the lighter side of life. Make plans with friends for no special reason; simply enjoy the company and unwind. Adding some pep to your step doesn’t have to mean major changes. Just a few adjustments can have you breaking out of an old pattern and stepping into a healthier lifestyle with ease. Prepping tips for spring outdoor projects Soon, winter will be winding down and homeowners will start planning and prepping for - a variety of outdoor projects for spring. From cleaning, repairing or replacing decks, to creating raised beds for veggies and flowers, now is the time to start gearing up for those spring projects. Cleaning up Start with spring cleaning existing structures. Take a weekend to clean decks, gazebos and pergolas of dirt, debris, mold and mildew. For structures made of naturally durable Western Red Cedar, a broom, garden sprayer and hose, plus a little bleach are all you need. Sweep winter debris such as twigs and leaves from decks, taking care to clean between planks on horizontal

surfaces. This facilitates airflow and drainage, and can help prevent a buildup of moisture when spring showers arrive. Next, use a garden sprayer to apply a-mild oxygen bleach solution to kill mold and mildew. Be sure to leave the bleach solution on the wood surface for approximately 30 minutes, and then rinse with water. Never use a pressure washer as it can damage the wood. Maintenance and repair Carefully inspect outdoor structures for wear and tear. While Western Red Cedar contains natural preservatives that make the wood durable, all outdoor structures require annual care, including those made of pressure-treated lumber or composites. Check planks, beams and boards for cracking, warping or rough spots and repair accordingly. Replace damaged wood, and be sure to examine hardware to ensure it’s working properly and free of rust. New projects If you’ve always dreamed about lounging on a lovely deck on a summer afternoon, or savoring a spring morning beneath the shade of a decorative pergola, now’s the time

to start planning the project. A great deck is the showpiece of an inspired backyard, and spring is a prime time to add one. To ensure your deck affords you the most value and enjoyment, consider using an online deck planner to help you envision your deck before you begin building. As gardening grows in popularity, you might consider adding raised planting beds to your landscaping. Raised beds not only make caring for and harvesting your garden easier no bending required - they can also function as a decorative enhancement to your outdoor environment. The material you choose will influence the longevity, beauty and enjoyment of your structure, so carefully consider your options before deciding. “Many homeowners choose Western Red Cedar for its beauty and natural durability,” says Paul Mackie, western area manager, Western Red Cedar Lumber Association, or “Mr. Cedar” as he is known in the industry. “It has a deep, rich luster that other woods and man-made materials just can’t match. Plus, it’s a greener choice because it’s renewable and recyclable - unlike composites - and

doesn’t require chemical treatment as non-durable wood species do. It’s naturally rot and insect resistant, and you can stain it or leave it natural, depending on your preference.” The green qualities and durability of Western Red Cedar make it a great choice for virtually any outdoor structure - including those popular wooden playsets that begin appearing like wildflowers in backyards across the country every spring. Whatever project you’re dreaming of this spring - from building a new deck, pergola, or planting beds to refurbishing an existing outdoor structure or palyset - careful planning, cleaning, maintenance and the right materials can ensure your project adds value and beauty to your home environment.

You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (714) 7302727 for information regarding the trustee’s sale or visit this Internet Web site -www.servicelinkasap.com- for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case: 128694. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. A-4613744 03/24/2017, 03/31/2017, 04/07/2017

QUARTER PAGE COLOR This month I have terrific low prices on quarter page full color ad packages. Plus you can choose to either pre pay or pay as you go. But remember these rates apply only if you order this month. Smart business owners and marketing experts agree that the best advertising program is one which brings you clients and customers. Savvy business managers are wise to be concerned about high volume publications that don’t deliver a strong local audience that would generate immediate income for your business. Major daily newspapers like the Times and the Register reach nearly a million readers, but do you really need to pay their high prices to reach your customers in San Clemente, Talega, Dana Point? While some glossy monthly magazines are stylish, their costly rates may not be realistic compared to choosing a highly effective newspaper like these reasonably priced local newspapers which are received by your most likely preferred customers of high income homeowners. This advertising costs you far less money. These five local newspapers are attractive, effective and affordable. Let’s talk today!

Tips for a Vintage Kitchen Remodel

When you renovate an older home, the goal is not always to replace old with new. In fact, some renovations are all about preserving the past with a design that reflects and pays respect to the yesteryear features that make your home unique. Whether you’re planning a renovation for a 60-year-old home, or working to infuse some retro charm into a newer place, the ultimate goal is capturing the nostalgic feel of older homes: the classic lines, hardwood, moldings and woodwork, and features like fireplaces or stonework, bannisters or windows and doors. The kitchen can be a particularly challenging room to renovate because the blend of old charm with modern convenience and functionality can seem at complete odds. These ideas from the design experts at Elmira Stove Works can help you combine practical function with timeless features for a room filled with character and purpose. Keep cabinet facades true to the era. Updating the cabinets is practically a necessity for any vintage kitchen remodel. Although many older kitchens lacked the cabinet space modern homeowners desire, you can still achieve a retro look with ample storage by focusing more

on the shape and style than on the quantity. With this approach, you can add as much storage and as many functional amenities as your space allows while still capturing the right look for the era. Opt for sleek and understated styles, or for some extra flair incorporate exaggerated angles and curves common to mid-century design. Material and color options abound, so you’re free to go bold and glossy or more subdued. Design with a focal point in mind. In a retro kitchen, standout elements such as colorful appliances can enhance the space and act as a focal point in the room. Stainless steel has become almost “default” in kitchens from coast to coast. Whether your home is on the beach, in the mountains or in a suburban neighborhood, for those who find beauty in the past, choosing a retro refrigerator or a vintage stove might be a better choice. These appliances act as a major design element in the space, and fortunately there are plenty of options when it comes to retro appliances with exciting pops of color. One example is the Northstar line offered by Elmira Stove Works, which offers the ideal blend of form plus function: soft lines, rounded corners and refreshing

colors – including a dazzling Robin’s Egg Blue – along with the premium performance you’d expect from the most modern appliances. Visit elmirastoveworks.com to explore a product catalog and find more design inspiration. Let the details bring it all together. Vibrant color is the signature of any retro kitchen, so don’t forget to carry that design element through the space with accessories like dishes, cookbooks and vintage relics that celebrate bygone days. Other details

like hardware, small appliances and utensils that harken the past can bring a cohesive look to the kitchen for a seamless style that feels like stepping back in time. Bringing old character to life can be a tricky proposition when it comes to remodeling, however, with the proper focus on appliances, major features like the cabinetry and small details that make a big difference, you can confidently create a new space that takes you to another time.
